I've actually been writing a story with a similar concept. A human basically gets isekaied into the future when the events of Splatoon 1 takes place. He was turned into and inkling and it's up to him and his new allies to find the machine that changed his fate forever.

After Samus betrayed the GF in the events of Metroid Fusion, former GF soldiers whom left because of the Federation's crimes were inspired to create a new military to take out the Galactic Federation. If you are a Halo fan, that's right, in this universe, Samus is the one who inspired the creation of the UNSC. After a year of growing, the UNSC was ready, and waged war on the Galactic Federation. And after a few years, they won, the Galactic Federation was no more, and the UNSC took over. And their stories are basically the same as in the Halo series. Centuries have passed, the year is 2559 and 2 Spartans are sent back to Earth due to one reason, something Humanity missed when they evacuated. It turns out, there was a Halo Ring orbiting outside the solar system. And they were tasked to find an area on Old Earth to build a communication satellite so the base sent to research the ring will have instant communication with the UNSC. And after arriving, they find the Earth inhabited by the evolved Sea Life. After exchanging information with each other, the main government of humanity on New Earth, the UNI, agreed to let this new sea life to be the dominant species on Old Earth, and with help, the sea life agreed to be allies of the UNSC, and humanity.
I was thinking about how pikmin could relate to splatoon’s timeline (and stuff and also why pikmin are humanoid shaped to begin with) that’s pretty interesting. Listening to this, it makes me think to a Splatoon OC I made and kept thinking on how to make her work. Her story is that this OC is a human scientist that was put into cryosleep alongside a team of other scientists she is a member of. Her cryopod opens in the time period of Splat 1, but she is the only one who wakes up. All the other scientists did not make it and have passed. Despite all this, she is keeping positive, seeing that she can pass on her knowledge of the past. The only problem is a communication issue. I made an Inkling OC as well, who meets the human scientist and they help each other. While the story this video story is so different from my version of a story, it makes me happy on the thoughts of what would happen if humans were to return to the earth in the Splatoon timeline. Thank you.

Depends on what kind of human survives. If the human/humans were closer to Octolings, it wouldn't be long before they would cause trouble for the cephalopods of Earth. If they were closer to Inklings, they would probably die or get along.
It’s kinda interesting to see how bad the humans in the splatoon universe actually were. They had like 5 world wars and seeing those actions after Squacto found them was expected from them.
I just find the last war silly until at the end Humans can't really die to ink unless they drown in it, but they might have produced gas masks. They also could have made quite a large amount of ballistic weapons for humans, and they might've made war vehicles, unfortunately though they might not have the technology to have respawns fro humans. When squakto warned sea life, they could make a counter to a lot of those, but my money would've been on humans. But I might choose nuclear Armageddon for the ending as both sides unleash the nukes.

I only say this because humanity is orders of magnitude more complex than any of the species in the splatoon games (except grizz and the judds as they are real species that actually exist contemporary to us). Maybe in an alternate ending. Squanto is able to stop all of the war by helping the general realize that this was all the reason humans almost went extinct in the first place. And that squids almost suffered the same fate. And maybe stop the war alltogether and once again uniting all races like he did with salmon squid and octos. After all what’s the point in all the bloodshed anyways?
Ok, but octolings/inklings can respawn, some of the other races in splatoon are immune to water, and there would be more than just rocket fuel in the bunkers

That ending caught me by surprise and was rather funny but as much as I like it, there’s a flaw to that theory: in the Pikmin games, some of the treasures are Nintendo products. That would imply that, in the Pikmin canon, all other Nintendo games are just that: games. That would include the Splatoon games. And even if there were Splatoon-based treasures, they would most likely also be Nintendo merch.
But my story was different: the earth we're actually in it's was the big brother earth of the younger brother earth which it the only earth with no nuclear war and after the people in heard the news about the humanity were destroyed in the big bro earth that causing all fall in shocked and painfull until a long years later after the event, the scientists who's stalking the big earth was so shocked for what they're seen, humanity have been sacrifice after the nuclear war and accidentally raised a new generation, the Generation of Splatoon, the peoples in the Splatoon said that they're still stalking at their planet on their home to this day without any appearance of them until Splatoon 4 (which it Project Splatoon 3).
So Squacto learned about almost all of human history and how we have been fighting for land and random stuff the entirety of humanity and didn't expect a giant group of humans to start a war like the Humans started this war within like 2 weeks of getting out like that's sad.

I agree But also I felt like the war in the story could've a little more realistic, like I dunno maybe.... Mankind makes bullet weapons again, as well as war vehicles, masks to resist ink, better strategies, and a little bit of bombing cities. That ending caught me by surprise and was rather funny but as much as I like it, there’s a flaw to that theory: in the Pikmin games, some of the treasures are Nintendo products. That would imply that, in the Pikmin canon, all other Nintendo games are just that: games. That would include the Splatoon games. And even if there were Splatoon-based treasures, they would most likely also be Nintendo merch.
a wii u was depicted in a fossil in a splatoon 1 sunken scroll, and there are nintendo consoles in some of the octo expansion levels as well

But also I felt like the war in the story could've a little more realistic, like I dunno maybe.... Mankind makes bullet weapons again, as well as war vehicles, masks to resist ink, better strategies, and a little bit of bombing cities.
Also one nuke destroying everything is a little much, especially for one that's probably a random one.

- the pikmin evolution can't be due to the liquids crystals because they have nothing in common with humans and the crystals were full of Human's thoughs and it was why inklings had human form
Sure, they have respawns, but in the end, nothing can really stop a nuke from destroying literally anything.
