Regi handed me the guitar he is playing here at a show in Carbondale, Illinois. After the show, that is. All I did was ask if he still played it. VERY cool Family. VERY talented.
What's fantastic about this video is that everyone watching it is the type of person that can just close their eyes and, in their head, isolate each instrument, and really enjoy what's going on. I love you all! Thanks for uploading @cleansounds
anyone who uses two - count em, two, tube socks as capos, at the same time, should merit his own chapter in the "illustrated history of rock music", right alongside chet atkins and eddie van halen. what! super mario brother on the drums!
I love the Wooten Brothers and have heard them many many times at 3rd and Lindsley. They are always very exciting and a great show. Also they put out a very positive vibe that can be felt in the entire room. I don't want to get into a flame war with the comment made by Barabass...so I will respectfully only say that IMHO I do not agree with his comment & leave it at that.
For once Vic missed his brother's cue. Around five minutes mark, Regi was trying to transition to Return To Forever but Vic was locked into his groove.
Victor was the youngest of 5 brothers and Reggie taught him to play, its so odd that the youngest brothers career took off more than the older brothers that taught him, but Victor has such a uniquely innovative sound on the instrument. It makes me wonder how great a bassist Reggie would have been if he played bass.
Regi does play bass sometimes. Victor has been successful because a banjo player found him busking in Nashville and the universe was aligned. Think about how preposterous it is to be discovered in the street by a banjo player.
One can only imagine the wonderful music that flowed through the Wooten Family Home.

The rhythm guitar man they’re both just wildly solid players capable of space exploration
The "rhythm guitar man" taught Victor how to play. Yeah, he's solid.
That’s one of the best bass solos I’ve ever heard. Holy cow the phrasing and feel is as good as it gets.
And Regi is ofc the master
Chameleon is one of the funkiest tracks ever! Great work by Vic and Regi :)

Victor's strength as a bass player is that he lays down one of the strongest solid bass pockets to groove over top. Always on beat and rock steady.
Okay, the teacher Victor Wooten is a legend and accompanying musicians are excellent congratulations and I send a hug from Mexico City
Regi Wooten is the teacher...the guiratist

super mario brother on the drums!
They're hair ties and they are used as mutes.
@@chuckdavinci9044 yes but it's more fun to pretend they are tube socks
Mr. Wooten you are the baddest bast player in the world. Linda S. English
+Linda English Yep. I agree.
in fact... that's a fact..we all agree.
What a "bast player" is?
He's a good bass player, don't know about bast doe...
@@Clubs_88 lol
Naturally, Victor would start with the mother of more than half the fusion era, "Chameleon."
regi quase nao se aguenta de orgulho.
first time ive heard this track played by anyone but a high school jazz band
Finally, a video with decent sound! Thank you!!!
Sem duvidas Victor Wooten é o melhor contra Baixista do Planeta. É um monstro.
THANK YOU. 🎶🔥
好き
regi was the one who started teaching victor how to play bass when he (regi) was 10 years old
Only a true musician or musicians can make Chameleon still interesting well after the initial charm has faded.
Magnificant jam!
Masters of GROOVE !!! Too cool !!!

For once Vic missed his brother's cue. Around five minutes mark, Regi was trying to transition to Return To Forever but Vic was locked into his groove.
Regi Wooten from where did you buy that guitar from Spaceship or Star Wars? It's Crazy but cool as well.
That's also the toejam and earl theme if anyone ever played it on megadrive/genesis :)
@HardManAndres Regi's guitar is a VERY customized 80's Kramer Voyager. Awesome, ain't it? :P
Victor is the groove master.
The tune is Chamelion(sp) by Herbie Hancock with simplified (slightly wrong) changes.
Oh the sweet sweet irony.
And spelt slightly wrong. B-)
Bwahahahahahaha........
All of these musicians are better than you can ever dream of becoming, I'm sure they chose to play it this way.
Dat mustache of the drummer tho :o
is that a space guitar? Probably given to him by an Alien.
😂😂😂 Yeah,he got it from aliens.
Space funk right here!
isn't it obvious? look at his right hand. Even the hand was given by Alien.
80’s Kramer, customized
You guys are awesome. Seriously this is funky as shit :D

Victor Wooten needs to Invite the bass player ( pipoquinha ) from Brazil 🇧🇷 to play with

Well in a way Reggie only taught his brothers how to speak, it just just so happened that Vic had a lot of interesting things to say...
Regi does play bass sometimes. Victor has been successful because a banjo player found him busking in Nashville and the universe was aligned. Think about how preposterous it is to be discovered in the street by a banjo player.
So funky cool
the strongest part of this video is the moustache

This reminds me of Vulfpecl
herbie hancock - chameleon, even if not perfectly made ahah

while Victor is World Class, Regi is original at best.
+Axel Baumgarten Reggie's pretty f**kin' good. It's just that Victor is, well, Victor.
Regi taught Victor to play bass at the age of like three or four so really Reggie the f****** pimp here
@THRAPYST yeah regi is not your conventional/typical guitar player lol
The thing I don't get is ...the drummers moustache
I'm not felling the guitar sounds, chords, etc. Its not clean to me. Victor is killin!
all detractors please post a video of something of yours that's better... before or after you get a life... either way..
Exactly Witster, most couldn't beat off the right way............
Good groove, but the bass line is wrong! Sorry.
Yup you should write Victor in person. LOL
