I made a tire balancer with spare 2wd Traxxas spindles, and a couple random plastic bits....clean the grease out of some new bearings, and add a couple drops of marvel mystery oil. Another tip when balancing, put a line on the balancer and the back of the wheel. A visual reference helps. Cleaning rubber/ wheel with Simple green seems to help tire glue stick better(not sure why, but I've always had good luck with it)
Lovely video with good info! Being unbalanced can also be harder on the wheel bearings. As you stated close enough is plenty good , but I've seen some be extremely unbalanced to the point you could visibly see them shaking at higher speeds- not good. Thanks for the video and keep up the great work 👍
A lot of people don’t understand how much venting a tire helps… on fast cars with big tires that expand like the e revo or a Kraton you NEED to vent the tire. Reduces the pizza cutter effect, which gives better handling and takes tons of stress off your glue job. Venting also helps balance the tire a TON, putting your tire under a vacuum creates some wild shaking. Plus water WILL get in even if you seal the rim and don’t vent the tire… trust me… your glue isn’t a perfect seal when those tires balloon
I always vent my tires if u get water inside a few quick revs while holding your car in the air throws all the water out the holes with centrifugal force 😊
I have found that more often than not, any rubber tires I purchase and/or mount on new wheels for my touring cars are unbalanced. It’s frustrating actually. I have found pre-mounted foams are the best option. Smooth and no vibrating
Hello can u help would this explain my widemaxx issue basically I brought a widemaxx v2 last week ran it 4/5 times everything was perfect then I linked the traxxas Bluetooth app on controller and put 80 shock oil in back now on high speed it speed wobbles
Vented tire, sealed rim, always (unless belted). You’ll immediately notice it handles better at speed and shakes less if you hold it off the ground and give it throttle. Much less ballooning which also means your glue will last longer and the odds of a blowout will be lower. Just make sure not to put a hole on the seam you see on the tire, put it slightly to the left or right 😁🤜🏼🤛🏼
I need some help with mines I recently bought a tt-02 kit is bow fully built and all the electronics are installed but the driveshaft wont spin when i hit the throttle you hear the motor moving but driveshaft is still need some help
Something simple & ppl do miss , me being one of them . Get water in them , throw them out OR boil them off if tread is worthy of big messy & time consuming effort but its worth it. No venting tires since its always alphalt , here. No tape either , tiny q tip dab of whats always @ hand , 3M 5200 Marine sealant which will set up overnight .
I got beach sand in my traxxas max tires there heavy now keeps breaking my shafts how can i get out with out de glueing n glueing back on try lots off ways
Try venting them. Of you didnt run throuh water, sand will come out. Unlesd you ran trough sand and water then it is soaked in your inserts. In that case it will be very difficult to take out.
Oooooh man! Next time seal the rim and vent the tire first. the sand (or water) will never have a chance to get inside, it’ll get flung out at 10k RPM😁🤜🏼🤛🏼
One thing to watch out for when using acetone is any chrome coating on your wheels. From my own experience, acetone breaks down the chrome coating, causing it to flake off.
I've found almost all rtr & pre-mounted tyres & wheels are terribly out of balance...I bin them! ECX produce excellent pre-mounts that require little to no balancing. You are better off building the tyres & wheels yourself...& venting the tyres.
I see a lot of people drilling holes in their tires when all they have to is put electrical tape over the vent holes on the wheels to prevent water/dirt buildup inside. 🙄🤦♂️
Venting the tire helps balance the wheel a TON compared to making it a complete vacuum, drastically reduces the “pizza cutter” effect too which means they handle MUCH better at speeds and won’t blow off the rim as easily. Also, dirt and water will still get inside if you’re using a fast car where the tire balloons. The tire will suck water and dirt through the tiny gaps in the glue that open up when the tire expands….. long story short if you’re going fast, vent the tires, seal the wheel. Everything will last much longer, even your A arms and bearings

Bad foams-water, bent or cracked wheel or bent axle. Excellent video.

Good series Greg and thank you for sharing. Any troubleshooting help always appreciated.

Definitely a tip that RC Hobbies need to know
👍🏻😉
Good information and tips. I think that cvd driveshaft can shake when the suspension is fully extend too. Normal state

Good stuff..A heavily worn diff outdrive or bent cvd can also cause shakes.
Nice video👍👍👍
thanks for the tips, I am new to bashers , it will be useful info
Looking for tips on axel slop in AMK portal kit. I have some shims but not exactly sure where they should be installed.

Great information.
Awesome video buddy, I've been promoting tire venting and taping rim holes for a long time.👍🇨🇦🤠

Which wheel n tire is best for xmaxx 8s bashing? Vented or not vented?

@V8chump how so u stop foam disintegrating in tires?
Do you know why my wheels on my rc car are locked and have instance breaks on them??

Good PSA vid. With what the public schools and colleges have been turning out as of late there are undoubtedly many perplexed.
No wonder why my slash was going crazy when I used to drive it before my college class.

I have a set of "Louise MFT MT-ROCKET" that are bounce horribly even after i tried to balance them :/
Do a video on that samurai in the background

Always soaked mine in acetone breaks down the glue. Wash assemble re glue.
I’ve had mixed results with acetone.
I have boiled my rc tires. It takes 30 minutes on each side but the glue melts off and the bead is free.

I don’t know man I always tape the holes
What about servo shake?
That’s… not a thing? Slop in your steering linkage could be fixed with metal upgrades (depending on the RC) but the servo doesn’t just…shake? 🤔
@@V8chump the servo wiggles when its still just small wiggles though
You probably have a glitchy servo. I would recommend replacing it.
Pins in A arms too
