We recently drove thousands of kms thru the Rocky Mountains and encountered multiple weather systems daily at different elevations. Rain and sleet to sun and heat. My C8 convertible option paid for itself. We hit a button and grabbed the weather/exposure we wanted. And when we wanted speed and comfort - the car is also a hardtop. No stopping or adjusting/losing luggage to make room for the roof panel of coupe. The HTC is incredible option and IMO - the C8s best option. And we always hear the comments from admirers that the HTC looks much more exotic/expensive than the coupe. And now that fall is here, in 20 seconds and on the road - I can immediately grab the warmth and best part of the day vs the dilemma of whether its worth stopping to take coupe roof panel off for only an hour or two? The C8 HTC is your own personal transformer. Still drops jaws wherever it goes.

The convertible for me was a no brainer. I’ve dealt with the removable roofs and I dont like losing the trunk space and having to adapt if weather changes quickly. I’m not doing much aftermarket stuff so for me it paid to put the money up front into the convertible. Btw Clarence if you bring all three windows up it drastically reduces wind noise and you still get enjoyable open air experience. Great job Clarence and Mike!!

Good review Clarence, as always! I personally haven't driven a HTC and I had the option to get one when I ordered my Coupe but elected to have the Coupe over the HTC simply because I wanted to see the motor and I figured there might be some limitations on what could be done between the two styles. I've already heard that aftermarket exhaust are not an option right now, due to the dynamics of the HTC. You can add cats but not the exhaust as of yet. I also had thoughts of mechanicals going bad and being stuck which I've heard of a few issues. Kinda like buying a TV with a built-in DVD. If the TV goes bad, no watching DVD's and if the DVD goes out, you have no alternative viewing options. Still, the HTC is a great looking car and still mimics the coupe aside from seeing the motor. I think I told you last year having the Coupe allows you to see the jewelry inside the jewel case, where as the HTC there's nothing to talk about, and technically they're both convertibles, just one is manual and the other is automatic. My buddy just bought a Torch Red HTC from Corvette World-Houston and drove it to Alabama, and then back here to Indy. He's done a few things within the first week of ownership like tint, ceramic coating, powder coating the painted split spokes to black and taking a CFB front splitter off my hands. The car really looks great and I hope to get a chance to make some first hand comparisons as you did, some time in the near future before cold weather sets in.
Hey you are completely right I do have concerns if the hard top convertible messes up or break. And you are right about being able to see the motor. I do believe I’ll wait to see the engine bay of the Z06 before making any choice on the car.
@@cgarnerspeed252 esthetically I don't think there will be that much more difference in looking through the back glass at motors. People look through the glass and have no real clue what they're looking at. With the glass glare, dark shadows etc.... it's a motor in a Corvette. When you kick the ballistics, it just comes down to whether or not you want to have an auto top or manual. I've only had my top off a few times and just got the glass top so I can have that sky view at all times. Realistically, I'm keeping what I have. I can't see the extra ponies for city streets. I don't track and I don't need State Farm running me as a higher risk associated with pleasure or a hobby. Now that I've done all the things to my whip, it's the dream car for me and once I get the new intake on, I'm done. I'll count my blessings, enjoy the ride and find myself some new roads.
Tell CGarnerSpeed252, with the convertible, you get two cars in one. You have a hard top look & a no top look. That should be the main option anyone could have.

I own a C6 and I love to take the top off but as soon my wife or my kids wants to ride I have to put it back and that takes a lot of the fun, but I just put my order for the C8 and it’s a convertible baby 💯 love in it!!!

I love my 2021 Hard top convertible 2LT Z51 car. I was just going to buy a coup until the Z06 was available. I was going to wait a year and buy the 2023 Z06. But now with this convertible car I’m pretty happy. People are complaining about fit and finish. My car is flawless. Z51 and K&N air filter gives you over 500HP. The car is leaps and bounds better than my C7 Z06 manual 3LZ car which is 660 HP. That car is death on wheels. The new one a 15 year old pregnant, blind, Asian woman could drive on a race track.
First off, love both of ur channels. I’m going for the HTC. I had a ‘97 TA convertible for 20 years and never had a problem with the top. Not too worried about the mechanics. I had been thinking about the Ferrari California which are all HTCs. But for ~$30k less I’d rather have a new car vs a 12 year old car. Thanks for the thoughts on the mag ride. I wasn’t sure if I should get it with Z51 but I’d like to do some road trips w my wife so tour mode w the mag ride would make it more comfortable for her.
Thanks for the videos! You both have good points some that I've thought about which is why I'm ordering mine as a coupe, non Z51 but with the magnetic ride, yellow calipers/seat belts, and color accents. Also a 1LT with standard wheels no NPP exhaust, splitter and wing. I will have aftermarket wheels, sport cats, exhaust, black rear grills and aero.

One thought I had is the accent color option is reasonably priced and would be easier for me to vinyl carbon flash in those areas than to have paint matched. Also to be different because I think there's more without this option. I like the side vent painted anyways.
For my C8 I did a full court press and put together the cash to buy my 2020 C8 coupe out right. Now the only temptation is not to sell for a profit and chase a brand new C8 2022 for list price. I love the one I have to much to let go. Buying it out right was an accomplishment I am very proud of! A C8 Stingray in Elkhart Lake Blue with an Adrenaline Red interior is more rare then any Z51 built and on 93 octane it is faster! CG we share similar thoughts. Going from C7Z Vert to C8 Coupe, I do miss the convenience of 1 button retractable top tho. But the coupe allows me to cool the engine bay quickly by leaving the hatch up after hard driving & Seeing & dressing up that engine/engine bay 🔥. I did not like being limited by HTC (certain HF Cats etc) and I'm in Florida.
Great vid! I have a 23 Red Mist HTC on the way. Very big decision between the two. I may spend about 5k in 5years keeping a coupe clean though...lol... It is nice looking at a CLEAN ENGINE in the coupe. However, the HTC will cost a little extra in modding labor wise. There us a fix to seeing the engine in the coupe though. All said to me the HTC with those nacelles just look bad ass next to the coupe. The coupe rear was giving me camaro vibes..lol... great vid!
Hey fellas I appreciate the collaboration, but I love the convertible.... it's so convenient especially if I want the top off for driving and want it up to secure the vehicle while I run in the store briefly. Also I like the ability to keep my trunk space, participate in long road trips or events like rallies and carry luggage while the top is off and put it up if the weather suddenly changes.....looking at the motor is cool for car meets but it gets old quick and something I don't miss not having
I'm good, I don't want you to get in an argument about the two vehicles but I think you should do a video with a convertible owner so you can both explain your view points...
One down side to the HTC is you cannot raise the top should you need to after you have left the car ie eating inside a restaurant , quick laundry drop off, walk the kids to school from parking lot. If ever it should instantaneously rain or a flock of birds drop berry juice.lol.

Okay, the problem I have is that I'll be moving to Thailand in a few years. Their steering wheel is on the right side. I've heard that they will be making right hand drive but do you know when?

So does the htc get the water in the engine bay like the coupe. Mine on order is the 23 htc in Elkhart lake blue for now. But I’m seriously thinking pearl metallic now. Another great video here.

Did you wrap the nacelles and roof after the fact or did you have the rearview camera area on the roof custom painted rapid blue for the contrast? Looks good that way.

Great Video!!!! We need more true and bias review videos like this. Hopefully you’ll be able to dissect the C8 ZO6 when you get your hands on it. Hopefully you’ll be able to give us Dimensions like width and height And whether or not we are going to be able to get the ZO6 without negative camber. You know how all of us that have the C7 grand sport and Z06 have issues with the negative camber on the streets. Hopefully you’ll be able to do a video in comparison with the C7 ZO6 and C8 ZO6….hopefully it’ll answer some questions for us.
Have the camber taken out. I did and for DD the car made a huge difference in the tire wear. I never track my car. The car will still out drive most drivers without the camber. Plus save you a couple thousand a year on replacing tires so often.
I've had 2 convertibles in my lifetime 🤣 I WANT a C8 convertible. I'm lazy and don't want to pull the roof off and put it in the trunk or "oh,looks like rain soon,let me pull over" I had an 87 Monte SS with T-Tops, if everything is great, then they're amazing 😂 when it looks like crappy weather coming or it rains on you, pulling over to do everything SUCKS
He’s dead wrong about wind noise vs coupe. Yes there’s more wind, obviously since it’s totally open. But it’s much less annoying wind noise than the coupe bc the coupe starts buffeting and building pressure at higher speeds 75+ and is unbearable at about 90. If you want top down convertible is the best. But if you know you’ll only use the top down rarely, get the coupe. It’s 75% of the convertible experience. Especially on road trips where you can’t put your roof in the trunk bc you have bags or something in there already
$7500 is worth it for a htc if ur already spending this much money on a car of this caliber. Htc and couple look completely different from each other and the htc has a much more exotic look to it than a coupe.

Does HTC stand for Hard Top Convertible? How many electric motors does a C8 convertible have? To raise it and lower it. I have heard 6 electric motors....but want to be sure. I wonder if the many complexities of this convertible will lower the reliability issues of this convertible model. Imagine if just one of these 6 electric motors stops functioning then you are stuck and have a huge and expensive problem. I would instead pick the Coupe, save money as the Coupe costs $7,500 less than the more expensive convertible, avoid all the ugly and irritating wind noise and definitely have a more reliable and trouble free car compared to the much more risky and expensive convertible model. This is just my personal take.
Concerned about wind noise in a convertible? It is like saying I'm concerned about getting wet if I just into a swimming pool. I like the video anyways.
Too many moving parts, the way cars are built today, I don't think the builders put the absolute best in materials. I see the convertibles as a 7 or 8 year car before problems start setting in.

Great vid! I have a 23 Red Mist HTC on the way. Very big decision between the two. I may spend about 5k in 5years keeping a coupe clean though...lol... It is nice looking at a CLEAN ENGINE in the coupe. However, the HTC will cost a little extra in modding labor wise. There us a fix to seeing the engine in the coupe though. All said to me the HTC with those nacelles just look bad ass next to the coupe. The coupe rear was giving me camaro vibes..lol... great vid!
Hey fellas I appreciate the collaboration, but I love the convertible.... it's so convenient especially if I want the top off for driving and want it up to secure the vehicle while I run in the store briefly. Also I like the ability to keep my trunk space, participate in long road trips or events like rallies and carry luggage while the top is off and put it up if the weather suddenly changes.....looking at the motor is cool for car meets but it gets old quick and something I don't miss not having

One down side to the HTC is you cannot raise the top should you need to after you have left the car ie eating inside a restaurant , quick laundry drop off, walk the kids to school from parking lot. If ever it should instantaneously rain or a flock of birds drop berry juice.lol.

Did you wrap the nacelles and roof after the fact or did you have the rearview camera area on the roof custom painted rapid blue for the contrast? Looks good that way.

Great Video!!!! We need more true and bias review videos like this. Hopefully you’ll be able to dissect the C8 ZO6 when you get your hands on it. Hopefully you’ll be able to give us Dimensions like width and height And whether or not we are going to be able to get the ZO6 without negative camber. You know how all of us that have the C7 grand sport and Z06 have issues with the negative camber on the streets. Hopefully you’ll be able to do a video in comparison with the C7 ZO6 and C8 ZO6….hopefully it’ll answer some questions for us.
Have the camber taken out. I did and for DD the car made a huge difference in the tire wear. I never track my car. The car will still out drive most drivers without the camber. Plus save you a couple thousand a year on replacing tires so often.

I've had 2 convertibles in my lifetime 🤣 I WANT a C8 convertible. I'm lazy and don't want to pull the roof off and put it in the trunk or "oh,looks like rain soon,let me pull over" I had an 87 Monte SS with T-Tops, if everything is great, then they're amazing 😂 when it looks like crappy weather coming or it rains on you, pulling over to do everything SUCKS
He’s dead wrong about wind noise vs coupe. Yes there’s more wind, obviously since it’s totally open. But it’s much less annoying wind noise than the coupe bc the coupe starts buffeting and building pressure at higher speeds 75+ and is unbearable at about 90.
If you want top down convertible is the best. But if you know you’ll only use the top down rarely, get the coupe. It’s 75% of the convertible experience. Especially on road trips where you can’t put your roof in the trunk bc you have bags or something in there already

$7500 is worth it for a htc if ur already spending this much money on a car of this caliber. Htc and couple look completely different from each other and the htc has a much more exotic look to it than a coupe.

Does HTC stand for Hard Top Convertible?
How many electric motors does a C8 convertible have? To raise it and lower it.
I have heard 6 electric motors....but want to be sure.
I wonder if the many complexities of this convertible will lower the reliability issues of this convertible model.
Imagine if just one of these 6 electric motors stops functioning then you are stuck and have a huge and expensive problem.
I would instead pick the Coupe, save money as the Coupe costs $7,500 less than the more expensive convertible, avoid all the ugly and irritating wind noise and definitely have a more reliable and trouble free car compared to the much more risky and expensive convertible model.
This is just my personal take.
Concerned about wind noise in a convertible? It is like saying I'm concerned about getting wet if I just into a swimming pool. I like the video anyways.

Too many moving parts, the way cars are built today, I don't think the builders put the absolute best in materials. I see the convertibles as a 7 or 8 year car before problems start setting in.

Have you heard of Sigala Designs? They make an LED the fits on the split part for the grill that works with the lights and blinkers. Let me know if you get more info on them
