    He wasn’t kidding about Renaissance. I can definitely hear some Opeth type themes in the title track. Very interesting record and pretty epic for the 70’s.

    Found out about Camel from Mikael Akerfeldt! Awesome band, Moonmadness and Snow Goose are amazing albums. Peter Bardens has some great solo stuff as well

      Song for All Seasons is not even one of Renaissance’s most acclaimed albums, but I agree it is a very underrated album. Very soft and beautiful, and surprisingly good to hear Michael digs it. I love that he has such varied taste in music.

    I'm Listening to renaissance right now. She is like the female Jon Anderson. Hints of abba tone on her voice too. Very cool prog folk album. Music reminds me a bit of old genesis mixed with some Yes.

    He's not joking about Lucifer's friends kiddies. Amazing band!! Auctually their evolutionary trajectory was very similar to Opeth's. They evolved from a metal band into something that defied classification. Coolest band name ever too.

    I'm surprised he didn't recommend Camel. Their song "Never Let Go" was basically the inspiration for the riff on "Benighted". But yes, Renaissance is amazing. Great recommendation.

    I CANNOT BELIEVE they were playing MALPRACTICE by Testament at the record store. That's their BEST old era song Id argue to my last breath. It's practically prog thrash but just.... Every aspect of the composition is 10/10

    Mikael is about the “farting” album cover. They were shooting photos and none really came out right. Duane Allman, who is sitting next to the leaning dude(Dickey Betts) had just run to buy an 8 ball and sat back down, making everyone crack up.
    It’s Allman Brothers Live at Fillmore East( one of the greatest live albums ever)

      Dylan , That is the full truth but many folks don't know the photo was not from the Fillmore but at Mussel Shoals . Man he sure missed out on one of the best Live albums ever. He's very well versed on so much but he has no clue who The Allman Brothers are.

    Lucifer's friend! I got the first four albums. Kick-Ass Rock/Prog rock(Banquet album). Led Zeppelin ish at times , but their singer holy shit!!!

    Mikael needs to check out Warriors of the World from Manowar. Their last great album. The title track is the simplest song ever written, but I'll be damned if it isn't catchy as all hell.

    In Eastern Europe and Europe in general Manowar were HUGE. Like, Metallica or Maiden level huge. Nobody considers them a joke around here as a lot of people in the US do for some reason. Why is that is beyond me. And is not just guilty pleasure, they are legit, their first several albums are actually really good, even for people of highest standards, such as Mikael.

      Tis a sign! One of the greatest prog metal bands of all time! You should check them out. Live at the Roundhouse tapes and Heritage gives you a great range

    Went and listened to Renaissance "A Song for All Seasons" (ruclips.net/video/YdszVEg6e1Q/видео.html) based on his recommendation -- HOLY CRAP! "Epic" is not even remotely adequate to describe the song... Heavy without distortion, ethereal vocals, and complex AF. Definitely looking forward to listening to the whole album (in one sitting as recommended by Mikael).
