It wasn't the middle of nowhere. Right at the end she mentioned the drop off was an approved address for the family. He knew where he was it just wasn't his house. I think there is more to this story and I'd like to hear the bus driver's side.

The defence from the substitute bus driver was that this was the address they had on file for Quincy. @@AprilG SAME, but not like this. it was 9 years ago, that is, when I was 9 y/0, I was left alone in the school 'cause the bus left. They didn't even check on students. It's not completely their fault ik. It happened so when I was searching for my elder sister, as we always go back to home together- But that day IDK why she left alone, and I was searching for her madly. Then I ran to our office room to inform about her, infront of this office is where our School buses used to be parked and to my surprise, my bus left. That terrified moment is unexplainable- I cried my lungs out that some staffs came running towards me and helped me out. They tried to distract and talked to me, made sure I was okay and sat near me. They even gave me biscuits, so that I don't cry lol- It was even harder 'cause I neither knew my parents phone number nor the address, so it was harder for the staffs to contact- I can also understand my parent's situation! After about half an hour my parent's came to School while they were checking for me all around. I still remember that relief faces of my parents. It was quite unbearable to see my mom crying and so I cried. My dad hugged me. The staffs were also happy. They told me and my parents that a kid should always know their necessary information like phone numbers, address and all. From that day onwards, I never forgot my dear or near one's phone numbers!! Can’t agree more with you. I have. 12 year boy, I am lucky that I can afford for my wife to stay home. She drops him off at school and I get him from school in the afternoon. Am glad he was in a good house.
Something similar happened to me when I was a kid. A teacher forced me to get on a bus after school to go home, but I was a walker and tried to tell her that I'm not supposed to get on the bus. I was maybe 8 or 9. Knowing she was wrong, but obedient of adults, I got on the bus and rode it until I was able to get off at the first stop. It felt like forever before it finally stopped. I tried to remember the path the bus took and walked it back until I recognized the area. I made my way home, but 5 minute walk became at least an hour. I never told any adults what happened because I wasn't supposed to question their authority or speak bad about them. Of course, I'm teaching my kids to ask questions and report to me whatever they can.
Me too in kindergarten.. I was walking home from the bus stop when a neighborhood dog was off his leash and wouldn't let me pass by. I was stuck hiding behind the corner of a fence for hours crying my eyes out until a lovely lady driving by noticed and offered me a ride. It was my first year in America didn't know a word of english but knew not to get into strangers car, did anyway cause I was so scared..😭,, I was staying with my aunt & uncle at the time and the next day my aunt walked me over to the dog owners home and explained what had happened and they were very friendly and apologetic.. till this day I am grateful to the stranger and my aunt.
I have had a worse one than him I was in kg 1 bus driver leaves me in the middle of a road far from home I started to panic than some random guy came and asked what happened and luckily just some days ago my dad thought me his phone number so I called him with his phone and I was bought back home
Reading the full story makes you feel even worse. The family used to live in the area but moved and the mother trusted them to make the changes in the system. The poor kid even told the driver he didn't know where he was and the driver told him to get off an walk home. Imagine telling a 7 year to walk into an unknown area and not thinking anything's wrong about that.
My father in law Refused to drive me and my 5 year old the nearly 2 mile each way when she started school and told me she was old enough to walk by herself. He sat there the entire year watching as my child cried once it got cold. Mind you he had no job nowhere else he needed to be, and we offered him gas money, he simply didn't give a damn. I'll never forget that, and this reminds me of and brings the anger back like it was yesterday Edit, I walked her of course and walked to get her everyday. Sorry I didn't make that clear. However it's a hell of a walk for a child that young when simply a full school day wears them out at that age.
This happened to our son when he was in kindergarten. There is nothing more terrifying than your child not coming home. I had to call the school, the bus barn, his teacher, and any number I could think of. I was afraid to leave the house in case someone brought him home, but eventually left to drive around and look for him. Finally, an hour later, I got a phone call from another bus driver. Our son knew to ask another adult for help. **Parents, please make sure you leave your contact information in your child’s backpack so they can call you in emergency situations.
this exact thing happened to my son as well when my son was in kindergarten. I was terrified. It was in New Orleans so it was extra nerve wrecking especially since he was found across the damn river!!
@This is The way I can't even imagine how I would've been in that situation. It was bad enough during the times the school would make mistakes and call me to ask about my son not being there. Hi bluelilly, Actually, it's against the law _not_ to help a child in distress. I got that bit of information from an episode of "20/20" that, I believe, dealt with what to do when a child is lost or separated from their parents. There was a hidden camera showing how adults responded to a "lost" child. I say "lost" because the child wasn't really lost, but pretending to be lost while the cameras were rolling. It was kind of like an episode of "What Would You Do?" Be well, stay safe, and God bless you. "Unpopular the Movie" (Free On RUclips)

@@Music-xp5wg dude it’s a kid wtf do you mean kids have no directions of their home whatsoever if you take the bus and if nobody is there to guide them something can go terribly wrong
As a school bus driver, our rule was in a situation like that, where a child did not want to get off at the stop of record for any reason, we brought the child back to the school to the custody of the teachers or administrators. No child was to be left in a dangerous situation, or one in which either the driver or the child believed to be incorrect.
Didn’t happen for me in the 1st grade the school put me on the wrong bus and the bus driver dropped me off as close to my house as possible which was like 3 blocks away
Perhaps it is time to relax. The kid would be safe anyways. Other people would have helped him. Sometimes we need to let our kids get into uncomfortable situations so they can expand their comfort zone and learn from them instead of safeguarding them. They end up being anxious and with low selfesteem if we constantly get outraged on their behalf everytime something happens. We dont know what the perspective was from the bus driver and this was in no way a dangerous situation. The kid will learn from this and know in the future that he is able to handle a different situation. Thats what creates a solid kid and later a solid adult

Didn’t happen for me in the 1st grade the school put me on the wrong bus and the bus driver dropped me off as close to my house as possible which was like 3 blocks away
i didn't ask btw
And what if the kid is misbehaving ? Should he stay in the bus or should he be kicked out ?
@@gillesgrindel7985 stay on the bus. Kids misbehave. Safety > naughty.
Devastating, we blindly trust these people with our children but never really know who’s dealing with them.
@@nikolesen do you even have children, and do you know about human trafficking and child molesters? This is not the 1950’s. No relaxing. Just keep scrolling because I won’t do this with you at all.
@@boutiquebellus Funny you say that since I am a psychology student myself... From the looks of it this neighbourhood seems like a safe enviroment and not a ghetto. My point is that considering the circumstances this is blown way out of porportions. I dont see the need to highlight it in the media or freak out about it like you and every other person here seems to be doing. I think the child learned a valuable lesson here in how to handle a challenging situation. If we take the approach that the child did well in the situation and everything turned out alright, the child will grow from it. If we take your approach by panicking and being outraged the child will feel it was in a dangerous situation and probably will become more anxious. I am not a fan of the overprotective and outrageious approach here
@@nikolesen but if it was other way around....in a ghetto or some remote area, the child would be in danger .....i think the news should b in spotlight.... To aware such foolish bus drivers.... And they will eventually become highly responsible .
@@abictor3312 yeah but it wasn’t a ghetto so what exactly is your point?
The driver should be charged with child endangerment - why weren't charges filed?
I think because that’s the address that the boy had on record, it says at the end
The driver wasn’t in the wrong. He went by what was given him as the route so he can’t be charged. The address they had on file suggested that was his stop. But he still should’ve listened to the child because he knows his stop.
@@Niecy20111 he shouldn't have listened to the kid, since that would have made him liable, there's a reason there's a registry of addresses for each student. If kids could just ask where they want to be dropped off, then they can use the public bus where they're free to do that.
As a bus driver, reg or sub, it is YOUR responsibility to get the children to their stop. I'm glad it turned out well for the kid.
I mean, it WAS the stop they had on file for the kid, but if kid says its not correct then.... call the school or take him back to the school. Smh
Yea. Kinda sucks but he didn't need to be an ass. Take the kid back to school. He's 7. He hasn't mapped out the town yet. Your basically a momentary care taker when those kids step on your bus. Not just a driver.
To everyone saying take the kid back to the school, often the school is empty by the time elementary routes end. If he truly could not find the stop then the kids should have been taken to the bus barn, or left off at the listed stop. 99% of the time kids lie, hate to say it, but it is true.
@@YZ1N31 that's unfortunate. I was a dumb kid and we moved alot when I was young. I was brought back the school plenty of times. Maybe the bus barn was closer to school so it wasn't a big deal, or had to do 2 routes
Thankfully there was someone willing to help the lil guy.
I would have told him to come inside or told my kids to go outside and play with him while I called his parents and made the kids a snack..I hate seeing kids scared or crying
People might say he’s overreacting, but when you’re 7 years old that is like one of the most scariest things that can happen to you! Yeah. Where I come from, that's illegal as hell, like the divers were legally required to take us to our correct stops, and said bus driver would be fired immediately if anything else had occurred otherwise... I hate when adults treat kids like this. One time I was being repeatedly framed by older girls of hitting some boy, the boy started sobbing to the worker, and he confronted me.
