Matt Smith is technically his last original life, and she probably doesn't know what ended up happening on Trenzalore, so she would know that he had a new face. In fact, she says in the episode that he only has the twelve faces we've already seen before.

I'm pretty sure you'd be able to find about a hundred examples of that in Classic Who. Which just brings to mind River running through the Doctors entire timeline, partly to borrow the TARDIS, partly to get pictures of The Doctor's faces.
NPCarlsson I imagine the Master stealing it might have inspired him to come up with system in the first place. He just never bet on that hand growing into a full clone of him and wandering off into the sunset with Rose.
There's also the issue of the "severed" head of Micky the Auton in the VERY first episode of NewWho in 2005... it was able to leave then, when the rest of the Auton was left behind...
I‘d like to point out how, after The Doctor’s theatrical display, River’s following reaction is to pour herself a shot of brandy. Like “Oh God! I’m gonna need a little something to deal with this headache!”
See, THIS, is when Capaldi Actually gotta real chance to be the Doctor. He’s so hilarious! River should’ve just had a spin-off season with him. They’re excellent together!

Doctor: "You probably want to press that button" River: "Why? That evacuates the waste tank on deck seven" Doctor: "Does it? Better avoid deck seven then"
I kinda wonder how long the Doctor spent perfecting that shtick. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if he's been practicing it since his first incarnation.
How could he? There was nothing subtle about that. Plus, remember what he said to Clara? "You look right at me but you don't see me. Do you have any idea what that's like?" And this was his wife
Yeah sadly it will never be the same again. At least, not completely. They may eventually hire a good candidate for the role of the Doctor but I doubt there will be a creative teams as genius as Steven Moffat, Mark Gatis and Russel T Davis
It is hilarious reversal of themselves when it came to how long for Doctor to figure out who River was to himself. River had not realized who Doctor was is actually adorable bookend move to happened since it had happened to herself from the Doctor.

1:30 when the Doctor kinda breaks the forth wall and not only shows but tells us all how you’re actually meant to react when you step inside and see the inside of the Tardis for the first time. 🤣🤣🤣
This should’ve been the launch of a River Song spin off. Her stealing the Tardis from different Doctors going on an adventure then dropping it back off.
This whole episode is my favorite episode. Plays the naive one just to mess with River and then drops so many clues to River that it's him and she doesn't even pick up on it.
Capaldi was perfect for this doctor because of his age it really shows how wise the doctor can be and also relates to how people react during a mid life crisis (when he learned he was suppose to die and went on a tangent and Clara has to go save him) this doctor sounds how he is fun and kind of sarcastic, mature, and wise because of his age, it’s just great casting.

1:49 Can we take a moment to appreciate Capaldi's "realising its bigger on the inside" face
Probably why The Tenth Doctor kept his old hand in the Tardis.
Clever thinking. Although, The Master took off with it.
NPCarlsson I imagine the Master stealing it might have inspired him to come up with system in the first place. He just never bet on that hand growing into a full clone of him and wandering off into the sunset with Rose.
It could be because the Master didn't have the hand in the same temporal space until he took it with him in Utopia
Inspire him to od what? Built a TARDIS with a beeping interface?
There's also the issue of the "severed" head of Micky the Auton in the VERY first episode of NewWho in 2005... it was able to leave then, when the rest of the Auton was left behind...
*When You're Over-Qualified for the Job*
Peter is amazing in this episode.
"Seriously?" At the very end there, OMG that was beautiful xD
I‘d like to point out how, after The Doctor’s theatrical display, River’s following reaction is to pour herself a shot of brandy. Like “Oh God! I’m gonna need a little something to deal with this headache!”
I love the way his freakout is cut together. It really implies that the Doctor was prancing around yelling at the ceiling for several minutes.
"Sorry. I've always wanted to see that done properly."
The Doctor's face when River opens up the minibar in the wall. He's like: 'What the hell? Has that always been there?'
12 and River make so much more sense as a couple and there's only one episode with them together. We were all robbed.
See, THIS, is when Capaldi Actually gotta real chance to be the Doctor. He’s so hilarious! River should’ve just had a spin-off season with him. They’re excellent together!
"Oh my... GOD!"
that line delivery right there is the best I've seen in any form of media. this man is amazing
he was trying to subtly hint that he's the doctor but river just isn't getting the message 😂😂
She is Amy's daughter after all.
Mayo Tango131 👏
3:55
It was so subtle, that it was as if he threw a brick at her
Subtly?
I love this scene... But I also love the fact that he almost says "You can't steal a TARDIS" You know... That thing, he did... Twice... The thing he did so famously that he has gotten this far.
Peter Capaldi is just so good in this..
The reason for the TARDIS being unable to take off is one of the best pieces of Sci-fi this show has done in years!
Doctor: "You probably want to press that button"
River: "Why? That evacuates the waste tank on deck seven"
Doctor: "Does it? Better avoid deck seven then"
I kinda wonder how long the Doctor spent perfecting that shtick. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if he's been practicing it since his first incarnation.
Maybe the Doctor should've been less "subtle" if River seriously didn't get it after he went "You can't just steal a TAR-A box!"
How could he? There was nothing subtle about that. Plus, remember what he said to Clara? "You look right at me but you don't see me. Do you have any idea what that's like?" And this was his wife
He outright said, "I'm the Doctor" to her face, and she *still* didn't get it. There wasn't much more he could do.
Every facial expression Peter makes in this clip is pure comedy gold
1:37 The tardis is definitely making some exciting noises during this scene
0:50 River is so fortunate the Tardis likes her.
Finally! Done properly.
Every time I watch it I laugh out loud.
it happens me too :D
this was my favorite scene in the episode
Awesome jake 11 me too!! And also the scene where she finally realized it was him when he said hello sweetie
This is my 2nd fav. But I think the best was this one from the episode

That first "GOD" is so inappropriately loud it's great XD
The whole scene was funny, but the "Seriously?" at the end floored me.
I miss when Doctor Who was this good. Capaldi is such an amazing actor.
Yeah sadly it will never be the same again. At least, not completely. They may eventually hire a good candidate for the role of the Doctor but I doubt there will be a creative teams as genius as Steven Moffat, Mark Gatis and Russel T Davis
@@zl3791 they have now 😃😃
@@zl3791 Russell is returning lol but yes ever since chibnall doctor who has been a boring chore
@@ScoobyandShaggy5554 And that’s when it’s at its best. The worst was The Timeless Children, which spat upon the show’s legacy like it was nothing…
It's typical how it takes ages for River to realise it's the Doctor! 😂
Like her mother it took ages to realize that Rory loved her and that he was not his gay friend that she believed.
It is hilarious reversal of themselves when it came to how long for Doctor to figure out who River was to himself. River had not realized who Doctor was is actually adorable bookend move to happened since it had happened to herself from the Doctor.
I always think he's my third favorite behind 10 and 11. But every time I watch him I realize that he is actually my favorite lol. I think it's more that I enjoyed the story from 10 and 11s era more.
He was an amazing doctor, and I LOVE watching him and River interact.
"Why ?! That evacuated the waste tank on deck 7 !"
"Does it...? Better avoid Deck 7 then.."
Gold. 👌
Next week, on Doctor Who: "Troubles at Deck 7"
I think he can just delete it in TARDIS reality and create again if needed
Love how the dr who goes super dramatic when entering the tardis
Well he always wanted to see it done properly
I feel like she should have realized that this was The Doctor when he did his "bigger on the inside" act. Who else would be this over the top? Also the different hints he gave leading up to it.
I just wonder how many times they had to film this scene because no one could keep a straight face for the whole thing and not break out laughing.
Atter 3 years of Capaldi, they're probably used to it.
I absolutely love that the Doctor is finally given the chance to react to the interior of the TARDIS for the first time! Brilliant and very funny thinking! Excellent writing from Steven Moffat and wonderfully acted by Peter Capaldi!
I love how he says "Oh... my... ... ... GOD!!!" That's just hilarous XD
2:00 How does she not recognize him from this rant.
2:25 I would love it if he said "don't worry I won't tell Rory"
1:30 when the Doctor kinda breaks the forth wall and not only shows but tells us all how you’re actually meant to react when you step inside and see the inside of the Tardis for the first time. 🤣🤣🤣
"You are very quick"
"Yes, for a doctor"
"Yes!"
"... Seriously?"
Peter Capaldi and Alex Kingston Ladies and Gentlemen(?)
They make a great team and the Doctors description of the tardis is brilliant.
Im so glad that river got to meet the 12th doctor, They work so well together.
Dr Who I'm being as patient as I can. PLEASE HELP IM BEING PATIENT AND I CANT WAIT TIL CHRISTMAS FOR THIS
Lord Omega it feels like it's been more
MLP Art Cloud only next Sunday >.
this tardis is absolutely gorgeous!
I love how Doctor Who's fanservice extends to the actors as well.
