Whoever drove that bus should have been verifying the kids’ drop off address with those address tags on the kids. It seems like it’s either a case of neglect on job responsibilities or that driver was never told about the address tags.
I had a stupid friend (not a great mother) and I asked her twice does your kid know your home address and phone number. She of course said no. Her kid is 5. I said you need to put a note in her backpack and laminate it if she ever gets lost. Also drill it into her head what your address is. Has she done this? No. Has done nothing. Everyone needs to do things to ensure safety. The teacher who did the address sticker is smart.
This happened to my family at an amusement park. Some kid got lost and couldn’t find his parents. We took him to security and security said themselves that we cared about this kid more than his parents did
That's ashame. If the school and bus drivers wood look past their stubbornness to pay attention to the children for once, we wouldn't be having all of these issues. They need to learn that their jobs aren't to keep school doors open and handle kids for 8 hours a day. It's to also be in charge of their safety
Statistically you'd have to leave your child unattended for 30,000 hours before a predator is likely to kidnap them. But with the internet and news sensationalism now it puts irrational fear in people. Before internet parents let their kids run the neighborhoods all day long without parental supervision and kids were not being kidnapped
The same thing happened to my son. An angel saw him standing at the bus stop over 10 min and asked him if he was waiting for someone and he said no. He had no clue where he was and thank God this honest lady saw him and called the school. I cry every time I think about it. It’s been over 20 years and I’m still thankful. I never had the opportunity to meet the mom and thank her. ♥️ our children are a blessing.
This kinda happen to my youngest little brother when was in kindergarten. Only he got on the wrong bus coming home. We use to have to one school than another to get the bus coming home. My mom was in panic mode when she saw only me and my other brother. My mom immediately called the school to report that her youngest son didn't come home. My school had immediately took action they reported to ever busses and schools. Finally a different school had reported there was a kid they didn't realize. My school immediately called my mom reporting they had found her son. They also told her what had happened. And that a teacher will bring him home. My mom was so grateful for that teacher driving my little brother home. She just couldn't believe this has happen.
The sad thing is in this day and age guys (including me) would be very careful in helping. I’d either call the cops or if I didn’t have a phone, may opt not to do anything. Imagine a guy taking a kid and being seen out of context. Not worth the risk.
It was unfortunate (and a little humorous) your post ended with "asked him if he was waiting for someone and he said no. He ha..."I know there was more to read in your comment, but at first, it seemed you were snickering at the lost child.
That child looks like he is prek those teachers aremsupposed to be putting those kids directly on the right bus. Mistakes like that shouldnt happen and I would pissed. 1. Bc my child would be scared to death. 2. Bc i would be scared to death. 3. Bc I trust you with my child and this shouldnt happen.
I was out in the street walking my dog when a young boy (about 8 years old) was crying. He got off at the wrong stop. He asked me if I could take him home. So the dog, boy, and I drove to his home, and I waited to make sure he got inside. He had just moved and was confused. It breaks your heart when you see how upset and scared they are. I'm so glad that I was there.
The school did get him on the right bus, didn't they ? How can they control where he gets off ? That is where things went wrong. Maybe the family can rehearse the ride to school and back home WITH him until he knows it cold. Can the bus driver remind him when it's time to get off ? A boy of his age is not going to do things perfectly every time.
RIGHT?! One, the driver should have noticed him getting off at the wrong stop and two, when his parents called, they should've been making phone calls and sending people out to look for him as well! Right away! My food order got messed up with Uber eats this am and they took more action than this school!! I can't imagine how scared he must of been😩😩😩 I'm so thankful he's home💙

Shame on the school for trying to steal this ladies credit. She is the one that needs to be commended for reacting promptly to get this baby home. It was transportation fought. Thankfully the teacher put his address on him.
Thank you to his Teacher. Transportation is now alerted to the fact that this young boy will need a little extra supervision until he matures enough to get off at his stop.
@@The9AcesFamily not all schools. Home address is considered private information and is FERPA protected. Our bus drivers for my school district carry a list with student address. I do not work for the same district that this child attends. Thankfully this lady helped out and the child got home safely. All parents should make sure their kids carry a paper with home address/phone numbers in their school bag and pinned to the inside of their clothing for the first few weeks of school. You can also label your child's outside clothing with bus stop information so the driver can see it. I label my students' bus stops with masking tape on their clothing the first 2 weeks of school.
I feel like so many schools do this (lack accountability)... so frustrating... the worst part is knowing it will happen again if they don’t take this seriously.
@@bremCZ each child remains the school’s responsibility until the child reaches their house safely and securely. if the child does not reach their house, or the right house for that matter, that is the fault of the bus driver, who works for the school.
so therefore, it IS the school’s fault. I certainly hope you never have children that have to ride the bus every day. 😳 imagine the bus driver not doing their job that they get paid for, losing your child, and then someone having the audacity to tell you it’s not the schools’ fault. then who is to blame? the child??
Which is funny because when I got into a fight in high school after we got off of the bus, the school said we are their responsibility from when we get off of the bus until we get home. It seems they use different excuses to suit their narrative.
It's good to know there are people in this world that are thoughtful. -The loving family that searched for their kid -The teacher that puts the kid's address on their backpack, in case he got lost -The stranger that recognized the kid was lost and brought him back
The saddest part is that really is no shortage of good people who look out for one another. The messy, hateful, negative stuff just gets all the exposure because fear and controversy are much more marketable, unfortunately.
You are so right. My late mother would always say: there are many more good people than bad people. Bad people make better headlines and sell more newspapers.
Isn't that today's climate? Admit NO guilt. Dont even ACKNOWLEDGE that a mistake was made. Instead, issue a generic, (hopefully) deflective filibuster statement
It’s a school. What do you expect. Students have died because of something schools have cause. If schools refuse to own up to a death I doubt they’ll own up to a temporary misplacement

I guess in big cities it is much different than the small towns I grew up in. Our entire school started and stopped at the same time. So, it was just one bus trip for all the kids. Big cities have so many schools that start at different times so the bus drivers finish one route and go start another. So, they have hundreds of kids to keep track of. I imagine it is easier to lose a kid in that situation.
Thing is, if you're a guy that's likely to be assumed to be creep for existing, and you're the one to find the kid in trouble, what now? That's fun, let me tell ya...
This is easily how kids could disappear something scares them and they run the wrong way into the wrong alley and that's the end of it. This woman could very well save this kid's life I know exaggeration whatsoever!
There was a case in the UK, in the early 1990's the school girlmade some error but eventually caught another bus to get back. Unfortunately, the next bus was driven by a paedophile who locked her in and she was never seen again. It was a regular city bus, could happen to anyone. Also, my neighbour was a bus driver and he left suddenly to go back to Turkey. Afterwards, from the post, we realised he had lost his job and was being sent court summons for exposing himself to kids.
As a first grader I’ve taken the wrong bus to school before. I knew I was at the wrong school, just watching students slowly go to their classes as the crowd got smaller and smaller. There was another student there, an asian girl who was obviously older than me asking if u need help, told her I was at the wrong school, took me to the office. Didn’t know my address, home number but thank god a staff that works at my school was there, she was kind enough to drop me off. Til this day (33 years old) I regret not asking for the girl’s name and not remembering the lady’s name. Something I will never forget and thankful for. Thank you!
The sad thing in todays world is that as a man I found a crying child who couldn't find his mum and I had to ask him to wait there as I went over to my mums house to have here help me so I wouldn't be accused of anything (grown man with a crying child he doesn't know is not a good look). @@smithamy1982 Agreed. This happened to me once when I was shopping. A little girl lost her mom. She was nervously searching around for her and I was the ONLY one who took notice. Once I started asking her questions and got her talking, THEN the other women in the area started to pay attention. One of them found her mom on the other side of the store. After the two were reunited one of the women said to me that we all must have felt the need to do it because we're mothers. The thing is, I am actually not a mother. The truth is that the majority of them did not notice or care about her walking around for a good three or four minutes alone looking very concerned to the point of near tears. The only reason I took so long to help the girl is because I wasn't sure of what the boundaries were in this country (USA) with respect to strangers approaching children who are in need. In the end, I figured uncovering the source of her panic was probably more important than me breaking social taboos. The reality was that I was the first one to approach her and ask her if she was lost, not any of the numerous middle aged women (some of whom were undoubtedly mothers). Whether or not she is a mother, the woman in this video did a great job and I hope that she and the boy's family are able to meet up one day.

@Brayden Dempsey - Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I do agree we need to show appreciation for those who do good. It not only reinforces their behavior, but holds it up as a standard for others to live up to. Good triumphs through an endless line of small steps. Instead it magnifies her importance not only for what she did for this child and his family, but for what her example does for society at large. @Ellie5621 the big thing with your theory there is "if". you have no idea whether that's what happened or not, and given that the family who was actually involved with this is clearly grateful re: how the lady handled the situation, I think a better assumption that can be made is that you're getting mad over literally nothing. calm down, stop upsetting yourself over things you have no way of proving and attempting to villainize a stranger who- by all accounts and given the information available- did a good deed. edit: also like any viability your theory may have had is instantly lost once you realize the kid in question was delivered home immediately; why would your first assumption be that a lost kid, once returned to the home he obviously recognizes, just wander away once he's finally returned to the place he was obviously trying to return to? that makes absolutely no sense lmao, all the lady would have had to do is tell the kid to stay there AT HIS OWN HOME until his parents came home, and even that might be overkill bc there'd be literally no reason for him to "wander off" at that point. kids really aren't as stupid as you seem to think they are lol
@Ellie5621 you're petty AF and just can't admit you sounded stupid as hell. She brought back the kid The kid is alright Everybody is happy with the outcome Stfu.

The only people who ought to be commended in this situation is the teacher for being savvy enough to put his information on his backpack and ensuring he got on the right bus, and then the lady who helped him find his home and made sure he got home safely- that's it. Edit: Someone said the sibling ought to be commended for noticing their little brother was late and automatically contacting mom to figure this out- and they're right.

Amen Yessss!!!! When dropping my kids off in the am .....I used to Pray over all the kids walking.... I wished i could pick them up and drop them all off safely..... I often hoped someone prayed over mine also as they were headed home in the evening.
Why does the school have to pat themselves on the back like that? They didn't ensure the safety of this child. Why can't they just say something like "We are grateful to the woman that helped the child and for his safe return. We will look at our driver policies to try and make sure they are doing all they can to prevent this from happening again."
Yeah, mistakes happen, but that statement is just shooting themselves in the foot with anybody having normal sensibilities. They should scold the bus driver, and fire the PR person!
If they write that, the reaction would be 'Ah, so you didn't do all you can to prevent this from happening previously. May we introduce you to our lawyer?'. An admission of guilt may have severe negative implications for the school. The school personnel have no choice but to react like this, lest they be held responsible for such a disaster and find themselves back in court, too.
@@hardanheavy Well it is one thing to avoid admitting responsibility, but it is another to congratulate yourself for doing a great job when you provably did not.
Bus driver's don't work for the school, they work for the county. So my guess is they are praising themselves for creating the address note for Colton to attach to his shirt. You're right though, it makes them look bad.
I once got on the wrong school bus and to me, it was the scariest thing for me. The driver who was driving it made me get off and she was pretty rude about it. I think i was seven or eight years old and i didn't learn to how to speak up and say that i didn't recognize the neighborhood i was in. So i walked around hoping i'd recognize something to lead me home. Then i started crying and i kept walking around. I didn't know my address at the time, tho to this day i've never forgotten it because of that. So then a couple of these mexican guys saw me and started following me, as if i wasn't scared enough. Finally they caught up to me and they were asking me questions in spanish and my mom hadn't taught me spanish at the time. So then a guy on the bicycle shows up and they tried explaining to him what's going on in broken english. Finally, they called the police to come get me. The reason why they were following me in the first place was because they had never seen me in the neighborhood before. So i got to ride in the backseat of a cop car after they somehow managed to find where i lived. My mom was crying hysterically, she had been looking for me everywhere. She hugged and thanked the cop but i never got to thank those guys for helping me. I never got on the bus since then, but to this day, i wish i knew who those guys were so i could thank them. Update: OMG I've never had a 1,500 likes. Thanks so much!!!!
Missing piece of the story that the article link gives: the woman stayed around until the mother got home from looking for him. So they met her. The video made it seem like they didn't meet her, which gave me questions.
Thank you. I was wondering about that very detail. The reporter almost made it sound like the woman left him there alone. It didn't fit with what we had already seen of her.
The school system sucks if there is ever a fight between students both students get in trouble. Seriously pisses me off even in cases where it’s like 3 v 1 fights if the kid getting ganged up on fights back they may get 1 or 2 less days then the attackers, or in some cases there all expelled. Honestly the school system is literally saying don’t fight someone you’ll get in as much trouble as the people attacking you. Well that is how it is in Tennessee and Louisiana I know for a fact, but I think it’s the same for all states.
Thank the teacher who put his address in his clothes. She's a hero too
Whoever drove that bus should have been verifying the kids’ drop off address with those address tags on the kids. It seems like it’s either a case of neglect on job responsibilities or that driver was never told about the address tags.
Thank the teacher and the lady that took the boy back.
And the sibling that noticed and called mum straight away

A little girl lost her mom. She was nervously searching around for her and I was the ONLY one who took notice.

I do agree we need to show appreciation for those who do good. It not only reinforces their behavior, but holds it up as a standard for others to live up to. Good triumphs through an endless line of small steps.
I find it sad this woman’s actions are deserving of being singled out - which in no way detracts from my appreciation of her. Instead it magnifies her importance not only for what she did for this child and his family, but for what her example does for society at large.
As for Africa, I think you may be oversimplifying AND underestimating scale. We could be doing more, but also important to recognize all that we are already doing. Positive reinforcement of good behavior tends to be more effective than criticism or punishment.

Way back in 1984 I exited work at 11PM and as I arrived on the street I heard crying.
It was a little girl, standing at the top of a concrete walkup at the rear of a nightclub.
As it was a rear door it had locked behind her.

@Ellie5621 lol you know you read it grow up
@Ellie5621 you're petty AF and just can't admit you sounded stupid as hell.
She brought back the kid
The kid is alright
Everybody is happy with the outcome
Stfu.
She was a angel AND IM SURE SHE WAS A LOVING MOM the fact that she cared enough and her soothing voice and her mannerism had to make Colton feel safe THIS IS ALWAYS A FEAR OF MINE! My 5 grandbabies are between 8-6 years old and they are all bus riders I have had several tense conversations with the elementary school & transportation God bless that lady she is an 😇
This shouldn’t be news. This should just be the way people act.
The news is the bus driver's negligence.
@@RollMeOneKenobii you're right Cam.
@@RollMeOneKenobii They mostly hide this and never get on the news.
It insights others to be noble
Was thinking that Mario
So let me get this straight, the school wants praising for taking action after realizing that poor action was taken by letting a child on the wrong stop??? 🖕🖕
It’s a Trumpism!
Yep, that about sums it up. It's unbelievable isn't it? I'd like to say I'm surprised, but I'm not. On a positive note, isn't he just the cutest child you've ever seen? So precious! 😊
@@kenyonbissett3512 Biden was the bus driver. He has dementia
That would be the last day my child would ride the bus.
Exactly ! How about “in the future we will do better” I didn’t read any of that
Kudos to the woman that found the boy and bought him home safely. She's an angel.
finally some good news in 2020
Isn’t that the normal thing to do? I mean she isn’t an angel for that but a human?
@@o0blubblub0o It's amazing how people give some supernatural entity credit and forget that same entity should have prevented it.
Angels are ugly and scary. They also did god´s will like killing hundreds of thousands of people...
@@o0blubblub0o we don’t live in a normal society anymore. Kindness and caring is a trait that is quickly diminishing. People are becoming more judgmental and critical. She was being an angel, because she could have turned her head like obviously so many others did if she picked him up.
Love this. So glad the child is safe and so glad the right person found him in his time of need.
So sweet. This nice woman actually took her time to help. That's a blessing.
Indeed!
@@michellejohnson1298 A nice person for sure, but it's dangerous in today's society to take a strange child anywhere. The best option is to call a neighbor as a witness and keep the child safe as you call the police to take custody and take him home.
@@L1V2P9 Can't you just commend the woman and stop?
The woman is not you obviously. What you consider best may not be best to her.
@@L1V2P9 She walked him home to make sure he arrived safely when he was clearly lost and evidently didn't know his mom's number.
We complain there aren't enough good people, but when someone does something good everyone starts nitpicking
Probably to show not all white people racist
This lady was an angel, protecting a child. This is the exposure media should be covering. So glad Colton is back safe with his family.
But the school district is totally covering their own... well you know.
Thank you god? Thank you kind lady who stopped to help.

This is a safety procedure in ALL schools for kindergarten students!!! Has been for YEARS... TEACHER did her job! The Lady, on the other hand, stepped up and did an AMAZING act kindness, from her heart, to secure the wellbeing of this little boy!!!
@@jenh9361 You'd be surprised how many teachers don't do their jobs. Also my sister's school doesn't have that protocol and she's only 6 and rides the bus alone. So that may not have been protocol, all schools aren't the same. I give credit where credit is due.
You so weird. Everyone that helped should be commended. That fact that you’re negative on such a positive post shows you need mental help weirdo!
All, all should be commended..
you put way too much thought into this
We still have wonderful people in this world
I really like to see mama’s be mama’s to other kids.... Some mama’s can’t help it. We are just everybody’s mama....❤️❤️❤️
Amen Yessss!!!! When dropping my kids off in the am .....I used to Pray over all the kids walking.... I wished i could pick them up and drop them all off safely..... I often hoped someone prayed over mine also as they were headed home in the evening.
Yes!!!! It’s just natural for good moms to look out for everyone else’s kids.
God bless you

My grandmother used to say to us all the time, "a real mother will never mistreat another woman's child, nor will she fail to help a child in need."
"Is she usually here, baby?" Aw... my heart!! FIND THAT WOMAN!!
PLEASE!
Amen!
I'm so confused though. Did she just leave him there alone at the house when no one was home?
@@suzannenorton3807 I think the brother was home, as the parents went out looking for him, it was just a short grab of the footage. Good woman.
That part!
The lady looked after the little man and took him home. Nice to see a story about how we can look after each other not how we can be divided.
Mom's Rock!
Nice divisive finish lol. Maybe turn off the cable opinion idiot box.
Absolutely
Yes Judi!!!!!! Agreed!!!!
Yes.!!
Thanks so much!!!!
thats awesome those were some good guys...glad nothing bad happened
Thats horrible, im glad there are people who help kids, instead of hurt them, we need people like that.
Wow that really warms my heart, good people in all shapes! And unfortunately bad people too. Glad you got home, im a mom
I have a very similar experience to this lol
Well people have to pay to get on the bus, so maybe that's why she kicked you off
Missing piece of the story that the article link gives: the woman stayed around until the mother got home from looking for him. So they met her. The video made it seem like they didn't meet her, which gave me questions.
The media is sensationalist
Thank you. I was wondering about that very detail. The reporter almost made it sound like the woman left him there alone. It didn't fit with what we had already seen of her.
@@MuunTheFIre Is completely right. They make you do that sometimes, they like to embellish to get a good "heart wrenching" story.
I was wondering about that , surely she didnt just leave him there like a parcel haha
@@QuakerLady ... I was thinking the same ...
That's so terrifying! Thank goodness a good lady found him and returned him home safely ♥
Did anyone catch that last part where the school is patting themselves on the back for "ensuring the safety of all students"? How?
yea that stopped me too. Horrible statement on their part.
Lmfao gov dumb
Authorities always pat themselves on the back. Even when they do nothing.
Avoiding lawsuit
The school system sucks if there is ever a fight between students both students get in trouble. Seriously pisses me off even in cases where it’s like 3 v 1 fights if the kid getting ganged up on fights back they may get 1 or 2 less days then the attackers, or in some cases there all expelled. Honestly the school system is literally saying don’t fight someone you’ll get in as much trouble as the people attacking you. Well that is how it is in Tennessee and Louisiana I know for a fact, but I think it’s the same for all states.
