im currently having a preLP Gallardo with manual box. Its a great car!! Just get one you wont regret it. 2 of my friends moved from Ferrari to Gallardo and they loved this so much!
I got stuck in a traffic jam on the M25 when my wife was 7 months pregnant. That was fun. Worth it for the roads in the Cotswolds at the other end though
This is also one of my favourite modern classics, I like the timeless pinsharp styling as opposed to the Huracans jelly mould type of styling . These will become highly collectable in years to come , produced in very limited numbers and they weren't churned like the huracan performantes were , I would " buy the dip " before they rise , they will become the lamborghini equivalent of the Porsche 2.7 RS. Nice provenance on that particular one too, bonus. ! 👍👍👏👏

Had the pleasure of driving one of these for a week x 2 times back in 2012 as part of being a member of a Super car Club that was based on pay a yearly fee and you had 20 plus supercars to use whenever. What a fabulous experience this machine it is. I actually owned a R8 V8 at the same time and it left it in the shade for the experience. Remember closing the drivers door and it always sounded cheap and horrible with a rattle and clank from the carbon fiber door card(obviously the cost is the opposite) and the seats were hard and oh dear the egear was emotional and rough, but the trick was to full fuel lift just before the change in a nano second and then plant it again. I would own one in a heartbeat if my wife would let me as it ticks all the human senses boxes and emotions in multiples times 10. Never driven a car that made you a instant rock star so much back in 2012.It was a absolute magnet. Drive a Porsche now and a bit older and really happy with my lot.
STG goes local. Drive the World has arrived in my village. Not only did you film in the street where I work but also the street where I live. I thrash my Cayman GTS on that very road. Great content as usual Sam. Keep up the good work. Cheers.
I own this car in black. We are a small club, only 8 RHD left in the country. It’s the most fun you could ever have and will beat anything on a track due to its corner handling. It’s a rare find as none of us ever sell and a great investment. Buy it!! Happy to answer and questions if you want to contact me x (NO TO MARK 2 💀)
I don’t know how you only have 490K subs while that’s a lot but the cinematography of your videos on top of the cool cars and great reviewing blows my mind should be a easy million subs
MK1 Superleggera !!!! I love this car !!! In addition, the sound is incomparable. this car is currently underestimated. Is at least as cool as a Scuderia. Sound certainly more special.
The Lamborghini Superleggerra was my introduction to performance cars when I was 12 years old. My mom traded some Disneyland tickets for a charity in exchange for a Lamborghini ride to my school dance. The owner took the VERY long route to my school which I could walk to in a just a few mins and made sure it was the most memorable Lamborghini Demo ride ever. Showed no restraint to the throttle and made sure to show off the braking performance. I’ve been a gear head ever since. The only difference was the yellow stitching on the seats. Other than that this spec looks completely identical.
My neighbor & good friend @godspd07 has a Mark 1 strait-piped gated-manual and I’d say the Gallardo is one of the best Lamborghini’s to own as a real car. Love them and that SL is beautiful Sam! 🙌
This would be massive not just for your channel but your level of content is unbelievable. It would be amazing to see Lamborghini content but with the film quality of yours. Dont get me wrong Paul makes good Lamborghini content but none on RUclips has the high quality of filming than you do so to see Lamborghini content even better the Mk1 Gallardo Superleggera would be incredible. Would love to see you take it to the Selvio Pass that would be the best video content not just on RUclips but ever. I would love to see you in this car. Incredible video as always 👍
That sound is just silky smooth, I don’t know that make any sense but I really do love the way it sounds, I think Gallardo aged very well, still look modern, so it looks great, sounds amazing I think you should get one straight away.
I shot a house here in Australia and they had a Superlegerra in the colour of this one but with black wheels. Plus, their driveway lifted up and there was a JetSki underneath, so there’s that.
Sam from one bald headed 360 owner to another 👍🏻it’s Ferrari all the way but if your gonna go for a Lamborghini and I’m seriously considering one my self I think go for an early hurricane totally up to date looks handling and build quality which would give you that extra little bit of luxury and I believe there coming down in price nice ones out there for around 120k ! Great channel mate 👍🏻
The Supercar Rooms is literally a stones throw away from me! They do open days/car meets from time to time where they get some of the cars out. You should totally come to the next one, if/when they start doing them again! You should also totally get the Superleggera!
Good for you, Sam, for trying something new. I drove a Superleggera along with a 458 Italia at a Las Vegas exotics track experience a few years ago. I came away raving about the 458, and feeling *blah* about the Lambo. Whereas the 458 felt razor-sharp and immediately responsive, like an extension of your mind/body, the Lamborghini felt dull and slow to respond to inputs, like driving a truck. Maybe that particular example was just in rough shape?
Sam, it's all good buddy! The Gallardo is one of the nicest Lambos of all time, and it is the very best way to initiate yourself into Lambo ownership. Buying the Superleggera is first step flexing my friend. This would be a great car to add to the garage, Sam. However, you are correct in stating that if you were to go 'all-in', you may find that down the line this year, other goal possibilities maybe affected. On the upside, Gallardo's will still be available down the line as well. Decisions, decisions!
Sam, after owning a gallardo with Larini exhaust for about 5 years in Singapore, I’m here to tell you, just get it. It’s one of my biggest regrets to export the car. It was one of the few cars that put a smile on my face and really really got me into driving, you wouldn’t mind driving it three times a week. Yes indeed the Lambo world is different but promise you that early ones such as this Superleggera will always, always put more smiles on your face with satisfaction.
Wow, that's a stunning collection of cars in there 😍 You certainly seem at home in that lambo Sam 🙂, I think Paul Wallace is finally rubbing off on you 😁😄 But that's a Cracking choice if you definitely go that way 👍🏻 and Boy does that one sound good with that exhaust 😊 And the spec looks lovely too 🙂👍🏻 If you get a chance, try and get out in the Renault 😊🙂👍🏻
I'm not a big fan of Lambo's also I don't hate them. I think it's like Marmite and Bovril. Sam I understand now why you would like to get a Gallardo, your reasoning is spot on. One can only say they hate something as soon as they experienced it. Good luck for the future Sam, this Covid just caused havoc in the world.
Wow, Eric Clapton is a pretty cool name to have associated with the car, might even help with it's future value vs other examples. I'd love to see you drive more of the "modern classic" Gallardos though before you decide to take the plunge or not, it's such an interesting era of Lambo. Loving the new logo on your socials btw.
That Top Gear episode is one of my all time favourite episodes of any show on TV, and made in instant fan of the mk1 Gallardo Superleggera! I'd have one over a Huracan Performante any day.
Goddammit sam! You and your friends are the best car youtubers because you guys shows us awesome cars and content, but y'all also motivate the hell out of me.
Would be a dope purchase for sure, the Gallardo has always felt like such a defining moment in Lambo history. Like the bridge between the new and the classics.
You and Shmee are some of the few if not only channels right now who are not Lambo biased and it is kind of nice. Honestly, I would rather see you sport that Renault and get up to some teenage angst.
That surprised you..I have a Perf and 458 Spider, the Perf is like a modern day Ferrari they never made..V10 lambos make the best sound of any car, manual car would be the best long term investment...great video, Paul would be proud of you
Have owned mine for about 3 years now, it's without a doubt the best Gallardo iteration out there. The LP versions are more refined, but don't sound that good (5.0 vs 5.2L V10), and none are as raw as the original SuperG. And yes, the Lamborghini Orange County exhaust really opens it up. Video on my channel of a fly-by.
Great review - I think you should try out a few others before deciding on the Superleggera. Enjoyed the video. Givin it a thumbs up and staying subscribed for plenty more to come

Sam... was a proud owner of a Grigio telesto 08 example for over 3 years and tons and tons of road trips and miles..... I never had to take it to the shop for anything other than normal maintenance, me and my buddy beat the hell out of it whether in the Denver mountains and snow, canyons in California, moab desert and mountains it was such an unreal machine and I miss it so so so much.... I traded for a performante spider and am 50/50 in regret , I love what I have now but miss that super g endlessly as well. Enjoy it in the best of health and if you ever need any help or info with it let me know. Ps I had a Larini exhaust and it sounded amazing... also on low speed driving keep your foot in on throttle and shift you get a loud pop from the intake throttle bodies open and closing , also, going to neutral at every light is bullshit, Roy cats and a lambo tech debunked the myth on lambo forums, keep your foot firm on brake at any stop and it’s disengaged ! I used hardly any clutch in over 3 years on my snap shot like 5-6% and 10k miles .... pps a lot of people think the cars gearbox lags worse than it is and it’s really esc intruding and cutting power and throttle on hard up shifts without esc turned off, turn it off you can spin rears coming around corners and in first, it’s a mechanical rear diff and allows a lot of red bias fun
Would love to see you channel get a mid 90s Ferrari. 355 or 348. Classic track car for cruising montages. 🤙🏼 Great job as always Sam! Crazy to see you excited about a Lambo! Ha
Like you, I'm not a huge Lamborghini fan and I don't really lust after them. But I have to admit, this is special 👌🏻 Just the sound alone and the fact Eric "legend" Clapton owned it is enough of a reason to get it 😁
So I bought the "wrong" Gallardo last year ('04 gated with 65k miles and some "lambro" added by prior owner), in the course of un-pimping it and getting it hopefully track-worthy I can say a couple of things about the platform: It's shockingly easy to drive just "around" at least in the 'States, and it's also shockingly easy to work on having done a few DIYs at this point. I would expect a well maintained G1 Gallardo to be near-Porsche reliable and, when things do go wrong, the bill probably won't be crippling. You have to do some research but, if you have a clever shop, many parts cross reference to Audi or even VW parts catalogs which can avoid the Lamborghini "tax" to some extent. It'd be fun to see you in one, but probably a little weird as well given your usual preferences 😅
Hi Sam I am the current owner of this exact car and I agree with everything you say about it. I did see you didn't mention the famous Lamborghini test driver that has signed the sun visor. I also have a letter from Lamborghini saying this is the last ever MK1 superlaggera ever produced making it number 618 of 618 ever made, so this also means every Lamborghini after this exact model has a Audi produced engine and sound wise the Audi engine doesn't come close to sounding as good as this one.
Either First Gen or LP series is a great option. They are highly reliable and don't cost an arm to maintain or fix. Also you can do plenty of tasteful mods (e.g. converting First gen to LP bumpers etc. without destroying the car or value) making for some good video content.
The one you just test drove is a stunning spec with a unique history. You probably won't lose any money it. But it and enjoy it. Sell it when you're done. Win
What a great design. Might be my new favorite. I can agree with newer versions of things have less appeal for me. Chevrolet Silverado trucks are my favorite between 1985 and the late 90s, but mostly 1985/86. The boxed body style with the 1980s look and feel. Some Gallardos with the rounded out back of the body where the wheels are I could care less for. Could care less for the more rounded out styles. I like the more boxed, pointy yet still sleek styles.
Im really surprised to see that you fit so well. My neck was literally at 90 degrees when I tried to drive the Super Trofeo Stradale last year and I think we are a similar height. Perhaps this has different seats? It was awesome to drive though.. Absolulely unforgettable.. I get your new found fascination!
My opinion, it’s your first crack at one seriously, so have a play with others before pulling the trigger. Have fun with the journey...and take us along for the ride too 👍🏻😁

Sam... was a proud owner of a Grigio telesto 08 example for over 3 years and tons and tons of road trips and miles.....
I think the MK1 sounds better because it was a 5.0 as apposed to the later 5.2 that was used in the LP and R8. Does sound amazing
Find one with the rare on-track option = rear cage and harness, it suits the SL perfect. Also full CF interior option is great.
Get the manual rwd one in the showroom 👌🏼 It will hold its value best and what a car!!
Great spec, very stealth fighter. Such an emotionally engaging car.
This would be a great addition Sam! Insane that it was Eric’s car.....🤯🤟 The car and its history, hope u bought it
Would love to see you channel get a mid 90s Ferrari. 355 or 348. Classic track car for cruising montages. 🤙🏼 Great job as always Sam! Crazy to see you excited about a Lambo! Ha
Like you, I'm not a huge Lamborghini fan and I don't really lust after them. But I have to admit, this is special 👌🏻 Just the sound alone and the fact Eric "legend" Clapton owned it is enough of a reason to get it 😁
Please do a video on the new F-Type. Would love to hear your thoughts!
With that exhaust it has a wiff of LFA tone to it especially in the start up bit 😁
Awesome car !!! Great video, again !!, genuinely best quality on RUclips 👍🏽👏🏽
That car sounds sooo good. Nice video
Go big or go home, definitely go all in and take the plunge. Haha those cars just sound so epic. Great video as always sam 👍
Love the R26.R above all the other cars!!! Buy it Sam!
Either First Gen or LP series is a great option. They are highly reliable and don't cost an arm to maintain or fix. Also you can do plenty of tasteful mods (e.g. converting First gen to LP bumpers etc. without destroying the car or value) making for some good video content.
I never really liked the gallardo, until I saw this one. 🤤 that is a very nice specification
Of course, go and experience some other options, but please get this, it seems right for you and the car is incredible!
Great content as always👍🏼👍🏼
The one you just test drove is a stunning spec with a unique history. You probably won't lose any money it. But it and enjoy it. Sell it when you're done. Win
Great video Sam, that is a fantastic looking and sounding supercar, I'd go for it. Especially pre owned by Eric Clapton
You just earned yourself a new nickname "Short Shift Sam"
100% try out the 550-2, it's the Valentino Balboni tuned version if memory serves? Surely that's about as Porsche/Ferrari-esque as is possible?
My opinion, it’s your first crack at one seriously, so have a play with others before pulling the trigger. Have fun with the journey...and take us along for the ride too 👍🏻😁
