Someone may have already said this, but you could put the sugar in a food processor or blender to make your own fine sugar for your cocoa recipe. I will definitely be trying some of your ready mixes. I need convenience with my busy lifestyle and like you, I want quality ingredients. You are a delight.
That would be wayyy better than powdered sugar, since it has cornstarch in it. I've used my blender to make fine/powdered sugar, and yes that works just great!
This is an awesome idea. That way you're not in the middle of making your dough and realize you don't have enough of something then have to make a run to the store. Funny thing is that I just took inventory of my sprinkles and sugars, can't wait for Christmas cookies.
You would not believe the quality of those jars you scored, you scored Bormioli Rocco brand Fido jars❣️❣️❣️. I store my flour in that big one. And they are made in Italy. And the ARC is a great glass brand. 👋🇨🇦
For the muffin mix, you could take this all the way using powdered milk, powdered egg, and powdered butter. People who have freeze dryers could even make their own. When you have powdered fats of any kind, it reduces the shelf life a bit but it is much nicer to have a just add water mix. To give them as gifts it is nice to vacuum seal them in canning jars.
You better believe the SECOND I can afford a freeze dryer I will be getting one! I will 100% be making content with information like that as soon as I’m able to. Because you are absolutely correct.
@faithandarrowhomestead I'm with you on that one! A feeze dryer is at the top of my list for Santa. Unfortunately, Santa can't afford one in this economy! 😅😂
It all looks so nice and neat in the mason jar containers. I have all my dry beans, rice, noodles, flower, and sugars in air tight containers. Now I'll mix up my own cookies, brownie, pancake, and cornbreads like yours. It so easy to see what I have and what I need. Thank you for sharing.
I’ve been slowly collecting my containers. I can’t stand glass due to an incident about 10 years ago that ended with 12 stitches (I’m sure you can guess). I’ve been plastic ever since and Good Housekeeping airlocks are perfect for my needs
Thank you. Brought back gallon mayo jugs from my job. Used them to store your mixes. This will save time and money. My 13 yr old is learning to bake and this is perfect. God bless you. Keep it up. Good will shopping tomorrow for jars. ❤
Such great information. This is valuable for preppers, making stock up food supplies from base ingredients, making bisquick, making jiffy cornbread base etc from bulk flour. Bulk ingredients to store. I have stocked powdered eggs, milk, flour, corn meal. All purpose flour, corn starch. Baking soda. Baking powder, bulk pepper and salt. It's good habits to start stocking these food items nowadays.
I never thought about it from a prepping standpoint. I would definitely store these in Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers if that’s what you’re going for so they last longer on the shelf! Thanks for sharing your perspective :)
And potato soup. And clam chowder. Also mix half and half with the potato water when making milk gravy. It saves lots of fresh milk when making bread pudding and tapioca or any other cooked pudding. Stock up when it's on sale over Thanksgiving and Christmas, or on case-lot sales.
The gallon size small mouth jar is an awesome find! They usually sell new for around $15 to $20. It is a higher end Italian company that has been making glass since the early 1800’s. Not that I am saying it is antique as they are still making them today. The company is Bormioli Rocco. And I love them and have a few also. Another good brand with the wire bale lock is Le Parfait jars. I like those also. Great video!!
I have made brownies from your mix twice now. And they turned out amazing The mix was a little dry both times so I added about 2 tbsp of milk before I bake them and oh my gosh, they don't last 2 days in our house. Thank you so much for all of these

I love this! In today's economy, I have been looking for strategies to save money feeding two growing boys, such as making stove top popcorn and making vs. Buying cookies. Then ingredients go up in price and it is a constant battle! I want to try this for cocoa and cake mixes which are constantly shrinking! Thank you so much for sharing all of these wonderful pre mixes. I make my own homemade pancake mix and we go through it SO fast! Helpful hint for you in the future~write your recipe directly on to your jar in sharpie and cover in tape. It will stay until you remove the tape! This just saves the extra step of having to write it on paper first. BTW, my pancake mix requires only adding water and maybe a shot of vanilla should you desire.
For finer sugar don’t spend extra for special sugars just put your regular sugar in a blender or food processor until you get the consistency you want.
Here, in Australia, we can buy the red mill flours, but they cost between $8-13 Australian dollars for 500g! Other than almond flour, any label, it is the most expensive flour we can buy. Luckily we have local millers who make wonderful flours and they’re affordable, and even available to the home cook in large quantities to save even more money. We however can rarely find very low protein (cake) flour. Our most available, supermarket brand, flour has recently (within the past 5 years) introduced flour for cakes and sponges, flour for pizza and both plain and self raising, flour. these however are often not available, so we use the replace a small amount of plain flour with corn or potato flour.

A good homestead club of trusted people could be organized in the neighborhood or at a local church, and could share the expense of things like a circuit or other expensive appliances. You could even go all the way and start a homestead co-operative, maybe hunt down some tax breaks and get some legal protection for large purchases. A church kitchen can be a good neutral territory to meditate personality conflicts, and depending on your area might already have some industrial grade, commercial kitchen appliances that can prepare for in bulk for long term dry storage or freezing. The Mondragon co-operative in Basque Spain was started by a priest and local farmers and now is one of the biggest businesses in Spain, while providing unemployment protection and lifelong job training to it's employee-owners. Oh yeah, perfect timing! I love this cornbread recipe.
Fido is Italian glass. Nice find!
Someone may have already said this, but you could put the sugar in a food processor or blender to make your own fine sugar for your cocoa recipe. I will definitely be trying some of your ready mixes. I need convenience with my busy lifestyle and like you, I want quality ingredients. You are a delight.
That’s a great idea! Thank you :)
That would be wayyy better than powdered sugar, since it has cornstarch in it. I've used my blender to make fine/powdered sugar, and yes that works just great!
I use powdered sugar- works great
You could also use powdered (confectioners) sugar.
@@joclark3702 powdered/confectioners sugar contains cornstarch, which might thicken the cocoa.
Being disabled i cant stand for long and i love pancakes, great tip i can do this..thankyou x
Happy to help :)
I think you're inspiring me to get all my Christmas cookie mixes ready and jars!
Oh I like that idea!!!
Wow that’s amazing!! Thank you for sharing!
@@BeautifulBoreal😂 Santa’s got it rough out here!
Where do you get powered butter ?
@@gspmom9437I have seen it at Target, Big Lots, or order on Amazon.
The simple solution would be the use a larger bowl to mix and sift ingredients together to make sure they are well combined and I just love ur videos.
I dream about the day I can display all of my dry ingredients in beautiful jars!
Yay! This is great!
I woul d love to see a video on how you make various muffins with your.muffin mix!
That jar goes with the spice of life line of corning ware. I got some from my grandmother's house and love them.
Don’t worry about the tape…You’re just keep’in it real and I appreciate that 😊 Thank you for all the tips and recipes, glad I came across your channel

Dear, with all her VIEWS, trust me, she makes plenty!!!!
I love carnation milk . I use it for everything! It makes the best mashed potatoes.
Ooh I’ll have to try this!
And potato soup. And clam chowder. Also mix half and half with the potato water when making milk gravy. It saves lots of fresh milk when making bread pudding and tapioca or any other cooked pudding. Stock up when it's on sale over Thanksgiving and Christmas, or on case-lot sales.
@@Judith-wq2jpwow, excellent tips!
Wow thanks for this info!!
I have made brownies from your mix twice now. And they turned out amazing The mix was a little dry both times so I added about 2 tbsp of milk before I bake them and oh my gosh, they don't last 2 days in our house. Thank you so much for all of these
Thank you for sharing your adjustment! Comments like this are helpful for other people. And I also really appreciate your feedback :) I’m SO glad you and your family love them!
How much of the dry mix do you add 1 or 2 cups? I cant seem to get anyone to answer me on this question ty
@@BakeALegAndLetsDigIt She said she was doing single servings for the brownie mix, which means instead of using a big jar she’s using freezer bags. 1 freezer bag makes a full 1 pan of Brownies. Hope that helps clarify your question.
I find those flip jars at the thrift store. As long as the metal clips aren’t rusty - I buy them. The replacement gaskets I get from Amazon
Love Love Love that you continued to put ingredients directly into the jars rather than bowl mixing then transferring. Smart time/effort management & engaging tutorial. Thanks!
Mix each in the mixer and pour into each container for best mixed results...can use a blender to make the sugar crystals smaller too...great video!

Happy belated 70th to ur husband very best wishes sent ,
I loved your video. Great ideas. I like to add vanilla beans to my canister of sugar, which would be awesome to use in the brownie and cocoa mixes. Tip: you can make extra fine sugar by just pulsing it in a blender. It works great😊. Glad I happened across this channel. Thank you👍
I just recently added some spent vanilla beans to some sugar to try it out!
I got a cart full of the Italian clamp jars from large, medium and small at a thrift store for under $30 on one of their 40% off sales. I cleared the shelf of all of them! I filled them all. I love them.
Wow!! How fortunate, that’s amazing!
Really nice video! For finer sugar just blend it in the food processor. Maybe add all the hot cocoa ingredients in and mix them up at the same time.
These are absolutely brilliant! They'd make great Christmas gifts!
I love this idea! I have to eat Low Carb, Sugar-Free, Gluten Free, all the saddest versions 😂 so I will have to figure out how to adapt my recipes to do this, but I can definitely see how I could do this with the things I can eat.

@@faithandarrowhomesteadno, I have autoimmune issues that I control with a very low carb, sugar-free, grain-free diet. @@faithandarrowhomestead Me too! Glad I found your channel!
Wonderful mixes; thanks for sharing! Blessings to everyone 🤗💗🇨🇦
I love this! In today's economy, I have been looking for strategies to save money feeding two growing boys, such as making stove top popcorn and making vs. Buying cookies. Then ingredients go up in price and it is a constant battle! I want to try this for cocoa and cake mixes which are constantly shrinking! And although it is not quite as easy, one way to make sure you aren't using too much of dry ingredients is to fluff, spoon, and level your flour instead if scooping. It really can make a difference. If I did a lot more baking I'd buy a scale. Thanks for sharing this!
Just made hot cocoa mix. Awesome. Very yummy, totally customisable, plus will save a fortune and compared to my mix on the shelf, it's now 25% of the sugar! Thank you.
That’s great!!

Great idea! And ohhh yeah there are definitely easier pancake recipes out there. For some reason I always choose the recipes that ask for more 😂🤦🏻♀️
Can you please give me your recipe 🙏

We are remodeling and I will have a prepper pantry with all my canning jars, etc. This will be a great addition! Thanks
Oh man that is so exciting! Enjoy your new pantry!
The dutch cocoa process removes the majority of the acidity of the cacao. It results in a cocoa being mild and is the best for baking.
For finer sugar don’t spend extra for special sugars just put your regular sugar in a blender or food processor until you get the consistency you want.
Excellent idea! Cost efficient and serves it's purpose.
Very interesting! What a blessing that you have local millers, that’s amazing!
