Fortunately for the world, we've had musicians such as Carlos Santana,Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck,Frank Gambale, and so many others, that love what they do, and won't stop enjoyng playing just because a bunch haters on youtube give their negative opinions.
Not underrated! Among fusion aficionados he is consistently ranked among the five or so top guitarists to ever play the genre. Keep digging; there's a wealth of brilliant Gambale stuff out there!
This is Tom Coster on keys, he cowrote this song as well as played with Santana's band for many years. Tom recorded this exact version on his "From Me To You" album. Although I'm A HUGH FAN of Gambales, many peeps giving props in the wrong direction. Only a couple comments actually acknowledging Tom. Since everyone seems to enjoy this version let's lift Tom up and give credit where credit is due. I do like Gambales solo on the double time at the end. He's using a wah pedal with the pedal in back position to get this tone, like Santana does. Love this!
Nice like the way you let the single note idea breathe at times your playing growing on me we met once at guitar trade m show in ca. I did killer sweep
Thank God for I watched that scale teaching video of this man 2 months ago. I trully become an admirer of a guitarist after may be ten years later since my 20s.
I don’t get why people are whining. This sounds great and covers don’t always have to be exact, he’s making it his own style at the end because he can. He’s Frank Gambale not Carlos obviously 😂. Anyways great song from both.
It cannot be a cover version, because the keyboard player is a composer of this song. His name is Tom Coster. And he's been plaing with Frank way longer than he played with Carlos. Chech out Vital Information band.
One of my pet peeves: a solo is being ripped out (in this case Gambale's following the tempo change) and the idiot producer or editor fades to a load of useless shots because they think we don't want to see a genius at work. Lets look at the bassist's shoulder for a few seconds, or how about we cut to Tom Coster dancing at his keyboard like a dad at a wedding. No thanks. Give me shots of Gambale (in his pre-Uncle Fester lookalike days, when he just looked like a severely butch lesbian) ploughing up the fretboard like a runaway ocean liner crashing head-on into a wooden pier.
honestly, the video shouldn´t matter too much, its music after all. try listening without looking, often makes you more aware of the actual music in the video ;)
this is way too far the best comment the JazzFusion cats community could ever read in the internet era... not gonna lie, together with music the fascinating thing is also the subtle irony, the wit and the aesthetic component that makes us love the genre: you got the point!
OK, this is very interesting, to see/hear--one of the co-writers of this beautiful touching song, along with a master of the electric guitar playing it. The main difference between this version and Carlos' version, is that Carlos' version can send chills up and down your spine before he's even finished playing the first few notes.
Santana is not pretentious in the least; he knows he isn't a virtuoso, and has always been honest about his limitations. His music may bore you, but he is hardly a "hack", and many of his tunes are classics because they are great tunes, and he played his parts well; not having super chops never stopped him from recording great music with great people. Great players like John McLaughlin have a much higher opinion of him than you do. They are right; you're wrong.
propylaen2001 I can't tell you which studio exactly, but it was outside the city. We were staying at hotel Hilton, and I think the hotel was close, if that can help you figuring out!
While I admire technically proficient players I think what a Santana can do with the feel and soul of a song no amount of perfectionists can achieve that
Love your comments especially from mano a mano and Paul Duerinckx....but l think we had to wait for too long for the solo... the intro is way too long and repetitive....but we agree on that Frank is the Midas of guitar....Mr Paul.... you do know the English language!!!as a musician and English teacher l have to admit you left me quite a task..... thanks to you all for being n'sync.... Mariano Vico Guitarist and English teacher from Havana.
lol but frank just open himself right in the end and with a strange approach lol ....so...i just don't know what to say, so the end PS obviously Super thumbs up because at this level i give always my respects,im a musician myself
Merci Alain ❤
Fortunately for the world, we've had musicians such as Carlos Santana,Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck,Frank Gambale, and so many others, that love what they do, and won't stop enjoyng playing just because a bunch haters on youtube give their negative opinions.
I for one love both Santana and Gambale versions of this tune which is some great timeless healing piece of music. Enjoy, folks.
I agree with you, let us stop hating and give our great workers some due.
I simply love Gambale’s tone. And the keyboards are fantastic, too.
Wow. This is Europa taken to another level. Extraordinary.
EIACULAZIONE ............
Actually, the keyboard player on this video is a composer of this song.
Frank and Tom the best 🎵👌
You have music for the masses and you have music for musicians. This most definitely is the latter. Frank is a Beast.
Korg M-series synths - Santana tune - and Frank - a match made in heaven!
i just found out about frank gambale today. seems like a massively underrated player. this stuff is gold!
+warezpl0 Underrated by whom?
Not underrated! Among fusion aficionados he is consistently ranked among the five or so top guitarists to ever play the genre.
Keep digging; there's a wealth of brilliant Gambale stuff out there!
Same here I discovered 2 months ago on a scale teaching video and I said forget the scales whos this man ? :) thank god !
Gambale has been already for many years on the Guitar King throne.
gambale is a living legend
Frank has some great tone going on there....
Brutal interpretación del maestro frank gambale...
Tom Coster un miliardo di grazie per averci donato una canzone come Europa!!!!!
I've been crying throughout the whole video. Soooooooo Beautiful!
Frank Gambale.
The master of the masters.
Amazing the double time feel jam in the end, another Europa, Worlda! Lol
It’s the absolute perfect electric guitar sound
Killing solo of Gambale at the end!
That was incredible!
always a delight to hear frank let rip. drums and bass are great too, keyboards really stole the show though
Merci pour cette belle chanson prenante !

😂
Thats former Santana keyboardist extraordinaire Tom Coster
amazing tone... definitely one of my favorites by Mr. Gambale.
I don’t get why people are whining. This sounds great and covers don’t always have to be exact, he’s making it his own style at the end because he can. He’s Frank Gambale not Carlos obviously 😂. Anyways great song from both.
@Pa Tero The truth.
Blaine Mendez this is not a cover. Europa was written by Tom Coster.
It cannot be a cover version, because the keyboard player is a composer of this song. His name is Tom Coster. And he's been plaing with Frank way longer than he played with Carlos. Chech out Vital Information band.
Europa is written by Tom Coster AND Carlos Santana, so technically it is a cover
Frank kills on this!
Excelent!!!! amazing!!
SUPERRRRRRRRRRRRR
FANTÁSTICO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Iphone watch back THEN. MINDBLOWNWTF!!!1!!
Back when Frank’s tone was the bomb.

this is way too far the best comment the JazzFusion cats community could ever read in the internet era... not gonna lie, together with music the fascinating thing is also the subtle irony, the wit and the aesthetic component that makes us love the genre: you got the point!

thanks for the classic.....personally I like Stochelo Rosenberg's version.....but it is hard to mess this up???!!
original versión de un gusto exquisito

Gambale takes the song home 5:36
Could’ve used a longer intro 🙄
Sarcasm?
4 minutes intro lol
Really🙄
I agree, it was indeed far far too short.
+Alain Rieder: Do you remember which location this was filmed at in Zurich? I guess it was a TV studio, which one exactly?
propylaen2001 I can't tell you which studio exactly, but it was outside the city. We were staying at hotel Hilton, and I think the hotel was close, if that can help you figuring out!
yes yes .........
While I admire technically proficient players I think what a Santana can do with the feel and soul of a song no amount of perfectionists can achieve that
Exactly what is a Santana? Can you better your English a tiny wee bit?
What the hell does this have to do with Santana?!?? Are you saying if ain’t Santana it ain’t worth it!? Loool
So this was the piece that Kenny G and Santana played so much. NOOWW I get it.
Pónganle también Santana, no la hizo solo Tom coster
Sick. I just sold all of my guitar gear on eBay.
Best decision ever, delusion free life.
@@KonicaHexanon haha... that's funny and probably true.
HAHAHA
what can someone say? when words fail music speaks...
Frank Gambale > G3
FRANK BEIRLY BENSON PAT
Let the wanking commence! God how I love it. Allan Holdsworth is next hihi
Is it just me or do Frank and Kazumi Watanabe have similar styles at least back then
Ok, I had 7 years to change my last comment, so, my latest updated assessment: Frank "smokes" Carlos! (some things never change)

Tom Coster reminds me of Papo lucca xD
♥ ♥
Aie !
Они что, Шуфутинского играют ?
Frank's funny. For myself, I can't imagine sticking a bunch of silly Hello Kitty or X-Men stickers or whatever all over my axe. And I suck!
FRANK GAMBALE

lol but frank just open himself right in the end and with a strange approach lol ....so...i just don't know what to say, so the end PS obviously Super thumbs up because at this level i give always my respects,im a musician myself
You couldn’t have done it better Mr. Hannibal
the intro reminds me of xavier renegade angel lol
This is Middle East. The intro at least
