This is one of my fav youtube videos I've ever seen. Please keep this channel going. You are very insperational. I hope everything is alright in your life.
After a 20 years break i am about to get back into this awesome hobby. I am glad that youtube recommended me your videos, i am just speechless. You are an absolute master in what you are doing. Your builds are beyond perfect. I hope you are fine and will post some videos in the future.
Welcome back to the hobby. It’s a fun and good time to be around it nowadays. Thanks for the message. Hopefully I can have a video or two out at some point sooner
Amazing , Your channel should not be called "Mechanic After Hours" but instead - " Magician All Hours " what you do to already amazing Kits is way far better than comprehension , Love watching REAL Talent .
Every video of yours that I watch keeps mesmerized as I watch and learn from a master at work. Your knowledge and experience is second to none. Plus you have all the equipment needed to perform such mastery. I dream of having a car built by you.
Thanks, Marco! Yes. Probably one that’s very special to me as the Super Dog Fighter/870c is the car that thought me many things about the hobby. I also think it’s one of the few true gems in the history of RC buggies
As ever, another another stunningly immaculate build from you. I love what you do and really look forward to your videos. For me the build is an important and enjoyable part of the hobby, but in this day and age of 'all done for you' RTR cars it's increasingly difficult to find unusual builders kits - apart from Tamiya that is.
Although you are an excellent builder….and your attention to detail is second to none….there are many others with similar attention to detail, patience, and skill to produce similar results (quality wise) with a “kit build”……what really sets your builds apart is the changes you make. It’s not like you change things just so it’s different….anyone can do that….it’s the vision….you can see all these small changes needed….but also how they all compliment each other other. You only need to look at a thumbnail to want one of your creations….and watching a build only amplifies the feeling the want. Honestly the only people making “anything” in the whole world on a par with yourself is “Singer”…..you’re like the RC version….but only better because you aren’t tied to one brand or model. I’ve always thought I had good taste myself, every car I’ve built I’ve thought was tasteful….and would prefer mine to anyone else’s….but I know if I built my perfect version of any car…..and turned up at a show…..and you turned up with your version of the same car…..you’d blow me out of the water. Do you have a vision of how these RC cars will look finished? Or do you just come up with ideas as you go? Do you sketch it out or is it all in your head? Anyway, I’m very happy I came across your vids…..like I say, more into full sized cars…..but to be honest your RC builds are not only better looking, but higher quality, less BS, and basically not vanity projects. In all honesty, you should step up to a full car build…..I’m sure every one of your RC fans would follow along….and many new fans be gained. Don’t have to stop the RC stuff…..I mean being the best RC RUclips channel why would you? I’ve just decided…..I’m gonna hassle you about this until you tell me what real car build you’d love to do……I don’t wanna be a pain in the arse but to be fair it’s your fault for consistently knocking out amazing RC cars
Thanks! And thank you for watching. I've seen so many amazing builds and always feel I need to improve in some way. But of course making it fun for me is the most important thing
You make it look easy , but most of us know how intricate and difficult it is to do what you’re doing. My next build is going to be a Durga and you just inspired me to think outside the box when I build it. Great job as always.
That was a nice way to spend 45 minutes this morning, lovely to watch! Every step of your work is a joy to watch, but I have to say I am amazed what you can do with that plotter! If you ever decide to do a tutorial, that would be a good candidate. Funny, I just received a Durga body in the mail the other day, I still don't have any other parts, but sometime in the future I'll do a DB-01 build, a pretty simple one, sort of light on the upgrades. I always wanted to do a belt driven 4Wd, and this is the one I want. And of course your car is a true inspiration, very well done!
Another beautiful build! Hoping you do a bench and tools video soon, really interested in seeing your kit. From what we can see in the video you keep everything immaculate!
Your builds are always so awesome. I have been building RC cars since 1980 (with some big gaps in between), but none of my builds even approach your level of craftsmanship. If you ever get back into filming builds, you should consider one of the many variations of the TT-02. Yes, I know that they have been done a lot, but I’d like to see your interpretation. There are so many upgrades, hop-ups and useless bling available for the TT-02 (or TT-02B, or TT-02D, or TT-02S, or TT-02Whatever) that building a unique model is possible, even for a duffer like me.
I just bought that same glove just because of this video lol. finally a step up from disposable latex for my rc assembly sessions😁😁 thanks bro, keep it up!!
Always inspirational stuff to watch sir. What you do keeps the hobby thriving and by doing that you’re also changing lives. Mine included (1.5 sober) keep it up!!
Well that made me forget about crap for a while. Watched on in sheer mesmeration if that's even a word haha. You reminded me why I hate blue aluminum parts, minimal dark gold and metallic finishes look so much better!!!
Never thought to sand and polish the edges of the carbon shock stays after applying CA glue. Definitely going to try it on a future build! As always, an amazing video and an incredible build. Thank you for video documenting and sharing with us.
Thanks! A very long time ago I learned it from someone who got me into RCs, he did this to his Yokomo 870c track car and the car didn't even have CF stays-but it made the edges look nice. I inherited the habit but only do it with cars I run often
This is a message to the RC-ELF: Attention: "RC-ELF" I have thought about this for a very long long time and can not come up with a better kit to send to MAH. @@MechanicAfterHours Incredible build as always, looks fast without even moving! Attention to detail is second to none! Take care my friend, until the next one :D

Hey, hope you're OK Mr MAH. Turbulent times we know, but it's a little scary when we all sit here, looking for even more inspiration, and one of the masters of RC art goes more than 3 months sans post. U OK?
Hi. Thank you for the kind message. I’ve been abroad for a while but will be back soon. I’ll be back finishing up some videos. Stay tuned. Thanks again.
Amazing build. And I agree, these oldskool brushed motors just look better, with the endbell and all their "greebles" like small brush cooling "towers" etc.
@@MechanicAfterHours I run them too, in my vintage cars. Maybe in the re-release Optima Mid that I'll put a mild brushless setup, but my vintage runners are all brushed
These cars you are producing are literally incredible….your eye for detail is incredible….such subtle changes with drastic results. Do you not drive a modified car? If you do I’d love to see it! What cars are you into? I’d love to see your ideas scaled up to full sized cars. I can’t imagine someone with your eye for detail drives a boring car…..but if you do….but have an interest in cars….send me some renders for an EG6 civic or an Evo 9 and I’ll literally set up a RUclips channel to build your vision…..or if you have any real car builds in mind I’d love to hear about or see renderings of them. Thanks for watching and the kind feedback. Hmm, I used to have modified cars (all motor to stage 3 turbo cars) but to be honest got tired, car tuning is never ending you know and the tools/parts are expensive. I do like vintage sports cars (or at least cars that are more analog) whether they are economy cars to high-end ones but they're all relatively expensive to buy and maintain especially nowadays. I really appreciate cars designed by Gandini. Then German cars like the 964 Porsche to Benz's Red Pig and SECs when modified. On the other end of the spectrum I really do like Kei cars, they're super fun to drive and cozy-had the best memories with those cars. The EG6 can be a beautiful car when properly worked on-I like hatchbacks. I did have Hondas in the past (and my favorite one was the DC2 Type R). I still have cars but also have a foldable bike for the city :)
@@MechanicAfterHours you have very similar taste to me. I’ve had 4 DC2 type R’s 👍🏻…..In fact I still have a silver 98 spec JDM one with no engine that I’ll rebuild one day.

Very nicely done! Love the overall aesthetic and attention to detail. My Tamiya Frog was black and gold, so l love that combination. Great to see how you do the custom stickers or decals and underside plate too. That electric screwdriver makes things easier too! 👍🏻

I just found your channel. This brought back so many memories! Love the videos. May I ask what is the machine that you use to scan and cut decals/vinyl?
Excellent video again . Love the smoothness of the carbon edges after glue and sanding, really added to the detail of the towers, and of course the vinyl cut additions. Looking at that Super Cobra motor on Ebay - looks affordable!
Thanks, Simon! I usually make a bottom protector if the kit is rare (or I don't have a spare underbody shell) because it's hard to find a replacement if they get scratched
@@MechanicAfterHours hi, thanks for the answer, i get that bit with the protection, i was only referring to the oversize, the "wings". I mean, the Look a bit Manga or Mini 4wd which might be cool, Just wondering why they are there except for style, and if they scrape when cornering...
I see! Got it. Just for style and the shape to complement the body. I have a modified DB01 for the track and the RRR is just for the shelf/casual use so the wing doesn't interfere even when cornering
It's a shame this guy stopped posting. Best build videos and mods around.

Absolutely beautiful. I'd love to see how you'd build a Wild Willy or a Hotshot
Excellent video again . Love the smoothness of the carbon edges after glue and sanding, really added to the detail of the towers, and of course the vinyl cut additions. Looking at that Super Cobra motor on Ebay - looks affordable!
Thanks! Yes, I think there’s that last 11T on ebay and it’s quite a good deal for what it is and being made in Japan
You know what youre doing, I have the TRF 501X WE with all options from the TRF 511X you can get and do like it a lot.
Sublime! I Just dont get it with the oversized bottom protector... Keep em coming, so enjoyable to watch..
カッコイイ!ナイスカー。
