Todd, is my favorite harp player alive today. He reminds me of Terry Mcmillan in that he plays what people like to hear rather than playing to impress other harp players. I learned a lot of licks from Terry when i was first learning to play 16 years ago, but lately i've been trying to learn some of his. This guy is a monster
I'm actually one of his students and this was the song that made me realize that Todd was something special as a harmonica player. Keep in mind I only listened to two songs from him, "I'll Fly Away" from SPAH 2012 and "Amazing Grace" from SPAH 2013, when I decided to take lessons from him. The way he played this song, I could hear a lot of influence from Terry McMillan in his playing and he has told me personally that Terry was his biggest influence. It's just that his style was like a combination of McMillan with the powerful blues licks and Toots Thielemans with the control of the higher end of the harp. What I think is his best performance was a song from that same concert called "Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven". The McMillan influence was shining through in that one, even down to where you can hear him do McMillan's signature growl.
I just wonder how I will buy it, I hope it could be possible to buy it via Internet to France. Todd has a really great feeling, and he's not just a virtuoso. He's one of my favorite harmonica players.
I am sure you are right, Todd has a video on his channel discussing exactly that. I know he is working on releasing his first CD: Songs from the Harp, It should be OUTSTANDING!
I had lessons with him in Kerrville Texas in June 2022. This is killer harpin. He’s on an F harp and still playing in the upper register. He’s got speed on his riffs that mortals lack. I am a pipsqueak on harp compared to this man.

+Ron van Middendorp If you enjoy Gospel harp, you may want to join us on Facebook at the Gospel Harmonica Community. Todd is an active member. I own the Fireball. It responds well to percussive sounds but as a results is not optimal for hand effects while playing the harp. So depends on your style of playing ;-) facebook.com/groups/gospelharmonica/

Wow! Fantastic performance. The upper end notes slung “amazing”. Well done Todd!
This is so good, man I could listen to it all day long!

Best harmonica player after terry McMillan... I love the style so smooth and bluesy.

Incredible! But did he customise his harmonica on the seventh draw hole ? I hear a blue third.
That´s some soulful playing... Anybody identified the mic?
+Ron van Middendorp Ron, that is an Audix Fireball. I do believe at some point in the concert he switched to a stand 58. Not sure why.
Thanks for that information, Keith! Seems I have to check out a website. Cheers :-)
