    Sat it one at the Chicago auto show. Fits me and I'm 6'1 285lbs, so that was nice.

      I view the GRC vs WRX thing the same way as the Miata Club/Recaro vs BRZ. I'd rather have the GRC and Miata as my 2 car solution, but I don't think they're worth $10,000 more than the Subaru alternatives.

    • @jasonmoyer
      @jasonmoyer Год назад +1

      Yeah I don't buy cars as investments. If Toyota continues to create artificial scarcity, then they'll probably be worth something. If they build enough to satisfy demand overal several years, they'll be worth less. Car values aren't about how good the cars are, they're about supply and demand.

    • @BigMeechEJ25

      Not sure if you ended up going with one car or the other, but as an ex subaru guy I went with a GRC. I'm 6'4 and about 250 and I'm surprisingly comfortable in it. But true the base WRX you could get for cheaper and is a more practical car.

    So, I'm very unfamiliar with a small 3-cylinder engine that is only 1.6L but still makes the same amount of horsepower as the Type R that has 1 more cylinder and .5 Liter more. Does that mean that this engine has been given tons amount of boost and will stress out the engine and/or longevity? People always say turbo engines don't last as long as NA engines, so an engine set up like this makes me wonder why Toyota went with it. Either way, for the time being, it sounds amazing and pretty powerful!

    • @amr1t_

      I think despite it running a lot of boost, the engine was originally built to be their homologated WRC engine and would handle a lot more. Some people have been running 400+ horsepower on the stock internals of the GR yaris for a while, which is the same engine with a slightly different exhaust setup. But We haven't really seen the long long term of it since that's only been out since 2020

    Thanks for covering the ride quality. I live a couple miles away from where you started off in the video, and as you know the roads in SE Michigan are in total disrepair. Been thinking about one of these as a daily/occasional autocross car (I have a dedicated track car), but I want something with a decent ride quality.

    Interior with piano black, hard plastics, high seating position and no arm rest are deal breakers for that much money. If you can even get it for MSRP. At least over at Honda they tried to differentiate Type R from bargain bin Civic interior. This GR, other than leather steering wheel looks just like Corolla LE interior.

    • @gilboman

      they spent their money on drivetrain and chassis. You should see how awful the interior in a 100k+ porsche GT4 lol

      Bro the only difference between the type r n a regular civic are the seats , carpet and steering. So don’t act like the type r interior is unique. Now the civic line does have a better interior then the Corolla line.

    • @mharro88
      @mharro88 Год назад

      @@JG-mg3if agreed it's still a shitbox interior with subpar tech. No heated seats no cooled seats no sunroof and no heated steering wheel. The Hyundai n sedan has all that and it's 15k AUD less here in Australia. lol

      The GR86 definitely needs turbo power, cause its way to capable of a chassis, it deserves more than 228HP. The 86 would be a beast with this engine, actually giving it some torque would be nice.

    what an epic "economy" enthusiast's car.. really sucks its already getting marked up to wazoo and out of the hands of plenty of people who'd buy one though.. and hopefully they'll eventually make some of the nice options in the Circuit Edition available in the Core as well; can't help but feel like those leather seats and LSD's should've been standard in a car going for 40k. Regardless, Toyota continues to help save the [mostly] affordable-fun-car market :)
