Hearing Geoff sing it so beautifully here, it's not hard to see why. (Or why Galadriel understood its importance to Gimli when they met her later in Lothlorien--she remembered seeing it all in person.)
Gandalf knew, having been there before the Doors of Durin were closed. It's why he knew where they were, but he left that way, not entered, so he didn't know how to open them from the outside.

What a beautiful cap to the tale that began in Misty Mountains with four warriors about to embark on an epic journey, continued in I See Fire with them grimly preparing to face near-certain doom and hoping they will not be forgotten, and now ended with Gimli singing of his people's glorious history, his ancestors (those same four lost warriors) appearing with him as ghosts or memories - as if their prayer to be remembered has been fulfilled. I had tears in my eyes from the first verse on. Gorgeous. The harmonies and arrangement are just perfect, but I also want to shout out that stunning instrumental track. I keep hearing so many fascinating details (the clever use of forge tools and weapons as instruments sprinkled throughout, for one). The dynamic flow of the arrangement keeps what could be a repetitive song in constant movement and feels like proper storytelling. As an enormously passionate LOTR fan, I deeply appreciate the thoughtfulness you put towards these "dwarfish" covers, Geoff. Although this finishes out the trilogy of Middle Earth covers in a satisfying way, I wouldn't say no to more covers in this world since you do such great justice to it.
Goosebumps throughout the entire video. Such an insane vocal range, the bass, the garmony, the details in the presentation, everything is perfect Thank you, algorythim, for bringing me here today 🙏
This is by far my favorite song you’ve done yet, Geoff. It is absolutely beautiful and flows so perfectly, I can’t help but close my eyes and sway to the music. And just an added note - the harmonies on ‘fishes mail’ make me shiver every time. Masterfully done. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
If my best friend was still with us I would share all of these videos with him. Being a bass himself he would have loved to see them. These help me keep his voice alive in my heart so I thank you.
The dwarves are back!! The set, the singing!! Everything is just amazing!! Those facial hairs definitely took a lot of works!! And Gimli's nose!! Thank you for taking so much effort to create this one!! ❤❤
I have been listening to this nonstop for the past few days. The vocal range here is insane, and just very chill to listen to. It honestly calms me down when I get stressed.
HOW DID I END UP HERE? Ah got it: Geoff brought me here with his absolutely stunning arrangement; starting with the lonely droplets of water and the mysterious, spherical background music that immediately catapulted me into the depths of Moira, followed by the lonely voices, each of which surprises me with its unique beauty (yes despite coming all from the same guy) that finally blend beautifully into each other and enchant me with their ethereal sound. The subtle sounds in the background (like the metallic hammering) perfectly capture the aura of Khazad-Dûm, emphasizing the vastness and splendor of the halls. The instrumentation swells further, adding epic drums and strings to tell the story of the past glorious days and the splendor of it. The sounds of forging swords and drawn blades paint heroic times of the dwarven folk on the canvas. Finally, everything returns to the present reality of the abandoned place, the singing and music reverting to the sadness and loneliness, but still retaining a sense of hope and a hint of glory. Like no other, you really know how to create an epic atmosphere and take me on a journey with your music! I'm sure that's exactly what Tolkien wanted us to feel when he wrote that poem! I love your commitment to beards, hair and costumes and the accurate recreation of the set. Kudos to Kathy as well! The backdrop looks great and Eli did a great job with the lighting!!! The beam of light coming from the top corner and the colors changing - gorgeous! Also, the way you make the other "dwarf ghosts" appear and fade out is brilliant! Thank you, Geoff, for another masterpiece!
I can't tell you how many times I've listened to this song... Geoff, you do something amazing with the songs you touch. And you touch deeply the soul itself. You evoke emotion and add meaning to the melody and words. And you inspire 🙂 Thank you
Absolutely Awesome song, talent, and video. Thank y'all for sharing your beautiful voices. Heavenly, and so very soulful. I'm totally awestruck, Geoff. Peace and love ❤❤❤
I have listened to this song at least 50 times since discovering it yesterday. I cannot stop listening to it. It is truly incredible. Superbly done... I bet Tolkien would have loved it.
This is story-telling at it's best! For me, telling a story through song always makes it more memorable, with the melody and rhyming making it easier to remember the story itself. Geoff is just so good at this, it's not even fair. Not only do we get the beautiful arrangement and instruments, but Geoff brought back not only the dwarves from Misty Mountains and I See Fire, but added Gimli into the mix (although Gimli appears to have been working out quite a bit!). The dwarves haven't lost their touch with a song! While I See Fire is still my favorite video on Geoff's channel, this one is not far behind, and from a story-telling perspective, is a little better IMO. But all of the dwarven songs have been wonderful, and this video just adds to their splendor. Kudos to everyone involved in the making of this video - Geoff, Kathy, Layne, Tony, Eli, Rick, and everyone else who helped out in creating this amazing video - and let's not forget Tommy, who supervised Geoff as he worked in the garage!
Im also a big Lotr Fan and started taking singing lessons since last year. It's magical how you manage that it feels like I would dive into a total different world. You are an inspiration with your amazing vocal range and control!
Amazing as the Clamavi de Profundis version is, I like Geoff's version better. There's more heart in it, somehow. This isn't a choir singing an epic of some long-lost king. These are the ghosts of the past, singing with hope for the future, and all of this is real to them. They remember, and their memories are bittersweet. They feel joy for what was, sorrow for all that has ceased to be, and hope for what might yet be reborn.
this is the message that tolkien wanted to express about both the elves and dwarves. the pride and beauty in what came before and the sadness and regret that comes with knowing that time is gone. but also hope of rebirth and restoration at the worlds end
I can't really agree as much as this cover is great. This one feels way too polished and it has backing synth. Clamavi de profundis is pure acapella. I love both but CDP has 1st place on this.
As allways. Another masterpiece. For me this cover is the best because i dropped some tears when i heard this "Still the sunken stars apears in dark and windless mirrormere". Thank You Geoff you made my day better than ever. Respeck from Hungary. 👍👍
HOW DID I END UP HERE? 😉 Well, since I'm here, I might as well say something. This is a stunning arrangement, and your storytelling (which is always top-notch) has very much ratcheted up with this one. I'm not a major Tolkien nerd, (it took me until well into my 30's before I was able to appreciate the books), but I recognized the story you were presenting in this video straight away and found it to be a profoundly moving interpretation. Bravo, Geoff, bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You are amazing, I love your videos please keep sharing. I listen to you when I have had a bad day or just need to relax. Thank you and please do keep sharing.
Haha! Your make up was so good on this one that you confused my 16yr old (aspiring bass singer, if his voice will ever settle) son. He was trying to sing along (captioning on) and when the entire group dropped low, he wasn't anticipating it and was like, "Oh! This isn't the usual group he sings with! These are all bass singers!" I had to explain it was all you. lol He was suitably impressed.
I can't stop coming back to this one. This is just smooth as butter. In each vocal range, your tone is so rounded and gorgeous, with just the right amount of spin to your voice, while keeping the vibrato subtle so the blend stays perfect. I keep trying to listen to other bass groups, but I am always left saying, "I want Geoff's voice!" because no one else has such a beautiful tone! You have spoiled me for other bass singers. No one else compares in any of the ranges you use in these productions where you sing multiple parts. While I've always been in awe of your genuine brilliance as an arranger, what continues to surprise me is that each *performance* outdoes the previous - you keep, mind-bendingly, finding ways to improve! I just can't even grok! (And if you get my use of "grok," you're as big a nerd as I am! LOL) Kudos to the whole brilliant team!
All I, as a teeny-weeny bit of the masses, can get out is a blissful sigh. I am deeply touched by the pure BEAUTY of your singing. Your performance is PERFECT. I am completely submerged. I'm just going to ENJOY now and wait until the magic effect has worn off. A grateful THANK YOU to the master of musical-artistic seduction. 😊
I think this is the best out of the three dwarven songs. And the way he lingers on "Kazah-dûm" brings so much emotion although I haven't yet figured out why exactly. Stunning!❤
I am rarely speechless... Amazing, Beautiful, Perfect. It's been a long time since I heard something really beautiful that made me cry while listening.
The first time I heard Clamavi De Profudis sing this song, I fell in love. I've never thought I would find the version I like even more. But this is phenomenal. Instead of a song about a distant, legendary past, this feels more relevant and immediate, with much clearer emotions. While, as always, I'm truly impressed by Geoff's voice and range, and I absolutely love costumes, I think the interpretation of the lyrics and the melody makes it great. It is beautiful, and I know I will be listening to it many times in the future.
Such a wonderful arrangement of this beautiful song! The harmonies are like wrapping yourself in a cozy blanket. Storytelling is once again a 10/10, Geoff!
THESE GUYS ARE SO TALENTED! Gimli is sooooooo handsome 😍 Seriously, though, with a void as deep as the abyss below the Bridge of Khazad-Dûm, these dwarf tunes are right in your wheelhouse, Geoff. But not only because of your deep voice, also because of your supremely incredible ability to take fairly repetitive songs and to breathe new life into them, changing them subtly here and there, taking our ears and brains and hearts on a journey through Middle Earth itself through song. ⛰ ♥
I swear this man's voice is going to be the death of me. HOW, HOW CAN THIS ONE MAN BE SO TALENTED!!!!!!! I am now convinced that these acapella singers are not human, definitely not this guy. This is taking me places I did not know about. Thank you Mr. Castellucci for your voice and your talent, I need more.❤🔥❤
I have loved this song since I first heard it, listening to EVERY SINGLE VERSION I could find, including the recitation from John Ryes Davies himself as Gimli! I kept thinking how much I wanted to hear Geoff do this one, especially after Misty Mountains and I See Fire. There are no words to adequately express how loudly I squealed when I saw this drop! Sir... You are epic! This is epic! And it is now my FAVORITE version of this piece and I will probably play it over and over and over again for the foreseeable future!
I’m not crying. My eyes are just sweating. This is the kind of art that we get when passionate fans truly care about the material. Thank you Geoff for such amazing work with LOTR music I felt like I was truly in middle earth listening to Gimli. Tell the story of Durin Can I suggest it would be amazing to hear the song that Aragon and Legolas sing for the passing of Boromir

I am a Tolkien loving geek girl and I am so glad for the day youtube recommended Geoff’s version of Misty Mountains Cold. When the teaser came out for I See Fire I became a Patron. This song and video are a chef’s kiss addition to the Dwarves saga. The vocals, the arrangement, setting, costuming and overall storytelling are so on point. There are so many amazing little details. Even more I love the honor this gives to both Tolkiens work and the original arrangement by Clamavi De Profundis. The hard work and heart shine through.
The announcement of a cover by Geoff on one of the most beautiful songs from Lord of the Rings is the promise of a beautiful day!Happy listening to everyone! Namarië !
I love the other two Hobbit covers but this is my favourite. The 5 part harmony is sublime. I especially love the beautiful, almost angelic tone near the end when you sing 'Mirrormere'. So atmospheric. A wonderful arrangement. Thank you and your wonderful voice so very much.
Geoff enchanted me again and transported me to a magical location of a bygone era. This journey began in the shadows of the Misty Mountains and continued with the melodies of I See Fire and now I am here in the depths of Moira. Tolkien's tales and poems come to life and become reality, and memories live forever. Five beautiful voices ( Yes, I know it's only one! ) Slowly melt into each other and build a harmony that even the tiniest speck of dust in Khazad-Dûm can shake. The background music is amazing! Starting with the sound of soft drops of water, which nevertheless fall so sharply into the lake of silence of memories and the metallic sounds that evoke the sound of swords daggers bards, the mystical sound of strings and drums...As it all slowly unfolds and melts into one. There is a lot of feeling in this beautifully constructed song and memories... memories of warriors... I'd love to hear more... And the view is really impressive! The background, the lighting, the costumes, the make-up and the great direction deserve special thanks! Now I don't want to list names, but everyone did a fantastic job! Thanks for this masterpiece!
It’s a surprisingly short list. Mostly Geoff and Kathy (his wife), but with Rick Underwood for make-up and ‘beard-wrangling’ and Eli from VoicePlay for lighting, plus Layne and Tony from PattyCake Productions (and VoicePlay). These guys are just Uber-talented! Not just in their voices.
@@hwyla4416 Yes, thank you. I know all this and I have already written on other platforms. They always do their best or even more, and without them such masterpieces would not be possible!
The fellowship is back!!! I absolutely loved the first one and was so stoked to see this pop up in my feed. I don't think I've ever had quite a reaction to a piece of music like I've felt while listening to this. It's so emotional. I'm not even that hardcore of a Tolkein fan, and yet I can feel the raw power in the vocals and the story. I have to listen to this again. And again. And again.
I have often heard judges on AGT, etc., say that a singer made them get "shivers/goosebumps." I don't think I experienced that feeling until listening to this rendition of this song. Kudos and bravo, Geoff. (By the way, I'm almost 72, so I've waited a long time for the goosebumps.)
So relaxing and meditative. My favourite arrangement from Groff to date! So cleverly done, interesting, the costumes, the way the different selves appear to relate with each! I love when Geoff sings high too. His voice is beautiful in all ranges.
I love what you did with this and the way the music and voices flow through the piece! 🥰 I am so appreciative of the amount of effort you put in your videos. What you achieve with a few dedicated helpers is amazing; you would think you had a large crew behind you. Hats off to everyone involved! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I love the red beard on that handsome dwarf Gimli.
"When Durin woke and walked alone... He named the nameless hills and dells..." There's something about this part of the song, this specific bit melodically that I really love. It goes from the really deep voice of (I think) Thorin, to the other Dwarf with a higher voice, it is really really soothing to the ears. The beat also starts here so I believe that's part of it too. I've been a bit obsessed with you recently Mr. Castellucci, you have a magnificent voice, thank God for giving you this natural talent and thank you for practicing so much and gracing our ears with your hard work built upon said talent.

Well Said! ❤
He still hasn't done The Last Goodbye...
@@HamnimationStudios Will he? I so much hope so... ❤️
Goosebumps throughout the entire video. Such an insane vocal range, the bass, the garmony, the details in the presentation, everything is perfect
Thank you, algorythim, for bringing me here today 🙏
This is by far my favorite song you’ve done yet, Geoff. It is absolutely beautiful and flows so perfectly, I can’t help but close my eyes and sway to the music. And just an added note - the harmonies on ‘fishes mail’ make me shiver every time. Masterfully done. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
If my best friend was still with us I would share all of these videos with him. Being a bass himself he would have loved to see them. These help me keep his voice alive in my heart so I thank you.
Im so sorry for your loss❤ He never truly left. He will always be there
❤❤❤❤
As someone with auditory processing issues, I just want to thank you for always having subtitles on your videos!
I've heard other renditions of this song numerous times, but this one moved me to tears. You captured the melancholy perfectly.
Haunting, beautiful, and as always perfectly staged, costumed, and lighted. Just...wow.
The dwarves are back!! The set, the singing!! Everything is just amazing!! Those facial hairs definitely took a lot of works!! And Gimli's nose!! Thank you for taking so much effort to create this one!! ❤❤
Unglaublich. So wunderschön. Geoff übertrifft sich wieder einmal. Da stimmt aber auch alles.Danke, ❤❤❤
I have been listening to this nonstop for the past few days. The vocal range here is insane, and just very chill to listen to. It honestly calms me down when I get stressed.
Me too
HOW DID I END UP HERE?
This is the best cover I've heard with this song. Great job Geoff!☺🤗
I can't tell you how many times I've listened to this song... Geoff, you do something amazing with the songs you touch. And you touch deeply the soul itself. You evoke emotion and add meaning to the melody and words. And you inspire 🙂
Thank you
Absolutely Awesome song, talent, and video. Thank y'all for sharing your beautiful voices. Heavenly, and so very soulful. I'm totally awestruck, Geoff. Peace and love ❤❤❤
Never heard him before but he has a fabulous voice - wonderful timbre.
I have listened to this song at least 50 times since discovering it yesterday. I cannot stop listening to it. It is truly incredible. Superbly done... I bet Tolkien would have loved it.
This song is an emotional safe space for me now. So calming and impressive at the same time! I listen to it every day
That's how I feel about it too ❤
This is story-telling at it's best!
And Bilbo and Frodo's Birthday is tomorrow, so this was the perfect time for a song like this!
As allways. Another masterpiece. For me this cover is the best because i dropped some tears when i heard this "Still the sunken stars apears in dark and windless mirrormere".
Thank You Geoff you made my day better than ever. Respeck from Hungary.
👍👍
This is the most amazing version I’ve heard. Goosebumps!!
HOW DID I END UP HERE? 😉
Well, since I'm here, I might as well say something.
What a remarkable voice. Wow. The first time I hear something from Goeff and I have goosebumps. Incredible voice 👍👍👍👍
You are amazing, I love your videos please keep sharing. I listen to you when I have had a bad day or just need to relax. Thank you and please do keep sharing.
Ich liebe seinen Gesang, solo und mit Voice Play
Thank you!
Wow😍I have goose bumps 😳 these voices get under your skin😍thank you for this wonderful song😍❤️🙏🏼
ABSOLUTELY LOVED YOUR ARRANGEMENT & YOUR VOICE RANGE!!! Excellent background & costumes. Definitely my kind of song!!! Thanks!
This was an astonishing performance in harmonies in a sweet production! Well done, Geoff!
This gets more beautiful every time I hear it.
This voice…so awesome beautiful 🌟 Thank you for sharing your gift. 🙏❤️
I just stumbled upon your videos. Wow!!! You're amazing. Unbelievable voice. I love it. Thank you for blessing us. ❤
When I heard Clamavi De Profundis do this song, I knew I needed a Geoff cover. It's everything I hoped for.
Likewise. They also do awesome renditions of Last Goodbye, When The Hammer Falls and Diggy Diggy Hole. All their dwarf songs are amazing.
Been waiting a few years. Finally!
That was the first we heard, and the best, but now it has been matched! 😃
It took me 4 minutes to realise this is one person. Mind. Blown.
Also, this is extremely beautiful. Listening to it over and over again.
Don't feel bad. Reactors have gone through the entire videos for Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold and I See Fire without figuring it out!
@@Badger77722 Oh, I don't feel bad :D In fact, I am very fond of this deceivement! **playing it for a 20th or sth time today**
THESE GUYS ARE SO TALENTED! Gimli is sooooooo handsome 😍
Seriously, though, with a void as deep as the abyss below the Bridge of Khazad-Dûm, these dwarf tunes are right in your wheelhouse, Geoff. But not only because of your deep voice, also because of your supremely incredible ability to take fairly repetitive songs and to breathe new life into them, changing them subtly here and there, taking our ears and brains and hearts on a journey through Middle Earth itself through song. ⛰ ♥
One guy.
Tell the story of Durin
Can I suggest it would be amazing to hear the song that Aragon and Legolas sing for the passing of Boromir
Yes
This is so beautiful, I had to shed manly tears. And it gets better every time you hear it. True work of art, thank you for this.
That ending was POWERFUL
"Arranged, Produced, Filmed, Performed and Edited by Geoff Castellucci" Unbelievable talent, and it's obvious he puts a ton of work into getting better and better each time he makes one of these videos!
oh my god i just shivered you are amazing Geoff keep up the great work
How beautiful! I found your video at a time when a I truly needed it. Thank you so much.
Namarië !
Wow! Geoff my man you're showing us creativity without limits very clearly. This is amazing.
Just perfection, as per usual. Insanely good work, Geoff!
I first heard Geoff when he sung "I See Fire" and was amazed at his vocal range. This video and his range still amazes me.
A fan of this song and this rendition is *chef kiss*
And absolutely love to see Daryl again 😉😊
Роскошно! Как и ожидалось!
Подозреваю, скоро Geoff сможет озвучивать всех персонажей целого фильма.
Самое интересное ,что все партии поёт один и тот же человек .
Необыкновенно талантливо и красиво.
Now I didn't want to list everyone again, but usually in most posts I mention everyone who contributed to the making of a music video. They are fantastically talented and their work is amazing! They always do their best or even more, and without them such masterpieces would not be possible!
geoff really nailed this song felt the tolkien in his voice
The fellowship is back!!! I absolutely loved the first one and was so stoked to see this pop up in my feed. I don't think I've ever had quite a reaction to a piece of music like I've felt while listening to this. It's so emotional. I'm not even that hardcore of a Tolkein fan, and yet I can feel the raw power in the vocals and the story. I have to listen to this again. And again. And again.
Absolutely insane, so glorious!! The tone of the song just reaches deep into your soul.
Wow! Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Bravo! And thank you for this.
Amazing voice. Just wow.
So relaxing and meditative. My favourite arrangement from Groff to date! So cleverly done, interesting, the costumes, the way the different selves appear to relate with each! I love when Geoff sings high too. His voice is beautiful in all ranges.
I just can’t imagine having such a versatile voice that I could be a chorale all by myself. Such a joy to hear and enjoy, thank you!🙏 ❤
Beautiful song, and amazing voices. Basso profundo - a rare gift.
Oh my god, those deep voices are so beautiful, the ending with the dripping water in the empty hall gave me goosebumps! ⚒🌿
MY VOTE WON ON PATREON!!
Definitely worth subscribing to Geoff Castellucci himself and Voiceplay 👌🔥
we need more Clamavi de profundis votes!
"When Durin woke and walked alone...
He named the nameless hills and dells..."
There's something about this part of the song, this specific bit melodically that I really love.
Geoff's costumes are spot on, and harmonizing is incredible, as always.
I can listen to this man’s voice forever..His voice resonates the whole room when played…So relaxing….Thank You Geoff …What a blessing..
