and if you play on bedrock you can increase spawn rates marginally by building in an ice spike biome (not java)

What do you use to prevent the water from freezing without affecting the creeper spawns with the light?

Even though i only play on java now, i think its really nice of you to even include bedrock because you can struggle a lot of times finding farms that work for bedrock.

Good build! I built it today on my live stream (it's on my channel). Bedrock 1.20 on a 10-man realm. Replaced carpet for buttons and it worked fine. Slow spawn rate, but that's due to Bedrock's spawn mechanics. I made the mistake of switching from the original 11x11 to a 9x9 because it was confusing on what was said. It still works fine with a 9x9. I'll probably change it back, but so far, have had no issues with creepers falling out of the farm.

@@themanofglue620 he responded in a different comment that he misspoke and it's actually 11x11. I built it with 9x9 and it still turned out ok.
BEDROCK PROBLEMS - if your having problems on bedrock try switching to buttons instead of carpets as for some reason they do not prevent spider spawns.

Hey need some help here, my buddy and I are building the first floor and we are coming out with a 12x12 instead of 11x11
This farms has been under construction for so long that I kinda forgot about the original video that I got the design from, but I found it again
numbers are off... If you build the water platform like you did at 01:56, at 02:22 you end up with an 11x11 with 2 diagonal, not 9x9. If it was a 9x9 then at 03:50 you would end up with a 1 block wide gap, not 2

For the play form at 2:17 I don’t know how or why but I’ve re done it 3 times but it’s not 9 by 9 blocks it’s always 12, any ways to help?

This is an amazing build!, but for some reason, not much creepers are spawning. I followed every single thing correctly. I even light up all the land near the ocean in where the creeper farm is located and my sim distance is 4 chunks. Anything i could? ( I'm on bedrock edition)

I Build this farm to it's very good but you did a big mistake the platform is not 9x2x9 it's 11x2x11 and another thing you can only build use the buttons on the outher platform bc I've u use them inside the farm there will be many spiders so inside use carpets instead;)

I have 2 different farms to try to get gunpowder as a byproduct, but it's just not enough
The first one is the generic mobs farms that has been a thing since alpha, and a witch farms

I've done some testing to start trying to help people with their problems seems like using carpets on bedrock don't prevent spider spawns even when used in the same layout. Additionally it can't be built in a river biome. So I recommend trying to switch to buttons and ensuring your not in a river biome.

I tested this in bedrock(without trident killer) and got only 4 stacks of gunpowder. Is that normal? Or is something wrong
It normal bc with the trident killer with looting 3 you get more
Hey. I’m on bedrock and I built the bedrock version and nothing is spawning. I’ve even copied the world and tried to do something in creative to fix it and it’s just not working. Can you explain why?
built it in an ice spike biome, and am seeing far below average results. would I have to lower the ground level surrounding the farm to 63? or would spawn proofing with slabs/buttons work fine?
Hey mate, when you say the bottom platform should be 9x9 on the outsides, building to specs of your build, and watching you build, we place water on 11 blocks, not 9?

@@QixMC also, I've got it set up with a trident killer at the bottom, and I've been afk on hard for like 10 minutes and gained maybe 30 gunpowder? Do you recommend building it in and covering the sides to make it completely dark? (Bedrock) to increase spawns?
@@BrutoGaming94 I doubt that will drastically change the spawn rate as all the blocks are dark enough to spawn from the roof, but may be worth a try as on my test world the farm did have walls and my rates were better than that.

Thanks for the video. I've tried a few different creeper farm builds and this one is the best so far. They walk off the edge pretty much as soon as they spawn. The cat method is the best. I'm now expanding it to include more platforms.

Can you use smooth stone or lodestone type blocks for building for future you miscounted some square and its really hard to see cobblestone.

Hey Qix, playing on bedrock, used the trident killer and built it in an ocean. went afk overnight but only got about 20 stacks. Any suggestions on how to improve rates?
try lighting up any caves, setting chunk distance to 4, and use looting 3.

Yeah, depending on what your sim distance is, you could play around with afk locations to ensure you aren't loading in any terrain. And if you are playing 6-12 render distance, you could add many more layers
If i build this over an ocean monument could that keep stuff from spawning?
@@dragontear97 probably?, theres no reason for you to build it over a monument anyway

Ok so I built this in creative and it worked decent enough for being on bedrock but I built it on my survival realm and it seemed to be working pretty good and then all of the sudden it just stopped spawning except like a creeper very 2-3 minutes( it’s in an ice biome) and I have a trident killer. Any ideas?
prob a few mobs that can spawn somewhere they don't die out side the farm or on some unlit bit

If it's all shifted down, one shouldn't matter too much if you're over an ocean, but if over land may get some spawns on the surface.

Tried on bedrock but nothing spawns, I've tried carpets, buttons, everything, the hight is correct everything is in place but nothing spawns, I've even tried taking out all trapdoors and buttons, and nothing spawns, no zombie no skeleton just nothing, what could be causing this? bro I cant understand when you made layer above water your platform is 2 blocks away from slabs in each side but in my world 2 sides are away 2 blocks from slabs and other 2 are away 3 blocks from slab

I'm on a bedrock realm and no matter what I do, I only seem to get around 100 gunpowder an hour, is this just a general bedrock thing or is there something I can do to fix it? The farm is built over an ocean with 6 layers and buttons, not carpets
bedrock just produces slowly, which is why I recommend trying to get the trident killer with looting 3 sword to increase rates. You can of course build more farms beside it. But overall bedrock just is far slower than java across all mob farms due to spawning mechanics differences

You’re playing bedrock.
Use those directions, and use buttons instead of carpets. It should work then.
How did you make the first layer with the centre peace coz I’ve tried it and it’s really annoying coz it’s not in the middle from where I built up I think it’s from the 2x2 bit but I’m unsure

Yeah, that's an unlucky bug that I think can be fixed by adding a floor, the same as the ceiling below the farm. Just make it unspawnable, or it may affect rates
