I saw a video from A Coastal Magnolia where she said that you inspired her. And I can see why. Thank you for all your instruction. I’m trying your recipes this weekend ❤
So much Great information obviously I need to go deeper into depth about so many things about these processes …I’ve learned art is ever evolving coming from a watercolorist portrait art background to all of the various textures movement and thicknesses in these ….my attraction being they were on a small …personal more organized application …quicker and so organic in the end results …love love love
Thank you so much, 😘Isabella, I haven’t tried water colors yet so that’s intriguing. Yeah I started with this a little, almost 4 years ago now and have learned a lot from watching others and from just self exploration.🧡🧡🧡
@ lol as humans as well as artists we are ever evolving ever exploring keeps the brain young ….makes life doable especially in these past four years…I’ve learned much about self sufficiency growing foods exchanges for healthy things that go on and in our body …my art has gone to the wayside other than art cakes I make for our large family …and gradually exploring once more baby steps like your channel that I have gravitated to to …opening new vistas more joys in the creative process…NEVER STOP LEARNING! Thanking you for the renewed joys in the creative process..❤️
@ for real, I’ve learned so much about myself in these last 3 1/2 years playing with paint and listening to what the paint is telling me, sometimes it yells at me sometimes it lasts sometimes it cooperates in all the while I’m discovering I actually do have patience and and learned to let things be free to do what it’s going to do as you know, as well as I paint has a mind of its own. I hope I’m not coming off sounding to lunatic, but I really do feel this way, paint is not an Inanimate object, and the sooner one realizes this the sooner you get a working relationship with it🤪😂😂
Hi Louise...wanted to thank you for all your great information and encouragement. I'm thankful that you show your wonderful work as well as your creative challenges so that we may learn. After a couple coaster tiles, I was able to make it work especially how you blow out your blooms. I did have trouble with my cell activator...same issue that another commentor noted. Could not get the cell activator to work. Ended up adding 6 drops of silicone and it worked. I don't want to have to use the silicone so I rewatched your cell activator video and am going to adjust the floetrol amount to slightly more just to see if that has any impact. Love your functional art. Not everyone can afford or want things hanging on the wall. But they are willing to buy useful art objects. Keep your videos coming. Thanks again!
@@cindymegrey2243 thanks so much 😘🧡Cindy I’m so glad these are helpful! Play with the CA mostly with consistency, pillow 4 sec trace, colors 2-3 sec, ca no real trace but not super thin. I hope this helps and best wishes 😘
Thank you for being here and you’re welcome. Just a word of note in the video I’m showing I’m using Glidden with Minwax my recipe. I’ve currently been using the last year is Valspar 833124 with the Minwax semi gloss at a rate of 3 parts Valspar : 1 part Minwax. Both work, so they are alternative recipes 🧡
Just a quick note, That did the trick, I thickened all my paints up and thinned, not to thin, the CA and ta da, I have cells with both Floetrols. I can't thank you enough. You are a gem. I also weighed everything with consistency of paint as the priority as you instructed and now all I need to worry about are colors and composition and finding a volunteer who enjoys cleaning up paint messes.
Well, good for you! Yayyyyy! 🎉🥳The littlest things save the day! Consistency is so important with bloom and think about it, the pillow is really there just as the means to spread out the composition when you blow, and to hold up the composition when it spreads out. You want it thicker so the paints don’t sink down into it and disappear. So the pillow is thick to hold it up, the colors. Color comes next, thin enough to float on top of the pillow. The cell activator is the thinnest, so when it spreads and sinks down (because it’s so thin and a lot bc of denser paint esp in the Titanium White), and the colors come through underneath, it all holds up on top of the pillow. It all kind of makes sense. And sorry I have enough trouble cleaning up my own messes lol. Also, please share your experience, I would really appreciate that as I’m trying to grow my channel a little bit each day! It’s so nice to wake up to your success experience!!
So informative! I love all your tips and tricks and sharing your knowledge. Haven’t tried anything yet but I’m learning. Thank you for all your videos…so helpful.💜
Thank you, 😘JC and welcome! I always share tips in every video to make them tutorials to make it worth your time spent. I appreciate you being here and your support.
Hi Louise. I got the correct ingredients for the cell activator so I should be good to go for that. Next….to make the PM, I used the same paint as my pillow paint with the minwax. When mixed with colour I got a light washed out colour. Is this because of the wrong paint? Should have used an untinted base paint? Trying to get all components right before I try a bloom. Thanks for your patience.
Hi Bonnie, no pillow paint for pm. Base C or 3 for pm mixture. This video 140 tells you what to use and I cover this in great detail in this most recent video that might help explain more. I’m going to link for you to watch. Please watch this. It will explain everything much better than me trying to write it down here.ruclips.net/video/OFrEiPx9qoQ/видео.htmlsi=tTZfpKSiPgeATvqh
Hi Louise, Thank you so much for your videos. I keep watching them over and over again. I would love to try this but I am so afraid I won't be able to get it to turn out. I am having trouble finding the paints you use.
Hi Sue😘, I hear you. Before I say what I’m gonna say, where are you that you can’t find the paints? Ok, so lemme ask, how are you doing so far???? I done want to sound mean… but if you haven’t tried yet, then nothing has turned out yet either! Think of the process and paints as someone you’ve wanted to get to know that you haven’t had the wherewithal to talk to. So, you’re in the same room and someone introduces you and you start having a conversation. THAT is the paint! Just go up and start talking! The paint won’t talk back in a conventional way, but you’ll start to learn about them, how they work, who they like to hang next to, what motivates them into action! You can watch videos for the next year, but until you try, you’re not learning from practice. Practice is key, every pour is a learning experience and no one needs to know about the ones that, eh hum… maybe aren’t the best, but you have to start! I’ve had days that are, geez, what a mess, and some are so easy! But you don’t know until you do!!! I hope this helps and go out and introduce yourself to the paint in that room!😃
@@LouiseMcKayArt I live in Michigan, but I kept looking at Lowes, Menards and Walmart. I bought some at Walmart, but not the right paint. So Home depot is about 40 minutes from me and I drove there this morning. I so want to make the ornaments. I figure I can peel it off if I don't like it, right? whew, I still need to track down Golden paint, so that may be a trip to Michaels or Hobby Lobby to see if they carry it. I will keep you posted. thank you for teaching us.
@ Michaels has some Golden and DecoArt, but you need to look up Jerry’s Artarama as they have every kind of paint that you would probably want. They are online and ship. Hobby lobby does not have any Golden. You can definitely pour over or you can peel it. But I would strongly suggest that you start with a tile and a coaster first. The ornament is pretty tricky. The Bloom technique is tricky to start with then to scoop it up and transfer it to an ornament that’s not flat is another tricky step. I would definitely try on aid I was just starting.
Thank you so much for doing this. It's so overwhelming with so many different videos and tutorials. I've been doing this for a couple of years and I've always had problems. Fingers crossed I can finally get it correct. Thank you so much.😅
This tutorial is very nice as I have been wanting to try the bloom for a while now. I did try it once and wasn’t very successful. But with this help, hopefully I can use up all those ornaments I bought a few years ago 🤣🤣🤣🤣thanks for sharing
Just waiting for the right opportunity Laura. Getting that bloom down is the first step, then the scoop and transfer! So much fun, but takes a little practice to get ‘er done!💙
This recipe is perfectly fine, but I do want to let you know what I’m currently using is Valspar 833124 with Minwax gloss varnish the ratio is 3 parts Valspar: 1 part Minwax. But let me to tell you the glidden, perfectly fine, too, that I call out in the video, what’s most important is your consistencies. What were you using for your pm recipe?
Thank you! So glad you made this video. I’m having a bit of an issue finding the Minwax pre-stain. You do beautiful art and I really enjoy your videos.
So do I, just one evening I said to myself to play around and this is what’s working for me. I hope this works for you too, like I say in the video, all 3 parts need to be working together!
Thank you for this video (and all your videos). I followed your recipe and had great results with one exception. My paint colors were incredibly muted. For example, red was pink. It did not seem to matter how much extra paint I added. I am new to this and was using Artist Loft paints (with the exception of my CA). Do certain brands of paints work better on this technique? Thank you!
Thank you, Emily. It is your pouring medium that you’re using for your paint mixture. You must use a paint that is either a base C or base 3 paint which means it does not contain any color in it. What I use is Valspar 833124 which is a base C paint. Check out what paint you’re using in your PM because if it is not a base 3 or base C your colors will turn pastel
Louise, I went back and watched this video AGAIN (probably for the 9th time) bc all of a sudden, none of my Blooms have been turning out right. I’ve ALWAYS used the Behr 8300 with Minwax 2:1 BUT the Behr is soo thick, I honestly think that’s what the issue is. There’s a Lowe’s not even 500yds from my house so fingers 🤞🏼 crossed that the Glidden and your recipe will be the fix all I’ve desperately been searching for! Thank you so much for going into such detail in this video!! 🤗💕
@@LouiseMcKayArt Haha…I meant to say Valspar.. not Glidden. 🤦🏼♀️ Maybe if I could get my paint brands correct, all my Bloom issues would be resolved. lol!😂
Hi Louise , went shopping at home depot .😁I hope I got the right thing cause you did not show the actuel gallon . I got Glidden Premium white base interieur paint + primer . 42$ This is for Pouring MIX and BEHR I100 PRO eggshell white base for the pillow . 26 $ good deal . I'm I getting this right ? Why you need 2 different paint for PM and Pillow ? I guess it must be cause of the consistancy ........Also would like to know if I wanted a Black pillow would I just add black to The BEHR. eggshell ? some people take also the BEHR premium High gloss enamel What is the difference ? I understand pillow mean what you cover the entire canvas when you are starting out ? what about what you put around the edge to make it flow is this the same ??? Thank you so much🙏for giving us your secrets , so much apreciated ! 💐💐💐 I cancelled my AUD Floetrol ,way too expensive 67 CAD for litre crasy 🤣
Hello foto, i’m assuming you are referring to video 140 for the pouring medium. I do cover in the video what paints to use and I also have it in the description. This is what I have in the description. My Current Pillow I use is PPG Multi-Pro 47-3110 Interior Eggshell My Current PM I use Glidden GLN6413N with MinWax clear gloss varnish 3:1 ratio So you do not want the glidden premium with primer. The questions that you’re asking require a lot of explanation. But you do need a different pillow paint from the pouring medium. The pouring medium paint has to be a base C , which means there is no ‘color’ from the manufacturer added to it. So it’s the combination of the base three Glidden with Minwax plus your colors that make the paint color. The pillow is the means that carries the paint color and cell activator into the composition. That is quite different from the pouring medium paint that is used to make your colors. Maybe watch a few videos using the Bloom technique to help you understand a little more and give you more insight.
@@LouiseMcKayArt So sorry did not mean to make it so complicated, it is because in the store there is SO many different gallons ,and the codes are not the same as USA ,could not find exaclty the same codes has you mentioned , even when I check US Home depot ! cannot find 6413 code but I ll check with the store tomorrow . now if I understand my glidden premier is not good cause it has paint +primer..... need to exchange just for paint semi-gloss ok ? Thanks again🙏.Jeannie 🇨🇦
Well, I have tried everything to get some cells, even bought the Australian Floetrol and still nothing. I now think maybe I have an issue with the thickness of my paints and your video could not be more timely. I have switched to distilled water and have tried both types of CA, U.S. Floetrol, Aus. Floetrol, I mean I have really tried. I am going to use a scale and grit my teeth, one more time, and mix using your recipes. Thanks for your direct, informative approach and putting this much needed information out there. You are very interesting to watch and I love your no nonsense approach. I shall let you know how it comes out.
Wow Janice, I’m really surprised that even with Australian Floetrol , you don’t get cells. Remember your cell activator should be fairly thin compared to your paints, compared to your pillow. Your pillow should be thickest with about a four second trace when you pour the paint off the deck. Your paints should have about a 2 to 3 second trace poured off the stick, and the cell activator much should pour straight back into the container with no trace. I hope my recipes help check out my pouring medium recipe too. Many people have said it helped them so hopefully it will work for you too. I mean, do you get cells then they disappear or you just don’t get them at all?
I get very few cells, and they are tiny and yes disappear. I am wondering whether these deco art paints, and folk art as well as americana paints might have something to with it as well. I was trying to save a little while just getting started before sinking a bunch into the tube paints of better companies. For cell activators I am using the recommended Amsterdam Oxide Black and Titanium Whites. This last round with the aussie floetrol I got hardly no cells and truly am stumped. @@LouiseMcKayArt
Looking for the right kind of Glidden or Valspar paint for your pouring medium, for example, on the Lowe’s website, there is a gloss enamel and a paint plus primer with that same number 833124, which is it? same question for Glidden and is that available at Walmart? I couldn’t find any links for these products in your description. The same question for the PPG interior eggshell paint for the pillow, is that an enamel or paint plus primer ?- I believe I have a local supplier of that brand. Thx!
Hi James, Glidden is at Home Depot, Valspar is at Lowe’s. The Valspar 833124 does say interior and exterior high glass paint and primer. I’ve given the exact numbers for the paint that you need. I don’t know what’s available at Walmart. The numbers is all you need. If you go to the stores, you’ll find it. I don’t know how they have things sorted on their websites.
@@lianneduerink (since this video from 2 yrs ago I’ve switched to the semi-gloss min wax-I write that in the description ) you can use JoSonja gloss varnish for sure or probably a varnish you can get in Holland.
This is a great video, thank you. If you just keep adding paint to the same container, doesn't it get all clumpy and dry in spots on the sides of the container?
Hi Bkochinke, 🧡the multipro 47-3110 is not a base c, it’s an eggshell sheen and it says white and pastel base. You certainly could add color to it if you wanted to change your pillow color a lot of people get color to go from Sherwin-Williams is there pillow. I hope this helps.
Hi Louise! I absolutely love your work! Thank you for posting so many videos and helping people like me learn! I have some paints that I mixed up in April. Do you think they are still good or should I throw them out and start with fresh?
Thank you so much, Wayne😘 Paints Can last a long time, just depends on how well they were sealed and the consistency now. If they kick in or try to reconstitute them with a little more paint pouring medium are you in some water. But depends also, on what your recipe is that you’re using. Short answer is yes if it’s Consistency is good.
Hi Louise! Ive got my paint stirrer in the Glidden, about to mix up some PM, but I see that you use a different HP for your pillow, is it okay to use the same one for both the pillow and the PM (obviously mixed with different other ingredients for each use)? I have Amsterdam white and black, as well as a boat load of other acrylic paints and gesso’s and liquitex mediums. I’m less confused than yesterday so I’m grateful 🤗
Hi Maria, I’ve actually used the Glidden 6413N only for pouring medium however I don’t see why you can’t use it as a pillow, but you probably need to decanted and let it thicken up a little bit.
@@LouiseMcKayArtoh you know what!!! It just occurred to me that it’s not got any color! It’s just the medium (in the Glidden)…. Can I use Amsterdam for the pillow? Or gesso, or other white acrylic paint?
Hi Dana, I don’t have the van anymore so I can’t show it, but it’s Glidden GLN6413N Ultra Deep Base semi gloss I think in a red can at Home Depot. I definitely got it at Home Depot
@@karenavery3672 hi Karen, whether it’s right or wrong I’ve always gone by weight, so I think going by volume will work, you just have to find the right combination that works for you. No matter what, you want to have the right consistencies, when mixed with your paints, you want a two or three second trace pouring off the stick.
Louise I'm looking for a new foreign medium on this video you're using Glidden and in the description says you switched to Valspar with the man wax at three to one ratio. My question is since they don't carry in where I'm at anyway the 84 bear or the 8300 at Home Depot may I ask if you're still using me Valspar with the Minwax for your pouring medium? Please and thank you. 😊
NOOOOOOOOOO you cannot use the multi pro for your PM mixture. It is a different paint with different characteristics and it will make your colors turn pastel. I’ve had so many people recently think they could substitute the pillow paint for the pouring medium, these are two completely different paints. I even cover it in the most recent video. I just put out that you probably should watch because I explain it all here within this video: ruclips.net/video/OFrEiPx9qoQ/видео.htmlsi=sZ7wctBbCUYU8lGr
@ hi Jane, can you please tell me where you got the idea that you can use your pillow paint for the pouring medium? Many people just recently are thinking the same thing and I’m just wondering where that idea from? Please let me know!!
@@LouiseMcKayArt I asked the employee at the paint counter to help locate the paints. He wasn't sure about the number GLN6413N. They may have been out of stock for that particular one because yesterday when I went back there was only one can on the shelf of that number. That's why I was asking about the pillow paint for the pouring medium. Now I have the pillow paint PPG Multi-Pro47-3110 and the PM GLN6413N. I purchased the Polycrylic clear gloss also. I already had the Polycrylic Matte. Can the Polycrylic Matte be used in any of the recipes?
@ i’ve never used the matte for the pouring medium in the simple reason is you want your pains to mix with something that is bright and glossy. The mat would make it certainly less glossy, although it probably would work. It may have an impact on how the cells work. But like I say with everything if you don’t know, give it a try make a small batch and check it out. Always be curious, ask questions like you’re doing and seek answers and never worry about something that doesn’t come out right because it’s all learning sometimes there’s happy accidents.😊
Hi Louise, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've mixed the PM to your specifications and used it to mix the paints but the colors are not vibrant at all. No matter what brand I use, they turned out very pale. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong
Nicie, if your colors are turning out pale, you must be using a pouring medium that’s not right for this. Please look at your paint can and tell me what the number is on it and what brand. You should be using either Glidden 6413N or Valspar 833124, those 2 have been in my specifications. If you are using anything else or something that doesn’t say base C or base 3 on the can it won’t work
@@LouiseMcKayArt hi Louise, yes it turns out that I was using the wrong paint. The Home Depot rep didn't want to sell me the Glidden GLN6013N because she sais it had to be tinted. I asked her to tint it white and she said that they already sold a white that was the same thing (GLN6011N) but obviously it is NOT the same thing. Thank you so much for your help!!!!
@ thanks Nicie, it’s 6413N that you’d need. I’m gonna be covering this exact thing in today’s video that will come out in about an hour. I’m gonna talk about paint, the pouring medium paint and why you have to have a certain kind and which kind to have and also talking about the cell activator and how You cannot make substitutions and think it’s gonna work properly. So stay tuned for that. What I do when I go to either Home Depot or Lowe’s for my pouring medium paint as I just pick up my paint and go to the counter to check out and pay I don’t bother anybody at the paint department.
@ you’re welcome and it’s 6413N for the pouring medium. I’m gonna be talking about this exact thing in today’s video that’s going to come out in an hour about making sure you get the right paint and why that pouring medium paint has to be a certain type of paint so that your colors will hold up once you mix them. I also talk about the cell activator and how you really can’t make substitutions and expect it to work. So stay tuned for that video. When I go to Lowe’s or Home Depot to purchase my pouring medium paint, I don’t even take it to the paint counter I go right to the checkout stand.
@@LouiseMcKayArt Once again, thank you so much!!! Just so that I'm clear the Glidden 6413N supposedly doesn't have a "color" per Home Depot clerk. Is that fine? If you can cover this in your video, that would be great!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for a very "new newbie"!

Basically, yes, but you want to get the right kind of paint as not everything‘s gonna work. you want to get a base one eggshell or satin sheen, multi pro PPG 47-3110 works, Glidden, 6011N works and there’s a Valspar 2000 that works as well but I don’t know the exact number on it.
@@heatherandprettysgreytadve6199 the simple answer is no, if you used the pillow as your pouring medium paint, all of your paints would become pastel because of the titanium white in the pillow paint.
I’m sorry to keep bugging you Louise. You say to get the Glidden paint but I don’t have access to it. Our local Home Hardware has their brand of paint. They have a Signature clear base # 73-03. They tell me the 3 in -03 means it is a base 3 paint. Will it work or do I have to drive the 100 miles to get the Glidden? Thanks..AGAIN!
Hi Bonnie, honestly, I don’t know if that signature clear will work. I have never tried it so I cannot vouch for it. Do you know what sheen it is? You do want to find a base three or base sea paint that is a gloss sheen. I’d say give it a shot. Get a small amount and see what happens.
@@bonnierobbins3818 I think if it’s a base C or three, semigloss is pretty close to gloss you might be good. I think the reason why glass is used is to get a lot more of a glossy finish, however, for me anyway I always resin everything so it really doesn’t matter on the sheen. If you plan on resining it may be perfectly fine.
Hey Louise….determination paid off. I finally got the exact ingredients for the cell activator and the pouring medium. The Signature brand paint worked well, as it is a base 3. My cells aren’t as awesome as yours but it’s a definite start. Thanks again for your patience.
@@bonnierobbins3818 i’m glad your persistence is paid off. Sometimes the cells take a little work to get it right but practice does help improve things!😊
Oh my goodness, what a great day it was when I came across an artist that mentioned you in her video. In a week I think I have watched all of your videos at least twice. My son got GLFIN60B1/01 it’s a white pastel base instead of the Premium. Will the fundamentals suffice to use with either the PM or the Pillow. Luckily he only got a quart. What are your thoughts?
Thank you so much 😘Sandy for being here and who referred you?? 😉Honestly, I don’t know what the GLF is so I don’t know. Just know that for the pillow you can use many varieties, but a satin sheen is probably best, PM you need a base 3 or C gloss do you can add your own colors.
Louise, I finally went out and bought all the products you listed to get started, but I have one question....is the Minwax polycrylic supposed to be gloss or semi gloss? This video says gloss as does the video from Nov 12...but two months ago you listed using minwax semi gloss. Does it matter? I bought a small can of the Glidden 6413 semigloss base c to start out with and bought the gloss minwax based on this video. Appreciate any help. Also, I enjoy your videos immensely and love your techniques above anyone else I watch on youtube. Thank you for all you do!
Hi Jane, great question and I’m sorry for the confusion. Over a year and a half ago I was using the 6413 Glidden with the gloss men wax. It was over the summer this summer that I started to notice a difference in the way the gloss was performing, and my cells were starting to break up a little bit, so I switched over to semi gloss. Currently, I’m using Valspar 833124 with Minwax semi gloss. However, the Glidden 6413 with gloss min wax should work fine, I’ve just started getting real particular about the cell structure and that’s why I switched. I don’t think it’s a dealbreaker though for you it wasn’t a dealbreaker for me until this summer. I think probably when it was getting too warm. I hope that helps. Don’t stress out over having gloss. Go ahead and use it you’ll be fine, but watch yourselves see what happens. It’s getting cooler now so they’re probably fine.
@LouiseMcKayArt Thanks for replying....that explains it well. I can take it back and switch to the semi gloss...or get the josonya...not a big deal. I did see another RUclipsr that is using the Valspar Ultra, Behr Dynasty and GAC 100....she said she was getting away from varnishes because of cells sinking....But being new, I don't think I would notice myself. Thanks again!

@@deenaminyard3788 oh my yes. And the Bloom technique you have the pillow, which is the first paint down. I often use multi pro 47-3110 or Glidden 6011N. Then on top of that is your cell activator last color down And I have a video 141 if you wanna see how I make it. Hi, love your art, but ive tried to get cells, i even got the pre stain conditioner and mixed it like in your video and still didnt get cells like you, what could be wrong
Sorry to hear that and there could be a lot wrong but without knowing your pillow, pouring medium recipe, how you mixed your paints, the consistencies of all of them…. I wouldn’t know. Did you get any cells? I’d need to know much more to diagnose
@LouiseMcKayArt i got a few small cells, im trying to get those big cells, 3 t flow about 1/2-1 t paint, its arteza acrylic, put a tiny bit of water and 20 tiny drops pre stain conditioner.
@@Chrismckinzie9630 the recipe is in grams not tsp 10g Floetrol, 5g paint, 5g water, 20 drops prestain is the start point. After that adjust for consistency with the water. You only need to put a tiny bit down of CA and the blowout has to push the CA over the paint. If you put too much down, you’re just gonna get a bunch of cA paint and it won’t spread right. Based on how you described your recipe, I think it’s probably too thick and it’s not spreading right and the colors underneath aren’t able to pop through. If you’re only use a ‘tiny bit’ of water, add more, follow the recipe in grams as a starting point until you get used to it. Water is your friend!

Thank you so much, 😘Isabella, I haven’t tried water colors yet so that’s intriguing. Yeah I started with this a little, almost 4 years ago now and have learned a lot from watching others and from just self exploration.🧡🧡🧡

Thank you, Cat, 😘well, I talk about Glidden, I currently in for the last year have been using the Valspar A3 3124 with the Minwax FYI🧡
Will do!@@LouiseMcKayArt

Awesome, thank you!💕
Thank you for this video (and all your videos).
@@LouiseMcKayArt Thank you! You are awesome!

My Current Pillow I use is PPG Multi-Pro 47-3110 Interior Eggshell
My Current PM I use Glidden GLN6413N with MinWax clear gloss varnish 3:1 ratio
So you do not want the glidden premium with primer.

Hi Laura, oil based, red can😘
Hi Louise! I absolutely love your work! Thank you for posting so many videos and helping people like me learn! I have some paints that I mixed up in April. Do you think they are still good or should I throw them out and start with fresh?

@@LouiseMcKayArt I asked the employee at the paint counter to help locate the paints. He wasn't sure about the number GLN6413N.

Nicie, if your colors are turning out pale, you must be using a pouring medium that’s not right for this. Please look at your paint can and tell me what the number is on it and what brand. You should be using either Glidden 6413N or Valspar 833124, those 2 have been in my specifications.
@@jane112wedge good luck, you’ll find what works best for you because everybody has their own solution for where they live, what they can get easily and what they feel comfortable with.
So, Pillow Paint is different than cell activator?
@@deenaminyard3788 oh my yes. And the Bloom technique you have the pillow, which is the first paint down. I often use multi pro 47-3110 or Glidden 6011N. Then you have your medium that you mix with your paints. I have a pouring medium video 140. Then on top of that is your cell activator last color down And I have a video 141 if you wanna see how I make it. The Bloom Tech is very involved because there are three parts to it and it’s a little bit technical because you have to have all of your consistencies of your paints correct. I hope this helps.🧡
@LouiseMcKayArt thank you so much, i think its my flow medium creating a film, and its not allowing the air bubbles to pop even when i use a heat gun, im not using floetrol its an acrylic pour medium, i didnt have this problem with floetrol
@@Chrismckinzie9630 oh I thought you said your using 3 t Floetrol?? Yes, you do not want to use pouring medium in the cell activator recipe. Follow the recipe and I think you’ll get results! We’re talking bloom technique and recipe, correct?
Why do you let the pillow paint set out open overnight? Is it to thicken it?
Exactly, I look for a 4-5 second trace in the tin when it’s drizzled off the stick. My video 140 covers consistencies of PM, paints and pillow.
Thank you so much for all your tips, Louise. I'm on holiday at the moment - can't wait to get home to try again using your advice!,
@@lornapayne2805 great, well it works for me and all 3 parts work together. I’m glad you’re giving it a shot, good luck!🍀
2 attempts far very minimal cells. I didn’t have any access to any Amsterdam tube paint. That’s the only difference to your recipe. Off to the city this weekend to find Amsterdam. The color paints I have arteza I’m hoping these will work because I can’t really justified buying new paint when I have so much of it. It truly is not as easy as it looks 😂
@@SandyWilliams-q3g thank you 😘Susan, the Amsterdam will make a big difference for you. Do you want to get opaque colors titanium white or oxide black or any other opaque work. Best wishes.🧡
If at first you don’t succeed, then try try again 😂
@@SandyWilliams-q3g I live by that!!
