Glad to see that I am not the only one who is so crazy replacing the original screws with stainless or special screws. And cutting threads for the metric screws into the parts too. Your working space is so neat. Mine is so awfully crowded. I admire your style. No bullshit talking, discreet music and no loud crappy stuff. Watching your videos is like Zen Buddhism of RC modelling.
This car was one of my father's dream radio-controlled cars when he was a child. It was very expensive and not something that a child could afford, so he eventually gave up on buying it. I can't believe it's 30 years old, but it's so stylish.
Probably the most beautiful RC ever made. And you made it even more appealing! This is just stunning. The Egress quickly made it to the top of my to buy list when I can swing it!
I find your videos to be really relaxing and the builds always turn out to be masterpieces. I enjoy this hobby immensely, just got into it again after more than 20 years away from it, but I lack the patience to put this much detail into my builds :D Keep them coming, always looking forward to a notification that you uploaded a new video :)
Thank you, Lutz Mowinski! Appreciate the kind words, encouragement, and support! Glad you're back into the hobby and I hope you're taking your time to enjoy it :)!
Use your imagination for your builds bro that's the beauty of this hobby, you won't need patience when your creating something your way. You have all the time you need.
This reminds me of when I built my Losi 22T a few years ago. I took my time and worked on it on the weekends. It took me about a month, but it was beautiful and I felt so accomplished. Took it to my local track and it drove better than it looked. I miss this hobby and living near a RC track in Tacoma WA.
The style of letterings on the tires, and the red hex wheel nut in conjunction with the red paint stripes make this Egress so much nicer. I think the gold upgrades on the various connectors are nice too. The lighting, camera angles and back ground music made your video very relaxing to watch.
When it comes to classic RC cars I have always been a fiercely staunch box art guy. With this I think you may have turned me... stunning build, absolutely stunning!
Incredible - love the OEM++ vibes. Really love watching these videos. After picking up the hobby again as an adult due to lockdown this is really inspiring me to put an extra level of care and thought into my own builds!
Wow! So good. Oozes quality…Great eye and attention to detail. Thankyou for the description and also keen to see details of the electric screwdrivers and tools used during your build and how you die the wheels black!
Impressive. Your attention to detail, the methodical way you perform each step, and the end results... amazing. Keep them coming, I can't get enough of these builds.
@@MechanicAfterHours it's a great thing it's so beautiful I wouldn't even want to drive it well perhaps on a tennis court where there's no dirt I wish we could post pictures have a few gems in my collection
Since seeing your interpretation of the super astute, I’ve learnt how to de-pin plugs and now smoke/ black heat shrink all my wires. Also, I will now apply the score and snap technique to my future builds Thanks for inspiring me to go next level.
Thanks, Eddienervous1! And thank you for watching. Glad there are some techniques to learn from, from the videos. If you have some spare lexan/polycarbonate, try and practice on those first. The hobby is a fine one and I'm also still learning new things on the way with every build. Good luck!
Thanks for the reply. I keep most of my useable polycarbonate cut offs, I make custom spoilers out of them and planned on one day making canards/ aero fins to apply to the right buggy. Can I ask where you purchase the carbon sheets? I’d like to try a wide body avante, next build. I have one black and 2 standard NIB ready to roll. I’ve just finished my super astute and about to start a Tamiya 1/25 RC panzer tank for something different. Thanks again 🙏🏼

I've watched this several times and I'm still amazed at your vision and precise execution of not only this build, but all your other creations... I started out in RC as a very young lad in the very early 80's with a Rough Rider, then bought and painted a Sand Scorcher body when I smashed the original, then upgraded (downgraded) to a Grasshopper when that was released. Wow, what a mistake, the power of the box-art fooled a very young me. My friend, on the other hand, went from a Frog to a HOTSHOT. And THAT car blew my mind. I personally believe the Hotshot was a groundbreaker because it enabled my best friend to humiliate some of the older "snobs" at our local track (who all had RC10's) by winning a third place in his first race! Long story but I now have a Hotshot after nearly 40years and I'd love to see your interpretation...... if not, carry on the good work anyway, I'll still watch hahaha
Thanks, Kester Stott! I appreciate the comment and message! That Rough Rider is an iconic piece of kit and part of RC history-it's truly what started the off-road RC buggy scene and got other brands into building their own off-road buggies. I've definitely thought about the Hot Shot many times and maybe one day will do a build.
When I was a kid, it was the RC to have, now you’ve brought it back with some incredible custom creativity! Well done, am almost wanting to go RC as a kid was just something too expensive to purchase back in the day.
Thanks, Lazlo! And thank you for watching. I agree with you, it was one to have as a kid back in the day but it was just out of reach for most of us. I would always stare at it thru the hobby store window.

Tamiya Egress is just one of the best 4wd buggy ever, and you've made it look even better, great job, a thing of beauty, i also liked your blitzer beetle and kyosho javelin.
Wow, again, what an impressing build! Love your imagination/theme and how you transferred it to nowadays! It simply doesn´t look old, which is a compliment for the Tamiya designers. Their 90´s buggies just have so much style... Again 10 from 10 points from me!!!
Thanks, ruebiracers channel! Really appreciate the comments. Yes, it's a great base design to start with and always when I think of how old the Egress is I'm always impressed. Thank you for watching.
1st car I built @10 years old was a Big Wig . Wish I could afford another but it will have to wait. Just got back to it after 15 years and as I watch this I'm building a TT02R . Love Tamiya
@@MechanicAfterHours the truth is I envy at you. Thanks! I've seen Filipinos with some really nice RCs and more than what I have. It's probably just all relative-I've also seen people around the world with 3-4 Egresses alone and I only have one! And some with every single Tamiya RC release. Never had an RC when I was young because like you said, it's an expensive hobby.
Really great workmanship, creativity and well captured in this video! I think it's your best one so far! I'm just watching it now third time, there is so many details to pick up in it, so much to learn.

Please, keep up the incredible work. Cheers.
Thanks again for watching! I posted something and it got deleted! Re-typing if I can remember all of it. I just wanted to say that I do come across problems too. On this build there where a few things that didn't fit nicely The other thing was the vintage ESC-I cleaned the circuit board and even re soldered some parts of the board and it still ended up glitchy. It runs but it needs to be replaced at some point. The motor's capacitor was broken and I tried to fix it because I couldn't find a replacement. However, I think because I have worked on 1:1 cars as a hobby some of these things I can power through. Bodies are still my least favorite for now. What I did was try to work on some challenging bodies in the beginning, like the TC-01(that was a tad insane) and the Beetle hard body. After working on those two, the rest seems easy. The Ultima is a sweet kit! I think that one has a really good balance of vintage and performance. Good luck with it!
@@MechanicAfterHours - Thanks. I agree on the vintage vs. performance comparison; it was ahead of its time in so many ways. I have the bulk of the build complete at this point, and was even able to finish the decals last night. Just a motor to fit and then testing/adjustments. It will most likely be a shelf queen anyway, so I don't know why I even bothered with electronics of any sort. Oh well.
Great videos, i appreciate the fact that you strive for perfection in every detail. At first i questioned your choice on replacing the self tapping screws with stainless machine screws but i understand that you are not a fan of the Phillips head kit screws. Following this i thought okay but then you could use titanium machine screws but they wouldn't add to the build because ultimately you are building a show-piece. The RWB influence also hasn't gone unnoticed. Kudos on all the details.
This bar none is the sickest Egress ever to be assembled. I must build one for myself . The carbon , silver , gloss black with all the zink hardware is extremely elegant and all works together. Once I do one I think I'd go dry carbon ( dull) gloss black with all the aluminum anodized blood red a deep dark blood red instead of the zink
Thanks, Randy Slagle! And thank you for watching! That would be interesting to see with the red anodized alloy parts. Good luck with the build when you get to it!
Hey Man! I finally got some time to watch. This has to be one of the best looking RC buggies I have ever seen. Hands down it is gorgeous. Must have been fun to build. I like the history behind the build, reminds me of all the different RCs I craved throughout my own RC life. Congrats on the 191K views, a testament to your quality vids and builds. Take care👍🏾
Thanks, 3T- RC! I appreciate the comment as always. It was a fun build but I wish the hard plastics are reinforced plastics like on the Tamiya TRF line. This is probably one kit especially any Tamiya enthusiast should at least build in their lifetime. It's up there with all the other iconic kits from other brands form that RC golden age period. Hope all is well!
You've just reminded me why I have to own an Egress one day. It's only my favourite Tamiya ever. 40:40 is the money shot for me, but it's just so sexy from every angle. Love your work
You are amazing at building !!! The Egress and Astute are work of art. You should do more of the high-end models. I am drooling here. Subscribing right away.
Best on technical, great on body art, great filming and also great pictures. Love the caption descriptions, really useful. I hope for a racing touring or formula. Great channel!
I wish I had such a neat workplace like you have...With an uncomfortable cold workplace in the basement, one can´t really enjoy the hobby as much as it would be possible...I´ll have to change that this year !
Thanks, 19Marc79! And thank you for watching. I think the grass is greener on the other side :). I'd love to have a basement where I can remodel and set it up for RC building. My space for the RC hobby/building is only 1.5 meters x 1.5m (or 5ft x 5ft) ;).

It's very attractive and I just watched it. I don't usually watch production videos. It was a nice video!
Thank you! Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching.
this is a piece of art nice craftmanship the way you put it togerther nice job thank you for the great video really thanks bye for now my friend
Amazing construction - perfection! 😊. I hope you make some more videos soon!! 😎👌👌
Thanks, hoping to upload a build soon
That is stunning. As others have commented, the OEM++ vibe is perfectly judged, even the red wheel hub screws 👌
Thanks, 0836whimper! Thank you for the kind comment and for watching!
amazing work! just wow. takes me back seeing vintage rc
Thanks, Nicholas Vinkler! And thanks for watching.
Thanks, Trevor Jansen! I appreciate the observations, kind words and comment. And thank you for watching!
Absolute stunning job, you´re welcome...
That was over the top good . I Enjoy watching your videos.
Thanks, Eric! Thanks for the support and comments!
Nice cool rc, Tamiya is the best.
Superb video. Absolutely stunning. I really enjoy your videos.
Thanks, RC Retro! Appreciate it and thanks for watching-I enjoy your videos too :)!
Love your videos. Wish I had the cash, time and skill to make some builds like yours. Inspirational.
Thanks, Johnny Coolness and thank you watching. I understand.
Love your work
Thanks again! Definitely an Egress is a must :)
40:17
Wow. Beautiful. I wish I had that monster. Good work.
Thanks, Johnny Pistol! And thank you for watching.
Absolutely incredible my friend 😍😍😍
Thanks, Glenn! Appreciate it. By the way, love your Madcap restoration!
The only comment that fits your work here sir is just "Bravo Bravo" !
Thank you, S andrew Carson! And thanks for watching.
Stunning it’s like a work of art , best RC maker I have seen 👍🏻
Thanks! And thank you for watching.
You are amazing at building !!! The Egress and Astute are work of art. You should do more of the high-end models. I am drooling here. Subscribing right away.
Thank you, 00 Seismic! Appreciate the sub and thanks for watching. What other high-end models do you recommend? Quite curious.
@@MechanicAfterHours It could be models such as the Yokomo YZ-10 and Losi XX
Got it. I actually have a Yokomo 870c (YZ-10) in line. But not the Losi JRX series--missed out on that.
@@MechanicAfterHours looking forward
Best on technical, great on body art, great filming and also great pictures. Love the caption descriptions, really useful. I hope for a racing touring or formula. Great channel!
Thanks, Enrico DC! Appreciate the nice words. I do have an F1 and Touring on the list of kits to finish!
That is the most beautiful rc car i have ever seen! if only Tamiya made an Egress 2/evolution and it was like this.
Thanks, Paul Taylor! Appreciate it and thanks for watching! I do wish that they'd make an Egress 2
@@MechanicAfterHoursAh, I see ! Maybe that´s why everything is so neatly packed and oganized in your videos. With 2,25 square meters, one HAS TO have perfect order :)
What an awesome looking build ! Best so far ..
Thanks, Kaos R.C! And thank you for watching.
@@MechanicAfterHours no worries , just subbed also ... you have some amazing looking rc's!
Thank you!
Lovely car well done x
Thanks, Dave Robins! And thank you for watching.
So cool to start with the footage
I love those tyres, they would look amazing on an full size real buggy 👍
Thanks, Li'l Pete's Workshop! I agree :)
neat work mate! WOW!
Thanks, Asyraf Tojiman! And thank you for watching!
After watching your video i had to order me one of these kits, Cheers!
Thanks, Crypto Titan! Good luck with the build, it's a cool vintage kit!
Love the work as always!! The custom Egress is stunning
Thanks again, graham aker! Appreciate it and thank for you watching.
What a machine.... Could watch this on repeat 😍
Thanks, p c! And thank you for watching.
Subbed your workshop is spotless just how I like it when I build an engine. 👍🏻
Thanks, Jo Ski! Appreciate the sub and thanks for watching.
