Mik watching Frederick track solos was like " every one of these is amazing.... Stop it... just stop being so amazing "... haha.. He's right into it...
Sorry not sorry but Opeth lost me after they stopped being a Death Metal band. They formed as a Death Metal band and slowly went prog rock and shit the fucking bed. I will always love Opeth, as far as post Watershed and possibly Heritage they suck. Mikael said himself he doesn’t give a shit about anything but money now so there ya go. Fuck em
@@lotuseatr09 would you prefer they keep making the same stuff they obviously don't enjoy making anymore, just to appease the fans? that sounds like selling out to me. sacrificing the creative vision in order to keep the fans.
This has given me a new perspective to listen to Sorceress. To see how the tracks were recorded, what emotions were involved, and how overall the band and producer felt, is very important and it sets a tone and mindset for the listener
I know that feel (2 years late) I have that same feeling years ago while I was watching Steven Wilson's Insurgentes movie, I created an uncondidional love for that album
Great that my favorite obscure death metal bands evolved into one of my favorite rock and roll bands. What a an amazing array of music and art. Long live Opeth.
Plenty of death metal bands out there, rock music was in short supply. I wouldn't call the change in direction "selling out". In fact it was brave. Thanks Opeth.
@@saltpeter7429 there certainly aren't as many great Rock bands like there were in the 70s and 80's, I wouldn't say this is selling out at all, it's far too progressive to really be considered mainstream
THIS is what I expected of the behind the scenes vid Opeth themselves were posting, not just a bunch of interviews of them being like "yeah I tracked guitars today n had a beer it was fun"
I once heard Mikael slating electronic music just like any rock purist, so I was pleasantly surprised to see him handling a Moog synthesiser! After all, rock and metal wouldn't exist without the wonders of electronic engineering.
The album is so uniquely great, I think especially spring mcmlxxiv, that Frederik is playing here, could be a number one single. Quite a shame that most of the reviews in the prog and metall magazines don't even mention it.
Maybe your hands will be a bit lighter & faster on the Keys if you take off the extra 5 lbs of freaking "Wrist" Jewelry, just saying !!! Lol I never saw Wakeman or Emerson with much on ! Sounds great though ! : D
i just will never understand how to put a good PRS or any Gibson-like type of Guitar down for a lame single coiled strato?? but you know what? it still all beautiful music and my outmost respects for this 2 great guitar players
What's the guitar effect he's using on the first guitar solo in this video? I would like to know the pedal?? If anyone knows for sure, I would appreciate the info :)
At the end you could see Axe was the only one who knew how to drink Scotch properly: neat, smelling it first, and the sipping it. M and J just downed it-barbarians!
I was imagining my own surprise if I had randomly walked up to the bar to order and seen the guys standing there. It would be such a surreal experience :>
One thing I learned from 20 years in bands is to let everyone contribute. The Dark Side of the Moon approach. Otherwise it's too one dimensional and you don't get full effort from all the band.
In the purest tradition of shy bass players, Martin Mendez litterally waits till the last second of the video to say his first word
Hahahaha
Well the drummer barely says ANYTHING which is almost unheard of!🤣🤘 I am a drummer myself and NEVER know when to shut up😁
I wish I could hug him just for a little while
The keys on this album are incredible, love the depth they add!
Mik watching Frederick track solos was like " every one of these is amazing.... Stop it... just stop being so amazing "... haha.. He's right into it...
What's the name of the intro song ?
15:15 - I wanna hang out with this guy
12:20 song name?? Please
Niggas Poopoo thanks!
I love Mikael trying to convince Frederik that the solo was perfect. He sure found himself a hell of a lead guitarist.
Fred is one of the best players in all of Sweden, hell, all of Europe even
@@5urg3x WHAT GUTHRIE GOVAN IS A VIRTUOSO YOU IDIOT
@@austin5732 Relax, he said one of the best. There can be more than one! Govan is amazing too.
@@austin5732 Personally I like Frederiks playing better. I like Guthrie a lot, but I get exhausted after listening to him for more than half an hour.

Even though I love Opeth's older stuff, I think that Soreceress is a tremendous album.
I like the new one even better...

I worked with the guy not too long ago, awsome musician.
@@jonatanhedlin3992 that's sick
Damn, martin came straight from middle earth to record the drums
so mythical, much wow
Panncham Kamda
I must have missed that bit
Mendez is the most amazing member of the band, without even talking...I only need to see him while standing and it brings laugh on my face!
Miss his hair swaying though :-) It was a classic move on stage back in the day.
Fredrik almost never smiles. He is the man for the job, absolutely professional and amazing guitarist.

I think he meant the stuff purely created on some computer software
Fredrick is sooooo underrated. Fantastic guitarist!
I think Fredrik could play anything. No boundaries. He's like the modern day Randy Rhodes.
100% agreed
14:54 Joakim tryin so hard to remember the phrase "top me off" I feel bad for him
Chris Greene hahahha
LOL! you're so right!
When Fredrik hit that pinch harmonic... holy crap!
Little did that Bartender knew she was serving Opeth hahaha!
She had to know. They and other bands are probably pretty regular during their recording schedules.
mikael drinking his own opeth beer ;)
I love how Fredrik is going through signing a bunch of ghost reveries cds (not that he shouldn't, it's just funny)
He’s on the album! I didn’t realize it either but he’s credited as lead

Man I miss Axe :(
The mix of this album is so bass heavy it is hilarious we get no bass or drum footage 😂
I love it. You guys enjoy such a great life.
how they record the keyboard at 8:37 is just amazing
mendez is so funny...without even trying to be!
You know they got cash just by that studio they booked. Look at that place.
I love Mike's "fuck yeah" face at 3:24 when Frederik pinches that note. I love the album cut but I kinda wish that last version made it to the record.
The best song on the album is Spring MCMLXXIV
I mean I love the entire album but this one has a special place in my heart
It's so weird to see Fredrick playing a strat,i don't know why
I love that yellow strat, like for real.
Opeth became a hard rock ELO. Who would ever told...
Mikael is the Sirius black of music hahah
Watching this makes me wanna have a beer IMMEDIATELY! Damn, they drink a lot :D
Not much else to do in Sweden when it’s cold
Damn, Sirius Black is a decent musician.

Because it's not on the main album
Sorceress is in my opinion on of the best albums ever written
Im just here for the long hair and the black shirts. But the metal music is good too \m/
Mr. Fredrik Akesson eating is something I never thought I wanted to see
Can someone explain why people hate sorceress
Mendez is the most serious dude ever. Love him.
The ward is an underrated song with a catchy groove.
the solo at 2:23 is so much better than the one in the original
Sorceress is an underrated opeth album. Top 5 for me
Totally agree. And I'd say in cauda venenum would be in the top 5 aswell
Deep Purple Influences....!
Love this band love all you guys but most specifically Fred
Dayuum. What song is that Keyboard solo on. So Soulful
Spring solo the bonus track my favourite solo on the album.
Mikael’s face at 3:21 lol
The intro to the album is so beautiful and gets me excited for the album. It’s growing to be one of my favorite Opeth albums.
I can totally play that. lol just kidding. I can't. I can't play that.
Axe is giving off serious Skwisgaar vibes in the pub.

JBL 4355 monitors... Vintage as hell :)

So cool to see fredrick playing the actual solo from the record on video...all improved....love it

Thoroughly enjoy the album! Have digital and vinyl, almost suits the vinyl medium better I think! But it's hard to drag a record player around!
Mendez should smile and talk more, he's in the best band on the planet FFS!
should be fine, right?
Probably the best player on the planet right now.
14:51 when mikael gets drunk and recalls his favourtie band in the background

what song's solo were they recording in the beggining?
SoKE DESTROYER Era I think
MCLMXVIII smthg like that
The first 3:30 of this video is so Pink Floyd
Mikael has a new beer each time it changes scenery 😂😂
so they didn't use any of the fredrik's solos on spring 1975?
They did, the 2nd half of the solo is his. They just re-recorded it after this video was made
Sweep picking the ole ivories.
Whats the ñame of the first sonó on the video, i cant find it !!!,!,
What is the name of the song which was played on 9:17? The acoustic one
Persophone
Es realmente brutal la guitarra de Fredrik!!
Holy crap they drink a LOT of beer lol
That scene at 13:34 really looks like Bangor high street, is that where they are??
whic Bangor? US, Wales or Northern Ireland? Don't say Wales cause I'm gonna lose it, since that's where I am now.
I spy the book of Opeth at 12:51
