You had me at 14:30 "players that don't do so well at, go and do whatever you want".... So I could literally give a player freedom and they would quit because they "feel directionless."
Yes. It all depends on the player's personality. Some people aren't just good at setting their own goals to do thus if you don't provide proper direction that there's something worthwhile to do they will quit.
Yes a lot of people strugel with an to open concept, in special when they are not aware of there options. Giving them direction to lern the knowlage what is an option to them, they lern how to navigate them self over time with familiarity to the game.
Yeah my friend's GF couldn't get into Elden Ring even though she was really into Dark Souls. She didn't like that the game didn't point her in a certain direction, so she didn't know where she was "supposed to" go. Kind of interesting to hear since I've never fathomed that concept, since I'm big on freedom in open world games.
@@Wolta I feel somewhat similar, but different at the same time. I enjoy games that give me clear, defined goals to complete rather than making up my own. A good example would be, say, a level-by-level platformer like Mario. Just reach the end of the stage, obvious goal. Even in an open world game, if I'm given guidance on where I should start my journey or having an obvious path of progression, that helps a lot. Just putting me into the middle of something with little to no guidance just overwhelms me, and I just don't know what to do.
@@Wolta This was why I didn't enjoy Elden Ring at all despite loving all of the other Souls games, for a similar reason. I followed the paths that graces showed, and smashed my face against Margit. To be fair, most modern MMOs change so much your previous high level characters become too difficult to pick up again after a couple of years. And FFXIV is a great example of this as it has so many expansions and the super customisable UI as well. I had to start a whole new character when I accidentally (long story) picked up Dawntrail recently, after dropping out after Stormblood. Because I had the same issues you highlighted here with RS3.
Dude you can get plague end requirement mostly from lamping and feathers on boots, if you do quests you will have lots of keys, you probs play ironman which is why you have to grind agility so much. I got level 75 agility with some lamps and silverhawk feathers.
FF14 is actually 440 charactera for $15/month. Just you're only allowed to have a maximum of 8 on them on the same server and 40 on the same datacenter. It also has a very slightly cheaper $13/month sub which "only" gives you 8 per datacenter for a total of 88 characters.
I played rs3 some years ago before they decided to fully bring osrs back, the last thing i remember playing was some winter area mini game, looking at old school being a memeber i believe its winterdolt you had to walk through a force field and can't enter with certain stuff thats all i rememeber, but in old school thats a members exclusive, in rs3 a few memebers skills can be upgraded up until a point, i remember doing a quest with guthix in it and thats memebers only in osrs, leveling up is alot faster and making 1 mil gp didnt take long on a beginner account but bonds costs way more than osrs, the fighting style in rs3 graphically looks better rs3 look graphically better in all ways, i remember their being a duel sword weapon that osrs doesnt have thats a upside and it attacked fast, this was some years ago when they just released after beta so idk how it is now but rs3 was fun, when they brought osrs back i left it alone and regained my childhood, thats why osrs is popular alot of us played this back when it first came out in the late 90s, both are good same kind of chill fun, one is new aged the other is old school Ps edit: i kinda remember why i hung up rs3, there was a quest you had to slide on ice to a rock to reach another or jump over something and i was just like F this b.s, one of those puzzle like type quests..
You've really found your stride hey? The quality is so incredibly consistent with such strong narration and editing compared to your videos from 3+ years ago
I played only for short while when i was a kid, but i always wanted to play again, so i made an ironman account a month ago, payed a membership... and i was paralyzed for a bit what to actually do... then i decided to do all the quests, i set it on timeline and i think i have the best time i ever could have.. but seeing absolutely no players in minigames or skilling areas i remember from back when i was a kid makes me sad (and i know they are filled with people in osrs from the videos of content creators)... i usually feel like i am alone not only bcs i play as ironman and cannot interact with ppl, but often i just dont see any other players around.. its weird
The grind in this game is no joke. I have hundreds of difficult upgrades to invest in for my accounts progression. I quit osrs about a year ago and havent looked back since rs3. Way more polished content and more engaging than osrs will ever be.
I quit osrs a few years ago now. Never played rs3 but I got into RUclips content for it and I gotta admit it's a good game, probably even better than osrs
I mostly stuck with RS3 because I didn't want to restart my account and the evo of combat ended up maturing well and I had a max cape before necromancy. I actually really like rs3 lore and whenever I come back I get to enjoy new lore development.
1:05:00 WoW actually gives you 60 character slots per account, not just 8 FFXIV actually gives you 40 character slots for the $15 sub, it gives you 8 for the $12 sub
I love runescape 3, although i did stop playing after archeology due to my pc going to shit. I recently picked up osrs on my mobile and im loving it. I will be back to rs3 when i decide to get another pc
I still have Saradomin standing there in the monetary waiting for me to start Death of Chivalry, but I haven’t done TWW so I’m not going to do that for a while
as someone with 3000 hours played within the last 2 years, do it, it’s a great game! Group Ironman is also a really nice way to play, it’s just better than the osrs version of group Ironman because you actually share usually untraceable items!

I played rs3 some years ago before they decided to fully bring osrs back, the last thing i remember playing was some winter area mini game, looking at old school being a memeber i believe its winterdolt you had to walk through a force field and can't enter with certain stuff thats all i rememeber, but in old school thats a members exclusive, in rs3 a few memebers skills can be upgraded up until a point, i remember doing a quest with guthix in it and thats memebers only in osrs, leveling up is alot faster and making 1 mil gp didnt take long on a beginner account but bonds costs way more than osrs, the fighting style in rs3 graphically looks better rs3 look graphically better in all ways, i remember their being a duel sword weapon that osrs doesnt have thats a upside and it attacked fast, this was some years ago when they just released after beta so idk how it is now but rs3 was fun, when they brought osrs back i left it alone and regained my childhood, thats why osrs is popular alot of us played this back when it first came out in the late 90s, both are good same kind of chill fun, one is new aged the other is old school
Ps edit: i kinda remember why i hung up rs3, there was a quest you had to slide on ice to a rock to reach another or jump over something and i was just like F this b.s, one of those puzzle like type quests..
I'm grabbing all the popcorn for this 🍿🍿🍿
You've really found your stride hey? The quality is so incredibly consistent with such strong narration and editing compared to your videos from 3+ years ago
I played only for short while when i was a kid, but i always wanted to play again, so i made an ironman account a month ago, payed a membership... and i was paralyzed for a bit what to actually do... then i decided to do all the quests, i set it on timeline and i think i have the best time i ever could have.. but seeing absolutely no players in minigames or skilling areas i remember from back when i was a kid makes me sad (and i know they are filled with people in osrs from the videos of content creators)... i usually feel like i am alone not only bcs i play as ironman and cannot interact with ppl, but often i just dont see any other players around.. its weird
Keeping the aviation industry alive i see
The grind in this game is no joke.
@kingofracism create an account bro. Trust me. You still get the osrs vibe but it's just a more refreshing game

"or you need a 3 hour background video while you do something else"....I'm feeling called out.
Typical Josh Strife Hayes W video
I mostly stuck with RS3 because I didn't want to restart my account and the evo of combat ended up maturing well and I had a max cape before necromancy. I actually really like rs3 lore and whenever I come back I get to enjoy new lore development.
I see josh, I click, i listen to the whole video.
Playing Cata WoW while putting this on my third monitor, I feel called out several times in the first five minutes!
Sorry I am only here because I can’t stop rewatching the Animyst video. I need more , and it’s eating at me.
They definitely put the wiki button in there because half the old quests are bugged and that's easier than fixing them
1:05:00 WoW actually gives you 60 character slots per account, not just 8
FFXIV actually gives you 40 character slots for the $15 sub, it gives you 8 for the $12 sub
I love runescape 3, although i did stop playing after archeology due to my pc going to shit. I recently picked up osrs on my mobile and im loving it. I will be back to rs3 when i decide to get another pc
I still have Saradomin standing there in the monetary waiting for me to start Death of Chivalry, but I haven’t done TWW so I’m not going to do that for a while
Didn't even know there was a RS3. I might have to play this.
as someone who has 20.000 hours wasted on the game. i would highly recommend you not to step on this trap. just avoid it like the plague.
@@yilmazzzz9044 If you've sunk 20,000 hours into it, must be pretty good! I've played since release and it's great to me.
as someone with 3000 hours played within the last 2 years, do it, it’s a great game! Group Ironman is also a really nice way to play, it’s just better than the osrs version of group Ironman because you actually share usually untraceable items!
When I tried RS3 I didn't spawn in tutorial island or Lumbridge and gave up almost immediately. I figured it was a completely different game.
