I love the design of this TARDIS because it’s such a clear sign of the Doctor’s grief - it’s more stark and steely and engraved with Old High Gallifrean - like in the wake of losing Amy and Rory he refashions the TARDIS to remind him that he is not like us. He’s not human and has no business inflicting his dangerous life on us. It feels like a nice precursor to his eventual regeneration into the Twelfth Doctor, who as Vastra describes, is the “Old Man Revealed” - the veil lifted. 'Smaller on the outside' is probably closer to what the technology actual does - or at least, she was considering what it looks like from the perspective of the 'driver'. So yeah. Clara is awesome.
Isn't this the same Clara though? Just after she jumped into the Doctors timeline to save him. So we saw this before she actually did it cause she was a bit jumbled like River?
It makes sense why she says "smaller on the outside". Given that she's been looked down by others for her outside stature, and the fact she can be so much as proven by the moment when the doctor complimented her with "That's no more a box than you are a governess" and she took it as an insult about her stature. She has learnt to see people for more than what they are on the outside. It's actually quite fitting once you think about it. Simple line of words presents a lot about her character.
Clara: I'm wearing a dress, eyes front, soldier! Doctor: My eyes are always front! *goofy grin* Clara: Mine aren't! *smug look* ^ Favorite line and most likely line I'd say to the Doctor
isn't it kind of sexual harassment tho? especially when she said no after him telling her to not do it. and btw, this is coming from a girl who's always adored clara.. but i don't like that part so much :\
My favourite part of the episode; after a lot of moping, looking grim and speaking in short sentences, the Doctor starts jabbering again and his trademark childlike smile returns while the music declares "HE'S BACK!" Thank you, Clara!
The dialogue from the window part to the end was some of the most fast-paced and funny dialogue between The Doctor and Clara. I would watch a whole series of the Eleventh Doctor and Victorian Clara!
This is the version of Clara that should have traveled with the doctor. The chemistry between them is awesome here. I like Victorian Clara so much more then the one we finally ended up with.
The chemistry between these two is amazing!!! This has to be of my favourite eps ever. These two are my OTP they r so perfect together!! Also a brilliant performance from Jenna as Clara perhaps her best!
I absolutely love how the reveal is written. It starts with Clara describing the inside of her self, saying she isn't little. But after exploring the outside of the Tardis, her next words are to say it's smaller on the outside. What they've written is an inversion in Clara's dialogue, going from describing the inside of one thing to describing the outside of another. But there is still consistency between the two lines, in that she is describing them both as little.
Man I loved this Clara so so much. Smart, cheeky, witty, flirty.. Just brilliant! It frustrates me to no end how they screwed up her character in the eigth season. She was the perfect companion who would have met the perfet, unbeatable end by saving the Doctor in his timeline - now she's just an annoyance, especially since that Pink guy showed up. :(
Andre Weiss Yeah, and that sucks because it shouldn't be like this. A companion should never be that pissed off / lose interest because of a Doctor's Regeneration. All of time and space and amazing adventures are being offered to you; the fact that they made Clara not care for that anymore or just take it for granted was just wrong.
I love The Doctors little chuckle to himself when Clara goes out to check the rest of the TARDIS on the outside. It's like he's thinking "I love this bit."
Clara was "the boss" from the very beginning XD I remember loving how she was so curious and basically wanted to understand everything/ keep thinking/precessing stuff as she went along. In hindsight, the "Don't assume I'm just feisty candy waiting to be defrosted by you!" rant is also veeery her.
Best TARDIS reveal ever. The reveal is great the actors are great the episode which it's from is one of the best Christmas specials. The costumes are gorgeous. And we properly enter the TARDIS for the first time ever.
This never gets old, the companions marveling at the beauty of the tardis and going around to check if they saw correctly. Everytime with every companion my heart fills with joy when they see the tardis for the first time
I don't know about you but I always thought Clara and Eleven made a really great couple. Pair, sorry. I really wish Matt Smith would've stayed longer so they could expand on that relationship. Or something.
I have a good feeling about Peter Capaldi. I reckon he will be a mix of the First Doctor and the Seventh Doctor. A grumpy oldish man with a darker side to him :)
So, now that his run is basically done except for the Christmas episode, you were kinda right. He was grumpy, definitely old and he had a rather dark side to him. He also was a lot like the first, something the series 10 finale and the upcoming crossover episode with the first Doctor are reflecting rather nicely. and he indeed brought back the Jelly Babies, even if only for a single scene.
Am I the only one that thinks it would have been so much better to keep THIS Clara. Not only because I find her chemistry with The Doctor a lot stronger here, but also having a companion from a different time period than just whatever year the show is currently set would be an interesting.
You know, I was kind of against the new desktop theme for the TARDIS here. It looked great, but it just didn't suit Matt Smith's Doctor at all. Even as he continued to have the theme until his end, it never felt right to me. Maybe because it was so short lived until his regeneration. Then Peter Capaldi stood in it and showed it redecorated, with bookshelves and a chalk board and I said, "Ah. THAT'S who it was meant for."
Reasons for the change is they moved to a smaller studio and the old console was falling apart. I'm glad they did redesign it because the TARDIS is supposed to be a ship plus it echoed back to the Classic console room feel.
Raymond Conlon Smith said the purple outfit was the coolest one. It was also his idea when they also decided to change The Doctor's outfit. As long as he had the bowtie on, I'm fine with the change. Besides brown is an overused color and purple is a brave choice. Very whimsical like 11th and the frock coat and vest is a nice nod to the Classic roots.
Yeah, she was a special one. 10th and Rose had a beautiful hidden romantic dynamic and they clicked together. 11th and Amy and Rory were like a family and a brilliant team. 11th and Clara though were a whole power team of two best buds.
+portalbros I met Jenna Coleman at a Fan Expo back in October. Told her she was among my top favorite companions and she signed my autograph book with a blushing smile.

Doctor: My eyes are always front! *goofy grin*
Clara: Mine aren't! *smug look*
^ Favorite line and most likely line I'd say to the Doctor
Smug would be A very strange reaction to appreciating a nice butt.
THAT'S THE WAY TO DO IT!
oswin: “i mean he does have that chin but once you look past that 😏” (i didn’t feel like copy-pasting the lennyface)
And probably the only time the Doctor wasn't offended at being called a soldier
isn't it kind of sexual harassment tho? especially when she said no after him telling her to not do it.
and btw, this is coming from a girl who's always adored clara.. but i don't like that part so much :\
My favourite part of the episode; after a lot of moping, looking grim and speaking in short sentences, the Doctor starts jabbering again and his trademark childlike smile returns while the music declares "HE'S BACK!" Thank you, Clara!
"...And it's mine..."
Well, he technically stole it so...
Yeah, right, and, as president of the Timelords, I think he could afford it ^^
+matrix86 Don't forget that it stole him too.
@@dharfen158 He wasn't president when he stole it.
He only became president somewhere around 2000 years (in his own lifespan) later
Didn't she technically let him take her
the tardis stole him actually. she unlocked her doors
Best Tardis Intro ever
And still is
I think Doctor choreographed the whole scene to impress the girls.
Centuries of practice 😄
@@OneofInfinity. because it's bigger on the inside?
This Clara's personality seems SOOO much more entertaining. Why didn't this one become the companion? You know what I mean.
"Eyes front, Solider!"
"My eyes are always front!"
"Mine aren't..."
And that sums why I love Whouffle so much.
"No no. I do the hand-grabbing.That's my job, THAT'S ALWAYS ME!"
XD
"I'm good at stupid!" - 11th Doctor
@3:00
No matter how many times we've seen thr inside of the Tardis, it will never stop being an epic moment.
The Doctor thinking: "She is obviously gonna say Bigger on the Inside"
The Doctor: 3:27
Clara: 3:42
The Doctor thinking: umm... "that's new"
Man I loved this Clara so so much.
Paper-Macheté Join the Club.^^ It really is a shame how they flushed her awesomeness down the loo.
Paper-Macheté But that was because 'her' Doctor regenerated into Capaldi. That's the reason she's all moody/cranky in Series 8.
SingenStatt Atmen Exactly!
SingenStatt Atmen And seriously when 9 regenerated into 10, Rose didn't give shit. She just moved on.
Doctor: "Okay, that is a first." ROFL bwahahahaa, omg, the look on his face.....
2:46 - 3:10 is the greatest shot ever. Saul Metzstein is a seriously underrated director.
__davidmb Everytime I see it I question how it was done
IanXPikachu greenscreen
Ivo Sentinella nope that is the first and only shot that they filmed where the doctor walks into a bigger on the inside TARDIS
Marty Mcmarty yeah but greenscreen outside of the tardis to hide inside part of the tardis from outside
Marty Mcmarty and in day of the doctor there is a scene where clara rides a bike inside a tardis in one shot so that is the second scene
The best presentation of the TARDIS interior and the music at 3:32 is just brilliant
No matter how many times I watch this, that bass drop right as the lights kick on just hits my soul. One of the best moments.
Pity we don't see anything like it on the show anymore
I love The Doctors little chuckle to himself when Clara goes out to check the rest of the TARDIS on the outside. It's like he's thinking "I love this bit."
"you're going to have to take those clothes off". Hahaha
***** yep lol
Clara was "the boss" from the very beginning XD
I remember loving how she was so curious and basically wanted to understand everything/ keep thinking/precessing stuff as she went along. In hindsight, the "Don't assume I'm just feisty candy waiting to be defrosted by you!" rant is also veeery her.
The biggest mistake of the Smith era was killing this clara. It legitimately set the rest of the season up for mediocrity.
Best TARDIS reveal ever. The reveal is great the actors are great the episode which it's from is one of the best Christmas specials. The costumes are gorgeous. And we properly enter the TARDIS for the first time ever.
Clara: I'm not sweet and-
Doctor *thinking*: oh gosh. Let's shut her up. *turns on lights*
"It's smaller on the outside."
That's the way to do it!
I love how proud the Doctor is about his Tardis. I mean, his face when the lights are on and the way he smiles, oh
This never gets old, the companions marveling at the beauty of the tardis and going around to check if they saw correctly. Everytime with every companion my heart fills with joy when they see the tardis for the first time
2:14 the doctor is an airbender confirmed
The scene that proves these two are perfect together.
I don't know about you but I always thought Clara and Eleven made a really great couple. Pair, sorry. I really wish Matt Smith would've stayed longer so they could expand on that relationship. Or something.
Omg, & I thought I was the only one on that :D
Lavinia Suresh Kumar For some reason I did like the two dead Claras a lot more than the original
TheMegoShow Well I personally agree with u on that, but they can't be together with the Doctor since they both were horribly killed can they
Lavinia Suresh Kumar That would be impossible.
+Draco wolf What and have another Rose and 10 situation? Pass.
I have a good feeling about Peter Capaldi. I reckon he will be a mix of the First Doctor and the Seventh Doctor. A grumpy oldish man with a darker side to him :)
And it would be nice if he brought back the jelly babies
He's not like any previous Doctor. Trust me... I know.
Spoilers.
DarthRushy Saw what ya did there
Spidey Viewer
Moffat wanted to, but the BBC didn’t let him
Did anyone noticed that in 2:42 you can hear the 9th/10th Doctor TARDIS Hum?
Just another unfortunate goof.
Oh my god you can! I’ve never noticed
Haha I love his face at the beginning, surprised which suddenly shifts to angry like he flicked a switch xD
If he was angry, Simeon would be in the void. That's more his, annoyed face ;-P
3:32 : A very Hartnell-esque giggle. ;-)
Hmm indeef
I loved the 11th doctor. The first doctor I got to know was David Tennant, but Matt Smith's will always be my doctor.
Same thing.
Geronimo
well Tennant is my doctor but matt smith is also good..he is really funny
fantastic
''It's called the Tardis. It can travel anywhere in time, and space.
*And it's mine."*
Oh, LOVE the banter between these two! You don't always see The Doctor befuddled or on the odd foot, but this is beautifully done!
Clever staircase it´s taller on the inside. timelords
Shouldn't it be taller on the outside though?
best entrance ever
Love his new Tardis and his new look :')
*her new look^^
Haha sorry :P "her"
the bit where he turns on the lights is my favourite scene in the show just the music is brilliant
I wish I could like this video more than once - STILL my favourite TARDIS reaction! Absolutely adore Clara in all her echoes and guises :)
Wasn't this the first time they were actually able to transition between outside the TARDIS and then inside 100% legit?!
I think so. I think they just had the door to the set up against a green screen so they could just walk in.
Yeah I remember them doing something along that lines in Confidential
Actually, a fanfilm did that way back in 1995 or so. It's true!
I hope you're not referring to McGann's film because it didn't happen in that
Scott Davidson I said "fanfilm". It's called Devious and takes place between the Troughton and Pertwee eras.
I actually like it better the way it was here. The orange rotor clashes horribly with the rest of the interior.
DarthRushy Depends on how you look at it...
Reasons for the change is they moved to a smaller studio and the old console was falling apart. I'm glad they did redesign it because the TARDIS is supposed to be a ship plus it echoed back to the Classic console room feel.
***** That and the new outfit. Kind of wish he'd kept the Tweed jacket all the way to the end.
I do hope we get an episode with the real Clara and one of her copies at the same time. It would be a crime not to.
3:05 The noise sends chills down the spine
This is the absolute best "entering the TARDIS" scene out of the entire show, IMO. Man the goosebumps...
Gosh I'm starting to miss this Doctor already!!!!
Doctor: Go on, say it. Most people do.
Clara: It's smaller in the Outside
Doctor: ........ Okay that's new
FAIL!
I love the Doctors smug little face when he reveals the Tardis interior.
There's like a big pause between Clara finishing her sentence and the TARDIS' lights turning on and it's slowly killing me every time I watch this...
Maybe she noticed it being bigger BEFORE the lights were turned on
Clara (all of them) was one of the best companions the Doctor ever had. She does not deserve any of the hate the simple minded fans throw at her.
Yeah, she was a special one. 10th and Rose had a beautiful hidden romantic dynamic and they clicked together. 11th and Amy and Rory were like a family and a brilliant team. 11th and Clara though were a whole power team of two best buds.
People hated on Clara? Seriously? But she’s funny!
One of my favorite 11 moments! Goodbye Matt Smith!
Oh Matt, how we will miss you!
I think Clara is my favorite. Also, I think compared to Billie Piper, Freema Ageyman, Katherine Tate, and Karen Gillan, Jenna Coleman is the prettiest
I love Clara, but Donna will always be my face.
+ToastCrossDimensions my face, yeah
That was supposed to say fave! XD
+ToastCrossDimensions It doesn't matter! It's BRILLIANT the way you DID say it! XD
+portalbros I met Jenna Coleman at a Fan Expo back in October. Told her she was among my top favorite companions and she signed my autograph book with a blushing smile.
To quote one comment that I saw a while back, the way Matt says "And it's mine" feels like he's channeling William Hartnell.
3:10 He seems a bit arrogant and too proud but I like this scene very much.
