Kaleo is a pure talent, they're so underrated. "Save Yourself", "Way Down We Go", "Break My Baby", "Hey Gringo", "All the Pretty Girls", "Backbone", "No Good" etc and they have videos filmed in beautiful places: in a volcano, in an ice cave, near an erupting volcano, on an ice floe, on top of a rock. And yes, their music is very bluesy.
Literally any song
You forgot broken bones
Hay Gringo is soooo coool
into my mothers arms is also amazing
broken bones is also a rlly good song
Love KALEO, you've probably heard their hit "Way Down We Go", but I gotta say, love jamming to No Good in my car
Same, great song to jam
My go to is their live performance of Break My Baby 👌
Check bang bang live
Omg same here. That song is epicly good in the car and during summer.
Finally this band is getting the attention they deserve...well played Beth
Viking soul.
The guy has an amazing voice. A gift from God!
This is probably the best band in the world.
And Nothing but Thieves
@@dzosefdzik meaning?
@@Nifilheimur its a band
Kaleo are truly talented and kind of like a hidden gem for many. They deserve way more attention!
Please do a reaction to Paolo Nutini, he's definitely worth listening to as well. And he's half scottish 😉
Saw them yesterday in Frankfurt. Hands down best vocalist I've ever seen in concert. Not even close, he left everything he had on that stage. They only did No Good for an encore, but everyone understood there was nothing else to give. You have to watch a performance of that.
God, more people should react to Kaleo. All their songs, ALL OF THEM, are amazing! Thanks for this Beth!
Hi ! Their cover of "Bang Bang" live on siriusxm, is probably his best vocal performance. And if you would like to see more of this band, all their live performances (on their channel) contain great Icelandic landscape, Skinny in front of a volcanic eruption is amazing
JJ’s power really shows in that song, it’s so amazing how he nails it perfectly in every live version you find on youtube
Kaleo is an awesome band, so different to the rest, but they need more attention; they are fantastic, how not love them?
Extremely underrated band. Jökull Júlíusson voice is just next level, there are not even a handful of people with this amazing and powerful kind of voice.
Once side I wish they could get more attention cause they truly deserve it and on the other hand I don’t want them to become mainstream and maybe they lose their way of music.
Need more Kaleo reactions, this dude is unreal and has so many good live performances. I saw them live this summer at a small venue in Lowell, MA and they blew me away
Kaleo has become one of my favorite bands. Sooooo good.
sold over one million albums worldwide, was certified double platinum in the US and music for X men... Phenomenal voice and talent
This is one rabbit hole worthy of a deep dive!
Had been on a sort of bands bucket list of mine to see them live and finally got to see them recently. Our minds were blown and love them even more now!!!
Saw them live this summer. Loved them before but live they blowed me out! IF you get the chance- go see them, one of the best conserts ever!
This song is so amazing. It got me at the end also with that whistle. They are rightly called Kaleo. It's their SOUND. It gets you right in the center... the center of your being.
Thank you, Beth. I heard JJ live before 2020, but post 2020 JJ and the band brought soul back into music, which honestly, we lost a lot after 2020.
I’ve been listening to Kaleo for 3-4 years now, and I cannot get enough of them. Although the sound is such a melting pot of styles and genres as you say Beth, their sound is very unique and so addictive.
I’m super excited that you have got hooked by them as well
More kaleo reactions, please.
I recently was introduced to Kaleo. Absolutely an amazing group.
I think of it as “whistling in the dark”, a very lonely sound, which speaks to the loneliness of the lyrics. I saw them in concert and they blow you away.
"i want more " from kaleo is lovely
Saw them live in Los Angeles 2 years ago best live performance I’ve seen in a long time.
I see Kaleo I click, they're such an underrated band and became my second favorite band right after Muse
The landscapes they use to record these videos are simply breathtaking, I recommend you to listen Skinny which is recorded during a volcanic eruption, or to Hey Gringo, which has no video, but it is really different from this style
Greetings from Mexico Beth
i really love the song called ''Vor í vaglaskógi'' from kaleo, it soo beautiful. but it is in icelandic. i would really love you reaction to it
I love this song. Hearing you break it down and explain stuff I ddint even realize is amazing! Hope to catch more of your breakdowns thank you!
Fuck yeah, I've been waiting for a proper vocal coach to breakdown his voice for A LONG TIME, they're soooo underrated, PLEASE react to other stuff from them, I would suggest My Fair Lady from their new record.
Come from the same village as Sigurrós. Electrified Mississippi Blues by guys from Mosfellsbaer in the North Atlantic.
You absolutely need to watch/react to their version of this song from 89.3 The Current. It's nothing short of heavenly.
Never really knew about these guys, aside from a single radio hit I'd heard a couple of times. Then I saw them at a festival last summer and found myself ordering their records on vinyl on the spot. Absolutely amazing sound.
The first time I heard Kaleo, I was hooked. Maybe you should try "Vor I Vaglaskogi"... sang in Icelandic... Beautiful.
And I would really like to hear your thoughts on "Evie" by Stevie Wright, an australian singer.
When I heard that the band is from Iceland the thought of “blues” never came to mind. I like the music but I can’t think of how to describe it so I won’t :-) Some of your subscribers have suggested other songs by Kaleo which I’ll definitely have to check out. Thanks for the introduction Ms. Roars.
So happy to see Kaleo show up on your channel. The mix of Icelandic tones and Americana Bluegrass is simply fantastic. I'd love to see you do a video on Barton Hollow by The Civil Wars.
I put them in the comments quite a few times, I'm glad that you got to hear them. This is early on, he is so much better know Imo, but you could check out his cover of cher's song bang bang, one of the best vocal performances I've seen

Beth next please react Burgerkill feat orkestra - An elegy or Noah - Hero band pop-rock Indonesia.👍
Please react to Madonna - Lament (re-invention tour)👍❤️
Please react to reyli barba_ amor del bueno
Aaah, I've been waiting forever for this review ❤️
I think the live recording of this they did for radio was a bit better than this particular recording, but I love this song regardless. 😊
you got it on the dot kaleo is a blues rock
Kelly Finnigan "Catch me I'm Falling"
You have to hear this voice, it will take you back in time. Simply amazing artist! Really enjoyed this reaction, I new you would love Kaleo.😎✌
Very strong blues influence!
Beautiful!
this was so well said. You characterized he "starkness" perfectly.
This band is fucking dope.
I adore Kaleo!
Amazing song
Love Kaleo and it was very interesting listening to the voice coach
Way down we go is outstanding. Please give a listen
Kaleo's music makes me want to drink really good bourbon whiskey and wrap myself in silk or velvet. So damned good...silky and smooth.
Just now heard of these guys but it's making want to break out the Scotch and go down the youtube rabbit hole
If you get the chance go to a live concert! Saw them at Red Rocks in Colorado last week. Sold out and everyone was on their feet for almost an hour and a half! They had 4 gals on strings and two gals singing backup. Magical!
I love Kaleo ...
If we're going Iceland, I want to see some Sigur Ros reactions!
They have this song called all the pretty girls where he sings only in his head voice, is amaaaaazing
Nice choice. Atmospheric location! Liked it! Quality!
As a vocal coach how could you never heard of Kaleo before🤷🏽♂️
And please listen to vor í Vaglaskói, its á Icelandic Classic
Yes finally a vocal coach reacting to kaleo. Check out hey gringo and their cover of bang bang both amazing
Well that certainly got you....
I had only heard Way down we go by this band but right on my track..
Also the 18 year old Diana Ankudinova did a informal cover of Way down ... she had fun and it suited her voice so well..👍🏼😎. A fan then went on and made a recut video of her performance with the bands and it works beautifully.. 😎🧙♂️🇬🇧
I wish more would listen to kaleo check out his cover of how it feels .. and all his music .. I love all talent and follow many artist of all genre's and followed most from their earliest days from Chris Stapleton, Adam calhoun, hospital, nf kaleo and many others so much talent out there
Yoooo I love this song!!!
you really need to check out their cover of "bang bang", its on youtube nad its my all time favourite song, his vocals on it is amazing
What I find crazy is JJ is self taught in terms of singing which is crazy
we need more of kaleo PLEASE, My fav would be Vor í Vaglaskógi. you should really get into their newest album tho its more upbeat 8)
Great...
I love that you chose a different song from Way Down We Go.
The best thing to come from iceland since the vikings
you should do a reaction to Bang Bang cover by Kaleo
Kaleo is an amazing band! I was really glad you did a reaction to them. I wish you'd do one with a song by Anathema. A Natural Disaster would be awesome.
Have you ever checked out Wolfmother? Andrew Stockdale is the singer. I searched them on youtube and could not find any vocal coach video on him. Give “Violence of the Sun” off of Cosmic egg album a listen.
Blues infiltrates.
You should listen to Kaleo's 'Save Yourself'. So heartrendingly lonely.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
I'm off to see this band (for the second time) in June in London.. tight band, he hits every note on stage.
There are so many videos you could react to of this band. This one is relatively tame. They get out on ice floes, volcanoes. They also do a live performance on a helipad of a Icelandic lighthouse which is well worth a look.
The guy also has the best hair in rock music today.
Just saw them the other day and first off it was one of the best concerts I've been to and Second he has long hair now lmao didn't expect it when he walked out
Introduced to me by my son. Seen them 4 times in concert. We saw them at Red Rocks last week. Beyond awesome! First time he saw them was years ago. Was a random venue in Reno. Promo with a local radio station. Only let in 80 people. Has been severely hooked ever since!
I’d love you hear your reaction to Lisa singing gurenge on the channel the first take! Not English but definitely worth listening to just cause of the emotion she puts into it
Kaleo do a a song called Rock N Roller, they only do it live and it has insane vocals
I actually randomly saw them live when they opened for the rolling stones in 2017.
A few lesser known artists/groups I'd love to see you react to, Beth Orton, suggested tracks Sweetest Decline, Pass in Time, Stolen Car and Central Reservation. Elysian Fields tracks Rope of Weeds and Black Acres, and lastly, while being far more well known, would love to see you react to some Massive Attack in particular Dissolved Girl, Black Milk and Group Four since almost all the reactions out there to their music is for Unfinished Sympathy, Teardrop and Angel. Don't get me wrong all great tracks but that's only scratching the surface of such a revolutionary and musically important group that along with Portishead, defined the entire trip hop genre.
P.S. Also wouldn't be at all disappointed if you decided to cover a few more Portishead tracks as well, Western Eyes, Humming and Glory Box spring to mind =)!!!
You must react on Vargas & Lagola Daughter of a Rifleman. Believe me, you won't regret it!
hey listen to their new take on an Icelandic classic "Sofðu unga ástin mín"
nice one. kaleo is really good. if you love icelandic bands there are so many to discover, like ásgeir, hjaltalín, sóley, valdimar, agent fresco, júníus meyvant, .....
still cannot understand why susanne sundfor (N) and anna von hausswolff (SE) havn't been featured yet. in my opinion they are under the best musicians and voices of our time.
Please react Kaleo Break my baby live from bridranger
Hah, that expression at 4:13 ears are having a feast!
Don't know if you'll see this, but I'd love to see your take on "Iron & Wine - The Trapeze Swinger - Live @ ACL"
The lyrics. The story. Amazing song.
did you know that the northernmost part of norway, svalbard, is celebrating the beginning of the polar night when the is darkness all around many days with a blues festival?
Lol jökull is my cousin so it’s funny seeing you react to him, well I don’t know him but he’s a cousin from my dads side, icelands a small country I can tell ya hahah
Kaleo “Way Down We Go”
I've just searched youtube for a professional vocalist who's reacted to anything by Melanie Safka. It doesn't seem to exist, which is just criminal. Perhaps you might consider reacting to something like 'Lay Down' or 'Look what they've done to my song, ma'?
Please do Backbone
We are amazed by them on this side of the pond too! There isn't a bad song on this entire album... unusual these days, eh, Beth?
Do you have suggestions for Icelandic bands?
Check out their video live at the volcano (titled: Skinny)
Kaleo is SO good. Silly they aren't more popular. Maybe that's a good thing these days. They trump 99% of the garbage put out today. Let's all enjoy it. :)
His voice is a gift from God!
This song is very personal for the singer as its about bein cheated on.
I saw an interview with him, several years ago. He said this song was the most personal for him. So, I think you’re right!
YOU SHOULD REACT TO "NO GOOD" BY KALEO
Sigue reaccionando a kaleo
Can you please check out more Dance Gavin Dance? I saw you reacted to one live song. They recently released a new song called "Synergy". That has another singer from another band joining them. It's worth checking. Also even more recent is the news that their Bassist has passed away. R.I.P. Tim Feerick.
Please react to HammerFall - Hammer of Dawn or Brotherhood, I remember you doing an old video from them a year ago. But this is their recent songs, And i wanna know if you think the Singer has improved. Because hes just getting better and better
Suggestions for reaction videos:
1) Agnes Obel
2) Tiny Museum
3) Joan as Police Woman
#BethRoars
I'd love to see you react to Sand In My Boots (The Dangerous Sessions) by Morgan Wallen. He's personally my favorite artist, his music is great!
