For anyone looking into this disc. I ordered one in November '23 and after some pestering, got it at the end of January '24. The build quality is surprisingly solid. All in all, I'm impressed with how much is packed into the thing at a reasonable price. Disney should be taking notes
Hi really good to see an honest review on the disc, I am looking to get one but just wondered how long it took to arrive from ordering it, also does it let you use custom colours other than standard and more music samples regards Ben
Maybe in a few weeks I'll try to do a follow-up video showing what I've learned and tips and tricks with my several weeks of owning it. But answer your question. Yes, you can do custom colors both for the inner ring and the outer ring. But you have to use the Wi-Fi configuration tool to do it. I have found that I'm having a little more success getting the Wi-Fi configuration to work. I ordered it last September I believe. So for me it took around 9 months. However, there are others I know that have waited for this disc for over a year. So unless he has improved is turn around time it can be a very long wait.
After playing with the disc more I found that the web app works much better on my cell phone but I have to turn on Airplane mode otherwise my phone keeps dropping the disc wifi and moving me back to cellular or my home internet wifi. Also found that having the disc blade out and spinning I can then get the custom color changer on the app to work. The disc usb C port is for charging while charging, there is an amber led near the charging port. when the disc is off and charging is complete the led will turn green. In case you are not using the disc for a long time, I recommend to remove the batteries
@@spyder5876 I guess. I have my disc so I am not waiting. Lots of hardware manufacturers put extra things in the hardware that they might or might not use in the future. If he had several of these boards made then it makes sense for him to spend a little extra and put on buttons that are there if he chooses to program functions for them in the future instead of haveing to design and make a new board.
Ive been hearing a lot of stuff about scams and etc. but in all honesty. Would you recommend buying the disc…? I want it and willing to wait a little but I definitely dont want to get scammed

I went back to old emails and I do show that I got a FedEx tracking number. However, it looks like that might have come from FedEx directly as I'm signed up and notified anytime a package is sent to my address. For some reason I can't find any emails directly from him with my tracking number and it was back last June so I can't recall if I only got the tracking number from FedEx or also directly from him.
Can you turn off the retractable blades for when you activate it? Since the second wave is going to be launching in 3.5 days, this is the only thing I'm uncertain of for if I'll get it or not.
@@doctorduck2000 When awake the disc will make motion sensing sounds with the blades retracted. When you shake or do a sharp twist of the disc then the blades extend and you get the blade spinning sounds along with the motion sounds.
@@AssassinsRush1 Yes this version could be categorized that way. however his second version is much more customizable and I would say is more similar to a SN pixel or xeno pixel with the ability to connect it to a computer and customize the fonts and colors.

The PCB buttons do not do anything and apparently are there for future functionality.

Once the disc is on (awake) then the motion sensing for the blade extending is always on until you put it to sleep.

@@doctorduck2000according to the website they do sell a version that does not have retractable blades. They just stay open.
There's a 'holster mode' that mutes the disc and only leaves the inner ring lit up in the version I have
