Same experience here as well. I met Hugh after one of his concerts in NV, he was very humble and unassuming. We talked for a few minutes and went on our own ways. A few days later, I saw him again, this time in CA at his next tour stop, and after the concert, went to say hi and he remembered my name, the name of my partner (who was unable to make it due to work), and generally was such an amazing person, to basically a stranger who he had only met once before; that's class folks, and I will always remember Hugh in that light, for how kind, caring, and the beautiful- classy soul he is!
True story: it was my 28th bday and I went to see hugh as phantom and met him at the stage door. I told him it was my bday and he took both my hands and sang happy birthday really giddily to me. I felt so loved. He’s such a kind and lovely and my god, talented!, person. 💗
I met him on January 28 this year. He was my first Phantom back in 2012. He is such a sweet man. He took like 15 minutes of his time before Sweeney Todd to talk to my friend and I and pet her dog. I feel so blessed to have met him. Such amazing talent
You can hear the beauty of his voice with no need for microphone or reverberation. Thank you for sharing this great video of what real singing is in musical theatre ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I had the opportunity to see Hugh when he was still performing on Broadway and he still has that same beautiful, haunting, dark, gentle, soulful energy that he put into his Phantom. I remembered how he brought me to tears at the end with his sobs over Christine leaving. I almost reached out to him to comfort because of how believable his cry was. Still in awe of him to this very day.
OMG, he never fails to leave me crying. I have been lucky enough to see him in Phantom. I wish I had been that woman he was singing to, although I would have been a basket case…lol.
I just turned 30 why didn't Hugh sing to me? 😂 No but seriously that would have been the greatest gift of all time. I wish I met him. I'd seen him 4 times on Broadway and he'll always be "my " Phantom. I probably won't get a chance to ever meet him now but I'm so glad to see this video.
Actually the part was written for Michael Crawford, you may have heard of him before, who is a TENOR. The music is written in the range of a Baritone/Bari-Tenor...
I met him recently. It’s true. He is so sweet and humble. I told him how great he is and he when he introduced himself he was like “Hi I’m Hugh.”

Insane how even when he got on his knees he had so much power still!!
I teared up when he grabbed her hands!
lol…I teared up before he started. ❤️
4:07 is the reason why I go to the theatre again and again. He is perfect.
Only very few can sing this male lead. Great job 💞
Maira S Very few

Bravissimo! - the best Birthday-present one could wish for!
How did I ever not like him as phantom?? He’s so good?!!!
Didn't know this was here, Hugh Panaro is a priceless talent !
That little extra finesse he did at 4:20 made me rewind instantly to hear it again

He was absolutely the best Phantom. Saw him twice in New York. Heart still thumping 💕💕
WOW! It'd be so hard to perform such an intimate number in such an intimate space. What a king.
Really? What do you mean? This is like second nature to him by now. The only challenge I see is the piano rushing him, but yea, live performance.
Absolutely Beautiful!
i love how she starts crying at the end from the song

Phantom of the Opera was the first broadway musical I saw. I was 8 and his performance changed my life!
She looks so good for 50
50 is the new 40 by far.
4:09 whew! Hugh has still got it.
Yo watching this up close is an entirely different experience. I was cheesing the whole way through. Hugh’s a legend
Bravo!!!!
OMG! He stirs feelings in my heart that I thought were long asleep..I get goosebumps just hearing him sing..
I'd totally passed out if somebody sings Phantom or like this for my birthday 😍
What an unbelievable treat
Now, this is a birthday gift!
Wow, he is so incredible. I was so incredibly lucky to see him on broadway as the phantom--what a talent!
I have no words, he's simply amazing
Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting. "Sing for me" Hugh.

Both performers are amazing
He sings professionally even on a birthday, I love that
That little improv at “toooooooooo (me)”
Back to 2012, I listened to Hugh’s music everyday after I watched his performance in Majestic. So glad to see him well
Is it too late to make a reservation so I can get this at my 50th birthday in a few decades?
That giant portrait of that naked lady in the background tho
I know- how tacky
Exquisite. 🥰
Heavenly
Magnificent!
fucccccck this is amazing
It took me 4: 37 to notice topless woman with cowboy hat. I was so spellbound by Hugh performance.
My best phantom!!
he's amazing
Que maravilhoso!!
AMAZING!!
Amazing :)
Wow ...
beautiful
Love! Where can I find this arrangement??
Beautiful performance by Hugh Panaro, but...she really 50 years old? my God she looks like 25 years old!
It's called plastic surgery & soft lighting at night, ha ha ha!
@@Chihuahuauno1 lol
wow
Wondering if anyone else noticed that painting behind the pianist
💫he💫
My last family reunion I hid in the basement with my dog because I didn’t want anyone looking at me, or talk to me.
As a tenor is good but this roll ( the phantom) was made for a Baritone.. his beautiful interpretation is lack of low notes

He’s… no Ramin
Can you just appreciate TALENT???
no, but he's also singing it good
