    Hey as a pencil artist the blender is used to blend and burnish your last layer of coloured pencil so that the colours blend together smoothly. Also the sandpaper can be used in a few ways. Firstly to keep the point on your pencils instead of sharpening constantly. We use fine points on our pencils to help with layers. And the stars on the holbein pencils are for lightfastness as gar as I know. I don't use holbein I use Derwent prismas or polychromos.
    You killed me snapping your neocolour in half 😂
    Great Hall enjoy. Xx

      Oh, thank you SO much Tracy, this info is really helpful! And yes, I've had that reaction from others when they've seen my snapped neocolors! 🤣 xx

    Hi Evie, not an expert but from my informations, the blender pencil is used above the previous draw in coloured pencils to help them to blend smoothly, simply rubbing the surface that you need to have a better smooth transition. Actually it tones down the vibrancy of the colours, that's why I prefer to use a smudging tool like the paper tortillons (not sure the translation in English, but they are that sort of paper pressed and shaped like pencils). Hope it helps. Thank you for your amazing videos 😊

      Oh, this is so helpful to know, thank you! I will give it a test this evening, and see how it goes. 😎 The rolled paper versions you mention are usually referred to as 'blending stumps' in English. I used one during a workshop in Paris and it was super helpful for blending the sepia crayon I was using - I'll try and get one now you've reminded me! 😍 And thank you - I really enjoy making the videos for this channel, and chatting with peeps, so I appreciated the lovely feedback! 😘

      @@eviedivadoodles Happy to be helpful 😊 There is another Derwent blender called burnisher, never tried that one, but from what I know it should help to enhance the shining patina of the pencils ad it seems to tone down the color less than the blender one. I also think that both blenders are supposed to be used with wax or oil based pencils, as they do not work very well on dry pencils like pastel pencils or soft pastels... I think it's because there is no oily medium to enhance. The blending stumps (thanks 😉) work with both and for sure very well with dry pencils. As I said I use them also with waxy or oily pencils, but if I need to "push" the color further, I often use my fingers... that's because (I suppose) the warmth and the little greasy amount of the skin help to soft the medium of the pencils... and at the end I have a lovely rainbow effect on all my fingers that I love 🤣

    Good morning! What a lovely early post. I haven’t even thought about breakfast yet and had just settled in to start sipping my first coffee of the day and saw the notification on my screen. So I will now relax with my coffee and your art haul.Excellent timing, Eve.

      I so enjoy your videos. I like that you film as you receive as I’d hate for you to have to wait weeks to use new things! Also laughed at the pot size. It can be so hard to tell what things are like online.

      I was so relieved too! Imagine if it had been a bit broken after all the packaging? 👀 And yes, I have tried to 'hold things back' to film in one go and it is really hard on the self control! 🤣

    I absolutely love your hauls! Tip for the neocolor 2 Ultramarine color: this color completely vanishes in sunlight, I was shocked when I saw my lightfast test results (most Neocolors don't hold up very well I'm sad to say)

    Oh, the packaging of the single blue crayon, love their thoroughness. I’ve bought a few things from them lately that came in the little boxes full of foam peanuts, so much eco friendly cardboard and then those things, damn. I hope you can use the things you weren’t so happy with. I’d seen the Paint On paper pads and wondered what they’re like. Quite a variety of things to use, happy arting.

    • @eviedivadoodles
      @eviedivadoodles  8 месяцев назад +1

      It was SO thorough right? And other times I have a pencil just thrown loose into a box and left to rattle and clank about! 🤪 I love the peanuts - water soluble right? They were so cool when I put them into action! 😎 I'm sure I'll put them all to good use, it's just frustrating when they're not the *actual* things you were wanting, but heigh-ho, worse things happening in life. And thank you, I've been acting today when I should really have been working. Oops. 🤣

    I think it's more fun to film supplies as they arrive rather than waiting, more fun for you I assume 😅
    That's so weird with the posca pens! I do know that some are manufactured in Japan and some in the US so maybe that's the reason? The soft pastels look so so pretty 😩

      @eviedivadoodles  8 месяцев назад +2

      Ha ha, yeah, more fun for me that's for sure! I got a couple bits yesterday and I filmed them IN THE DARK because I wanted to test them out.. got up this morning and reviewed it, terrible! 🤣 Will now have to rerecord! Oh, that's interesting re the manufacturing locations, I bet that is the reason! 🤔 And spoiler alert - there *may* be more soft pastels in December's art haul... 👀🤣

    Hi Evie - still didn’t get my paints… leaving here end of the Dec. I hope we are quick to Groningen - where are you shopping in NL? Jackson’s is all orders? Taxes?.. well it’s still bad news here… and now with leaving…. It’s a lot.

    • @eviedivadoodles
      @eviedivadoodles  8 месяцев назад

      Hey Jackie! Oh, that is so frustrating, they'll probably turn up after you leave. 🙁 Let me know when you're back we can grab a coffee! 😎 I go uptown to Van Beek for in-person purchases and then I often use Splendith for online art supplies. Nice to support a small independent shops where possible. But I get the most from Jacksons, and use their DPD option which includes the DUTY prepaid, and works out cheaper than me going to an actual art shop... those spontaneous purchases in store can add up a lot 👀 whereas Jackson's do limit the basket value because of the taxes! 😍
      I've been keeping up with the news, it's all so much. I'm sure yo have a heavy heart being there and feeling at a loss. Sending hugs Jackie, in case you need one. ❤️

    I enjoy your videoes but there is an awful lot of adverts more than on all the other videoes I watch which does get rather annoying sorry

    • @eviedivadoodles
      @eviedivadoodles  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Sue! Thanks for the feedback - I have never modified any of the ad settings that RUclips automatically sets. 🤷‍♀️ Its been this way since the beginning of my channel, when I never received a penny of the ad income generated. I've only been 'monetized' since Christmas Eve and while the amount generated from videos is tiny, it does help a little. For instance, with the number you say you see, this video still only earned a total of £0.21 since published (I just checked the stats out of curiosity). If you feel that you can't watch any of my videos because of the ads I completely understand. Take care!
