      gotta be honest I got way too invested and nail-bitey when he was making that choice, the staff is clearly and absolutely the best choice there, and it's not even a contest if you ask me. I was going to say this before but I assumed someone else would have.
    When you are in situations, like the fire, where there are a lot of floor hazards you have to navigate your party around, turn on turn based mode.
    This does two things, it allows you to move each character in turn. Manually getting them around obstacles.
    The second is it slows time. If someone is on fire, they take damage every turn. That is every few second out of turn based mode. You get time to think about what to do, or use an action to throw water, without getting hit with damage multiple times.
    Another thing about time. If you drink something like a potion of jumping it says it has a duration of 10 turns. This is about 30-40 seconds of real time. In turn based more it is a full 10 turns of movement. Also you can search for loot and take your time to read about items without worrying about wasting time on the potion.
    I highly recommend using the turn based mode for situations like the fire here or when you were dealing with the gas clouds at Auntie Ethel's.

    • @TomCrow-l6h
      @TomCrow-l6h 8 часов назад +2

    2:43 "She doesn't seem to have many offensive abilities" Here are my three favorite _offensive_ Shadowheart spells.
    • _Spiritual Weapon_ (Lvl II, 10 turns, Bonus Action) is a good one in early game. It creates a magical weapon which can independently attack and be moved around like a companion.
    • _Spirit Guardians_ (Lvl III, concentration) creates a circle of spirits with a 3m radius around the caster. Any enemy within the radius takes 3d8 Radiant damage or 3d8 Necrotic damage per turn, and their Movement Speed is halved. When the spell is cast using a Level IV spell slot or higher, damage increases by 1d8 Radiant or 1d8 Necrotic damage for each spell slot level above 3rd. Moving Shadowheart with Spirit Guardians through enemy lines is so satisfying to watch 😂
    • _Animate Dead_ (Lvl III, lasts until long rest or killed) You can raise a skeleton (specialized on ranged attacks) or a zombie (melee attacks) from a dead corpse. The creature lasts until destroyed or the next long rest. It can move and attack like a companion. the zombie version can deal _crawling gnaw_ If an enemy is killed while infected with this condition, he will rise as a newborn Zombie.

    psst! For Shadowheart, consider the Life domain for her, it makes her a great healer. As for feats and ability scores, for her and other "support" type casters that have to maintain concentration on spells like Bless, consider the Resilient (Constitution) feat, especially if their constitution score's an odd number (in Shart's case here, it was), as it gives them +1 CON *AND* it gives them proficiency in CON saving throws if they don't have them.
    Proficiency in CON saving throws for casters is important for the following reason:
    Concentration checks, the rolls characters make to maintain concentration on a spell when damaged, are actually secretly Constitution saving throws. I say secretly because they're *technically* a subtype of CON saving throws - but anything that boosts CON saves boosts Conc checks.
    Another such feat to consider for casters like Gale (I think you may have seen it already, I think you gave it to one character in levelup in previous episodes) is Warcaster, which gives advantage on Conc checks.
    Alright, zipping my rules lawyer/backseat gamer mouth back up, let's crack on

    Am I the only one who thinks that Gale was/is more in love with the weave than Mystra? She's the embodiment of magic and he loves magic above all. "Magic is my life... There's nothing like it. It's like music, poetry, physical beauty all rolled into one and given expression through the senses." Easy to think he was truly in love, but he wasn't really, not with her. And I do not believe he was more than an amusement to her. I love romancing him and showing him what it's like to be really loved

    Withers doesn't care at all, it's definitely intended, he's on your side but just asks for the gold cause well, magic does have a cost. (in normal D&D, you need a really expensive diamond to use a revival spell, for example). ALso with Gale and Mystra, in D&D you can only go up to level 9 spells, in the lore of D&D there was a time where magic was free, that man in the story Gale talked about, Karsus, who tried to usurp Mystril, tried to ascend to godhood, killing Mystril and destroying all magic in the world. After that the new Mystra banned all magic beyond 9th level spells basically lmao. Gale wanted to get them level 10 spells lol.

    5:02 If you want Astarion to be more like a stealth assassin, then you should pick assassin as his subclass instead of thief. That then lends to a different play style for him though.

  • @wekashipo7507
    @wekashipo7507 3 часа назад

    Pickpocketing Withers is definitely not an oversight. There's even a lore reason for why he charges money but doesn't care if you steal it back. I think Larian included it so that you could feel more free to experiment with builds and not be too afraid of party member death.
    Channel Oath is a Paladin thing. No need to worry about it.
    Watching someone blindly choose between the 3 lightning weapons is always nerve wracking. The bow and trident are pretty mediocre even in the early game and fall off fast. Whereas the staff is top tier all game long. You made the right choice there.
    Between you and me, I suspect that Shadowheart is specially coded to miss more often than other companions. Even when I respec her and fix her stats and do everything right, she still misses constantly.

    okay BASE DND quick tip I've been holding up until now... Can't manage it anymore...
    Attack with Melee weapon use your Strength modifier to HIT and to add DAMAGE (unless light weapon which use Dexterity instead.)
    Ranged weapon use Dexterity modifier for hit and add damage. (Thrown weapon use strength instead... I know DND is kind of complicated.)
    So that flail on Shadowheart isn't going to hit shit with 10 STR...
    Also having stat at odd number, like 15 dexterity for Shadowheart doesn't do anything... having it at 14 will do exactly the same.
    Hope that help. :)

    Minor comment: I notice you often wonder if an enemy is “weak” to anything. That’s not really a concept in DnD; almost no enemies have a “Vulnerability” (incurs 2x damage) to a damage type. Instead, more often enemies may have one or more “Resistances” (incurs 1/2 damage) or “Immunities” (incurs 0 damage) to certain damage types. So it’s usually not finding out what they’re weak to, but avoiding what they’re strong against, if that makes sense.

    OH! I hope it's okay to say this. Not a spoiler really, as doesn't impact your gameplay. You are collecting the Divinity paintings.....There is one in Ethel's hag house....i think the right side of the fireplace behind the vines on the wall has Sebille....and if you go back to where you found the ogres that gave you the horn....up on top of the roof is a hidden side room (you might have to jump across as you knocked down the support beam from an earlier video), should be a ladder outside that lets you climb up. In the room is the painting of Ifan. Back in druid's grove, if you speak to Nettie in the area where Kahga is at....should find Lohse in the second room against the front statue when you walk in. You can't miss it really. Not sure where Beast is at....only one I didn't find yet. You found Fane in the temple/crypt ruins and have Red Prince now. Yay!
