- Vic's Peace Jam and more. 4K (sort of) Version here: • Victor Wooten Incredib... . From the same gig: • Video . This is bass playing at a whole new level. I see parts of this solo in other videos, so he's re-using some material, but that aside...breathtaking.

I've seen victor live 3 times (a 4th next month) and it just never gets old. I even got to take a short class from him during a summer program at Berklee a while back, such an awesome dude and literally the greatest alive
What I love about Victor is that he doesn’t just have insane technical talent, he’s got soul.
So many musicians feel like they’re just showing off. They go fast and complex, and it’s impressive, but it lacks soul.
Victor can outplay them all, but he keeps the soul alive while doing it.
Pretty sure he does have insane technical talent what the fuck lol you're tripping
@@nickkolesnik5054 Re-read my comment. You definitely aren’t understanding it.
@@nickkolesnik5054 read things before insulting people
@@nickkolesnik5054 yeah bro learn to read
Total package. Heart and soul.
Holy shit. There's "taking it to another level" and then there's "creating the level, then taking it to that level". Victor creates the levels, then he goes where no bassist has ever gone before.
Not just that, its how humble he is with it too
victor wooten is like what you get when you max out all your stats in a video game
Max dual handded
Max dexterity
Max groove
Max agility
Max timing
No points left for hair
Bruh you did him dirty😂
Except that you can max out on a game, and still be tone-deaf. I hope you aren’t comparing this to diddling a paddle and fingering buttons in Guitar Hero. If you don’t stop that, you may go blind.
Victor has 99 skill
But Jaco has 100 skill
Fax
The fact that this is early 2000s and almost 20yrs later hes still growing as a player is just....man
🙌🏾
He studies the most he deserves the most.. as he said in an interview, anyone human being can do this. don’t expect results without practice fellow bass players.
Or ANY musician OR fine artist. I'm a drummer, wannabe bassist and an abstract painter. I practice my skills in painting, learn new techniques, etc. Same with drums.
Humility is a thing. He's one of the best out there and yet he's still a fan of other artists. That's how you stay in a place where you can continue to grow.
His phrasing is so great. It’s like the man is weaving time with his playing.
What you gotta love about Victa is that he listens so intently. See how he lays down a loop and then responds appropriately. He fits himself in with the music the same way you would in a conversation
He really is the greatest of all time. Incredible.
The only thing I love more than Victor Wootens musical talent is his attitude about music. All musicians should follow his example, no matter the instrument or genre they’re into.
My holy Jesus what did I just watch!? Thank God I'm a guitar player..you bassist have some competition.
as we all know there are no good guitarists out there
Music ain't a competition my guy, but if it was... this dude would absolutely win. He seems so nice as well.
He is not competition, he is the example of what we can be as bass players, and that is what he teaches his students.
I’m a drummer and the only musician i’m competitive with is myself.
As much as I love Bryan beller.. I wana see guthrie govan play some with vic wooten..
The world is a more beautiful place with people like Victor in it. Seemingly effortless transition between vastly different moods, styles and ... just leaves one speechless.
He's definitely not a one trick pony! It appears he's never content to stay in one place but is constantly reinventing his art! And in so doing is reinventing music. A true genius!!!
I love his phrasing and, even more his dynamics. Such a nice guy as well. When he mentions the drummers attending, he was excited. I love playing w new people.
11:47 I seriously believe his mind started to split. Recognized where the down beat was without the percussion and somehow was able to trill and have fun without aid. Dude started ascending here... absolute talent
This man is too enlightened for this world and his skills alone are otherworldly.
He is the Bob Ross of Bass
You mean Bob Ross is the Victor Wooten of painting
No mistakes just happy accidents 👍
How could anyone give this a thumbs down?? This is one of the best bass players of all time! And let me also add he has and amazing attitude like my favorite guitar player. Steve Vai. Great job mr. Wooten!!
Man . Victor is MUSIC . Just got my first bass about a month ago and been reading his book too. Playing has opened me up to a world I thought I was never a part of.
Love the way he lets time and melody breathe
Music has always been a big part of my life. I remember how, when growing up I would hear certain songs and time would stand still and to this day I have memories frozen in time with a song or and album as the soundtrack to anchor them.
For many years as a guitar and bass player I've been going through the motions, there was some feeling in what I was playing but it was never the same as those frozen moments in time.
This!!!! This, has just changed everything!!! Will I ever replicate this?? Very very unlikely but, for 19 and a half minutes I was removed from the world and existence was suspended. All that mattered was the connection between me and the music/musician.
That is how it should be. That is what I've been looking for all these years. Thank you for posting this, you've made my day.
I watched this 16 years ago & it's still great. Thanks for uploading it.
I feel like Zappa would have loved to have him in his band. Also, that second portion, goddamn that's funky!
yes!
As a upcoming bassist i appreciate the uploads of great bassists like Victor W. bring it on!
This the greatist 4 string bassist on planet earth. Hope you all know that talent. All 4 Wooten brothers that are left. Rudy passed. They are all amazing. I could watch Victor all day long. Such a prodigy that we will probably never see again in our lifetime. He needs no band. .He is it.
Geniuses like Victor.. change the way you see the instrument.... they have what it take to reshape the landscape.. they're the Giants the next generation will stand on..
I couldn't agree more. I'm returning to playing bass after many years off, I'm enjoying discovering all these talented artists and how accessible they are on the Internet and then I find this... it's almost as if he's never seen a bass being played before and made up his own version (if you see what I mean?). His own version which just happens to be better than most of the rest of the planet lol.
When someone becomes what we call "virtuoso"... only THEN do we see what the instrument can deliver.
The master himself.
How can anyone not like this. Such an elegant and emotional performance. Amazing
The Best bassplayer in The world!
IMHO, there are as many "bests" on all instruments. Its not a competition& words critique, criticism. Just input. How can music be negative? There are so many jaw dropping bassists, its great. I'd lost some passion for music. Then I heard Pantera and Dime brought me back. Music has such ebb and flow
That's a bold statement
Joelzinho TV and there we go again! “The best”.... i wish people would stop making these stupid remarks.
@Adam Jacobs Yeah, LOL.... A nice anecdote from my side: I once owned a second hand Moon Bass that was in perfect condition, but it had a headstock ding, caused by CMB, during a demo. (Apparently according to the seller, it had been used at a demo somewhere on a music fair.) It was a long time ago since I owned that bass. I finally sold it. I still have regrets about selling it. The Moon bass I own now does not come close to the sound of the bass I used to own. Shame. But you can probably imagine that the ding caused by CMB does not make him my favorite huh? 🤣😉. That having said: I have a few favorite bassists I consider to be the World's best. Because they are / were not just very good players but because they were / are so called "originals". Jaco, of course, Percy Jones, Michael Manring, Chris Squire and Victor Wooten are among them.
@Adam Jacobs OK! He's your favorite at least. What criteria make that you are convinced that he's "the best"?
Been searching for years for the whole thing thanks for the upload
the song is called Ary's Eyes from Soul Circus
But is there more to it? Vic seems like he’s about to play more as it ends! I’d love to see what else happens, as if anything really could
His face while playing. So engaging. I have ADHD and prior to this video I was off the wall. This gave me peace for 19 minutes. Thanks, Victor.
God Bless. Went to school with you. You were amazing then and even better now.
gracias por subir este video completo esta genial!!!
Beautiful. We’re lucky this master shares this unearthly stuff with us. Inspirational and moving.
I didn't even know a bass could be played like THAT! Hell, I didn't even imagine!
It can't. But when you are Victor Wooten the bass unlocks extra skills.
Not to mention this was 20-some-odd years ago.
Stunning musical language on my soul. Thank you for leading me to music. Tyler Lord Hamilton
My favorite melodic drummer. Saw VWT Granada in Dallas last year. Life changing.
Wow! This kind of bass playing takes years to do!
searching this solo for years.... thank you...
Thanks for uploading this video complete this great !!!
You deserve the heaven for upload this video bro! Thnaks
Oh my goodness! How have I missed this all these years? Thank you..Thank you..Thank you... I remember Victor playing his Drumitar with Bela at a show in San Diego Years ago.
Fabulous - touched me as only great music played by a master can....
usually “solo” videos are like 3-5 minutes. this one is 20 😂. thanks victor!
incredibly humble man. and that's why everybody love him. and his bass ability is great also.
His talent and soul is unmatched. It takes both. I could listen to him all day. What a soloist
Victor's heart and soul based approach really shines. Soul is the inspiration and source of all exceptional music. He is incorporating melody, harmony, and rhythm simultaneously. Simply amazing.
Nurturing God's Blessings is what we called TALENT...
What a treat! So much fun and character in his playing ;)
I can watch this all day without having any food... This is so cool... 👍👍👍
1st time saw him was the jam with Steve Bailey...
Both were Incredibly fantastic
Bangkeeee... JAGO BANGEETTTT!!! Vic is God👍👍👍. Thanks for upload
He is the living legend of Bass Guitar...Amazing hands...and wonderful rythm sense...
oh man I saw victor wooten at Ronnie Scott's in London lately. he's such an awsome person
Beyond amazing -
So many gold nuggets of life lessons in that speech.
Thank you sir - for all you do for humanity and music
Good lord...bad bad dude. A lot of people can play really fast. But to do it with crazy musicality is something else.
victor wooten i love your works so much from my heart you deserve number one world best bassguiterist not just bass player but musician
Incredible soul & an incredible composer...
I got to see the Wooten brothers play a small club in Nashville around 2003-2004... Man. I was left speechless
I forgot to add the part where I was suppose to say .. I like to boogie
Listening to this guy always brings a smile to my face.
The word incredible doesn't even give this performance justice. There is nothing like Victor Wooten. Never will be. You have just watched the greatest inventor of the the way an amazing jazz bass guitarist on planet earth should be if you have watched it all the way through. A little double effect there on stage here and there but holy wow. Cannot say that enough.
WOW!!! World Class!!!Hats off to you Mr Wooten :)
He is the living legend of Bass Guitar...Amazing hands...
In the realm of musicality, there is no one like Vic in this era. The last time somebody like this was on the planet his name was Amadeus. Jaco was innovative in many ways and his landings after cosmic effect penetrated harmonic infusions were legendary, but Vic is without a doubt on another level. I was fortunate enough to see him in a small bar in Tucson, Arizona in his absolute prime. It was after a U of A football game and I just walked in off the street. If you did not get to FEEL that power coming from him during the 5 to 6 years he was in that groove (before his injury set in) video does not do it justice. Your heart literally took a beating and you cried, literally cried because there was nothing else to do. Grown-ass men crying, looking at each other and shaking heads in disbelief. This is not an exaggeration. We just put our heads on each other's chests and shoulders and joined in the heavenly embrace of what we were witnessing. I'll never forget it for as long as I live and it is THE primary reason I came back to music after about a five-year walkway. Bless you, Vic. I hope all is well with you. You were the nicest man in the world when we met. Over the years I can see that has not changed.
@Adam Jacobs I have not heard of him, I'll be sure to check him out, thanks!
I hope he keeps on "slappin' dat bass" for a long time to come
That's damn impressive!
Surprising take and technique. Really nice
wow , this is something else , straight from the heart stuff , incredible ... keep going its kool stuff here ...
This man is truly a gift from heaven
Lo mas genial en cuatro cuerdas que puedas ver y oir a la vez. Musica en estado puro y absoluto.
Impresionante.que gusto tocando.que tecnica.posiblemente el mejor bajista del mundo
there's a million players now with 32nd note double thumb 4 finger muted diminished blah blah blah, none of them play music. victor plays music
It appears that I'm late in the game of finding this on youtube. So awesome! It's similar to the feeling I had first watching this on DVD, at about 3:46, when I realized he was live looping... a truly orgasmic a-ha moment in my life. Circa 2002
I have that DVD - this is lifted from it. All the other bass players on it suck compared to this, so I didn't bother posting.
Victor truly has the gift from God there's no other way to explain it
*O M G* that was *E P I C*
*SLAP LIKE N O W!*
Never be so unlucky as to go AFTER Victor Wooten on Bass Day! OMG!!!! Love that man!
Beautiful!!!
I liked the bit where he slapped the bass
with his finger
@@africanhistory I like the low notes
the first song played by him was amazing!
Beautiful 👏🏽
I would like 19 more minutes of this, please.
Ronaldinho of bass...
Absolutely Fantastic!!!!!!!
other level... otro nivel sin duda ... the best bassman in the world...!! i love victor wooten
He's definitely among the best, but he would probably be the first to tell you that he looks up to other bassists. I suspect that the actual top 20 skilled bassists on planet earth are people with names that you and I will never be aware of.
there are no bests. its not a contest
I love this guy!!!!
Brooooo, this dude Victor is like Woo!ten out of ten. Damn
Merry Christmas From The Cooper's Cleburne,Texas
What the hell was that! That was amazing!!
Mind blowing! He's the one... Wow!
God gives talents papa Victor am always humbled hear you play
I couldn't play like this if I had two extra pairs of hands.
Imagine if him and Tosin Abassi Made an album
This level of awesomeness would be enough to shred the space-time continuum, so there are actually laws of physics preventing them from doing so.
Add Steve Smith or Thomas Lang into that duo and the entire universe would collapse in on itself.
I don't understand the tosin abassi bandwagon. His shit is pretty unlistenable.
Aaron Clodfelter Give The Joy of Motion a proper listen and then come back me, my friend.
We are going to see Vic at jazzfest 2019 in Telluride C.o. for my birthday!!!
Hope its a great show :)
Get a pic with him!
Absolute genius
Mr wooten!...much love much respect.
Almost cried as he finished 😥😥😥
holy hell this is dope
Amazingly.
ok this is magic
Profoundly soul touching...
Priceless.....
