I work with after school students, in a restaurant working their first job, they get so upset when treated poorly by customers. I tell them "unfortunately, it'll happen the rest of your life, no matter what your job is, just how life is". At least they always promise never to treat employees poorly.

There's really nothing new here. I hate to use the term "When I was their age" but I worked three years as a teen working for a small grocery chain. I was constantly verbally abused by the manager, threatened to fire me multiple times, verbally abused by the checkers (Hated their jobs) job shamed by customers, robbed three times, injured several times (Back and hand injuries), put up with customer complaints, alienated by co-workers my age because I didn't defy authority there and didn't do drugs, was called a whimp and a kiss ass. You did what you had to because jobs were very limited back then, If we had recording devices and social media back then, we'd have our own stories.
Well, things have changed as you can see ol man so now we treat retail workers as "humans" now because they aint robots and, as you said, they work thair asses for minimum wage or a little less

One day, my grandfather set me aside and told me that I need to be careful of what I eat or i will become overweight. It didnt click with me because i was so young, but he was giving me a stern life lesson in that moment that ill never forget.
