I think one thing you missed with the sanitized is sanitized ink. From what I remember it's Tartar's concoction of "the perfect lifeform" and his test being to find the perfect lifeform. So from what I understand, the turquoise goo is made from the skilled octos who passed the tests and is being used to sanitize the ones who have failed.
The blender is what he uses to create that ink, too. The test subjects are meant to collect pieces for their own death trap. If they succeed, they get blended up into the goo we now know as Sanitized Ink. If they fail, that same ink is used to essentially turn them into mindless zombies.
The screams and noises after a boss battle is actually coming from the deep sea metro, the bells and loud thuds are the train, and the screams are the octlings being blended or exploding/ getting killed after failing a mission. The reason why every battle you can hear the noises is because there were over 10,008 test subjects. We all know at the end of Octo expansion, your about to get blended, but not everybody gets saved by agent 3 (obviously).
The fact that the sanitizing ooze is a blend of Octoling corpses, including potentially their friends and family 😭 What makes it sadder is that since Tartar is defeated, if we are to believe he was destroyed, there’s a chance that all the sanitized Octolings would also die unless there was a device that kept controlling them after the fact. I’m not sure what would happen to partially sanitized Octolings like DedF1sh, but I could theorize that they may have dissociative issues in their mental state, kinda dead inside (no pun intended). This manipulation to the blender scene reminds me of human sacrifices (although they were typically done to appease the group’s god(s) or entities)
I have a feeling that the sanitized octarians might come back in a future DLC, this time looking more hideous and malformed as they would have slowly mutated overtime without maintenance from Tartar. Relating to this, I also have a headcanon that the primordial ooze Tartar created out of the 10,000+ subjects is actually sentient, consisting of all the lost souls that tried to reach the promised land after completing their tests, only to have met with a terrible fate. Maybe the ooze might serve as the main antagonist of this future DLC, as we might play as Agent 8 once again, being accompanied by Pearl and Marina in their journey.

You can hear them faintly, but when reversed they say, "happy new year! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10!" Tartar may have used this as a countdown of some sort.
When the telephone builds the blender in Octo Expansion, it starts to make noises. But if you play it backwards, you can hear the Happy New Year countdown. TarTar must’ve recorded it when humans were still alive.

The Sanitized Octarians are not only brainwashed so thoroughly that they have no sense of self, but they're straight up *_undead,_* since Marina states that she can't get a vital reading on any of them. Not only that, but it's implied that they're *_immortal._* 2. The ink bomb strapped onto Agent 8’s Ink tank has a surprisingly dark secret of its own. The Equipper devices that give you your weapons throughout the Expansion don't mess with your inkpack. The ink tank is provided by the Kamabo Corporation and any extra details about it other than the fact that it's used to record data are confidential to the facility; *_meaning that you are not informed of the bomb's existence until it's too late._* 3. Supposedly, those that failed to collect the four Thangs remain in the subway system, memories of their past forever wiped. That's more saddening territory, admittedly, but still a little horrifying. Meanwhile, those that did manage to collect them after being forcefully put through what basically accounts to cold-blooded torture? The same thing that nearly happened to Agent 8 and Captain Cuttlefish - they were all crushed, blended, mixed and ground up, conscious and alive into a gruesome genetic sludge in an attempt to create a new sort of primordial soup made up of the most tenacious, intelligent specimens on the planet, *_and it's implied they were all made immortal after the blending process._* That distinct green "ink" you run afoul of throughout the campaign that just seems kind of off in its coloration? *_That's not ink. That stuff used to be living creatures. It's all that's left of every test subject before you. YOU'VE BEEN GETTING COVERED IN A STEW OF LIQUEFIED CORPSES FOR THE ENTIRE EXPANSION!_* 4. And that's not all - some very disturbing concept art from the Octo Expansion artbook indicates that the NILS Statue is more than meets the eye. Apparently, the "statue" is implied to actually be an absolutely enormous, heavily mutated Sanitized Octarian and what you see outside is merely a shell... And of course, Splatoon 3 adds in more elements of horror into the franchise, but I'm sure you already know.

Splatoon 3’s bad ending is also a creepy thing in splatoon. I know this video is from 2021. But the bad ending is achievable by failing the final boss against SPOILER WARNING mr grizz. You see the buildings covered in fuzzy ooze and the inklings and octolings turning into fuzzballs. You can even hear their death sounds being repeated. Then u zoom out looking at earth while its getting covered in fuzzy ooze,while you hear a disturbing and creepy laugh.
Are we ignoring that sakaguchi didnt even know about the screams. Either the game’s haunted or some employee is messing with us. I prefer the employee like shoutout to u that’s hilarious.

Finally, you’re able to see through some of the darkness. But a moment later you’ll hear the same screams coming from all directions. You decide to make a puddle of ink and hide in it. But after the screams are gone, more puddles of ink appear on the ground. You think it’s safe but then you hear footsteps and hide again. And a deformed octostomp starts roaming the hallways, some lights also flicker on. From there you have to navigate through the hallways and try to escape. After escaping you don’t realize it at first, but then notice you forgot your weapon. But it wasn’t safe to go back and get it, so you decide to keep moving *End of Chapter 1*

my theory is that we had to find blender pieces because 10007 octolings got blended alive to make sanitized octolings but after last one blender exploded and we had to find rest of parts. they look diffrent because they are made from other octolings and arent just orginal controled octolings. because depesa (i forgot name) metro is underground thaths why we could hear in splatoon one screams. because were we fight its underground but depesa metro is even deeper but not deep enough to not hear what is happening. the screams were mixed with train noises because its metro
