Great video Greg. My son noticed he was getting some wheel wobble on his Redcat Volcano EPX Pro and after your video the bearing was the first thing we checked. You were right on with the assessment, it was a blown bearing. Thanks again for all you do to make our hobby more enjoyable. Keep up the great work guys and keep the videos coming!
I'd say best video yet. Majority of your videos is product advertisement. traxxas, rpm ,ect when you get the free parts and the do upgrades videos. This is a great video. I officially subscribed
Another great video, I just picked some Fast Eddie bearings, and was waiting for this video, thank you for the helpful information, and keep these videos coming.
Cheaper end? I got 2 $700 rc cars that do that every time I replace suspension or steering parts lol gotta find that sweet spot for the nut on each bolt
Great video ☺️ I just bought a Redcat Everest Gen7 sport and after running it only 3 times the front left wheel wobbles like crazy. I'm gonna take the wheel off now that I've seen this video and give it a look based on your advice. Thanks again ☺️
Good info.I do the same things on my mugen truggies and my mugen buggies it sure helps when we are at our local track racing on Saturday nights.we use a lot of Fast Eddies bearings they hold up really well
I put on brand new bearings and hub carriers on my Xmaxx and now there seems to be a small amount of wiggle on the wheels now. Have you heard of that happening on the Xmaxx? The stock setup didn’t have that issue.
Hello @RCDriver_Online, would you be able to comment or give advice on how to select/find the correct shim size/thickness? I have a Redcat Tornado EPX, there's definitely slop at all four wheels. Each time I put any kind of shim on to, as soon as I tighten the wheel nut the wheel (assuming it's the bearing) would seize up (what you mentioned at 5:22). I've tried shims of different sizes and thickness, tried putting the shim inside the bearing space and outside, nothing works. The only times the wheel does not seize up is where is NO shim. Please help! Thank you.
@RCDriver_Online these 2 vids were excellent and answered many questions I have just getting into RC. I do have to ask where the rest of the series is since it's been a year and no vids have been posted. Did you forget or give up? Any chance you have more coming? You've earned my sub after these 2. I'd like to see more!
Love vids like this. Are you only going to do these 2? Also, I do have wheel wobble/slop but how do I know what size shim to use. Example vehicle with 12mm hex do i just need to find a 12mm washer. Not having much luck googling 12mm rc car washer/shim. Thanks much!!!
@RCDriver_Online I have a slash vxl 2wd and when I give it full throttle or a good bit of throttle it will squat in the back end and start to sway in the back end then it gets hard to keep strait and control it. So how do I fix or prevent this in my slash?
greati video! i have a question. I’ve been greasing my diffs for quite some time now and feel pretty confident about doing it. but I have a problem and haven’t been able to find a solution. for the rear, one wheel spins faster than the other. I’ve checked everything and its all working perfectly. I’ve even opened the seals on the bearings and lubricated them, still nothing. one wheel seems to have more resistance than the other. tried using less grease on that side, still nothing. If you have any recommendations please let me know! thanks
My dad got a car, which has been running flawlessly. But then suddenly when he would turn the wheels they would shake/vibrate, what can be the cause to this? HPI Rs4 Sport 3 i think the model is
Just a question, my driveshaft is falling out because one of the small sticks in the wheel hub is missing. Im just wondering what the sticks are called?
i had a slash come in to fix from one of my friends, all of the above problems plus some and late stage damage to the the diff. so im going to tell you what happened and what broke all because of bad bearing's. so it needed new A arms because of the wear on the bolt hole's caused by the vibrations from the blown out bearing's ( multiple ) making the caster block move because of the enlarged holes. sense the axles where wiping around because of the bearing and caster block problem, it put wear on the diff cup to the point where the output shaft hole had gotten big enough for the output shaft to unmesh from the other gears and strip it out ruining all the differential gears . he continued to run it with the blown out diff and somehow the bearing that sits on the outside of the diff housing had locked up and melted the housing. it was at that time he finality stopped running it and gave it to me to fix. now when i say he was bashing it HARD i mean it. i took apart the slipper clutch and instantly noticed that one its not flat its now coned shaped and two the slipper clutch plate had gotten hot enough to turn the metal into different colors on the back side. if you didn't know that takes 800* F or 427* C for metal to change color. THATS HOT!!!! so i also ended up having to get a whole new slipper clutch assembly for it as well. there may have bean some parts i forgot about but the cost of all the repairs just to get the thing moving again including new tires was $250. moral of the story if you hear a new sound check it out, if you have a blownout bearing replace it, also don't punch it full throttle all the time. :-)
Mattplaysio in the front there is two links that have a Phillips screw on them they will have an hole next to the one it’s attached to those are for camber to make your car more stable move it to the next hole
Irun 8th scale nitro buggy and I have optional aluminum hubs which helped keep the bearings supported. The original glass filled plastic hubs would actually open up letting the bearings move etc. I shim them on the I side facing the cvd side. Now my setup did not come with between bearing spacers that keep the bearings inner races tight and spaced so there is no bearing crushing going on but I'm thinking about doing that too. Balanced tires are a must too. If you have out of balance tires they will quickly ruin your bearings due to vibration. Just my experience.
Greg I've been putting drops of oil in my Fast Eddy bearings but I recently saw a video where he took the side of his bearings off and put grease in the bearings. Seems like that might slow the bearings down. Do you ever recommend grease over oil in the bearings? Maybe in harsh conditions?
I know this post is 4 years old but jic you never got your answer about oil over grease in bearings here's my two cents. Grease over oil every time unless otherwise specified. Reason: oil will just be flung out of your bearings first high speed run you do. Grease will hold up better to heat and speed. And it will not slow the vehicle down.
How thick is the shim? I placed an M5 washer between the pin & bearing, the wheel seizes. The washer is 1mm THK. I can’t seem to find a thinner shim. Got any advice?
I have a Feiyue desert eagle 6x6. Great buggy but the front wheels have started to wobble. The problem is plastic bushings in the front axle carrier. They seem to be part of the carrier itself. Plus the front half shafts are pressed together on either side of the carrier. Any suggestions? This is a great car and quite fast for what it is. I'd hate to have to shelve this car because of hard to find or non existent pieces.
For a 2wd like the traxxas rustler, how freely should the front wheels spin? I saw someone do an in unboxing and they spun the front wheel and out spun pretty smooth for a while. But I bought new bearings and when I put the stock washer on it (only one), the fronts don't spin very long... out feels like putting the spacers in makes it worse vs better but maybe my expectations are not right. Edit: forgot to say, I'm also using the rpm bearing carriers, not stock
I actually tried running without the washers (wheels spin really free for a long time) but noticed that my car actually rolls on slight incline even with no power which I think it didn't did before...so I'm not really sure how loose they should spin
Check to make sure your steering trim is set right and that you didn’t accidentally crank it to one side. Then Is the steering servo still good? Remove the servo horn to make sure it turns in both directions. If it’s ok, perhaps the teeth stripped out in the servo horn itself.
Should I put a drop of oil on the outside of the bearing at the wheel hub after every run or so? The thing I noticed about that though is it seems to collect dirt there on the next run so I was curious about it.
It's not necessary after every run, it really depends on how often you run, conditions you run in. If it's "general running" maybe once a month during a routine maintenance check. Or if you suspect an issue, then maintain the bearing. Let the oil seep into the bearing for a bit, then maybe wipe the surface with a rag so the dirt doesn't collect on the bearing.
GengarMan 57 Cool thanks bud. I actually never run in water to just prevent rust. Might get a cheap rustler or something to bash around in mud and water.
The front tires on my Senton wobble but they're on tight. It's more like the wobble of a bicycle tire when the rim is slightly bent. But my truck is brand new. I literally just tried it out and noticed the issue. Does anyone have an idea what it can be?
Do you ever drive your cars? LOL they are always so clean! I have severe wheel wobble in the front on my rustler 4x4. It started after only a few packs. Its amazing Traxxas never took care of this issue. Then again why would they when it makes the consumer buy new parts?
@RCDriver_Online I know this video is old but if your able to respond, my problem is I have a 4WD RC dune buggy electric I used it five times for short test runs and that fifth time the one rear wheel is wobbling any advice or help please.
After adding some bigger tires to my slash I noticed how absolutely terrible rc suspension is. I want someone to make quality parts like tie rods, control arms, and bearings that don’t have a ton of slop.
Hello i have a bezgar rc truck and we really dont know a whole lot about the problem but my dad thought mabey somthing in transmishion. So i will go to drive it and the back tires will spin freely and the front tires will be stif and spin on comand but back do not it is 4x4
Im here cuz 2 of my back wheels are messed up one barely spins not only that its spinning way too easy and wont spin like the other three wheels but the other back one as im spinning the wheel by hand the other wheels besides the other back one is spinning but only if I turn my wheel fast enough by hand and even then it skip so the wheels turn one second by hand then stop then do it again and the three wheels all balloon pretty much the same size besides that one that is spinning too easy and not spinning properly or nearly as fast with o the other 3 wheels and I think thats why ive lost power and my steering wasn't as good and thats what I thought was causing it I think my dad said something about checking my bearings so you think all it is is a seized bearing if it does that I have a redcat blackout xte pro brushless versión its awesome but its very hard to take apart and inconvenient because just to check the getting your basically taking half of it apart and do u think it could be a gearing issue ñike maybe one gear isn't aligned anymore or it wore down ive replaced the differential once I believe forgot which side assuming its the front since that seems to be working fine any help would be appreciated
Ive been having trouble with my yokomo yz.2 DTM.3. I turn on my controller then my car. I pull back on the throttle the back wheels will go for a little bit maybe 6 or 7 seconds, then the the acceleration will stop abruptly and the front wheels will turn but no power to the back wheels
As someone who is fairly new to the hobby I'm really loving this series and think it's a great idea! Thanks greg and rc driver online.
Thanks for watching Chris! Happy we can help!

Great video! I had to work it out myself couple of weeks ago on my Huanqi 741 and HSP 94170 all is good now. A bit of common sense goes along way
THANK YOU! this is exactly what i need!

Top notch detail and presentation, thank you
Just got mine and there's a wiggle when the vehicle stars moving, there's no wobble though.
Wow awesome review about it thanks
On my wraith the wheel screws keep backing out. Any ideas? I tried locktite.
Early squads here n had the same problem on my rustler until I shimmed it! 👍👍👊👊📹📹
How did you fix it??
Just did this recently on my Summit!
Great video mate 👍👊😃
This is a very good series. Thanks for the great info 💪👍👍😎
another great video cant wait for the next great info
Does this work the same for the front wheels?

Samuel Sutton just look up axle stubs
Excellent production value - clear explanations - solves my problems and guides me through upgrades - thank you keep it up.

You telling me these small 3 and 4 mm washers are hard to find
What about a bent axel? Can that cause my wheel to wobble? I do not believe you talked about that but this is what I suspect could be a problem.
What’s the best way to do a wheel alignment
On rc nitro 4x4 race car, mine always same to be toeing out to much

What about the tires? What about if they’re not balance will it still balance?
Very nice video big thumbs up my friend XD
I have a Rustler 4x4 vxl and on all 4 I have some wiggle with 2 shims. If I put another one in Its snug what should I do
Just a question, my driveshaft is falling out because one of the small sticks in the wheel hub is missing. Im just wondering what the sticks are called?
where can i get these washers?
I have the rc cybertruck ($100 model ) and it has a front wobbly wheel. Is there a way to fix that?
I hear everyone talk about shims but where do u get?
Can wheel wobble cause your rc to not drive as straight as you want?

How do you fix a RC car back wheel because it's not going so can you please help me
Can you do a review on the traxxas 1/10 scale Ford fiesta st rally?
My wheels are pointing into my chassis even after I got new wheels. How do I fix this?
Fierce Heart that’s called rear toe. Depends on the type of car you have. Most cars have toe-pills that are inserts in the arms
my Rc car stock tires make the front Wobble but if I put different tires on is fine and the stock ones have barely been used what should I do?
Good thing I watched this video turned out my bearings completely exploded inside the stub axel carriers i was wondering why there was so much wobble.
What car is that on the right?
Irun 8th scale nitro buggy and I have optional aluminum hubs which helped keep the bearings supported. top info and advise
How thick is the shim? I placed an M5 washer between the pin & bearing, the wheel seizes. The washer is 1mm THK. I can’t seem to find a thinner shim. Got any advice?
Airsoft gearbox shims are super duper thin. 0.1-0.5mm range.

My rc car front wheels wobble when I full throttle it
My bugsta was like this out of the box, tight enough nuts all round but still wobble
Don't spend monney on bearing oil. Just use WD 40 or something. It's cheap and it works great.
My Traxxas 1/16 e revo's have horrible wobble.
Anyone had wheel wobble problems on the Traxxas MAXX? Only drove it a few times and noticed this problem on both rear wheels.
How did you fix the wheel wobble on your maxx, I am having the same problem with one in the rear 🤔🤔🤔
My Slash 2wd Wobles like crazy
But not anymore Thanks
Im late Cause i was Driving my TRX Slash 2wd

No disrespect Greg, but the thumbnail looks like you're giving the finger.

You talk alot, but don't show much
Not very helpful then again neither are any of your other vids.
Will i have a rc truck but it doesn't want to move but what if it wasn't the wheel wobble?
