Hey folks, if you like this documentary consider buying the CD/Blu-Ray set to directly support the band. It’s not expensive and comes with a sheet of the Will and Testament haha. The Blu-Ray has the documentary and a 5.1 mix of the album
Got it before anyone else at my local Store :D. Even though I don't have a Blue Ray player as of yet :p. Would have bought the "Box Set" if it didn't Sell Out in less than 24 hours for pre-Order :(.
There is a level of artistic genius on display here, that few bands can aspire to. We are all so lucky to live in this time and have these masters of their craft create such complex and technically diverse arrangements. Mikael summarizes it best when he dubs this a restless record, and I couldn't agree more. Just as soon as you settle into a harmonious part or some beautiful melodious arrangement, the music knocks you on your arse and reminds you "THIS is a freakin' metal band!" I love this album so much.
Awesome! Thanks for uploading it. Always love to watching those kind of documentaries from the bands. Afterwards you listens album totally in the different way. And it seems to taste better in the ears : )
@AndreBigBoi I know they had a collaboration project in mind a few years back that never went anywhere. Devin went to Sweden and stayed with Mikael to work on music. According to Devin they made "the dumbest piece of music either of us have ever been involved in. Mikael won't even send it to me." 😅 It can't be that bad. I'm still curious to hear music from them.
Wow, TY for this. This was Awsome!!! I want to see more of Opeth. Waltteri is sure a BIG and nice new member and an absolute energy shot into the band, wow, what a talented man!!! Can't wait to hear more from today's Opeth, my Favorite band, of over 1500-2000 band i love.
I loved the documentary. I thoroughly enjoyed it. If I have a minor gripe about it it's the fact that they overlay album parts over the session clips like on the Ghost Reveries documentary. I prefer the raw audio like on the Deliverance/Damnation and Heritage documentaries. I still love the insight into the album. Thank you so much for the upload.
Rockfield Studios has an energy all of its own - feels like it has retained an imprint of all those that have passed through its doors who are sadly no longer with us, engineers and producers as well as musicians. A special place.
Oh my, that "backing vocals" part ❤I finally can say I am on the par with them musically at least with something -- the voice 😀But it's nice to see they're doing their best not being singers, the song came out gorgeously ❤
I loved watching this you get to see the band in the recording process and you get to hear their ideas and opinions on the different aspects of the albums creation process. So much fun it brings me back to when I used to work as an engineer and mix in the big studios. Opeth is such a great band and their new drummer is amazing.
uau!!, que genial. yo tambien los quiero un resto, su música me acompañó en la universidad cuando sentía que no pertenecía a ningún lugar. Y aun la sigo escuchando 17 años después.
For me this album feels like Opeth having made a proper followup to the Still Life concept album which was my favorite of all their albums until this one dropped.
If anyone is curious about the Interview where Mikael tried to get ahold of Ian Anderson and then in tongue-in-cheek fashion, gets "colorful" with the language being rejected (never responding) . . . Look for *"Amoeba Music: What's in my Bag with Mikael Akerfeldt".* Its HILARIOUS when he brings it up, and you get to see what Mike purchases at the HUGE Record store in Hollywood. I haven't been at the new location yet, but I have bought (and sold) TONS of records at the original location. They have an awesome Metal and Prog Metal section. Great spectrum of music finds new and used. And LOTS of memorabilia and books! - And of course, _Last Will and Testament_ was the album I most looked forward to, and I think its in the Top 5 of Opeth albums personally.
Mindbogglingly great band! Opeth just won a new fan…..a progressive rock guitarist himself with Sheer Cerebral Power……very different to Opeth but still in the vein…..
When Akerfeldt toward the end said; "OH Yeah Dood!" I was like . . . . WHO was THAT??? 😳😧Where did THAT come from? 😅 The Valley of Stockholm dude, like, totally :P.
Why is Mikael pressing on the bass (19.50) while Martin is playing ??....Love this whole album !!!!! \m/ (Mikael's facial expression at 7:55, should be used for the next album cover)

It’s always a treat watching these documentaries after new opeth album. The new album is awesome. Literary a treat but this making documentary is the worst. Didn’t see Mikael’s vocal sessions. General day in life kind of thing how other documentaries were. This is too scripted
I'm a little bummed. I'm very partial to the melodic mellow Opeth not the Death Metal vocals. Jethro Tull One of the all-time classic bands and Ian Anderson playing flute should be cool.

He does great live. When they played Allting Tar Slut, he & Mikael did the ending as a duet and it was fantastic. I don't know what happened here though lmfao

done 👍
Is it me or Mikael has aged so freaking damn well? Like a fine wine.
Complex yet balanced.
I guess Mikael was never exactly a good looking guy, but he's looking better with age (ok, that wasn't a nice compliment, but I love him) 😅
@@yuureibana_ he looks much better now than in his early days, like around blackwater park or a bit earlier. For most people, that is the opposite😄
Loved seeing Mikael's praise and enthusiasm for Walt's backing vocals on §6, you can tell everyone else in the band is grateful to have him!
We're so lucky to have over 30 years of music from Opeth in all it's various forms

Thank you very much. I loved the backing vocals section, when Mikael gets impressed by Waltteri's natural singing voice.

It's so cool that they got Devin Townsend to mix and produce the album.

@easyji Sarcasm. Their producer is bald and wears glasses. Kinda looks like Devin a little bit.
