cant beleive this album is 14 years old now.. time flies.. also i must have watched this documentary about 50 times now. doesnt get old. for this low of a production they sure did manage to get beautiful surroundings for mikeals interviews.
For people that are wondering what song the riff Mikael is playing at 4:12 is from. It's from Megalomania, by Black Sabbath, from the album Sabotage. Just saying...
I would love one more Opeth record with this line up (minus Per). Watershed and Heritage do very little for me. I miss Peter's riffing and Lopez's special flair and groovy fills.
That's why people are interested in Opeth. I am not a dyed in the wool metalhead anymore, or at least the devoted self proclaimed metalheads would say I am not. Not doing the costume, the speak, the elitism. I think that is a huge part of Opeth and Tool. It crosses genre lines all over the place, transcends the boundaries. I have a few friends I would call deadheads, Gerry is held in the highest esteem. These people love Tool and Opeth, probably because they are not restrained to any preconceptions and the music is beautiful and intelligent. I saw youtube video. GOJIRA live at red rocks recently, it had a big impact on me, I think that is a band I will jump into exploring what they are doing, throwing off, or creating new styles.
I don't know if this is stating the obvious, but Lopez is in a new band called "Soen", and their first record is really awesome. It sounds a bit like Tool, but also different in many ways. Just a littel suggestion, if you havn't heard of them :)
i think i found it out, it sounds like Ghost of perdition, if you think about it it sounds allot like the part around 5:00 into GoP. i may be wrong, but could it be like a remixed or acoustic version of it?
I think they're too different to compare. Lopez has a strong Latin American influence in his music that resonates in every beat he plays, and Axenrot has a strong basis in free jazz and early prog styles.
Whenever I see Peter, I think of his cassette.
i really cried for Lopez's departure after viewing this.. God, i miss this latin beast
Best guitar tone on any record ever. Period.
Yes. So true! The tone and atmosphere on this record is unmatched
Mike - "ugh, that really sucked... What the hell are you doing..?" Lmao
That was irony, calm down, Mikael is very sarcastic a lot of the time.
@@miguelprats3753 they know... thats why they said lmao
All these years later and I still find myself quoting Mikael’s “HEAVY METAL” in a German accent.

Definitely didn't need to wonder about that. Best song on Sabotage, though I prefer the first half.
7:45 - Yes you ARE the best band in the world!
"That sucked. What the hell were you doing?"
Gee, I wonder why Lopez had an anxiety problem? ;p
8 years late but it was irony
What is playing on 5:42?
Perfection. Pure genius.
4:13 Megalomania, my favorite Sabbath song. I fucking love Mikael.
Seeing Anders chilling with the band is fucking sick. And on a side note. None can match Lopez. One of a kind.
Lopez is such a great drummer, I listened to GR - just focussing on the drums - it was a great experience!
1:35 didn't know Legolas played the drums
I would love one more Opeth record with this line up (minus Per). Watershed and Heritage do very little for me. I miss Peter's riffing and Lopez's special flair and groovy fills.

6:34 Nice Katatonia shirt!!!
That's Anders at the very beginning too.
Yeah, I'm a drummer too, and that part just really made me laugh! :D
He had severe anxiety problems and like they said, he couldn't tour.
What song starts at 6:05?
song at 6:09? HELP
An unreleased track from Ghost Reveries.
5:14 Lopez doing a Christopher Walken impression?
That's right dont cop out on just metal all the time. You wanna be special play all kinds of different types of music.

At 11:00 why does he have a tissue/paper towel around the neck of his guitar close to the head?
To cut string sounds that don't need to be there.
4:29 Mikael is so sympathetically drunk😂
Wat combo-amp is he using at 10:16 that part?
whats the song at 5:43
What song is it at 3:42 ???
I don't know if this is stating the obvious, but Lopez is in a new band called "Soen", and their first record is really awesome. It sounds a bit like Tool, but also different in many ways. Just a littel suggestion, if you havn't heard of them :)
1:12 what was the name of the drummer he mentioned???
Gene Hoglan
0:20 > Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström from Katatonia :)
i think i found it out, it sounds like Ghost of perdition, if you think about it it sounds allot like the part around 5:00 into GoP. i may be wrong, but could it be like a remixed or acoustic version of it?
No... Because the best drummer in metal is Martin Lopez. 01:20
0:43 «здорово»?🤔
That would be Mr Gene Hoglan, of SYLad and Death and Fear Factory and Testament and I dont even know who else.
Isn't that Blakkheim at 00:21? \m/\m/
i know i wanna know so badly as well!
6:21 Here is the meme

Ian Paice from Deap Purple.
Ian Paice from DEEP PURPLE
Dipp Erpool
You were wrong in something.. You keep being the best fucking band in the world!
martin mendez is a fucking beast!
yes it is.
8:35 are they listening to DT's 'Home' :D?
5:05
If girls are watching this, they'll be laughing too. 😁

06:23
I shet my pants
11:40, it was decent.
You know
reverie/harlequin forest
Estos videos son una joya para mi. Y aunque extraño esa formación, la actual también es una joya! Saludos a todxs menos al gobierno ql de Piñera.
Heroin... yes.
You just did.
"A bit" like Tool is the understatement of the year. But Tool hardly ever releases albums and Soen is great stuff, so who gives a shit?
"Not the best band" - PFF! Fail Peter.
MEGALOMANIA
U bet.
9:24 - nah, we're bored of Peter... NEXT! Lol... poor guy.
Opeth's newer drummer is not as good as Lopez. Period. fight me.
Philip Sica 100% agree. Not going to fight.
I think they're too different to compare. Lopez has a strong Latin American influence in his music that resonates in every beat he plays, and Axenrot has a strong basis in free jazz and early prog styles.
Are you sure. Listen to the Ghost of Perdition on the Titan album, or even just Eternal Rains. Pretty great.
Agreed
Agreed
This was Opeth at their peak. After this, half the band would leave and they'd go weirdo prog.
pineapplepeanuts They'd go fantastic prog. Love both the old and the new.
What's the song starting at 5:43
03:43, what song?
