One thing to note about field fixing your chain with a master link is if you need to shorten your chain, you also can't shift into your lowest gear. To accomodate for having a shorter chain you can mentally remember to stay out of the last 1-2 largest gears of your cassete, or use your low limit screw to prevent shifting into them.
if you're just shortening it by 1 or 2 links, shifting into the lowest gear should often still work fine. The second lowest gear should definitely still work normally unless you shroten your chain by like 10 links (= 5").

For newer riders, I believe in a pinch if you only have the chain tool and no mstr link, you can still eliminate the bad section and rejoin the chain to get you back to the trailhead. After my first mountain bike trip, I fell in love with the sport. Then, I found your channels. I’ve been watching your videos for about 3-4 years now, and today, after years of waiting and working, was the day I finally bought a mountain bike. I’m about to be 15 on Tuesday. The bike I purchased was the Kona Honzo. This bike is $1,500 usd and lemme tell you guys. It’s one of the best birthday gifts I’ve ever had
I have those POC kneepads. Super impressive. They're a bit more structured than you would think but they aren't uncomfortable at all, and have saved my knees a number of times so far. Would happily buy again.
From personal experience I would buy a bike light from the dairy section at Walmart before I'd buy another one from Knog. I supported Knog for *years*, partly because they are from my city, and had literally every single one of them die for one reason or another. USB connection failure, battery failure, button failure, physical construction failure - all of the above. My local bike shops, when I mentioned the issues, echoed this - they've had similar issues with their Knog lights, too.
The only weakness I've found with Knog lights is the mounting solution. Given the weight of the light with battery and the premium materials used, the mount is plastic, gets loose and rattles after not a whole lot of usage. Amazing light for sure, but it's totally let down by the mount. It rattles around for me on my road bike, let alone riding trails on the full suspension mountain bike.
You can make a bike stand to work on your bike from 2x4s. You cut the 2 pieces 3 feet long and screw them at a 45 degree angle and then cut a board 6 inches shorter than your height and screw that at the point in the 45 degree angle. Then cut a board 1 1/2 feet long and screw that at the top of the board that sticks up.
Another good helmet is the bell super DH. I know it’s $300 but you basically get two helmets in one (full and half lid), it’s super comfy, they look sick, and the magnet buckle is the smallest yet greatest thing ever added to a helmet.
****video idea**** hey Seth. Love the channel. Since you are down for awhile and maybe trying to come up with ideas, I thought I'd throw one out. How about buying a budget frame and build with quality budget parts. Buy the parts where we could buy them easily and go through the process step by step so we could build the same bike with you. This would seem to be a good video series where you could get sponsors from the web site you buy from and the parts companies you use. Just a thought. Thanks for all the great videos.

I have a Evoc 2 bike pad for my Silverado. Works pretty good, got it from Amazon for like $90. My goto tire plug kit, is the Pro Bike Tool kit. Everything is contained in a aluminum pill style bottle. The reamer screws into the container top. That set me back a massive $20. Also running an Original Free Range tube gator, neoprene sheath with elastic cords. Works AWESOME!! Then I added a Topeak Bottle cage tool case.

Hey Seth, I would really like you to do a video reviewing front shocks, particularly shocks under 110 mm. Here's the story, my dad used to be a really hardcore mountain biker, but this was a loooong time ago. Now that he is older, his xc full suspension mountain bike that was really nice back in the late 90's and very early 2000's, is mostly used by me. It is still a nice bike that only weighs 25 lbs., The only problem is that the front shock that was only 90mm was leaking air (apparently it has been doing this for a very long time) and we had been combatting this by pumping fix-a-flat into them, this would work for a little while but recently I hit a jump and it completely blew out. So I have been looking for a new one that is under $170 but I don't know which ones to trust. If you have already done a video like this please just link it down below and I'm sorry for wasting your time, but if you haven't, I'm sure other people would be in the same situation and would love some more info.🙂😀😀😊
You don't have many options left, and soon it may be impossible to find a fork that fits and is good. Have you looked for a rebuild kit for your fork? The one fork I like is the Manitou Markhor, but like most options, it's disc brake only.
