    What do you suggest to clean your engine bay?
    Appreciate your videos as idk much about vehicles but have made several mods to my 2019 nissan frontier wirh the help of your videos. Ive enjoyed it 😊

      Hello, I usually just clean the engine when I wash the vehicle. The mild car wash will not hurt anything if you’re careful. Try and cover the alternator and battery as much as possible. They will still get water around them. Using a soft wash mitt just run over everything and rinse it down. If you can blow it down when done but if not it’s ok. let the engine warm up or take it for a drive. When it’s all dry I like to spray tire dressing around the engine bay. No need to wipe it down. It will look like new again. I’m sure there are other ways to do this but this works for me! Thanks for watching!!
      Be safe and have fun with that truck!

    ought to try a intake manifold spacer, coupled with a cat back it made a nice change in the tq curve in my 18 frontier.

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  3 года назад +1

      Yes I’ve seen the intake manifold spacer from XTP. I liked it but I didn’t have time for shipping. It was the perfect time to install though. Maybe next time. Thanks for watching. Is there build video of your truck?

      Did you need to tune it ? Looking at a frontier and noticed a spacer on the throttle body. Scared to even keep looking at trucks with mods to engine even if they are just bolt ons

    • @DIYWilly

      @nunezgabriel98 No tuning required.

    I hear the whistle sound. it sounds pretty good. I think I hear something else too. Do I hear the whoosh air intake sound from the volant cooler?

      Yes most definitely. I think the Volant is louder.

    Throttle body spacer does actually nothing except lighten your wallet of $150 for a shiny piece of aluminum. I work in a CNC shop, I could 3D model/ design that in less than 15 minutes and make a program to machine it in about the same time. I could make one for $20 worth of material, even less because I could probably find a scrap piece of aluminum around the shop big enough to do it. Even though I could make it so easily and cheaply, the fact it does literally nothing still doesn't make it worth my time or energy. It's a snake oil product. The *only* proven gains on the VQ40 are through intake/exhaust, header and tuning. Anything else is a waste and has already been optimized by Nissan when it was designed.
    Some of them like the AirRaid version have a helix which they tout as creating a tornado 🌪 in your intake. Hate to break it to you, but after the spacer spins up the air, it still has to pass through the throttle plate which will be open some random amount depending on throttle input, plus snake it's way through the intake and runners and valves. If you're stupid enough to believe that the air maintains that swirl motion all the way through the intake path, where it changes direction multiple times, well then you're exactly who they have catered this product to.

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  2 года назад +1

      Nice write up. I agree with the snake oil bit. And I believe I say something to those regards in the video. The VQ40 intake plenum actually has a grid pattern molded in right after the throttle body. This grid would straighten out any swirling effects created by the spacer allowing the air to flow smoothly through the plenum. Yes it’s a $150 “Snake Oil Product” but it makes a cool whistling sound. 😁 Thanks for watching…. Snake oil 😂 I haven’t heard that in years!! I enjoyed ready that thanks.

    Throttle body spacers are useless on engines with multi-port fuel injection. They do have some benefit on engines with carbs or TBI.

    Also forgot to as in the last post, your air intake, the box/filter, do you see any performance with that add on? The volant?

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  3 года назад +1

      Yes you can notice improved performance with the Volant. Really wakes up the already powerful engine.

  • @user-fz2ul7wl2d

    I don't see how this spacer would give an engine more power ?
    I think that this is just another so called, RUclips, HACK, UPGRADE, item.
    People get so sucked into shit like this. No way that it gives an engine more power.
    The only thing I did to my engine was dropped in an high flow air filter. Not for the GHOST, hp gain but the simple fact that it is washable and will last the life of the engine, that's it.

      Yes I agree!! Most of these mods are link the old snake oil that cure everything. However this at least adds some bling to the appearance of under the hood. Thanks for watching!!

    Hello sr....thanks for your videos help me a lot ....I have a question you know is I can install a custom intake manifold and were I can find it I have 2010 Nissan frontier v6 4.0L engine manual 7 speed transmission

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  3 года назад +2

      Thank you for the comment and I’m glad my videos have helped you. I’m not aware of any performance upgrade intake manifolds for the NISSAN 4.0 V6. The only options we have are the intake spacers. There is one for the throttle body, like the one I installed, and one to fit between lower and upper intake manifolds made by XTP. There are many cold air intakes available but please sure and get a quality one. Then of course headers can really wake up the engines by freeing up the restricted exhaust. Also if you have done mods to the engine you can find some to send the ECU to for tuning with UpRev. My son did install the Pedal Commander and well he says it made a huge difference in how the truck runs. Being much more responsive. I believe NISSAN under rates these engines anyway to stay in this truck class. Far as I know these are our only options. Again thanks for the comment and that was a great question. Hope this helps and get out there and enjoy modding that truck.

    Did you relearn throttle body idle air? I’ve always been told anytime you touch the throttle body, even if cleaning it, you need to relearn the idle air flow, or else motor can burn lean or rich lowering fuel and power.. good to know, have you seen any performance increases from this and or mileage improvement? Also where did you find this part?

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  3 года назад +3

      Didn’t need to relearn anything the truck ran perfectly. I’ve had the throttle body off a few times without any problems. I believe that’s a concern when you install a new throttle body and the computer needs to relearn the parameters of the new part. Also honestly I didn’t notice any real improvements but I don’t drive the truck very often. However I did notice considerable changes with the Pedal Commander I installed. Thanks for watch and asking a great question.

    • @311mdub
      @311mdub 3 года назад +1

      DIY Willy id suggest relearning it, it takes 5-10 min to do, and wouldn’t hurt to do honestly. I hope you have more frontier vids in the pipeline, I have an xterra same gen and enjoy seeing others modifications and get real reviews vs some 5 star review online. Do you have any other videos? I think one of them you said you add a leaf the back leaf pack, thay is my very next upgrade to do, just did upper/lower control arms, tie rods, sway end links and waiting on cross drilled vented rotors to arrive to then replace brakes and front wheel bearings at same time. Might try out the pedal commander per previous video, curious what a peppy xterra would feel like! Enjoy the vids man, got a new subscriber! Thanks- Mike from Utah

      Thanks for the suggestion I will research the relearning of the throttle body. Also I’ve had subscribers tell me they her the timing chain whine. So I’ll be replacing the timing components soon.

    i ordered the one for my car , but like mine , yours did not come with termal gaskets , whats does it mean? Do i have to get one or ?...( Termal gasket)

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  4 года назад +2

      If I understand what your asking? Then the original gasket on the plenum and the O-ring on the Throttle body spacer is all you need. The factory gasket is reusable.

      @@DIYWilly okay , thanks , but i see trottle body kits that comes with 2 termal gaskets , one each side the trottle body spacer .

      the kit i ordered have no termal gasket like others kits , just de 0 ring , bolt and the spacer , iguess termal gasket each side is not a must

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  4 года назад +1

      Just reuse the stock/original gasket on intake plenum and the spacer has an O-ring that will seal against the throttle body.
