One of the Sunken Scrolls makes Little Buddy's situation even more sad. As it says the hunger he has, that makes him able to eat so much of the Fuzzy Ooze, comes from him starving himself while lost trying to find his way back to the other salmonids.😢
I forgot about that one. But it is really sad to read
NOOOOOOOO-
@@MicahWWW Exactly
@DatGuywithMemes Very true
I’m imagining a scenario where we do return him back to his salmonoid companions, and unknowingly we splat them as well as his other brothers and sisters in the continuation that of Salmon Run. Now my least favorite gamemode :(
I noticed quite a few of these creepy things. I always found the human dialogue creepy from the rocket. It makes me sad since it was the last few moments of humanity. The bad ending legit had me a bit scared when I lost the boss fight the first time
When I saw the bad ending on RUclips, it took me by surprise by how dark it was
How do I find you everywhere? @yin yang Yt
@@BlackHoleQueen lol
Where exactly is the human dialogue. Im curious and really want to hear it.
@@LunrFox they play randomly in alterna from time to time and you can hear them at any site but it's pretty hard to make out any words in game so id say it's better to listen to them on youtube
Another creepy thing is that in Grizzco in Splatoon 3 you can see a TV on the ceiling and it shows certain spots of Splatsville and if you walk around those areas you can see the cameras and you will know that Mr grizz is watching you
Woah now that's pretty disturbing
Big brother is watching you
0:45 i was in mako mart and I found a can of golden eggs on the shelf could that what they are for to eat?
the spots that have cameras are also spots were little buddy can be found
Honestly this video feels really loose and missing a lot of detail, specially with salmonids, yeah, they are an intelligent species and they have their own society ant rules but they, the same way inklings are, are neutral. (I recommend watching the Rassicas video on Salmon lore) Salmonids aren't afraid of death, and they see it as something that is part of the cycle of life, I mean, one salmonid boss is grilling himself alive just to attack you, they have a ton of pride for their species.
Also it's implied in previous games and in the new mode Big Run that their migrations are really problematic for the inkling society
Sorry for that. I was really under a time crunch to get this done on time and really missed out on things I should have known before hand. A lot of my views regarding the Salmonids were based on what was presented at face value and not what was presented through interviews and the general lore. I'll check out Rassicas video for a more accurate representation. Once again, my apologies.
They're basically fish Saiyans

I love the thumbnail, it looks like if Shiver was a villain
I know Splatoon 4 may be years off, if Shiver WAS the villain, she would have a shark army.
But knowing Shiver, I bet she just put the mask on because… it looks good on her and has a cool gothic pattern on it
The thumbnail art was done by Pufuu and I left a link to the original piece in the description below. It looked so good when I saw it and would work very well in a Splatoween Splatfest event
@@DecadoPrime I love Pufuu, I think his art has so much personality
Since Big Run doesn’t seem to be happening for another month, I wish we had a Splatoween splatfest
Shiver could’ve had a mask which looks like a shark mouth, Frye could have a an eel scarf and Big Man could glow
@@megansutton9699 I'm still disappointed by the lack of a Splatoween Splatfest. It made sense to have one, but I guess they chose to do it in November for cross promoting the new Pokemon games. While I'm happy we're getting one, Splatoween would've been more interesting
@@DecadoPrime Yeah, maybe they could’ve had Deep Cut dressed up as the Pokemon classes (if that’s the right word) they were representing, just to make the vibe feel more Splatoween-y or maybe they could’ve promoted it in a different way rather than a splatfest
@@megansutton9699 Yeah but who knows what the original plans were. Now I'm hoping we get a Frosty Fest since it's been so long
I am pretty sure the devs confirmed that no one is the good or bad guy in salmon run, everyone is just doing their own thing for their own good. Its like how actual real salmon runs work, bears would just go extinct without it
Good to know
0:42 : my favorite part is the truth behind of Salmon run, everyone know Salmon is dangerous to inklings/Octolings and also they don't fear to be dead. But This is show that all of the inklings's life working for Mr grizz is a lied, blinding them to do his bidding, only to be doom by him.
Exactly. That was the idea I was trying to present during that segment
This makes me angry because I’ve been at max rank throughout splatoon 2 and splatoon 3. Seeing the truth behind my favorite gamemode is absolutely appalling. Might as well retire..
@@emithenemmy2554 Woah
Everyone who don't know about it: *(Insert disturbed face here)*
Me who deep dive the lore: I N T E R E S T I N G
Yeah Splatoon can have some deep lore and elements when you really look into each game
I just want to throw my own 2 cents in the salmon run convo.
Some are saying that the Salmonids are dangerous to the inkling and octolings, plus they're going to invade splatsville. However, they're only this aggressive because we're invading their spawning grounds. We invaded their turf first so of course they'll push back. Heck, to say they are dangerous to inklings and octolings is false. The Octarians and Salmonids have a trade agreement. They help one another in achieving their goals. And of course let's not forget Little Buddy, they're not aggressive when there is no need to be.
There's also the fact that Salmonids do not fear death. This is true, real life salmon practically kill themselves to get to their spawn grounds, using up all their energy to get there. These Salmonids are the same, but that is because they are fighting to raise their offspring. Salmonids are protective of their golden eggs, not even letting Octarians use them in trade, so while they don't fear death they still have a goal they are fighting to make happen.
I'm not saying Inklings are evil, I think the creator of splatoon said how neither side is evil, just have different desires that conflict one another's. I'm just saying how salmon itself isn't exactly justifiable. We pushed the salmons now they're pushing back.
(That being said I am absolutely still playing salmon run bc its fun asf)
Great explanation
Also in the inkipedla I found this in rush
It is said that in pre-medieval times, before effective defense measures such as long-range ink attacks were available, many cities fell before the rage of the Salmonid rush.
So is mean that before grizzco industries was open, inklings and octolings suffered the attacks of Salmonid in there village near ocean.
@@leochaichana7649 Fascinating stuff
You *aren't* mercilessly killing Salmonids though. Ok, may the inklings are merciless, but you have to remember, the Salmonids are actually going to invade Inkopolis and Splatsville soon. The Inklings are defending themselves just as much. AND the Salmonids do not fear death and are willing to give themselves away in battle.
I wasn't aware of that since I really don't know much about Salmonid lore. But everything you said makes sense
@@DecadoPrime Totally fair, this information is pretty obscure even if you know where to look.
@@sherbertshortkake6649 Yeah that's how it is
finally someboday said it
@@Lavamario1 yep
I think that salmon run is much darker than what’s described in the video honestly. In cannon inklings and salmonids frequently eat eachother. Salmonids come up on land to spawn and in big runs they come up in mass to the mainland and invade cities. In the past before inklings had the tech they have now the population would be massacred and devoured. Inklings in turn invade salmonid territory and kill as many as they can and steal their eggs. It’s not portrayed in game because the gameplay itself needs to be age appropriate, but if big runs were more realistic to the official lore then there would be a lot of horrific stuff going on. What’s creepy about salmonids is that they think that being eaten is an honorable death, and one that you should strive for. That’s why salmon run maps have all the fork and knife imagery, why they use cooking utensils as armor and weapons. The grillers are weaponized machines that cook their pilots alive.
When you put it like that it is truly way darker
The entire splatoon franchise is interesting, since at first it looks like a lighthearted game about sea creature people, but it's MUCH deeper than that
Yep that's one of the reasons I love this series. So much fascinating lore
I'm pretty sure that Salmonids aren't endangered. Far from it, actually. We see how many eggs one salmon gives out, so the birthrate must be VERY high. And seeing how salmonoids can eat the fuzzy ooze, I imagine that Grizz didn't only get the golden eggs to power the space-ship, but also to lower the salmon-birth rate and the amount of salmonoids as a whole since they're a big menace in general and especially to Grizz and his ooze.
Excellent point
The Bad Ending seriously caught me off guard when I got it. I was expecting the usual Pop! and then you're back in the fight but instead I got to see the horrific consequences of my failure... It was unexpected, intense, and kinda distressing. I love it but also wtf Nintendo
It was so surprising seeing it for the first time. Witnessing what would happen if we failed was tragic and intense
This also happens in the dlc for splatoon two but I won't spoil 😉
1:16 What's interesting is that salmon run is illegal already, contact with the salmonids outside of official meetings is considered a crime, Plus the grizzco weapons are illegally modified.
Wow Mr. Grizz is way shadier than I thought. Thank you for these facts because I wasn't aware of them
Way to go Mr Grizz you made us villains
Yeah considering how we were the reason he was able to keep making the fuzzy ooze and go to space
For the bit about Salmon Run, I don’t think either side is really the villain. The Salmonoids have taken over areas of splatsville, while inklings drive them back through battle
Fair point
Some months later: *HORRORBOROS HAS SPAWNED*
i am not crying over a walking piece of salmon

Honestly when I first played Splatoon 2 I thought Grizz was so obsessed with the eggs because he wanted to eat them💀
I wouldn't be surprised if he did while planning out his revenge
Lol
@@DecadoPrime I never expected him to be the villan at least it's not Octavio anymore
@@PurpleWisteria-kg9yd I'm glad Octavio wasn't the villain since it would've been way too repetitive
@@DecadoPrime yeah
Wrong. Salmonids are known for invading and even destroying cities every time there's a migration every hundred years or so. Glowflies make them even more deadly and it's said that a big group of Salmonids under the influence of glowflies can decimate an entire city in one night. They don't fear death, and see honorable to die and/or be eaten by their enemies so that's why they like to look "tasty" in the battlefield, even to the point of sacrificing themselves to form Griller units, the most powerful Salmonid war vehicle (just below the Mothership)
Oops my mistake. I wasn't aware of the salmonid lore when making that segment, rather just basing it off of the initial impression the Salmon Run mode and Grizz Co as a whole gave off. Sorry for that
Every 70 years to be exact iirc.
@@sherbertshortkake6649 Good to know
Which is truth
I’m going to be honest my dude. This video doesn’t scratch the surface and you’ve gotten a lot of stuff wrong (like to quote the creator and director of all 3 Splatoon games: “nobody is evil, they’re all just doing their own thing” for example)
but reading the comments I don’t need to tell you that-we Splatoon fans are super protective and slightly annoying about our beloved lore) but I’ll be damned if this isn’t my favorite video on RUclips due to its humor factor. Good job, genuinely.
Hehe glad you enjoyed it. I do apologize for the inconsistencies as I was basing a lot of it on surface level info and should've done more research. But I do agree Splatoon fans are passionate for lore and I appreciate that
1:08 Yeah I kept thinking about that. Because, little buddy doesn't know what we're doing to the home of the salmonids, it's kinda sad really
Poor lil buddy
Very sad
1:16 I heard that salmonids see gettin killed/eaten in a hord(salmon run) as a honorable way to die
You are correct. My apologies for the mistake during that segment. I'm not familiar with Salmonid lore
actually salmonids and inklings have had a rivalry for an extremely long time, as in the salmonids would stampede inkling land to get to their spawning grounds. They always clashed and grizzco was just taking advantage of that
Makes sense. Thanks for pointing that out since I'm not super aware of Salmonid lore as others are

So true.
"The truth behind salmon run" is not entirely true. Inklings and salmonids just have their own cultures and society and neither of them are the villains.
Famitsu interview (translated by rassicas):
Inoue: So The Salmonid and Octarians have a treaty, and they trade with each other.
Amano: But they don't have a trade treaty with the Inklings. That's why Inklings arm themselves to steal eggs from the Salmonids.
--- So maybe Inklings are the bad guys?
Amano: They're not the bad guys. Inklings just have their own way of life.
Nogami: Maybe the Salmonids are targeting the Inklings.
Amano: The state of affairs is unstable, so we don't know what's going to happen.
Apologies for the error. I didn't keep up with the interviews and was unaware of this one. Thank you for notifying me about it
