@sharky_xanderrrr I'm fine with the 3rd person view we have. For VR related mechanics, I'd like to see it be used for idol group live concert performances. That way it can feel like we are really there.

@@jeffcapri313 Thank you for the kind words. I like the idea of a Splatoon VR game as it can give us a one of a kind experience we've never had. But there are some many factors to consider that it feels the safest and more reasonable direction the developers will go in is the standard 3rd person formula their used too. Still I'd be happy if we got some VR elements in an updated camera mode or live concert experience

@@Luxius_8 Oof that is a possibility. That's one if the reasons I prefer them having stick control options for camera movement. Although VR dualies would be cool

@DecadoPrime in vr, you control the camera with your head. Just turning the camera with sticks would be even worse for your head. When I hear Splatoon VR, I think of every other VR games where you look with your head and aim with motion controls, basicaly simulating real life in the game.

@Luxius_8 That would hurt my head. I've tried VR games before and they do tend to cause motion sickness due to the rapid movement. Plus they seem bad for the eyes and you would need room to ensure nothing in the area gets damaged. I personally would want the Splatoon developers to give us a VR live concert experience instead.

@Puropino Callie is one of my favorite idols so if she were to return I'd be fine with it. Deep Cut definitely should've gotten their own story campaign considering Off the Hook got two in the form of DLC while Squid Sisters were heavily involved with each story campaign

@everynameiwantistaken I remember that announcement from the direct as well. This may explain why so many things from Splatoon 1 and 2 were brought back as a way to end this era before starting a new one. But yeah the bias for Squid Sisters and Off the Hook is pretty apparent

@ChristochatBTW I'll try my best. While I do like your perspective, I personally am not a fan of him returning due to how it's made him a bit of a joke character. The first game really went and established how much of a threat he was. But by the time you see him in Splatoon 3, he's just feels like a villain of the week that you can easily defeat with no challenge at all. I would've preferred if Octavio mentored the new agent 3 and we got a new perspective on his views throughout the series rather than just rehashing the exact boss fight and motives over and over again.

I agree. It feels like the story suffers from too many characters sometimes. Like it's okay if some of them sit out when they're not needed if that's to the benefit of the story. Unfortunately in Splatoon 3 it seems like Off the Hook and the Squid Sisters overshadow everyone else, which I don't have a problem with either group, but there are so many other interesting stories in Splatoon to tell.

it reminds me of what Off the Hook were in 2017 where all we had were dev interviews and speculations (although marina and pearl did have lore in the sunken scrolls) marina even before octo expansion really did interest me because an octoling just existing outside of the hero mode had really interesting implications and plenty of room to think for yourself. i didnt really have the level of interest for deep cut, a lot of their lore is communicated through dev interviews or promotional material. a common argument i see is that skippable news hurt their character, and i personally dont think thats very true, 90% of players mashed the dialogue in 1&2 anyway, i know i did, but the characters just had more time in the actual game to show off their things that made them unique.

i think basing the entire gameplay loop in the single player off of a blend of 2 and octo expansion just wasnt a good move. i get they were doing what worked because people enjoyed octo expansions gameplay but in my opinion it raises more questions because of that choice! why were the alterna test chambers built? for what reason? why were they seemingly designed for inkfish? is O.R.C.A just meant to give exposition to you in the logs? the rocket phase is a very clear example of this. i dont think side order is nearly as poorly executed as this, it provides a real explanation for sanitization and mem cakes, although it does rely a bit on the player having played octo expansion.

@deliriousmasher I agree with all the points you brought up. Stories feeling rushed appears to be a common thing in this series and I hope it stops. I'd like a properly fleshed out story that has time to cover everything the developers want to showcase.

Honestly I'm definitely expecting them to do that and I agree with you on them playing it safe. It worked with Splatoon 3 so I wouldn't be surprised if they did it again for marketing

@@saintlugia True. It hasn't gotten to the point of it being unbearable. I like some of the nostalgic elements they brought back, but I'm hoping we get more original concepts for future games

Admittedly the nostalgia pandering is really bad in Return of the Mammalians, but there are other reused elements that I'm fine with. I'm really hoping Splatoon 4 is fully original as Splatoon 3 is clearly trying to wrap up this era through all of its representation for its predecessors

I understand Splatoon 3 was trying to wrap up this decade long era before potentially starting a new one by reintroducing past things new players may not have experienced back then while still appealing to longtime fans. But as you mentioned, it felt rushed and almost forced at times. Some things like continuing Octo Expansion's story through Side Order or bring back revamped versions of Splatoon 1 specials I'm fine with. But bringing back the Octarians as enemies once again for story mode or avoiding Agent 4's inclusion really sour it.

Honestly Bluefin is ruined too. Them making the side of the walls uninkable and making the hall an annoying block jump make the map nearly unplayable, especially in rain and clams. Flounder and Museum are the two that were mostly unscathed, though they're still significantly worse than their original splat 1 counterpart. To continue your point, most of the splatoon 2 maps were literally just copy pasted into 3 with no changes. They were definitely playing favorites here, yet still did a poor job.

But I feel like it's gotten to a point where the game heavily relies on nostalgia and undermines the new stuff it introduced like Deep Cut.

That however means the popular teams spends more time in the lobby than actually playing. This isn't an issue for all players, especially ones who are eager to winning the splatfest, but it is an issue for players who don't have all day and just want to grind to ruler.

YES, that and since most of the player base is Japanese, they have the most influence over Splatfest than other regions. Like how in shiver vs Frye vs big man, even though I could've sworn there were a lot of people on team Frye, there ended up being only a fraction of the vote since shiver is the most popular in Japan. It could've looked much different if it were region locked

@theberrycake For sure. While I was on Team Shiver, I did encounter tons of Team Frye players, way more than Big Man. I guess bc the developers wanted to keep the game region lock free, that's why they went that route. But honestly it just created more issues in the long run

@jrenderos4 Wow so many of the ideas you mentioned is what I've wanted for ages. Having new idol outfits/costumes, Splatfest themed decorations and a general incentive on getting items/rewards with a community goal is so much better than what we have at the moment. One additional change I'd like to see is more photo options

@@DecadoPrime more photo options are always good, especially since its really weird that some options are locked out without amiibo use.

@jrenderos4 Yeah it's bizarre how they handled it. Regardless, more items being distributed like Tableturf booster packs would be nice.
