Personally I think he is the best electric bassist that has played the instrument. Certainly the most famous ambassador of the instrument. I mean you can throw in Jaco - Manring - King - and many others for different reasons ( singing lead vocals and playing simultaneously - songwriting using it etc . . ) but as far as a bass "technician" he is unmatched. And his simple "groove" ( making you want to move your head to the song ) is also unmatched.
I would agree that he has the best technical ability. But not that he’s the best. It’s too subjective. Plus I’d like to imagine that if Jaco didn’t ruin his life with drugs he would have become even better and truly been the greatest bassist of all time
@@ethanlocke3604 Why do you guys live in an "If world" here is an If for you. If I played bass 24/7 and never quit I might have been the best. If takes us everywhere yet nowhere.
I love listening to him. Thanks to him, I'm able ti get my groove on while enduring arthritis. ...and I have it bad. It affects my speed but I refuse to give up. Currently building on therr pockets. One day, I want to meet him. He has met my brother. 🎸💪😎

YES. People complaining about sound quality while it's totally the chair squeaking under his groove. I love this man. As a bass player, he brings so many emotions to me, which in turn, help me play (sort of) like him. Wonderful!

When he says like speaking he didn't know what he was going to play, it would have been cooler if he hadn't have relied on things he knows off by heart. You could argue he's just telling you his favourite stories but its not the same as coming up with something unique in the moment.
Depend on what you like, really. He can play a song that already exist but it will never sound the exact same, he'll always play it a little different. To me that's more than enough. But a lil improv session would have been nice too yeah.
he said he was doing something unplanned, like walking out the door and not knowing what you're going to think about all day. i dunno if it's other than him messing around. he's great w/ words like that, his whole family is. :)
Without looking at the video, I thought Denzel Washington was doing the intro. Everyone hereafter: [listens to Victor talk at the beginning without looking] Everyone Hereafter: Can confirm
Aaannnnddd just gonna turn you down a bit in the mix... cause of the coolness. Jk. I dunno if ide day bass is cooler than guitar. Certainly cooler than a key tar.
If you dont like the quality of this, you need better headphones my dude. This sounds like he's plugged directly into my head. Like its the same attack and quality of listening to the DI on my bass through a mixer.
Thanks for uploading! Nice video. Please don't mix daylight with this horrible yellow light. Slight difference ist OK, but here looks Vic like he had a jaundice!
Victor plays amazing but this sound quality even through my studio monitors is horrible. And no i'm not using Rokits. $5k pair of Adam's for you beats wearers just because Dre's name is on them (monster's) headphones lmbo
0:45 brooklyn
2:31 flip flop
5:10 u can't hold no groove
8:05 don't know but sounds great :P
10:04 my life
14:13 that's all
Nice
8:05 reminds me of Bob Marley's Redemption Song
Not many people could pull off a solo bass gig at a radio station......but Victor Wooten, YES he can!
Vic is a remarkable human being and one helluva bassist as well.
wrong;
he's not human
not me smiling with a grin so wide, i could have swallowed a banana sidesways..... This guy gives me joy everytime i watch him, 2005 till date!!!!

Mark king? Good bassist but I don’t think he’s in this company.
I'd definitely throw in Anthony Jackson in there. He's incredible!

Great Artist, Great Bassist, most important Great Groove!!!
Absolutely amazing, my favorite musician!
I hadn't heard Victor put vocal layers over his riffs before. MMM MMM! Next level. 7:00
These are not new tunes...I believe the one you're referring to is U Can't Hold No Groove from like 25 years ago
You're all doing more for humanity today to make a better tomorrow.
There's so much love in your playing... god bless ya...
Como siempre es un genio Víctor Wooten gracias por tú música.
Most people listening to this have no idea the nastiness of the funk that is taking place.
Master of masters
Great perfomance!
My Bass Role Model.................God bless ya Mahn
A show of hands!!!
My brother!! Always love the lyrics man!!
He surely got a higher level, really happy with it.
vic !!! You have hypnotized me. Monster bass
Pure joy 👍
Tremendo!
The best bassbrother!!!!!!1 :D
you can hear the chair bouncing up and down as he grooves
YES. People complaining about sound quality while it's totally the chair squeaking under his groove. I love this man. As a bass player, he brings so many emotions to me, which in turn, help me play (sort of) like him. Wonderful!
Nice !
If God by chance ever took a bass and decided to play it it would sound exactly like Victor Wooten I tell you
pure joy
Holy Toledo Vic! Up to seeing this video, Abraham Laborial was my number one bass guitar player. You are no longer #2! I am so inspired!
I still got Abraham over Vic
... what a great Man ...
Victor Wooten is VICTOR WOOTEN
This is the way I’d like to play bass.
Love how he lets the funk ooze out at 2:30.
Real music!
I always thought the lyrics were” I could be a critter I could be a cat” haha
Wooten the man....at least top 5
awesome...
He is the best
Music is a language, say what you want.
Víctor wooten is My fan at bass guitare, after Stanley Clark, Marcus Müller.
imazing
Tremendous!!!!!!!
victor is nothing short off amazing and that Linwood ave is beautiful...what I really want to know is where he got that shirt, i really like it
Where can i type on you tube?

The truss rod cover is missing off of his bass. I could talk about how awesome his playing is, but that's really hard to miss.
So, next question!!!
Amazing how a truss rod cover could even be brought up When Victor Wooton is over
It really don't matter at ALL...And it won't change the sound of his bass with or without the cover
Loving his right hand technique. Are there any tutorials/guides on his right hand style?

This is so cool... #king_of_pocket_funk
Muito bom :D
Talented..
God gifted
Hey Victor ever play a 24 string bass ?
Did he ever name that second song.
The party starts at 12:00.
YO VICTOR
When he says like speaking he didn't know what he was going to play, it would have been cooler if he hadn't have relied on things he knows off by heart. You could argue he's just telling you his favourite stories but its not the same as coming up with something unique in the moment.

Namm 2014 victor improvs check it out
👏👏👏
Does anyone know what tune he is playing at 2:30 ? So much groove, I need to know.
I found it. It's Flip Flop. Thanks me!
His tone isn't great on this but he still kills it
👍🎷
The best
What's the second tune he played?
What's the last song with vocals? Anyone?
he said he was doing something unplanned, like walking out the door and not knowing what you're going to think about all day. i dunno if it's other than him messing around. he's great w/ words like that, his whole family is. :)
The song at 10:21 called its my life
It’s my life.. I believe by bon jovi... jk.
✌🏼
Victor was amazing as always, but for the love of god, somebody please get rid of that stool and get something that doesn’t make all that noise!
Never knew he can sing 😮😮😮
Denzel washington should make a movie about wooten jahahahaha
The only bass player so percussive/rhythmic that he has to use the Moeller technique
Without looking at the video, I thought Denzel Washington was doing the intro.
Everyone hereafter: [listens to Victor talk at the beginning without looking]
Everyone Hereafter: Can confirm
bass: it's like guitar but cooler
Aaannnnddd just gonna turn you down a bit in the mix... cause of the coolness. Jk. I dunno if ide day bass is cooler than guitar. Certainly cooler than a key tar.
I dislik the sound's quality :(
Victor don't deserve that ....
If you dont like the quality of this, you need better headphones my dude. This sounds like he's plugged directly into my head. Like its the same attack and quality of listening to the DI on my bass through a mixer.
I cannot agree. The quality doesen't sound good enough to me.
@@ColossusBall oh Broth ... I got the BEAT BY DRE Headphone ...
Anyway ... The quality ils bad trust me
oh you're trolling. got it.
I also dislike the sound. But then I've never liked Cube amps, which I think he's playing through.
Yo, Victa! Whatever you do I want you to remember this here; be sleepy when you play and it'll bring out the Curtis Mayfield in ya!
8:05 What's the song title of this?
Stevie wonder vibes
Supimpa
I'm gonna catch me a bull frog
Ribbet
Thanks for uploading! Nice video. Please don't mix daylight with this horrible yellow light. Slight difference ist OK, but here looks Vic like he had a jaundice!

Victor Wooten looks a bit like Ronaldinho.
Davide Serri
I taught I was the only one who had noticed it

You dont need no drugs, to get a little buzz.
Relix should have rented a good Bass Amp... this is ridiculous
He has paddle fingers.
If this jam had any lyrics it would be screaming "MARCUS MILLER, MARCUUUSSS MIILLLLLERRR..."
Too Nasty!!!
So much fat grooves I took 10 pounds
I love Vic, but that amp sounds like it's underwater. Pure shit.
Awesome player ruined by shitty recording. Who's the sound engineer that didn't notice the whole thing is clipping?? Shame
Bob Marley
Rédemption song
Does he speak in a way like Denzel Washington?
Damn dude! Who did your sound 🥴🤣👎
THE AUDIO IS A SHIT!!!
Just enjoy it what's wrong with you?
