I think the original plan was that the Doctor was going to have the Victorian-era Clara as his companion. But BBC didn't want that and wanted a modern-day companion as per Doctor Who tradition. So Clara Oswin Oswald from 2014-2015 would join. Missed opportunity, but understandably so as to why there are so many Variants of Clara later seen in "The Heart of the TARDIS" episode.
But it makes sense. That Clara was a variant of the real Clara after being with the Doctor for a while, so her Victorian character was already molded into a perfect companion to the Doctor.

I think it's really hard for the cast in Thirteen's seasons to do a lot with what they're given, script-wise... Jodie Whitaker is a very good actor, she *can* act, but when writing is such utter trash and has no charisma to it, it's hard to imbue it with much charisma. A great example of this is the Master in Power of the Doctor, whose acting was incredible, but most of their lines were terrible, so even if you roll that turd in glitter, it's still a turd...
Jodie really isn't the problem. She is a wonderful actress and portrays the Doctor really well. I do think that it's the writer's fault that she didn't shine as bright as she could have. And because she is the first female Doctor and a lot of fans already hated that idea, I think they shied away from flirty chemistry with any of the companions. I love how ten by the end of day of the doctor was just like: yeah imma kiss her hand, what of it, we’re the same person if you’re dating her, so am I 😂😂
“Stay here” “Okay” “Stay here. Don’t argue.” “I’m not” This is why Clara is the best companion. She doesn’t ignore the Doctor or ask “Whyyyy?” She trusts him and listens to him.
Clara was better than I expected her to be but for me, 11 will always go with Amy and Rory. The three of them had such amazing chemistry together and were just a perfect trio.
i'm literally crying right now. i love them as a couple but their on-screen chemistry was one of the best of any show or movie i've seen, whether it was romantic or platonic. Also I forgot how much I like that one song in the soundtrack when something good is about to happen (I gotta see if i like the rest of the soundtrack as much).
I know it's derided by most of the fandom, but I have a real soft spot for Series 7, as it's just good fun. Or perhaps it's because I fancied Clara a bit too much... 😆
Jenna Coleman is so adorable! And unique among companions; she's three somewhat different characters, but all the same in the end. She dies three times, but is brought back on the third. One almost thought Clara and 11 would actually make out on screen, but this is the BBC. How she eventually adjusts to Peter Capaldi's Doctor shows her range. She loves them both, but not as one might think. It's deeper than that. And Murray Gold's music for her is perfect. She always knows.
I have to admit I fell madly in love with Clara right along with the Doctor. Match made in heaven. When she entered his time stream... well, that was true love and obviously forever.
God I wish Victorian Clara was the one to become the companion for her run; shame she appeared in a christmas episode. No potential companion survives a christmas episode unless they are already a companion.
The Past Doctors and their Companions were amazing but there’s just something about Clara and Eleven that works so well and hits different that I wished we got more of them because the chemistry between Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman is just so amazing
That bit at 5:57. Immediately made me think this: The Doctor tries a peacock impression. Space peacock fails to impress lady. Also, I think they missed a trick when The Doctor tried teaching Clara to fly. Here's what I think they should have done. (Doctor puts it to basic mode) Clara: Basic. Because I'm a woman Doctor: No. (Clara makes a smug facial expression) Doctor: Because you're human (Smug expression evaporates)
This is not just my favorite companion, it's also my favorite doctor companion relationship, this is what I started Doctor Who with, 11 and Clara (Episode: Hide), and I will defend Clara as well
I really loved Clara as a companion. Honestly my favorite of all of them. Sad her ending was... what it was. Jenna Coleman really has a lot of charisma, and cuteness
Agreed Clara and Amy would have so much fun And if it wasn't for Rose and Clara both liking the doctor romantically, they would get on fairly well too but diverge in some ways.
12 minutes of reasons why the whole "I never thought you were" line in response to "Clara I'm not your boyfriend" did not make sense. She clearly liked him. Like more than a friend. I have a feeling that if Matt Smith had stuck around for longer we would have had a similar storyline to Rose and Ten. But I guess with Peter Capaldi's casting they had to address the situation in a way that let the fans know that the dynamic would be changing. Not that there would be a problem with Clara still flirting with him post regeneration, since age is only a number.
The line makes all the sense, but it's not because Clara was telling the truth, but because she is avoiding emotional vulnerability due to her need to be in control of things. The prequel to 'Name of the Doctor' makes is pretty explicit that she loves him romantically but is making the choice not to make it official because that might complicate things. The situation in "Deep Breath" is basically that both thought the other wanted to break up & pretended to be ok with it to at least save the friendship. (rather like both dupe the other at the end of 'Death in Haven') But it's clear that neither of them is really over it in series 8 ("beat *that* for a date!") And I mean they effectively get back together in "Last Christmas" (when Clara says he's the one person she would have considered marrying) & are basically an item throughout series 9. He full on plays 'pretty woman' at her with his guitar & alot of their dialogues are very romantic.

I love how ten by the end of day of the doctor was just like: yeah imma kiss her hand, what of it, we’re the same person if you’re dating her, so am I 😂😂
I LOVE IT AT 3:12 WHEN THE DOCTOR SAYS "Clara Puh lease"
8:09 that was pretty well hidden but I can't believe they let them keep that in lol
Oh god I've been looking for this clip of 11 spanking Clara's bum
“Stay here”
“Okay”
“Stay here. Don’t argue.”
“I’m not”
This is why Clara is the best companion. She doesn’t ignore the Doctor or ask “Whyyyy?” She trusts him and listens to him.
Until the end
The point was it was the opposite of what Victorian Clara did.
@@TaxingIsThieving It was justified that time
Like an obedient good-girl daughter, not a wife or equal who challenges him to be a better person. She’s literally his daughter people
Nothing will ever beat the perfection that was 10 - 11 - 12
Each iconic enough to signify an entire personality type.
7b is probably the series I rewatched the most and this pretty much sums up why.
never seen more than a minute of this show before in my life, but I can’t stop smiling lmao
I suggest watching the other 31590 minutes (it will hurt but you should watch it anyway)
oh god... I only just noticed that the one kid Clara's nannying said the doctor is an alien based purely on his chin...
gold, i just love that
They had such chemistry.. Clara's cheekiness made her so loved.
Loved all the 11 moments but I think my fave was 10 going, "Hey, I'm down to trade if you are"
This is the best 11/Clara edit I have ever seen. I was cracking up with every caption 😂
Clara was better than I expected her to be but for me, 11 will always go with Amy and Rory. The three of them had such amazing chemistry together and were just a perfect trio.
Tbh Matt smith is such an amazing actor he has chemistry with almost everyone
I agree, they fulfill my love for found family and you can just TELL how much they need each other
2:21 "I'm not sulkin-"
"YOU LIVE IN A BOX"
🤣🥰
i'm literally crying right now. i love them as a couple but their on-screen chemistry was one of the best of any show or movie i've seen, whether it was romantic or platonic.
Also I forgot how much I like that one song in the soundtrack when something good is about to happen (I gotta see if i like the rest of the soundtrack as much).
I know there is alot of love for 10 and Rose. But 11 and Clara's love story was beautiful.
There is nothing more romantic than a thousand year old space man being silly and shy towards clara
I know it's derided by most of the fandom, but I have a real soft spot for Series 7, as it's just good fun. Or perhaps it's because I fancied Clara a bit too much... 😆
well most of the fandom are either blind or brainless
Since the recent doctors writing hasn’t been up to par most fans appreciate series 7 now I always have but even more now
Jenna Coleman is so adorable!
5:19 "If anyone needs us we'll be fucking in a cupboard." Lol that one had me rolling.
I love the 11th Doctors and Clara’s chemistry!! Best duo ever!!
Clara is so underrated. I never understood why so many people hate on her
I needed these 2 to have another season together!
I loveeeee them. Thank you so much for posting this--they're my ultimate OTP
Anyone: kisses the Doctor
The Doctor's hands: AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
literally never have understood how some ppl watch this season an don't think they're in love lololol
I know people hate this combination, but watching this I had a big smile on my face throughout!
why do they hate, they are so sweet
I have to admit I fell madly in love with Clara right along with the Doctor. Match made in heaven. When she entered his time stream... well, that was true love and obviously forever.
I love their relationship.
4:52 Entire scene is soooo cute
God I wish Victorian Clara was the one to become the companion for her run; shame she appeared in a christmas episode. No potential companion survives a christmas episode unless they are already a companion.
Donna???
Wilf survived. So did Jackson Lake and Rosita.
Not only did Donna survive but she became a full-time companion
A dialogue with those two is like watching walts 😂
The Past Doctors and their Companions were amazing but there’s just something about Clara and Eleven that works so well and hits different that I wished we got more of them because the chemistry between Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman is just so amazing
11 and Clara were a perfect couple...best friends, in love, constant humor together and always pushing each other to be better.
2:44 I nearly spat my drink out, the caption ! 😂
why didnt you include when they both go into the truth field for the first time and clara says shes secretly in love with him or something
"I'm wearing a wig."
What episode is that? I can’t seem to remember it for some reason
@@Sj-wb1hc The Time of the Doctor
1:14
Points towards house.
Also doctor: blames his hand
You know, I just coined a new term: “Clara’ed: the act of being immeasurably flustered by someone saying something witty.”
11 and the ponds will always be my fav but 11 and Clara were so cute
3:15 the way he says “Clara please” makes him seem like a disappointed parent
This really just makes me wish that Victorian-era Clara had been the companion :(
I like that "if you want to switch" at the end.
2:39 THAT SMILE THOOO
I forgot how many cute/iconic moments these two had! So good!!
That bit at 5:57. Immediately made me think this: The Doctor tries a peacock impression. Space peacock fails to impress lady.
Also, I think they missed a trick when The Doctor tried teaching Clara to fly.
Here's what I think they should have done.
(Doctor puts it to basic mode)
Clara: Basic. Because I'm a woman
Doctor: No.
(Clara makes a smug facial expression)
Doctor: Because you're human
(Smug expression evaporates)
2:39 HES SO CUTE
*cums*
This is fucking hilarious😭🤣Your intertitles for this are EVERYTHING and so accurate!
I love Clara's theme so much
It's sad Clara and Amy never met I feel like they would of been amazing friends
Agreed Clara and Amy would have so much fun
And if it wasn't for Rose and Clara both liking the doctor romantically, they would get on fairly well too but diverge in some ways.
@@ladyfoxwf1075 theyd be fine they love different regenerations
@@ladyfoxwf1075 Weren´t Clara and Rose friends at some point?
@@cargo71 No but I wish
I just loved these two together. 10 and Rose, 11 and Clara.
(rather like both dupe the other at the end of 'Death in Haven')
But it's clear that neither of them is really over it in series 8 ("beat *that* for a date!")
And I mean they effectively get back together in "Last Christmas" (when Clara says he's the one person she would have considered marrying) & are basically an item throughout series 9. He full on plays 'pretty woman' at her with his guitar & alot of their dialogues are very romantic.
