Feel so fortunate that Kim has kept the blues alive and Fabulous T birds going. Have seen (and heard) him 4 or 5 times from 1980s to 2000s. Never disappointed. Man is so smooth. Ah, lead singers...love Kim Wilson. Thank you for sharing this gem. Happy New Year 2023
When I Wake Up and and crawl out of bed I got the Blues so that's what I want to hear the Blues. So kick up the Rhythm n Blues and I play it loud with a woman that likes it loud to shake me till I'm out out off control with the lights out. The Blues makes me feel like a child and I'll never grow up because I'm crazy anyway and I'll never get enough.
Kim's a Creative Master throughout but, do check out a few seconds at exactly 15 minutes in .... he gets soooo Flippin' Creative ! He bring's blues harp to a whole other level. Bravo & Major Props Mr. Wilson.
I filled in for Charlie Musselwhite one night, his band made it to town, Mr. Musselwhite didn't, I was sitting at home on a Saturday night wondering what to do, phone rings, an hour later I'm blowing the reeds out of my harmonicas on stage. I played for 50 years, had to quit, bar room smoke is brutal. Kim Wilson was always my inspiration.
Kim is just so ON ...always! No matter the setting, big or small crowd, whenever....wherever. Tone is perfect, and the subtlety, the dynamics, stage presence, the WORKS. AND, he's a cool guy in person ....even with other harp players like myself. Course, I don't ask him stupid questions on how he does things so well. All I do is listen, and sometimes learn.
Just two folks don't get how great this legend is. or maybe they just don't like that it;s the entire blues club set. ? No worries ~ can't win em All. Keep liking this one folks in the know ! And Thanks for subscribing. I'll have more Blues ~Live at the Rhythm Room~ in Phoenix, Arizona soon.
Goleta Slim could be heard in Goleta/Santa Barbara area at a time when George Smith and Charlie Musselwhite were also often playing small venues in the area. Music is still great!
to the four people who clicked thumbs down. lol..sorry but the gravitational pull must be off where youguys are because this KIM..pfft... runs the program. he puts his own twist on it my peps! and his phrasing is heavy and packed tight!
I was surprised he played only chord and warbles and the usual repetitive licks. Was expecting scales and zippy licks but he only played below the 7th hole the majority and no licks or runs in the upper register. Great show but maybe he was holding back
You really think so Uke huh yeah you probably right I dug them a lot of time and a lot of time across this great nation of ours yes ma'am all the way from Rhode Island baby all the way up by Northern California with with Hummel Charlie Harman ray nordics etc. Etc.etc.wow gone!!!
Way to keep your weight down, KIm. Kim is the greatest blues harpist, but give a listen to Allen Wilson (no relation) playing with Son House. He would have loved Kim's playing, but he died in 1970, age 27!
Thanks so much for a glance at this fun Blues Harp Master Video ! This was a surprise appearance ~ It was way cool to see Kim sitting at a table in this Legendary PHX. AZ Blues Club ~ The **Rhythm Room** ~ I loved the The Fabulous Thunderbird's back in the day Soooo badass and tuff enough ! I Also enjoyed catching Mr. Wilson with various backup blues bands member's (Always Top Pro's) in perfect little casino rooms during Atlantic City's boom in the 1990's. GRATEFULLY ~ HARPOJON ~ Do Subscribe for an eclectic mix of Arizona Fun from Basketball half court backwards video's to Border Patrol Rental Cop (staring HarpoJon himself at the Border) ~ Survivor-man isolation tests, Yes indeed hundreds of square miles from the next human being(s) !
