Hi Ben - For someone like me that is not over keen on modern railway layouts I just adore yours.
It can only be the way you have displayed it and the excellent modelling surrounding the trackwork.
Love the way you go about creating a building from real life. Always an asset when you can google it like that, gets a bit harder when you go back to the 1940's.
I find it amazing how the 2mm workmen keep all the hardstanding's on the layout so immaculate LOL
    Regards Chris

Cheers Chris, yes that is the advantage of modelling present day, google earth provides, plus you can go there! I do have a really nice book actually of Stafford in the old days including the flood of the station in 1946.
Yeh those workmen are equipped with hardstanding polish!

Hi Ben, Great video, the layout is really coming together now. Think your buildings are amazing. I’m really inspired to have a go myself, although I doubt my modelling wouldn’t be anywhere near the level of yours. Keep the videos coming, loving following progress. 👍

Beautiful work there. It's really nice to see modelling of a real area.
Good to see the pendolino, mine also had huge derailing issues when I first got them. Could be back to backs (worth checking), but mine came down to the couplings that restricted the movement of the bogies, as they were so rigid, they struggled over points, going around corners and definitely would not go up inclines. My motor units were completely un-speed matched therefore the coaches regularly decorated the layout in spectacular fashion. From what I see this later, newer batch seem to run much better, but issues still remain.

Thanks, yes agree they are very tighty coupled and expose any slight misalignment in the height of the track joins, after 30 mins they started derailing on certain areas, will have to do some surgery on those areas. Overall though agree this new batch run better.

Hi Ben - great bit of work on the new section of the layout and loved the running sections throughout the video. Interesting about the Pendolino - i purchased the 9 car in Flowing Silk livery. Like you i had derailing issues on a few bits of the layout. I discovered the Revolution back to backs vary on every wheelset from 7.5mm to 7.74 mm. Farish wheel sets range from 7.24 to around 7.4mm. I swapped Revolution's wheel sets with Farish ones and virtually all the derailments stopped !! Only derailments now are on a couple of crossovers where medium radius points are used. Cheers Euan

Thanks Euan, yes your virgin silk livery pendos look very nice on your layout and you have a lot more curves on yours. The wheel difference and swap is interesting to know, might try that if it persists. The main problem was some track misalignment on one the board edges, and they are very low to the ground arent they and catch easily. They ran fine for 20 mins and then started derailing in that section, so some track adjustments might be required. Generally they were ok over the points.

Hi Ben . what a great update 👍Stafford is certainly coming together . sorry to hear about he pendolino , just a thought about that issue , have a look at the couplings , i also had the same issue when i brought mine , had it off the track and found some of the couplings were a tad tight . But runs really great ( also had the same with my 321's but thats another story !!! )

Cheers Andrew, it ran pretty well for the most part actually, derailments were probably more due to my baseboard ends misaligned track and an S curve I have on one end.

Probably doesnt like S-Curves 😂Anyway forgot to say the Malcoms dont look bad at all . Quite impressed . I am now building a Train i saw at Stafford last week that i was impressed with . Building the St Blazey - Cliffe Vale Clay Train with JIA Hoppers ( EFE Rail make them in N Gauge both Ex-Works and weathered Actually look mor battered than weathered !!! )

Fantastic detail, love the build. What are the dimensions of your layout and what method did you use to join the tracks on the baseboard joins. I am building a modular n gauge layout in my garage and was just after a few tips, Regards James

Cheers Its 15.5ft by 8ft each side approx 56cm wide, I had to do a retro fit of alignment dowels between the boards, 10mm dowels, as the bolts werent rigid enough, put a search in Ebay for model rail alignment dowels and you should find them.
