- Oooh, a sneaky second video! 🤪 In this video, I'm sharing the seven art supplies I have LOVED using throughout 2023 - and you may be surprised by a couple!
I think it's important to note that I haven't given up on watercolors! I've just been working on using other art materials more the past few months, and this has given me a new appreciation for those art supplies which I initially loved but stopped using.
Let me know if any of my favorites are also YOUR favorite art supplies this year!

hey just a tip make sure the tips of your pencils are facing up i am primarly a color pencil artist and storing them face down leads to full core breakage!!

This is incredibly helpful, thank you for sharing! I had turned them down as I see others with them this way, so had assumed it was safe to do so!
I put some scrunched up paper towel at the bottom of my cup so the tips have something soft and it also keeps the pencils at different heights so they are easy to see.
Oh, this sounds like a nice idea! I have some very soft fabric that I could use to really soften the space for them - thank you for the suggestion! 😎
I’m starting a bullet journal and oh my goodness I need those brush pens!! They will work so well with my journal! X
The “need” and “want” voice in my head often gets confused - “Do I need this…? Nope!! “Do I want this…? Heck yes!! So, now I have an entire room of art supplies I haven’t even unwrapped yet. This year I shall be selling all those that are “as new” and putting the money to good use on some spending money for my daughter’s honeymoon. Now all I must do is stick to this, and keep the momentum going. I have until April 27th to sort myself, and my new art room out. Hmmm…will I manage to stick to this? 🤷♀️ So many pretty art supplies that whisper in my ear that they would be very happy to accompany me home. Fingers crossed! I love your favourites Evie, and at least you use what you have!! ❤
It is really hard isn't Anita, more so when there are gorgeous colours involved! 🌈 I DO love the idea of selling on what you're not using though, especially as the proceeds go to such a great cause! Where are they going on honeymoon? 😍 I will try my hardest not to show any other wonderful items that might tempt you! 🤣❤️

I too love 💕 the Tombow dual markers. I did 2 small post card size art pieces using similar colors; Tombows on one piece and professional wcs on the other. If I hadn't had them marked, I could not have told the difference. They're that good. I do wish they'd make a lightfast line of wc markers, but sadly, no news on that. 😞
They are so lovely to work with aren't they Nancy? I spent this afternoon catching up on some Patreon sessions and used my Tombows and Faber Castells for every piece. They'e winners! 😍

I adore the faber castell Pitt markers. They are my most used art supply other than watercolour. The dual tip ones and the brush pens.
It’s a funny thing. I used to have the entire collection of Pitt markers when I was at uni studying fashion design. Then when I finished, I foolishly gave them away. And not I’m rediscovering them, I LOVE them! 😆 Do you use them as is or layer them with other mediums?
@@eviedivadoodles both. I use them alone + a water brush, or layer them with india ink, or inktense, or watercolour.

For one of my first drawing courses in college one of the supplies on the list was a set of 12 Caran D'Ache Neocolor II water-soluble wax pastels. My instructor encouraged us to break ours, and I found myself often taking the little pieces and using them almost like watercolor pans rather than drawing with them. I still have that set (10+ years ago they came in a blue tin, not a red one), and your talking about them sparked that memory for me! I'm so glad other artists are discovering and enjoying them too. 😊
Oh, what a fantastic memory! I always get comments of abject horror when people see I snap my neocolors, so I'm glad to hear its long been recommended!! 🤣
I love these🧡 Thank you. Also, I'm so glad you explained you can remove the streakiness caused by the Tombows! I tested and it worked, not sure though it can be achieved with any colour but certainly with the pale ones.
Oh you're welcome, it's something I learned just recently myself, so glad that it's helped someone else too! I need to test with those brighter colors myself, perhaps over the holidays when life is quieter! ❤️
I tried PolyChromos for the first time this year. I bought a 12 pack. I'm absolutely in love. I want to acquire some Luminance because one of my favorite polymer clay artists draws on her clay pieces with them! They are so amazing! None of my current pencils do that. Well the Faber Castell Black Edition does but not as vibrant.
The polychromos are AMAZING aren’t they? But Luminance will always have my heart! 😍

Ah, thanks Katie! Those are one of my favourite spreads in my giant sketchbook so far! And I may have bought myself that Earth Green you’ve been using, it looks perfect for trees! Picking it up on my trip home this week! 😍

Hi Katie - sorry, YT doesn't show often me replies so only just seeing this. It was the N75 tomboy I believe, though it is showing up lighter in the video that in real life! And I am LOVING the earth green, I picked it up from my dad's when back in the UK and it is gorgeous! 😍
Caran D’ache products are the crème de la crème 😍

Ah, this is interesting! I haven’t tried the Polychromos pencils (I have another brand) but I’ve heard good things about these. I love neocolours! I couldn’t break them in half though 😱 I found this useful (as I did your other video I commented on). Thanks :) Happy Christmas!

Love the pitt pens - i always use them for drawing my designs on lino blocks and they dont smudge at all 😍
Oh, that’s good to know re Lino! I’ve got one more linocut print to do for my OH, and the thought of using the old method is putting me off completing it! 😆
Lovely video I have Prismacolor Polychrome inktense albert durer Pablo Lumerance black widows derwent BFF chromoflow light fast graphtint Tombow pencil holbines and a few open stock of derwent colour soft and duos colour pencils, star joy and a couple of more I can’t think of at this time.. I do adult colouring and now watercolour paints..❤❤❤😊😊😊xxx

OR, 'buying the ones that went on sale at Jackson's so that I could afford to treat myself to them'... it's all down to how we look at things really isn't it? 😉 And as the video was 'the favorite things I BOUGHT in 2023, I wouldn't necessarily include things I hadn't bought..
