There were a few game changing moments for me. One was understanding that meditation is not about controlling the mind but rather not being controlled by the mind. This built that observational quality that allowed me to stop identifying with the thoughts & emotions. Secondly was understanding the dualistic / subject object relationship the mind perpetuates between itself and the rest of existence. After that is seen through then all of existence just becomes a play of forms. Lastly, understanding that trauma is the source of what drives a lot of what we do, especially dysfunctional and/or negative thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
Hyper-emotional thinking absolutely can be a real mental obstacle for anyone struggling with psychological issues. The approach advocated here is more or less the Zazen method: "observe your thoughts , but do not cling to them". This of course leads to a mindset which encourages clarity and insight (and ultimately, better healing). Anyhow, great video, keep up the good work!
Calming an anxious mind, can be challenging. Developing new cognitive pathways, through newly found self-awareness and refining/reforming old cognitive pathways can be beneficial, especially when implementing the right tools or best tools available at the time. Really enjoyed/enjoying your presentation. Lots of mental food to chew on. Thank you.
As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. It’s human nature. There’s no way around it. We are the summation of our thoughts. This is why we have to bring them under control.
Wouldn’t it be interesting if good, true, uplifting thoughts came from good spirits above and evil, false, depressing thoughts came from evil spirits below? Consider the possibility that we are in a spiritual war and that it may be wise to pray to God, read from the Bible and learn how to do spiritual warfare. Best wishes to all.
No the problem is that intrusive thoughts are due to undeveloped parts of the brain. I just cured my 35 year intense OCD with lions mane mushrooms. The people suffering or not doing anything wrong, they just need more neural growth factors. I hate the way OCD has been treated, it puts all the blame on the individual. It's basically a birth defect.
Lmfao, We even observe the fact we observe, wouldn't that be by your logic proof that technically we don't even exist because anything we can observe isn't us? But I agree with the basic message of not taking thoughts too seriously.
Girl... Please start with meditation... Get in control of your thoughts and you will see your feelings follow each thought. In my opinion, Then and only then you can put in gratitude into your heart and use that foundation. It's truly choice. As Einstein said simplify everything down into it simplest parts but go no further. Not sure you made it so simple.

You’re definitely better off if you can abandon thoughts altogether. The mind that you’re describing is the ego. A very untrustworthy guide, the blind leading the gullible.
Trust the Bible for guidance and your thoughts get established. You bring them into conformity with His will for your life. The unsaved, unregenerant mind is truly a wild horse this video might help.

Without the understanding of the spiritual world and confessing that there is good and evil you will never be able to even help yourself let alone anyon e else and any advice you give will be perverse and destructive

Isn't like saying; you don't know how to drive because you don't know how the engine works?
I would say it's more like you don't know how to drive WELL because you don't know how the engine works.

I should have paid more attention to my psychology professor. Are you describing cognitive dissonance?

No thanks too many ancestors killed over that book, you don't need it to have a relationship with christ or the divine anyway
