Not only does the mask hide too much of Colm's lovely face, but it also but it desexes Colm's masculin face. I get the dramatic point and the reference to the play. But Colm is so pretty, I enjoy seeing that.
Thank you Colm. This was one of my wife’s favorite pieces, sung by an artist that she loved. I thought I was done crying afterall it’s been 18 months since she passed… but no I’m currently weepin aver her loss all over again.

Colm, I have to tell you I have been listening to this musical since I was about 5 years old, as my older sister was a massive Sarah Brightman fan at the time, so needless to say this musical has always had a special place in my heart. However, I was never able to understand how Christine could become so captivated, so enamored of The Phantom, just through his voice. You are the first man I’ve ever heard in 27 years whose voice made that connection. This is the first time where I’ve ever felt that, yes…this is the voice that Christine could fall in love with. Bravo sir, and well done. This was pure joy. Thank you.
The swells, the vibrato, the emotions coloring your voice... Bravo, sir! This song, done well, always gives me chills, and yours is one of my favorite versions. I'm just gonna go add it to several playlista now, don't mind me!
Colm, the range that you have constantly astounds me. That vibrato? Those gorgeous high notes and baritone? The emotion? God, mate. This musical and song have been a favorite for me for over a decade, so I'm rather picky with covers, but your portrayal of the phantom -his longing and sadness- is so haunting and lovely.
On the one hand I’m really surprised by your musical range. This rendition wouldn’t out of place on the stage… on the other hand, I guess I’m endlessly unsurprised by your amazing musicality. beautiful as ever!
Well Colm, as a very choosy connoisseur of all things Phantom of the Opera and when it comes to covers I'm extremely picky, I have to say you did an excellent job of this one. Your more operatic vocals in a majority of the song really carried the weight of the song as it ought to be, and you nailed that final drawn out note quite nicely. Well done! Commendable job!
I have heard many many versions of this song but I cannot remember any version as fragile as yours, so beautiful, so haunting. The way you portray the phantom in his sadness and love towards Christine and music is just insanely beautiful. Thank you for this music of the night. I will go to Spotify right away and put it into my lists❤
I actually cried a little bit at the end, I love Phantom of the Opera, it's one of the few places that I've actually been fortunate enough to see in my life and I actually even managed to see it on Broadway even managed to see it on Broadway
This song played at my Great Grandma's funeral. She meant the world to me. She lived in my family's home since I was too young to remember. I put on the Phantom of the Opera DVD for her so often since she couldn't figure out the DVD player on her own. Hearing this brought back memories I had forgotten for a long time. You did this song such justice, thank you.

For 5:43 seconds this old lady became Christine again. This is absolutely stunning. Quite frankly the best I've heard and I heard this many times by many artist. Well done!
It's my lucky day, this is my favourite song from Phantom of the Opera. When I saw the thumbnail, I thought: yesss, it makes so much sense for Colm to cover this, he can shine both in the high and low notes, and be both powerful and bring out lots of that rare but amazing softness too, it will be perfect! And it was! This is my new favourite version, thank you! Though I have to add, your version felt like an honest Phantom opening up about what he loves, rather than the deliberate seduction I most often get from the song. Which isn't a bad thing at all. I'd follow this Phantom anywhere ;)
Discovered this cover just very recently, and it went far beyond my expectations. Just amazing how variable your voice is, it sounds like a completely different singer (in the best way possible) :)
Oh my.... Cap'n 🥰 . Your versatility is astounding, your voice intoxicating. Once again, you have excelled yourself ❤. Hi to Savannah BTW 😘 hope you're both doing well 🫶
Okay this is probably the most wondeful cover rendition I've ever heard. PotO is my favourite musical of all time and the reason why I started making music in the first place. You sang it in such a fragile, meaningful way, that was absolutely mesmerizing. I only recently found you through your heavier covers and would have never imagined you can sing emotionally like this. Awesome work!
I love this song and wanted a cover of it for a while but was unsure if Colm could do it because of how high it is. Oh, what a fool I was! I am completely blown away. This was beautiful. Just showed to my mom and we both agreed that we have never felt so completely persuaded by a phantom before😄. She loved it.
So I was listening to some of your other tracks, which I really like, the folky stuff with attitude, then this popped up in my feed and I thought 'no - way' then I listened. The rest of my world disappeared and I couldn't stop listening. So beautiful. I'm a 64 year old stocky engineer who is now sobbing his heart out!
If they ever make another Phantom movie or bring it back to Broadway, they HAVE to cast Colm as the Phantom. This was such an enchanting rendition that captures both the darkness and love within the character.
I love this show and THIS is my favorite version of this song. I wish I could see you perform this on stage! I would love to hear you cover more from the show with someone as Christine singing with you.
Absolutely love this! It's so different from your usual style of music. Definitely highlights your vocals as a singer. It's been said 'if you can sing opera, you can sing anything' and you said hold my beer. It's very impressive how you got the right tone for each word and how you held that note at the end. Also big respect for doing this song, everyone usually does the more well known song... petition for you to do some of the other songs from the Phantom of the Opera.
You really surprised me dear Colm, I didn't expect this genre from you at all. But whatever you start, you manage to perform everything perfectly! Congratulations.
Colm, please do NOT ever stop making music!!! The more I hear you, the more I love your voice! You seriously have one of the best voices I've heard and are one of the most talented people I can think of!!
This has been my favorite movie for 20 years now, and the play is even better. This rendition just gave me goosebumps the same way the original version has every time I’ve heard it.
This is exactly how this song was meant to be sung! I love it. I sing Phantom of The Opera and the high notes are insane. Singing it with you would be incredible. Pure musical talent. You’re exactly the sound I imagine when singing it.
Every song you make your own. I was curious as it's different from what I've come to expect of the songs you choose to cover. I am blown away, good sir. You've taken a musical theater standard and truly made it your own, unique and unmistakably yours. BRAVO!
WOW! I have always loved the phantom of the opera and this is one of my most liked songs in the movie, he sounds so much like Gérard Butler when he played phantom. I got chills down my arms from that. Also, I agree Melinda, Rachel Hardy, or Violet Orlandi would be perfect for the Christine parts!
Oh my god the chills I got from this! Your voice is heavenly, so strong and soft at the same time! I adore this musical so much, can't wait to hear more song covers from you!
wow! I just don't know what to do with my self i feel so swept along in the emotions. The first time i listened to it i just wanted more more that i wanted to rush. The second time i forced my self to relax and close my eyes. Both times I felt completely captivated and my body responded with goosebumps with how eerily beautiful it is. I loved that last moment when you were out of breath from that long note. You closed your eyes and looked down completely worn out and for some reason that is exactly what i wanted to see at the end of that note.

One of my favorite songs from when I was a child. It was in my mother's old cd collection of classical and opera music. I miss her and seeing this pop up, hearing it, brings back happy memories of my childhood and mom. Thank you. 🐈
*Standing applauses* Amazing....
Fantastic, plain and simple. Colms back probably hurts every night from carrying around all that talent!
Legitimately one of the absolute best renditions I’ve ever heard of this song!
You've absolutely knocked it out of the park once again, Colm. This musical holds an especially dear place in my heart, and I don't know how many times I've watched it. Thank you for another stunning performance.
If only this was still on apple music.... damn is it good.
Nighttime sharpens, heightens each sensation
Darkness stirs and wakes imagination
Silently the senses abandon their defenses
Slowly, gently night unfurls its splendor
Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender
Turn your face away from the garish light of day
Turn your thoughts away from cold, unfeeling light
And listen to the music of the night
Close your eyes and surrender to your darkest dreams
Purge your thoughts of the life you knew before
Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar
And you'll live as you've never lived before.
Softly, deftly music shall caress you
Hear it, feel it secretly possess you
Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind
In this darkness which you know you can not fight
The darkness of the music of the night
Let your mind start a journey though a strange new world
Leave all thoughts of the life you knew before
Let your soul take you where you long to be
Only then can you belong to me
Floating, falling sweet intoxication
Touch me, trust me, savor each sensation
Let the dream begin, let your darker side give in
To the power of the music that I write
The power of the music of the night
You alone can make my song take flight
Help me make the music of the night
Phantom of the Opera was the first musical I listened to, and this song was among one of my favorites. I'm really happy to hear you cover this song, hearing your take on this and the emotion behind it makes it truly powerful.
The swings between powerful and all encompassing to vulnerable and tender were phenomenal
Absolutely fantastic ❤!!!! Full body chills from this.
This brings back the feelings of watching the movie for the first time.
This was amazing. I am a metal head and am totally blown away by it.
HOLY SHIT... AMAZING.
I love that you're covering all my favorites. Thank you for the beautiful ear candy.
Here comes Colm to give me another favorite version of a song.
God bless you, beautiful man.
From intro to end i felt this in my bones and i was in tears...im a sucker for phantom of the opera...and this was one of my favorite songs
Wow, didn't know you could do that with your voice too.. Big fan of all your work, but this definitely surprised me.. would love to hear you tackle more music with this type of voice
You made me decide to finally watch the movie
Sir. As an autist artist with a special interest in PotO, you are exactly the sound that the phantom needs. You are a DREAM with that voice omfg.
Damn, dude! So glad I randomly decided to listen to sea shantys today, and came across your version of Hoist the colors. Been listening to all your songs, now, lol! This is amazing rendition of one of my favorite songs!
Oh so beautiful! I could listen to Music of the Night all day and night. Thank you for doing such a wonderful job. Stay handsome.
SOME ONE GET THIS MAN ON BROAD WAY, TOUR, STAGE, ANYTHING!!! JUST GIVE HIM WHAT HE DESERVES
This gave me goosebumps. Absolutely love it.
This is possibly the best version of this song ever recorded.
I've been listening to this musical since it was released on cassette tape in the early 90's and yours is the first rendition since Michael Crawford's that given me actual CHILLS. Absolutely beautiful!!!
It’s too good to believe that it is true
Amazing, love all the videos you post and cant wait for more. Love phantom of the opera and you did this justice.
These men from the British Isles have a very strong dominant minstrel gene in their genome, it seems.
So many great singers and bands arise from there consistently - singers and instrumentalists both.
Great performance. I can tell you put your heart in as well. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world!
Wow! I love this song since my teenage. I'm speechless. Thank you! ❤👏
I think they should hire you as phantom. You’re amazing!
