Louise, this is the first video I’ve seen where someone explains the paints. It’s so clear now. Thank you! And of course, your lazy Susan is gorgeous… they all are gorgeous and can see why you can’t keep your art in stock!
Hi Lauren, 😘I’m so glad I took the time to share this as I haven’t taken much time getting to the basic level. The only reason why I brought it up is because I had several people in the last couple months. Tell me they were following my recipe, but their paints were returning pastel so I knew they weren’t really, so I figured I better just put out an all points broadcast to everybody explaining how the pouring medium works and what paint you have to use. So glad it’s helpful!!!♥️♥️♥️
Thank you so much, Donna, it’s amazing what you can find on your phone after a few months! Totally forgot I had this video, glad I could finally delete it😘😘 and free up some space💙💙😅😅
I have MS and I love this type of art. I have studied the Shelee bloom techniques, but because of your comprehensive explanation, I FINALLY GET IT. Thank you thank you thank you 😊
Thank YOU Georgia! 😘😘Please feel free to share this sentiment to anyone, I really do take pride and take time to explain things the way I would’ve wanted them explained it to me when I was first starting out. I’m so glad it’s been helpful to you and hopefully many others.😘
Louise, you have such a knack for digging into your way of building your paintings. Your voice over's are great, especially when you are knowing, when to add reference to how and why you are doing what you are doing, from what paint we should use to get the results you are getting. I love your ability to go back, and remember something you maybe thought of, to explain to us now, so we get the same or even better results 🤗☺❤ Love this one so much!!
Thanks so much, 😘😘Jude. It was at the last minute I decided to add all the voiceovering about the paints and the mixtures in which paints to use because recently I’ve had several people tell me they’ve been following my recipe, but they’ve been getting pastel and washed out colors And I’m thinking to myself. There’s no way you’re following my recipe if you’re getting that result. So I decided I better say something and in fact, there was one person that wrote from this creation how they had the same problem and it turned out that when Home Depot sent them the paint they sent them the wrong paint. So I’m glad I said something and hopefully save other people more problems. Sometimes when you’ve done things for so long, you forget to cover the foundation, and that’s a little bit what today was. Thank you so much Jude for being here again.🖤🧡
Thanks Julie, the recipes have always been available, video 140 PM and video 141 CA and shared in my descriptions, just put it all together with several ppl lately saying they followed my recipe to get pale results only to find out they used the wrong paints, just making it clear and in 1 place!
Wow, just simply beautiful!! Great video. Love all your creative ideas. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful evening, maybe you'll get to see the mana bear & her cubs. 😊💖
Thanks Judy! Actually, I saw the 3 cubs and momma today and I was moving up resin so I couldn’t spend time watching, but they we’re here and tomorrow I have a short video coming out with the mama and two cubs family🧸

What a coincidence! I was just mixing paints for a pour, and they were all fading out. Getting frustrated, I was just taking a break and saw this video become available and you solved my problem immediately! I just checked my paint for the pouring medium and it is not what I ordered! The local Home Depot will not let you order or ship a base paint online… You have to go get it. Although I ordered the 6413N, they shipped me 6411, so I’ll be calling them about a refund. Just picked up the right base and will try again. Thank you so much for going back over this… The recipes have been the hardest part of getting started with all of this.
Beautiful lazy susan! You also shared invalueble tips that I truly appreciate!!! It is clear to me why it is so important to use the Glidden 6413N or Valspar. Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge with us!
Thank you so much😘, Bill, I had to think that working many years at Graphic Packaging international as quality manager fielding customer complaints for colors, I’ve learned a thing or two about colors, variation, and combinations. Who to thought working in manufacturing would help here.😂
Hello Top Mallorca, 🧡🧡I appreciate you being here, this is a lazy Susan and I do lots of these type types of creations with functional Art. Thank you 😘
@LouiseMcKayArt i recommend that people watch your channel all the time. You give great tips & actually show people what you're doing & you tell them why you're doing it
Thanks Paws😘🧡, yes, lately I’ve been getting a lot of people asking why their paints have turned to pastel, and sometimes I just don’t even think about sharing the beginner information I just take it for granted. But yes, it’s very important to know you need a base three or base C paint for your pouring medium. So many little things can trip people up with his technique.🤞🤞
Thanks Kim 💙😘glad to help and remember that my pouring medium recipe and how I make it as in video 140 and American Floetrol Cell are activator recipes video 141, both are definitely worth looking at to see how I create them and the consistencies I’m looking for once I’ve created them.💙
Gina, 😘thank you so much. I appreciate your support. The best way to get over your nerves just decide to go for it. It’s a simple decision. Just decide “I’m going to try this.” I might suggest you start on something smaller if you haven’t already and work your way up to this.😉
Absolutely stunning piece, Louise. Your videos are always so full of amazing information. I’m just about out of my old Behr 8300, so this recipe will really come in handy.
@@flipperc6042 same with me for two years and then it changed. It would be one thing if from the get-go I had to trouble, but for two years, I’ve varnished one time one side the top and poured on it and was no problem now no matter which way I go it doesn’t work. That’s the frustrating part something changedon the product side and I can’t figure out how to get around it.
Damn 🤦♀️🤦♀️. Your comment on varnishing the back to prevent warping made me slap my forehead 😂😂😂. That explains why this happens to me 😂. I have had to wait a couple of weeks for it to dry then turn upside down with a weight on it . This is the only way I could flatten it out 😂😂😂😂
Hi Diana, I’m not saying that varnishing the back is going to help because I’ve done two of them where it’s warped on me, but I’m still going to try something else tomorrow and I’ve been in the meantime found some alternatives from other places like TJ Maxx. I’ve also had one that warped that unwarpedover time, so we’ll see where the story ends
@ Louise , it occurred to me that the pieces that have warped could not have been 100% solid wood . I looked at the wood I purchased at Home Depot and I didn’t have any issues 🤷♀️.
@@Diana-ft7vl I just tried another IKEA Lazy Susan today after priming it with Kilz spray primer and eight hours later it still looks OK so I’ll keep my fingers crossed
Hi MrsH, this lazy Susan is actually from Winterstromart. Jessica Winstrom when she was here in Asheville for the fluid art experience, gave it to me when she left, so you can check with Jessica at WinstromArt to purchase one for yourself.
You are so generous with your tips. I'm brand new to pouring and have a bare wood circular tray available. When you say you varnish the item, what type of varnish do you use? I'm sure I need to seal this tray first with something before pouring, right?

It works much better.
Hi Ozwald, 😘hope all is going well with you. In this one, most of the paints are metallics and actually I did one today that was all metallic except for the black. The metallics play well together for sure. I hope all is well for you as we near the holidays and take care😊
@louise McKay Art I found 12 1/2 glass Lazy Susan’s with Nutcrackers on them for $8 at Dollar General. I used some nail polish remover and the nutcrackers came off. Any advice or thoughts on pouring on glass? Also, I found them in the Christmas in the middle of the stores. It was a fluke to discover because it seems mist store only got 1 or 2. I was able to get 4.
Hi Miss C 😘I don’t think I’ve ever been to a Dollar General. I don’t even know where there is one. I’ll look around. Sounds like an interesting opportunity. I have caught on glass a long time ago and found no difference. Obviously you have to be very careful since it is more fragile than a canvas or wood.
Hi Boston butter, 😘these are definitely functional as a Lazy Susan. These are not intended to be used as cutting boards and you wouldn’t want to cut on them anyway because it’s resin and it would get ruined. That’s why I also made cutting boards have a partial decorative area with fluid art that is resined and also a wood portion that is unencumbered.
A little off topic, but when you buy your ppg multi pro, do you have them shake it? Same question for your PM Valspar. I'm thinking no to avoid bubbles.
NOOOOO, never shake it!!!!! Never shake anything, gently stir. And actually, once I have my pillow paint, decanted, I don’t ever stir it again, I use it up before I need to reconstitute. The less stirring or mixing the better. And certainly never ever ever ever ever shake. You will never get the bubble out of the pillow.
