BG3 can be pretty tricky on the first playthrough. You'll die 2-3 times on some fights then realize a super simple tactic that makes that same fight laughably easy.

I recently restarted my Tactician playthrough and am about the same point in the game, so it's been great fun "playing along". Also hilarious watching the chaos, like getting Astarion to play the drums badly 🤣 Can't wait to see you meet all the other NPCs - the cast of this game is vast and amazing. (Full disclosure: being a CRPG newbie, I started on Explorer and beat the game, and then bumped up to Balanced for my second campaign before finally "graduating" to Tactician, so I know how to approach these fights for an easier time, but I applaud your bravery in going straight for hard mode!).

I hope you stay with it. You did well and it was entertaining. Any critics will disappear after one or two videos so don't let them discourage you at all. Please keep going. We need this. Best of luck!

I smell a galemancer and it makes me truly happy, I do think a huge issue with your troubles is passing up on Vicious Mockery at the beginning (You can take it later on). But as a Bard vicious mockery is your free to use ace spell, you insult an enemy (hilarious insults btw) and deal damage and make them more likely to miss. It's free to use as much as you want outside of your main weapons. ALso! I'd suggest checking the settings and turning off 'karmic dice' it's a rather bad setting, when it's on, it'll balance your rolls, getting rid of chance, for a bit, you'll get good rolls, then get nonstop bad rolls over n over is how it works.

I'm on my 5th playthrough currently (first time Honor Mode, wish me luck!) and there are STILL new things I discover LOL A game that keeps on giving!😍About the dark/scary character portraits: for some reason it usually happens when you level up in a dark environment / at night or when you skip the beginning of the Level Up screen animation. (although I don't think you did? 🤨 - for me the last one triggered it) To get rid of them you'll have to wait a bit until you can respec your characters. If you respec the portraits will revert to normal :) To avoid it from happening again wait the flashing animations out in the beginning (ex 31:59) . Surprised they still haven't fixed this :/

part of me wept seeing you pass up on vicious mockery, it's the best cantrip spell in the game for being fun but surprisingly really useful.

I like that you read the books right away tbh :) And some books are very important as they may or may not reveal some context about your current location in the game.

Guidance is a "concentration" spell: It lasts several turns, but only if the caster stays focused on it. A hit in combat can break their concentration. And they can only maintain one concentration spell at a time. So if you use Guidance while Shadowheart has, say, Bless cast on the part, it will end the Bless spell and replace it with Concentration. Which is why you may not want to use it sometimes. ;) Also, always slap Gale's hand. For the lols.

It's fun you say divinity had you playing over 100 hours, my first BG3 run took over 100 hours.

Read all the books - on camera if you want, or not - your choice - I've enjoyed your reading them aloud, as it's been awhile since I read them & I find I like "hearing" them read. Read all the books; reading books adds a richer background to the story, information you will need for the coming story, & sometimes a smile or a tear. I tend to loot everything so I can sell it, if not needed - the gold is useful for getting higher level items, needed potions etc. Pick up all the food you find, unless it's bad - if it's rotten, leave it. And the bandits den is where I died for the first time - lol. Welcome to BG3! I am enjoying your reactions - first runthroughs are fun to watch, as I've been there myself. :D Looking forward to your next one.

Tips: 38:45 - You're on the right tracks with dropping something on it, boxes are just not that heavy. 38:55 - The box, the box is what was vulnerable to the attack there. 51:30 - The doorway can act as a choke point if you let the enemy come to you. 54:14 - You can get advantage by being higher than them, an ally being in melee range, being hidden and in a few other ways. Sneak attack is a core part of a rogue build. 55:30 - If you throw a healing potion, everyone in the splash area will get the same amount of healing.

An inventory management tip from someone with way too many playthroughs under their belt, you might want to pick up bags and use them to separate equipment you want to keep, rubbish to sell and books etc. Also useful for gathering rubbish into when you get encumbered and then sending to camp so your camp chest does not get horrifically messy. 😅

You need to be first in every battle.

lol - character creation takes me an hour usually; my first couple took closer to 90 minutes because I didn't know what to choose; I finally went with what I truly wanted my character to be & act - so many decisions, especially until you've seen how they work. And then had to make the Guardian - AAHHHH! But I did finally get to actually start playing. I totally understand your frustration, but it's all worth the trouble you take at the start. (I made my Guardian hot! - LOL) Wow! Your choosing Tactician means you're an experienced gamer. I play ESO & have played WoW & FFXIV - a tactician I am not, so I went for the easy mode. Once I figure out how to succeed & survive to the end of this game, I may go to balanced (altho' I did try it once & got stuck late in Act I, so I restarted her with mods added this time, & single-class so could do an easy run. I had all your questions at the beginning; I've been playing now for almost four months, off & on. When I get frustrated, I rest from the game for a week or two then go back into it - I'm currently into it - lol. And when I play, I don't want to stop; I've set a timer to remind me I have other things to do. Hee hee hee. This is the best game I''ve ever played though - worth all the hard work - to be able to walk the streets of the city, every little ledge & hill you can reach - awesome. Good luck & have fun! And remember to blank out any X-rated parts of scenes before posting on RUclips (lol), once you reach them - I've had one - it was very nice.

I watched two playthroughs by streamers before my own game arrived & I'm having a blast - the two streamers I watched: one who had played through all the pre-game trials & one who came at it blind - both had such fun & had their own stories. I don't think that everything in this game has been discovered yet. I did have a problem with choosing what character to build, so I now have five different builds all waiting their own turn for a runthrough - & I'm still in Act I - so very much to do yet! I'll watch your playthrough because you look like you're going to have a lot of fun discovering all that this game offers. And Larian is releasing 12 new subclasses in early 2025; they are great! One warning - any mods you want to add - have them added & available for any character you want to use them for BEFORE you create that character! No new added mods will be allowed in an already-made character. Have fun!!! ;D

Without reading books. Its not nessessary. But you can read short notes. My opinion. Your desicion. 😃

The hardest part of D&D is surviving past level 1, regardless of "difficulty" - everything dies real easily. Less so level 2. Don't be discouraged! I loved your battle cry on reload! That's the spirit! By the time you hit level 5 you're basically gods (Critters sound off).

Some advice that the game doesn't really emphasize as much as I think it should but I think is important to know if you're playing tactician as a newbie: Resting is trivial and the game wants you to do it often. If you have enough supplies, you don't need to try running on fumes. You can go into the spellbook menu for Gale and Shadowheart and change their spells at any time. You can't do this for Joey because he's a Bard. Clicking portraits when your party members are next to each other in turn order is way bigger than it seems. You can hover over a spell, item, or action and press the T button for more information. If there's keywords, you can hover over those and press T as well. There's often T menus within T menus. Be very mindful about whether Astarion is using his action or bonus action to hide, dash, or disengage. Being able to do one of those things and attack on the same turn are a Rogue's bread and butter. Any spell with the ritual tag is your best friend. You can cast those spells out of combat without expending a spell slot. Guidance is a concentration spell. Casting it doesn't cost a spell slot, but you can only concentrate on one spell at a time. If Shadowheart casts Guidance while concentrating on something else, her concentration on the other spell breaks. That's why the game always asks you if you want to cast it even if there's seemingly no reason not to.

Reason you have to choose Guidance for each roll is because later on some characters may provide several options. Like Shadowheart who at level 3 can get Enhance Ability, so you have the option of the +1d4 or use a level 2 spell slot to get advantage on the roll. But she can only provide one of those at a time.

My absolute favorite moment of any new bg3 player is when you’ve finally finished the gauntlet of choices for your character and then BOOM “choose your guardian”…we’ve all been there. 😂 Can’t wait to see your journey!

Ok so you said you've recorded part 4 and this is part 2. So any tips we may give you now, you may have found out already. But ill go ahead and say a few anyway. Tips: ( most of these are QOL tips ). 1) Loot everything, EVERYTHING. 2) Add your junk items to wares, then when you're at a trader, you can sell all wares at once, and thats all wares your companions have as well. 3) Have fun. 4) Don't worry if you miss things, you wont see everything in this game in 1 play through, or 2, or 3 or 4, or or or or. Im playing co op with a mate whos finished the game 4 times and i showed him an area he hasnt seen before, i finished the game 3 times, and he showed me things i hadn't seen before. Dont stress. 5) Explore, the game is so big, you can easily miss things ( and thats ok ) but exploring everywhere, even places you think could lead somewhere, probably does. 6) Have fun. 7) When you find Camp Supplies, right click and send to camp, will save you time and inventory space. 8) You get a lot of inspiration points, dont be afraid to use them, they cap at 4, any more gained after 4 are lost. 9) Have fun 10) Loot Withers to get your gold back, he doesnt care, even if you fail. 11) ( most ) Ritual spells only take an action, so spells like Longstrider can ba used over and over at the start of the day to buff everyone. Drinking a potion of Speak with animals will last until long rest, or until you die. Same with a lot of others, but some will over ride each other, so make sure you read the description. 12) Have fun 13) If you get the survival fail by all members, right click on your shovel and manually dig around the area, you dont need to succeed the survival attempt, you just need to be in the right area, and you will dig up the chest. 14) Use elixirs and potions, they are there to be used, dont think its a noob move. Its a must. 15)_ Have fun. 16) You can respec if you find you are struggling. Only costs 100 gold which you can steal back anyway. Its more forgiving than DOS2. 18) Every choice you make has consequences, but dont stress over them, the game changes based on your choices, no choice is wrong ( unless you're trying for a specific play through and out come ) otherwise, dont fret. 19) Have fun. If you want game specific tips ( like wheres a good item for this, type thing ) then just ask. Otherwise, enjoy the much deserved 2023 GOTY.

I'm so invested in watching your journey!! Can't wait for the next video. Remember to SAVE OFTEN...like a crazy amount. No shame in save scumming a lot to get the outcome you want, we all do it. As an audience we want to see you get the best outcome! And some QOL advice: don't write off any characters for "bad personalities" too early on. You learn things about them throughout the game that make them relatable. Too many people hate Lae'zel right away and miss out on an incredible character story,

Most of the time, using guidance when its an option will be beneficial! However, since it requires concentration (and you can only have one concentration spell or cantrip active per character at a time), you may not want to cast it if a character is already concentrating on a different spell. I feel like this doesn't really become an issue though until you have access to more spells, but worth keeping in mind!

Read the books as you go along! I love it. Read at your own pace though. You seemed to struggle a little at such a quick pace.

One of the best games I've ever played. About to play my third character. I'm more attracted to Wyll. Although i'm not attracted to Gale or Astarion, they look like they are good in bed. I'll watch your playthrough with great interest! 🤗

I know this is a bit old, but you can multi-class to get abilites from other classes.

You only chose the Subclass of a character once. So Gale is now a Conjurer forever (you can respec character a bit later if you want). You don't get bonus for casting spell of your Subclass, but your Subclass gives you permanent bonuses (when you were reading them, you missed the bonuses at the bottom). For Conjurer, they get the spell Water Creation for free. You'll get other bonuses related to your School of Magic as you level up. Attack is good, but so is crowd control. For example, the spell Sleep is extremely powerful because it works everytime (no saving throw) if the creatures is not too powerful(it won't let you cast it if it won't work). They wake up when they get damage. So you put one or two ennemies to Sleep, and work on the others.

Welcome to the Game! It will be a bit overwhelming(D&D system) , but you will get a hang of it! Enjoy the masterpiece! And maybe down the line you'll try D&D :D. Instant sub from me! XD

Oh wow, I can't believe that portrait bug is still in the game. Unfirtunatly the only way to fix it is to level up again or respec at the respec NPC if that doesn't work. I usually quicksave before levelling up in case it happens.

The game is awesome and D&D is awesome. You won't be disappointed. I played a paladin, but the game can be different based on you class and race, and your decisions.

Don't want to spam your comment section, but I don't want to leave a comment of 15 pages either. I realize there's a learning curve here: learning the rules of D&D 5e, and learning the game itself, and learning the lore of the Forgotten Realms (the most popular D&D Campaign Setting ever). You should watch the new movie Dungeons and Dragons, it's a lot of fun! I'm glad you got killed, you have to learn the basics. You seem smart, so you'll absorb it all in...hmmm...50 hours? ahahah But seriously, I like that right away you're clicking on the Action and Bonus Action icon, it's a great way to figure out what is available to you (very often it's the Bonus Action we don't know what to do with. Put poison or oil on your weapon! Drink a potion!). About the game: Don't be afraid to Long Rest often. Very often. And talk to your companions a lot, not just when they have a exclamation point over their head. You'll be surprise, they have a lot to say about what is going on! But you can also decide to not talk to them, or to not talk to some of them, and that will make your adventure personalized, it totally works too! Don't be afraid to miss scenes, it's impossible to see everything, just impossible. You're not suppose to catch every scene, that's not a typical RPG you're dealing with. Just have fun! If a companion gets on your nerve, you can tell them to fuck off! Or kill them! There's no rule! There's not right or wrong way to play BG3!

I already left a long comment on your 1st video about how BG3 is unlike any other video game and the closest thing to playing D&D there's out there. It's dear to my heart. I repeat that you should, if you haven't already, think just a little bit about who is Joey, what are his motivations, quirks, morality, etc... No need to go deep or be too serious about it. Then, flesh out more about Joey during the first dozens of hours of playing, just like a real D&D game. I swear you'll have fun if you have that direction to roleplay. I repeat, YOU CANNOT WIN at BG3. There are 17,000 different endings, from super lawful good to extremely evil, with everything in between. So build your own adventure and have fun! It's the only rule: HAVE FUN!
