Todd is such an amazing harp player and a good friend. I'm one of his students and have been learning some Terry McMillan songs with him. We both share the same influence of McMillan and have developed a friendship based off of our love of the instrument and our conversations both during and not during lessons. In short, this guy is a class act both on and off stage.
Personally i don't like his version far too "bluesy' for a religious hymn for me, it's like some of those girls who sing the national anthem. they just have to "warble" with some words. i like to hear a song without all the excess "yodeling' Do I play harp , of course I do ., am not a pro but do a good job on Amazing grace.
I am 85 years old and as i said am not a pro, grew up in the early 40s playing straight harp using tongue blocking. i agree with you in a sense that everyone does not have the same taste in music.Have a nice day.
Good performance but it will help other harmonica players if you tell us which Key you are playing on and and whether it is diatonic or chromatic harmonica. Also great players should put more emphasis on the lyric particularly if it is a hymn they are playing for we worship our Lord and all the glory has to go to Him and not to the player. excessive warbling and yodeling do take away the focus for the Lord and unduly puts it on the performer how great he may be.
Well, as for the keys used, they are Db and F# with the 7 draw tuned down a half step (and this is Hohner's upload, not mine, so I had no control over what they did or didn't include). As for the rest of your comment, what you said might make sense if this were a church/worship service, but this was at a harmonica convention where harmonica players are in attendance to hear harmonica instrumentals, not lyrics. Besides that, I'm not a singer, so I can't help ya there. Oh, and God gets the glory in everything I do, my harmonica playing and in my life, including my "excessive warbling and yodeling." :)
Awesome! Good to see Todd getting represented on Hohner's channel. That vibrato really gets me
One of the few players that can use overblow techniques and it sounds amazing. They sound like they’re just another hole. Incredible.

No offense taken, man. I suppose if we all liked the same things, the world would be a pretty boring place. Thanks for checking it out, though!
