    87 bhp 1.4L Diesel engine in an executive class sedan..Does Toyota even take India seriously? Seems like they are only serious about the tour operator segment with cars like Etios and Innova.

      Toyota are known for longevity. I have test drove both the Jetta and the Corolla and find the Jetta a much better handling car and fun to drive. It appears to be more well made. Not to mention the Corolla 1.8 is only 130hp with 127 foot lbs of torque and the Jetta 1.4 turbo has 150 hp with 184 foot lbs of torque.. It depends on what you want. Both are good cars and will take you anywhere you want to go.

      @MrBALAKUMARA 7 лет назад

      Robert Brumley wrong. It depends upon the driver, it doesn't matter tsi or tdi, what matters is the gear shifts, in diesel engine torque will come at very early rpm and may blow the petrol engine away at greater rpm or petrol has great pickup which could kicks the ass of tdi...it's all depends upon driver.

      All Natural VW somehow is a reasonably priced car as it's spare part & maintenance not like Audi or BMW, I experienced many models Golf Mk4, Mk5, Jetta Mk6 & all I bought them as low mileage used cars, really other than simple frequent maintenance no any big issue,I donot know why your mechanic said that but may be your country have no VW dealers or 2nd hand spare parts?.

    • @AllNatural7
      @AllNatural7 8 лет назад +1

      A R.A he stated while working on other customers VW, he experienced those issues. One customer couldn't drive her car for a week waiting on a part for her window which would not wind back up.
      I'm in the states (NC). He suggested Domestic like Chevrolet or Buick or even a Hyundai. I don't care for either.
      I've only owned Toyota's, Honda's and Nissan's...not feeling Domestics, and German Engineering rocks. My parents have both BMW (X3 & X5). Dad doesn't want me to get one due to the expensive parts. I understand.
      I will have to look into from where those VW parts are shipped.
      THANK YOU IMMENSELY!

    Am sure many people who say shit about corolla, hasn't owned one. no doubt it cannot be compared to vw when it comes to drivability. because it's German and also costs more, Cabin quality of VW is good, but it cant bare the extreme temperature. for example the engine cover becomes soo brittle after few years that you can easily brake with bare hands. oil leaks and oil leakage is common problems in middle east. corolla is a amazing car on its own way. you invest money on it and it will not let you down, Wether it's running costs or reliability . Honda civic is no doubt fun to drive compared to corolla, but it's not worth money you pay for it. few years old civic, I could see the buttons fall out, cabin glove cover broken. but engine is good. flip side is too much of engine noise entering the cabin when you drive at high speed. parts are also expensive. that's why you can see toyota is world leader when it comes to automobiles.

    • @RobertBrumley60
      @RobertBrumley60 8 лет назад +6

      I don't hear anybody talking chit about Corolla's. I do however hear people talking about the higher quality and more powerful VW Jetta. Corolla's are good transportation cars but they are a little lower priced and for a reason. I know you never drove a Jetta before because you would know the difference. German engineering is much better.

      Audi and BMW are just as bad if not worse. Their parts are more expensive than VW's. Go ahead and get the VW. They seem to last a long time. I have a friend with a 2000 Jetta that has 220 thousand miles on it. Although it's time time replace it because the expensive parts for it isn't worth it and she got more than her monies worth out of it.

      Robert Brumley thank you much! I had the pleasure of driving one for 3 days while waiting on my car to be repaired after someone hit it & I recently rented one from Hertz to visit my parents in another state. I must say, as much as I abhor driving, this vehicle was absolutely super fun to drive! It took to the road very well, smooth around curves, got great gas mileage, more than enough torque & HP for me, and I really felt safe/secure in it. I'm 5'2 and petite, and it felt good being hugged/snuggled by the sides of the seat. I did use a chair pillow for some height.
      I've only had Toyota's, Honda's and Nissan's, but German Engineering rocks! My parents had a BMW X5, but downgraded to X3 and like you said Robert those part are expensive which is one reason why my dad doesn't want me to purchase one.
      The vehicle I own now has 250,359 miles, nice body, good quality paint and runs pretty well, but dad would feel more comfortable if I got something current - it's a 1997. Yes 1997. No need for me to trade it in ... I would probably only get $300 for it,...LOL.

    -If you want more comfort and stability in high velocity which you will need at long trips, go for Jetta.
    -If you want a car to drive in city traffic jam mostly, go for Corolla.
    -Also, both of them has different feeling for driving because of difference between Japanese and German engineering. So you better get a test drive on both to make your final decision.

    did he just use "executive luxury segment" and Toyota Corolla in the same sentence?! Oh dear! If a Corolla is India's idea of an executive and/or luxury car, I think they have a longgggggggg way to go

    • @mickeygarg
      @mickeygarg 9 лет назад +1

      +damieg82 yes, because in India, same model cars are relatively more than 100% costlier, compared to UAE and US. And this segment is dying.

    • @damieg82
      @damieg82 9 лет назад +3

      +ACHAL GARG I hear you. Where I live in the Caribbean, we pay 75-100% more for cars as well, but no one hear considers a Corolla a luxury car. We know we pay more for cars but we don't attribute greater esteem and importance to a car simply because of that. We simply view the situation as paying a ton of money for crappy econoboxes

      Also, here we have a 200-hp Sport version with a multilink rear suspension and optional DCT.
