When teaching my young daughter how to set the table, I explained that the edge of the knife must always face the dinner plate so that no one gets hurt. That is the essence of good manners… to minimize negative and hurtful emotions in others. Thank you, Anna! I agree with your suggestions. A little tip: I occasionally wear Spanx but purchased 2 sizes bigger than my size. The Spanx still hold me in just fine but don't squeeze the life out of me! With pearls, it depends on the jewelry style, type and color of pearl, and your overall look. The world of pearls is huge--many different sizes, shapes, and colors. I've worn barque Thai pearls with casual outfits but reserve my traditional round pearls for evening.
Cat On a mushroom pornography I agree with! No good comes from that, everyone is so against edited ads and advertisements but no one realizes how altered and edited all of those scenes are. But as far as burlesque goes, being a vintage enthusiast, even burlesque was about the mystery, the possibility of what could be seen and waiting to maybe catch a glimpse....women now adays put everything on full display, I think not even really understanding why, and there is no mystery or illusion. It’s all out for anyone to see
@@sirenelectric143 - Yes, I understand your point and have edited my comment. I am also a vintage enthusiast. I guess I meant the pornification of even that type of entertainment, it's not erotica, it's too much. They have grabbed anything in that vein and pushed the sexual aspect into fashion, and visuals in movies and music videos. The stylised sexuality is so overdone, it has totally lost any appeal. So what I meant was the porn has appropriated burlesque and erotica, and corrupted it. There is a paedofilic tone to it, eg. Victoria Secrets, and advertising, photographic modelling looking for younger and younger, and overtly sexualising them.
Nikes are good for your feet...especially if you stand on your feef fhe whole day ...I think your doctor will be happy you wear Nikes instead of heels.
I have always been impressed by how women used to dress in the -early 1960’s. They spent time pulling a look together and looked head to toe polished and feminine. Much attention was paid to how clothes fit, the quality of fabric and it being well made. The majority of women wore girdles regardless of their weight ( talk about uncomfortable!), heavy duty support bras, pantyhose, and slips with skirts and dresses. Undergarments were made to suck, tuck, and mold the female body into an hourglass shape. Fashion now has gone in completely the opposite direction. Cheaply made clothing of poor quality and no regard for fit. Loose sloppy looking shirts, crop tops , holey jeans, skirts and dresses worn with bare legs. Clothes are designed for comfort not style.
My grandma was very elegant. She used to do her fine laundry on mid-high heals and wear hosiery at all times, even in summer. One more thing she used to do was to wear a beautiful scarf on her hair when going out on windy days or days where there was a lot of dust outside. She was incredible careful with her hair and her hair was always very clean and had a wonderful smell. I always loved her shoes and her purses. She was so classy in all aspects.... I love pearls so much, specially only good quality, real pearls. I will never, ever wear fake pearls. Thank you for another wonderful video🌺

@She’s so Lucky Thanks for asking! Having 'colors done' is attending a session by a 'color specialist' that is a person who is educated and has a method of comparing your skin and hair color to colored squares of cloth, or different color backgrounds of your computer screens to your own color of skin hair and eyes, and chooses the colors that flatter and enhance your own natural colors. People look really pale, or grey when wearing their 'off colors' and look vibrant and healthy when wearing their special colors, due to the way our eyes see. It is a scientific method to help people see you in your best light! For example, light golden blonde takes away all the color in my face, however ash blonde gives me a healthy glowing skin color, subtle yet important! Saving money and looking great due to a tiny bit of color by purchasing the best colors for you is the way to go. Have fun!

I’ve always loved and worn pearls. I wore them when I was young when nobody else wore them but secretly wanted to. I wear three strands sometimes and a string of pearls around my wrist. I do believe pearls are for the day and diamonds are to be worn at night but diamonds can be worn in the day as well. My thoughts are that if you are wearing what you love in a tasteful manner or it happens to look great on you then you are enjoying being a woman and expressing your true sense of style and that my friends is what all ladies want to do. That is how beautiful trends get started (not tacky ones). Being a woman is a great gift and I don’t want to dress like the status quo but in the direction my imagination leads me.
I was taught elegance by a grande dame, my grandmother from NYC, and sometimes my tastefully and elegant style made people in the west and midwest of the USA uneasy!
I strongly disagree about your opinion on pearls. A lot of young fashionable classy women wear pearls. It depends on the style. Pearls are elegant especially the gem quality ones like South sea pearls.
I love fact that you are both elegant and have sens of humour. IT makes you watchable (not sound stuck up), enjoyable to listen and makes things you teach doable. You have a talent
I am 46 and definitely think it is good to stay on top of trend BUT make sure it works for your body and is tailored for you. Mixing classic pieces with things that are modern is a great way to make sure you're not getting into an old lady rut.
So very glad you mentioned pearls... my daughter's wedding which was this past weekend 14 bridesmaids looked very beautiful with pearl earrings of all different styles myself included.... and looked very effortless and elegant... they are coming back for sure!
You are soo right about the hosiery. So many, if not most women do not have flawless legs. When I see women wearing a nice dress and they have bare legs, with the usual flaws, I think why would you ever go out like that when you could just put on some nude hosiery and cover all the flaws and have beautiful smooth legs. It's almost the same thing as having a filter on your camera.
Pearls are definitely having a moment in the USA. Not so much in traditional necklace form but in headband, earring, accents on clothing, etc. I absolutely love them and so glad this is trending here. Thanks for your lovely video :)

I'm a male and I've watched a lot of your videos. What intrigued me initially about your channel was my curiosity about what advice a sophisticated woman would/could give other women about becoming more attractive to (wealthy/successful) men. Were your suggestions just a bunch of baloney or were your recommendations really worthwhile and useful? Speaking as a successful (retired) man, I'd say you almost always hit the bullseye or are always pretty close to the mark. I'm particularly impressed with the thought you put into the advice you give. You always give a well-thought out explanation and the reasoning behind your particular position/recommendation. I also like your central premise that it's important to strike the right "balance" in one's approach to everything really and to avoid both extremes. It's unusual to hear someone argue so articulately in favour of following the middle path. It's not an easy sell but I think it's very sound advice. Congratulations on a job well done.
Pearls look very good on the executive office look. I wore gray pearls necklace and tiny diamonds for earrings for a job interview and I totally nailed it 🍀. I am 33
Yes....yes there is. Especially when women have those mounds right over the top of their dresses. It always looks odd to me. Stuff those back inside the casing.
Exactly, I used that rule for most of my life and it works like magic. I notice, that if I wear shorts with a shirt (button up thin and not tight one, as well as not too sheer) I always look so good and put together, better than just tank top and shorts. Or when I'm wearing something more revealing at the top, I tend to wear pants or midi skirt to balance things out. It is perfect formula, same as - one voluminous item with the "slim fit" one, or as one print item with solid color item. The simple but well thought out looks always make person look elegant, her clothes look more high end.
Sve Tiko This is great advice! I took a little screenshot of your comment to remind myself. 8p I used to wear pencil skirts and sheath dresses above the knee but I’ve been sold those on and replaced them with slightly longer options. If I wear a mini skirt, I feel more comfortable in a light, loose-fitting sweater. It’s all about proportion, in size and shape but also in the skin you show. I mean, when you’re dressing normally. If you’re at home, you’re choring, or it’s too hot, I say put on whatever.
I was until we got a new principal who said that ladies should never be told to remove their hats under any circumstances And that it’s disrespectful to tell a lady to remove her hat
The point about the hat surprized me a lot. I was always taught, that wearing a hat inside is rude and impolite (I‘m german-polish). My family as well as school were very strict about this. Wearing a hat during dinner would have never crossed my mind!
Osteopauli I’m also German-Austrian and my grandfather would scold even grown men for wearing hats or hoods indoors, I could never imagine wearing a hat indoors
That rule only applies to men. Women have always been allowed, sometimes required, to wear a hat indoors. For example, in Europe, it's still required for women to wear a scarf or a hat in a Catholic church. Traditionally, it was considered modest for adult women to cover their hair indoors and outdoors every day.
Most of these rules are really about the way a lady should look, in order to fit in polite society. Fashion changes over time. Inner elegance, of carriage, behaviour, demeanor, and inner nature, is timeless. 💛
I love that we are finally getting back to celebrating and practicing elegance. I'm so elated to see beautiful young people (male and female) coming back to a place where presenting your best self is appreciated.
Pffff... Why I didn't have those advices?! I am so sorry that I had etiquette lesson in my school, but the teacher didn't know anything about that. Or maybe we've talk obvious things, but nothing about what to do in a hotel, or in other country, what to do with other cultures, etc.

I love pearls. In fact, my first jewelry purchase as young a child was a pink-pearl necklace from a dime store. Now I have real pearls. I never have enough pearls. Earrings, necklaces, and bracelets, in every color and size.
I love them too! My 19 year old daughter does also, and to my surprise, when I returned to college last year, I discovered many of my younger classmates love pearls and wear them daily, but not exactly as their grandmothers did, there are many nice options today.
I do love, and have pearls. Have some family heirloom, and I wear some of them. Mostly earrings or a pendant, rather than a necklace, but sometimes for formal events it works, with a dark dress.

Thanks for sharing all this tips with us. The world became sort of tacky nowadays and it's so refreshing to have someone on RUclips reminding and explaining about style and elegance
Agreed. I would never wear bare legs to church, even in the summer and even in a maxi skirt. I'm traditional Catholic and we do so much genuflecting and kneeling and bowing. Too much movement and awkward positions to risk a wardrobe malfunction.
Yes, but if you’re having an intimate encounter they can be mood-wrecking. When I HAVE TO wear stockings, I wear thigh highs and a garter belt. I feel like whomever invented pantyhose HATED women.
I love pearls and wear them since I was a teen, it’s still very classic and feminine and I don’t think it looks old fashioned if it’s a single pearl or very small ones
I live in the Southern part USA - pearls are a sign of a ladylike lifestyle. It’s a cultural thing, and they are highly valued!! Some cultures really do value pearls.
I knew about the nude stockings and I recently added them to my wardrobe as I level up. I find myself reaching for them each time I wear a dress. I didn’t know about the diamonds and pearls rule but I’m up for the challenge to find a way to add pearls into my outfits 💎✨
Hey lovely lady, about the pearls.... I am your age and I don't wear my pearls as often but I couldn't feel more fashion forward when I do wear them!! Think: Carrie Bradshaw. She wore pearls and is a fashion icon - maybe not always lady-like but she did land a billionaire ;) I used to work on Rodeo Drive as a stylist and I agree with all of your fashion tips - but I encourage you to wear your pearls!! Mine are from Tiffany & Co. , the longest strand available... and I have matching earrings too
I have found sizing up with Spanx or similar items makes them far more bearable and actually smoother...however them or hose in Arizona when it’s 110 or more 🥵 may not happen! And yes, a pair of drop pearl earrings would look amazing with what you have on! Flight attendants always have two pairs of shoes, one for in airport when people can see their feet and a comfortable pair on the plane when they don’t but still in compliance.
Pro tip on pearls: Single-strand necklaces with same-size pearls are really difficult to pull off. It's not so much that they make you look old, but they were the most popular style in the 80's and thus look rather dated. If you want to wear pearls, you might want to look for a *vintage graduated pearl necklace* with more than one strand, but of relatively small pearls. They are very dainty, easy to wear, and because they were exceedingly popular in the 1940's and 50's, there's plenty of high quality imitation pearl necklaces to be found in internet marketplaces for next to no money. I have a double- and a triple-strand graduated pearl necklace (both vintage faux pearls nearly indistinguishable from the real thing) and I get complimented each time I wear them.
Yes, you are right, and also the single strand/size in a flattering colour to your complexion, can look pretty with a vintage outfit. A cardigan used as a sweater? It's something you can wear as an heirloom piece you have inherited. One of those things that can be a conversation starter. Always wear those things that are passed on lovingly, unless you really dislike them! Just try to find the right combination. If you are confident in your own eye, you can make your own rules.
Yes you are SO right. I bought a 19” graduated strand of saltwater pearls and they go with all my 18” necklaces or by themselves. I wear them all the time.
When I was doing my A Levels in high school, stocking were part of our school uniform. It was a must for us girls to wear them even during the summer or in winter when we were wearing slacks. I don’t think I would have a problem with wearing them again if I decided to. We would wear heels for school as well
I have just realized I am one of those "too stricte" serious formal women, just by nature, I feel comfortable dressing and behaving like that, but a lot of people dont understand . Sometimes I try to relax and cool, but its not natural. I never Wear bare legs or sneakers but for jogging...

“I can’t take anymore body parts!” I completely agree. Too much of it out there! 😮
Absolutely! Less is more! I blame pornography, and burlesque type culture in entertainment! If you put it away a bit more, there is value in mystery!

Women in the 60s did not work.
Thats the work they had
Even in Europe,

My grandma was very elegant. She used to do her fine laundry on mid-high heals and wear hosiery at all times, even in summer. One more thing she used to do was to wear a beautiful scarf on her hair when going out on windy days or days where there was a lot of dust outside. She was incredible careful with her hair and her hair was always very clean and had a wonderful smell. I always loved her shoes and her purses. She was so classy in all aspects.... I love pearls so much, specially only good quality, real pearls. I will never, ever wear fake pearls. Thank you for another wonderful video🌺

Ladies, my employer sent us to finishing school. The appropriate manners, the untaught customs, having my colors done, applying subtle make up, learning modest and demure behavior, has released career success for me. Have fun!
@She’s so Lucky Hi. I personally think we better skip spanx and never skip gym
Zhanel Sh If that works for you, enjoy. For many, however, this is neither realistic nor desirable. Even while staying fit, many, many women will still feel the need for Spanx or will still be deemed in need of shape wear. Women have babies and their bodies naturally change. In general, most women have squishy parts. We evolved to survive famine, not to look sleek in a sheath dress. For most, our lives are better spent staying healthy, accepting the rest, and getting back to work.
A smooth silhouette is elegant, but it can be achieved with the right clothes and the right fit.

Donald Speller I agree, her reasoning is really what gets through to me

I think it makes sense.
sashakimi31 I like this.
It depends on so many variables, I guess...
I love that she speaks pausingly,it's totally beneficial to our comprehension
i can’t be the only one who was taught to remove hats and hoodies in the classroom/educational/respectful requires.
I was until we got a new principal who said that ladies should never be told to remove their hats under any circumstances
And that it’s disrespectful to tell a lady to remove her hat
The point about the hat surprized me a lot. I was always taught, that wearing a hat inside is rude and impolite (I‘m german-polish). My family as well as school were very strict about this. Wearing a hat during dinner would have never crossed my mind!
wearing a hat indoors reminds me of the Victorian era.
yes! i would actually think its kind of rude to wear a hat during dinner.
Wearing hat inside is banned for men. Women can wear hat even in the church.
You're wearing a color that looks absolutely beautiful on you.
I love that we are finally getting back to celebrating and practicing elegance. I'm so elated to see beautiful young people (male and female) coming back to a place where presenting your best self is appreciated.

Since Anna did he color consulting, you can tell a difference in her outfits.
You can wear two pairs of pearls sets together if thin and single strand
I heartily agree!!
