- Electric Porsche 928 EV8 conversion continues.
Today's jobs: Fabricate engine mounts and fit the EV motor in the right place.
Bleed the troublesome brakes
Removing more unnecessary stuff
Keep smiling
Crystal Green. The lighter colour highlights the incredible curves of the stunning body
I am a fan of Matt’s mechanical skills! This has been a great series.
Take a look at Nato Green or other Olive Green latest Porsche colours 😊
Mint green for me!
Vote for mint green here. Loving this series. No bs build. Epic
Thank you. Your handle "could_try_harder" appeared regularly on my high school reports from the Headmaster who didn't know me from a bar of soap. Good handle!
Hi Stu, Matt's doing a great job on the fabrication! For seats consider Recaro LX's (about $3k) and for teh colour Wimbledon Green, or check out the first Porsche metallic green Lago Green Metallic, that came out in 1956 on 356's
Ooh Lago Green very nice. Not seen that before. Did you notice you appeared in the IONIQ 5N video, squeezing your 6'6" frame in the back seat?
I've always loved the "Crystal Green Metallic"
Wimbeldon green brother! Glad to see you guys back in the 928 EV saddle. Keep up the excellent work. Your mechanic partner is a wonderful fella and a gem, you better throw him some green too!
Loved the Tenmil Sokhet Wanted Poster, Stu!
.
Not my original work, sadly. But yes, I laughed too.
Great work Matt.
Agree!
Definitely crystal green, best colour for this one IMHO.
It's very classy isn't it
@@inCARnationAustralia yes, I think it suits the car really well and the conversion as well. Just something about that colour that seems to fit. I also look forward to seeing what you're going to do to the interior!!! But still more interested in the technical side of things, that is the most interesting part to me. There is just something poetic about taking one of the dino juice guzzling dinosaurs of Porsche and turning it into an EV. The Crystal Green just seems to fit that transformation :).
As an ex-owner of a Moss Green 928S, I would opt for the Wimbledon Green!
Glad to see you still making some progress, Stu! Keep the original seats, just get them recovered (and restuffed if necessary).
Crystal green metallic, for sure!
Mint Green out of those choices. But my preference would be "Signal Gruen"
Crystal green is a great colour.
Hey Stu , My 1st 928 i repainted Rivierra Blue as it had a blue interior , suits the 928 well too .
I had visions of you painting it Birch Green , a very vivid colour and would suit an EV 928s curves well (i think) .
Riviera Blue is a bit strident for me, and Birch Green is waaay too vivid for me. It's like a Pine-Lime Splice. But thanks for the suggestions.
Great content. My vote is for Wimbledon Green…with tan interior.
make sure you leave room in there for a good speaker to make it roaaarrrr. Wimbledon green mate.
Mint green 👍
Just seen a 911 in Aventurine Green - would make a 928 look very smart !
Given it's a Porsche with an MG electric motor, how about Bentley racing green and Ferrari biscuit interior ?
Also, given that you're not bothered about the back seats, shift the motor so the drive shafts are straight on, improve weight balance as a bonus ?
Recaros would look good, are they ok for long journeys ? A good upholsterer would make the Porsche seats look perfect.
Looking forward to the next episode. PS you can buy 10mm sockets in bulk !
LIND GREEN METALLIC... is like … lind green metallic, a true 928 colour!
option 4 - Oak green metallic, option 5 Ice green metallic
I rebuilt ALL of my S4s brake system, calipers, master and booster, braided lines. it works!
Wimbeldon Green for sure!!
I am keen to see what seat option you go with and how you mount it. I keep going around circles looking for an option for mine. The originals need work but as mine is a sun roof car I would like to find more clearance. If you could indicate when your new ones are in wether they are any lower, that would be great. Because its your car go mint green. I wouldn't be game enough.
When we get to painting I'll tally up the votes and let the viewers decide. I think Crystal Green is just in front at the moment. But yes, stay tuned re: the seats
Mint Green 💯
Great video Stu, pity about the engine shift, but no doubt many more trials and tribulations to come but overall great progress and you both should be very proud
Love the humour and videography
I'm in the process of tackling vacuum lines on my '82 and now wish mine was electric :)
Have you tried other 928 bits suppliers, Rose Passion, Design 911 and Pelican Parts also great
Greatings from always sharp as a drill Kiwi
Yes aware of them and have used Pelican and a couple of others a bit.
I'm a fan of Kiwi enginuity (do you like that? I just came up with that). I worked for an innnovative NZ technical company for many years last century, so big respect for Jade Software, Britten Motorcycles and especially Rodin cars, although their founder is an Aussie from Sydney.
@@inCARnationAustralia forgot in first post, Wombledon Green for me Great Uncle Bulgaria would surely agree
We haven't done too badly with Enginuity, Burt Munro would take the cake with No 8 wiring mentality
Jade SW is a stalwart of Christchurch, many an Aussie vs NZ battles of Rugger and Cricket fought on Jade Stadium (Lancaster Park), my younger days spent going to Concerts there too
We had similar earlier fate, I too went to Varisty to study Engineering and pulled out in second year
Wimbledon green colour !
Mint Green
crystal green
Wimbledon Green ;)
Amazon Green or... Hellblau Metallic. I'd steer very clear of the mint green on a 928
I already do have a Hellblau Metallic 928 with black/white pasha interior. It always gets positive comments and does look lovely.
Wimbledon Green.
It's Wimbledon Green for my taste.
Colour: The blue car next to the 928 is a great colour
If its to save a classic that otherwise would be scrapped, i am onboard with the ev conversion
no metallic color pleas, have being waiting for your content and looking foreward to the next one, sorry i did not like any of your colour choices but the Mint green is ok. greatings from Iceland.
In order, option 2, 1 and 3
Wimbleton Green
Amazon Green Metallic with tan and black interior
When are we getting some non EV content on the 928 :) As I am the last generation probably enjoying these wonderful V8’s i was so much drawn into you stories on them. The quality of you video’s is top notch but the charm of the old original engines is so addictive!
If you haven't seen them, there are at least 4 other all-petrol 928 videos on the channel, including tech tips, road trip, and review. But thank you for the compliment. Sadly though, lots of upcoming videos are going to focus on the EV side before we end up retrimming and repainting the car, then adding back the classic V8 sound (outside the car). Finally of course is what I most look forward to - the registration and driving the thing.
