This is so cool , this is my favourite of all time I had a Tamiya Midnight Pumpkin back in the 80s it was so much fun with wheelies etc Fantastic build love your channel 😄👍🏻
Yep it's from that kind of driving family. Half out of control while zooming around on the rough stuff. It's all part of the fun with these types of trucks.
When applying decals, use a drop of dishwasher liquid in a small bowl w 1/4 cup of water. Wet surface if body were you will apply decal the dip deaclnin water as well, set decal in place. If you screw it up, you can lift and try again, when happy with placement, gently squeegee water out from under decal with a paper towel and let dry.
Dont remember how long it took me to build mine but I always like to take my time so I can enjoy building them. I still have 3 cars to build been sitting on the shelf for 4 years or longer now
TBLE-02S can take 10,5R brushless motor with a fan with no problems and it works great with 23T brushed. HW 1060 is a gamble with quality control. TBLE-02S is ok with Lipos if you use Low Voltage Alarm, so no problem there either.
I recommend the GPM shocks (and most other GPM upgrades). I had the shapeways 3d printed A arms, and destroyed them first run. Now using the GPM aluminum ones plus a bunch of there other CW-01 parts. I run the shapeways rear suspension thingy though, and an aluminum cross brace on the front end. For a motor I have a Tamiya BZ Superstock hooked to a Hobbywing 1060 using lipo batteries. It's fast and super fun to drive.
Great build video as usual. Funny coincidence: I have a lunchbox that's fitted with every single upgrade that you mentioned during your build, with the exception of the servo mount upgrade. Additionally, it has a diff locking block and an extended lower rear shock brace from Shapeways as well. Very fun build.
I ended up wining two cases of vintage motors last night. One was a lot of trinity motors and one was a lot of kyosho motors. I’ll try to make a video about them when they arrive. Figure it might be a good first video to start my channel of on.
This was the first kit my girlfreind and i built she wanted the black edition and i got the chrome one. She enjoyed it so much that now she wants to do another one together so she pick the rally vw.
Can you still get the working head lights for this kit? Great fun just as its getting dark. I built one of these in an hour and a half when I was 13. I painted mine purple. I sprayed the body first and had the battery on charge as I built the rest of the kit. I had built a few RC cars before this that were much more complicated so this was a walk in the park. The large handled black screw drivers from Tamiya are great as they give more leverage which came in handy as I was a small 13 year old. The black side cutters Tamiya make are good too. I always used Vaseline as grease. I don't know if that's good but none of my cars have ever sounded dry or had anything wear out. During construction I installed metal bearings instead of the nylon ones. I did upgrade to oil filled shocks . To stiffen the springs you can add ball point pen Springs on the shaft. I recall having 20 plus minutes of run time with the stock motor.
Hello. I enjoy your videos so much. I'm not a fan of the "monster trucks" They have so much unsprung weight, that suspension is all in the tires. Regards, Jesper from denmark
Thanks Gavin again I hope that wasn't me calling you LoL that was pretty funny I'm glad how you can be creative you should have did the build with your son I think that's a perfect first car for a young person great choice and color and the looks and the timing it was a great video I'm going to watch it again tonight and I'll add some more on my comment see you soon buddy that pinion gear not funny look at how long that thing is that thing is special I never even seen a pinion gear like that fire and lightning Gavin's worst decals I'm just going to put this out there I vote for Gavin for president I love me a old Ford and the Chrome with the fire that's just Overkill just an awesome build overall don't forget to put the scrunchies in the tires I wonder if RPM makes a bumper for that truck the mysterious midnight pumpkin I think I did a video on this 1 now I want a tattoo that says bits and pieces LOL we love your sayings Gavin
Hi, I have a vintage midnight pumpkin, and wanted to update the electronics, it currently has a 280 type motor and some really old style receiver/ESC/speed controller all in one. Could someone steer me in the right direction to upgrade all of this and also the steering servo too please? Help would be much appreciated. Battery wise, it runs on 8 AA batteries that are housed in a latch underneath the car.
This kit is worth buying just for the body. The rest of it just barely lands in the world of hobby grade. That plastic chassis really looks like a Chinese toy. Phillips head screws are never a good sign, ha. Still love many of these old rigs though.
@@RCKickschannel okay I've built it already...if I was going to fully upgrade it motor servo bearings the ones I've got are plastic?? Any ideas, can u supply?
I've had one for 30 years. Very tough and fun kit
Just bought one for my sons upcoming 5th birthday, thanks for helping me pull the pin on the purchase!!! Love the vids as always, keep it up, thanks!
I must get a chrome pumpkin in my life 🎃 😊
Excellent video as always, really enjoyed it! I had a Lunch Box many years ago, absolutely loved it!! Can't wait for the next video!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Brilliant little truck there...
I think that you should do a mini segment on the channel, reactions to other peoples r/c cars.
HaHa. Building one right now but I am a bit older than 7 or so. Thanks for your awesome videos.
Love the ‘on bench’ camera perspective Gavin. Makes me feel more involved.
Thanks. It ups the editing time substantially but I think it adds to the video.
I have a bone stock wild Willy 2 and for as simple as it is, I really enjoy it.
It’s just a fun little RC to bash around.
I am gonna do Halloween Pumpkin build too. I love your content. I watch all of your videos. You have a great personality.
This is so cool , this is my favourite of all time I had a Tamiya Midnight Pumpkin back in the 80s it was so much fun with wheelies etc
Fantastic build love your channel 😄👍🏻
"It wheelies and bounces around" Sound just like the Wild Willy.
Yep it's from that kind of driving family. Half out of control while zooming around on the rough stuff. It's all part of the fun with these types of trucks.
@@RCKickschannel u get more lol out of the wild willy m38 car
Brilliant! Love the into! 😀👍
Thanks! 😀
I just stripped, cleaned and rebuilt my original one yesterday. It was a lot easier than I remember it being 33 years ago...
When I was 13 😂

This was my first hobby grade, awesome little truck. My only complaint is breaking body mounts everytime I rolled it 💯👍
Dont remember how long it took me to build mine but I always like to take my time so I can enjoy building them. I still have 3 cars to build been sitting on the shelf for 4 years or longer now
I think we all have some boxes and unfinished projects, it kind of comes with the RC hobby LOL.

I think that's a good comment Cosmo and one for a video.
Love these speed build challenges! Awesome video!
Cool... I just upload my midnight pumpkin (crome)

Boing Boing Boing!!! A classic gloriously funny out of control buggy :)
I almost bought this , but I got a TT 02 kit car ,might get this later when I have the funds, really enjoyed 👊👍🏻
You crack me up love the vids 😂🤣🤣😂💀💀
Please build a Schumacher cougar, i think you will find it really nice and a fairly pleasant build
I would love a vintage Cougar 2000 rere thats for sure.
I've always liked the Pumpkin but never bought one. Think I should get one.

You are lucky I cant get my wife interested in any of the fun shit I like to do lololol

Sports tuned or torque tuned?
Those stickers can be a bit tricky
What happened to best to keep them standard?
Can you tell me where you got the servo mount kit from. Thanks
It was scratch built by someone on one of the facebook groups.
@@RCKickschannel ok thats good to know, because I've searched all over no joy
I own two LB's but still fancy owning a Pumpkin.
Great video! I'm thinking of getting one. Is it true that the esc that comes with it can't handle a sport tuned or anything faster?
Sports tuned will be fine
@RCKickschannel Thanks!
Where did you get that steering kit for the midnight pumpkin and what is the part number for it
A guy in the facebook forum made them a few years ago.
I really need servo for this kit

What is the music "she's calling me" gav
I pay a monthly subscription to www.epidemicsound.com/ for all my music.

I never saw any grease go inside the gearbox?🤨
Yep it got some like normal
Not also half hour you take to build
😁
Where are you based mate can you leave me your contact details...I'll like my new midnight pumpkin fully upgraded motor servo etc
I'm in Bedfordshire UK. I don't build kits for others unfortunately due to time restraints.

Oof it took me 10 hours to build mine
You really are very silly. 😂🤣😂🤔
yep! :)
Please stop using horrible music with lyrics. Love the videos but the music makes them painful to listen to.
Sorry about that.
